It's a zone, best approach disc on the market. If you want a straighter one, go with esp plastic. Z line is much more stable in my opinion. Either work perfectly for pretty much any backhand or forehand approach.

The quintessential overstable approach disc. So many other discs have been modeled after it--and I have some--but the Zone never leaves my bag unless I'm trying out other discs. As a forehand dominant player, it offers so much utility to my game. Typically flat/slightly puddle topped, its beadless design and shallowheight makes smooth releases easier than some of its competitors.

Additionally, due to it's popularity, it's offered in a lot of different types of plastic. I struggle with grip (especially in bad conditions) due to a wrist injury so this is a bigger factor for someone like me, as I know I'll have one in a type of plastic suited to the conditions I'm faced with.

If you're a forehand thrower yet to give it a try or someone looking for a solid side arm starter, you can't go wrong with the Zone.

Best disc ever made. If you are a forehand player this disc kills at anything inside of 250 feet for a standard arm speed. It's much more of an approach disc than a real putter but it excels at getting around corners and navigating particularly tree filled holes.

    Not impressed.

The ESP Discraft Zone is a popular disc among disc golfers, but it's not for everyone. The plastic feels great in the hand, but it's not very reliable and a little too deep for smaller hands to backhand or forehand.

The Zone is very unpredictable, and it's not uncommon for it to flip or turn more than expected.

It's is also a very deep disc, which makes it difficult to grip for some players. This is especially true for players with smaller hands. The deep rim can make it difficult to get a good grip on the disc, which can lead to inconsistent releases.

Here are some other discs that you may want to consider if you're looking for a reliable overstable disc:

    • Innova Gator or Gator3
    • Legacy Rival
    • Westside Discs Harp

I was not sure I needed the Zone since I used my ESP Buzzz for my upshots. Definitely a great addition to the bag. When the wind is howling the Zone stays true to the line you put it on. If my putters drift in the wind the Zone finds the chains. There are baskets with water behind them on my favorite course that I use to shy away from and lay up. Now I can power this disc in andi it will stick. A beginner might want to choose something with less fade. But if you are looking for a disc to power in at the basket, the Zone will not disappoint with a reliable fade that laughs at a good headwind.

There are many overstable approach discs out there. This is the overstable approach disc to rule them all. Great for forehand or backhand. The fade is super reliable. Personally, I prefer esp or cryztal flx, but each plastic behaves marginally differently. Buy this disc. Trust me. Do it. You won't regret it

Oh my lanta, I cannot say enough good things about this disc. This is absolutely my go-to approach disc. They versatility of this disc alone is incredible. I'm forehand dominant and often will flick my approach, but I love this equally backhand. Not a huge Brodie guy, but these are fantastic for scoober shots as well. Please buy one, you will love it.

An absolute classic mold and for great reason. I'm a backhand dominant player and I was able to add a forehand shot to my game basically because of this disc. It is ultra reliable. low profile, flat top (sometimes even puddled) it is perfect for my forehand grip. As I said, I'm backhand dominant but I mainly use this forehand. Anything 225 and in that I need a finish to the right, I'm reaching for this disc. I have it in a few plastics, but I prefer it in ESP. One reason is I'm not a fan of Z line plastic from Discraft, I find it to be too slick. In ESP I think this hits a perfect sweet spot of stability: I can rip it forehand and if I throw it correctly it will fly dead straight for 90% of the flight before a fade right finish with maybe a baby skip. It can handle some OAT too, and I've sometimes gotten turn out of it, but it always fights out never turns over. Useful for backhand shots as well, although I personally prefer something a bit deeper for a backhand power grip so I don't throw it backhand as much. It could be your only approach disc though. Everyone should try this disc at some point, it has been often imitated but this is the original. Always in my bag.

I can throw this disc 200 feet straight with almost no fade. With that being said it is not meant to go that far straight. I found it is a disc that if you need a hyzer or flex shot it does very well. At lower distances its overstability shows itself; especially if you throw it higher in the air. This disc has no glide so it will stay on its line or fall out of the air if you don't throw it high enough. I found this disc has the overstability that an overstable midrange and found it more useful than my overstable midrange. The only reason I would use an overstable midrange is on certain shots which I rarely encounter or in the wind.

    ESP Zone, Soft Zone

This is such a wonderful disc that honestly feels like cheating sometimes. I bag two, one in ESP for drives and a Soft for approaches where i need the disc to just stick once it hits the ground. Both fly very predictably with the Soft having a tad bit less fade than the ESP.

This will honestly replace most peoples overstable mid-range once you've got a handle on it and will be your go-to disc when you're not sure what to throw and you just want to chuck something. Highly recommend.

This disc has quickly become one of my favorite disc.  Its great feeling for both RHBH and RHFH, it has a consistent fade that you can always expect which makes it great for flex shots.  Short tunnel shots on an anhyzer release will fly tight and straight to a nice finish at the end.  It takes a little bit to dial in what level of power to put on this disc, but once dialed in, will become one of the most valuable approach discs in your bag.

This is my go to approach disc for both RHBH and RHFH shots, and it does NOT fail.

This disc will ALWAYS fade back. I love throwing touch anhyzer shots with it and allow it to turn right and then fight back left. No matter how you throw it, it will fade left. Even in head wind, it will NOT turn over.

My only gripe is that the ESP plastic does make it skip a lot.

What more good things can be said that have not already been said about this disc? I've tried many other approach discs and none can even compare to the Zone. I've had two, one in Z and one in ESP and both have been mainstays in my bag for as long as I have had them. The Zone is incredibly comfortable in the hand on both forehand and backhand, and as it beats in it becomes even more reliable and versatile. It is highly resistant to torque. I give full credit to the Zone for teaching me how to throw a sidearm scramble approach. I can pull this out at almost any time and be supremely confident that it will land right next to the basket. 275 foot straight shot through a tight gap? Perfect for the Zone. 150 foot upshot which cannot land short in the water? I’m going with my ESP Zone. Off the fairway needing a straddle-out anhyzer forehand to save par? You guessed it—Zone. This is one of the few discs that I can say that bagging it will actively lower your scores.

This is a disc that every beginner should have in their bag. It is almost exclusively a forehand flick disc for me and I use it anywhere between 100 and 250 ft. The reliability for forehand flex shots and dead straight birdie and Ace runs are second to none.

    TL;DR
A fantastic overstable tweener discs to bridge the gap between mids and putters. It's neither of these really. It's an approach disc. Maybe it's not always the best for beginners to use at all times, but I could see a use. It's overstable and slow, shallow and can be thrown forehand or backhand.

    Full:
A slow overstable tweener disc. Not always the best shot choice, but usually can get away with throwing it. It comes in a ton of different plastics that all fly a little bit different and obviously feel different.  I'm not going to rank stability vs plastic type, but base lines will be straighter, denser/harder plastics will be more stable. If you need an approach disc that always wants to get back to the ground and can be thrown in any wind. This is it.

I've thrown zone's for the past two years and it's one of the most consistent discs in my bag. It's great to throw off the tee in any premium plastic, will handle a lot of torque assuming it's not heavily beat in, and fade consistently. Also handles a good amount of forehand torque but is usable at any power, short 100 foot approaches all the way to however far you can throw it, about 275 for me. Stays consistent in the wind and is a good disc to throw in any plastic, I've tried Z, Titanium, Crystal, ESP, and Jawbreaker, consistent in any plastic and feels good in them all to. Great approach disc

One word describes the zone: reliable. It's my go to forehand approach disc and I can always trust it on any angle. If I put it on a bunch of anny, it will very slowly pan towards the basket on those step out forehand scrambles. If I throw it flat it'll go straight for a little bit but it will always fade hard at the end. The zone is one of the few discs I can always pull out of my bag if I don't know how to approach a hole. It will fight the wind; it'll take as much torque as I want to put on it; it'll even find its way to the basket on forehand rollers whenever I need to pull that out.

I would highly recommend the zone to anyone looking for that overstable approach disc to help them really step up their game and take it to the next level

A good approach disc is the backbone of your bag. It can save a bad tee shot and park you close when your putting is off. It holds your whole game together. I've been hunting for a solid overstable/mainly sidearm approach since I started playing and about a year ago I finally broke down and tried a Zone. I hate jumping on bandwagons, especially one's that HAVE to throw everything McBeth throws, but the Zone is just TOO good not to bag. Almost immediately bogeys were turning into pars. My first touchy/floaty flex forehand from behind some typical bogey trees to park it for a tap-in par and I was hooked. As far as plastic I prefer my ESP. My buddy has the new legdestone Big Z and they feel/fly very similar.

The only disc in my bag that I carry multiple plastics of the same disc.

Zone disc: compared with other popular overstable 'putters', this one has a fairly shallow rim, especially when compared with the Harp and Jokeri. That shallow rim improves the feel in hand for a forehand. No discomfort with a backhand grip either. It's one of the few discs that is consistently a flat top (never thrown a Jawbreaker plastic version, so can't speak to that). As far as flight, it's true to the numbers. It's pretty darn torque resistant, with a consistent hyzer fade. For headwind drives / approaches, the stability can turn this disc into more of a straight laser. There is enough stability to get a flex flight out of the Zone too. With the reliability of the hyzer finish, this is a confidence inspiring disc for short drives, or approaches that involve some sort of finish left / right.

ESP plastic for the Zone: this plastic seems to be moderately stable when compared with other plastics (Z and Z Tour Swirl being the more 'beefy' plastics.) The advantage of ESP is that it 'sticks' its landing better than Z / Z Swirl, with the latter two getting skips. For approaches with rocks near the finish, or drop offs near the basket, I reach for ESP or CryZtal, both plastics that will 'stick' where you throw them.

Only reason for being Somewhat Beginner Friendly is the strong hyzer finish may throw off some fresh to the game, especially if they're already releasing at a hyzer angle.

The Zone is a disc I would recommend to anyone, and there is a reason it is one of the moat popular approach discs in the world. This disc is very overstable, and will fade anytime you need it to. The rim and flat profile of the discs makes it great for sidearms. I like using this for approaches inside of 120 feet, and will occasionally use it off the tee. The ESP plastic is always great, and I imagine the Z plastic is just as good. I have slightly less power, and have heard ESP is less stable than Z, so I chose ESP, and haven't regretted that decision. Overall, this is a fantastic disc and one of my most used.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS DISC!!! I have only been playing for about 2 months but I am the type of player that does so much research on a disc before I buy it. I bought this in Get Freaky Cryztal FLX and it instantly became my forehand approach disc. The grip is phenomenal, the plastic feels great, and whatever line you give this disc, it will hold it and finish exactly where you want it. I have 2 of them in my bag just because! I am on the hype train with the Zone. I own it in 170s ESP. This disc is predictable and fills the approach and escape role perfectly on wooded courses, shrugs off headwinds like a juggernaut, and sits down nicely after impact except on the hardest, flattest ground or at extremely flat landing angles. A backhand throw in an open field on a slight hyzer yields some of the most beautiful lines I've seen from any disc. It might seem weird to mention flight aesthetics, but there's just something beautiful about how the Zone flies. The Zone is the right overstable disc for those 150-200' approaches that absolutely need to stick the landing. For beginners, it takes a little adjustment to understand how the overstability of the Zone interacts with your release direction and angles, but that is also a great learning tool that you will enjoy as soon as you're ready to try it out. I also love the somewhat unique, slanted outer rim of the disc, which feels good in the hand.

PS: People make comparisons to the Westside Harp often, which I find apt. The Zone and Harp have very similar flight patterns, and I think it mostly comes down to feel. The rim shape and height are noticeably different to me. I slightly prefer the feel of the Zone, but that is no knock on the Harp, which I still often use in fieldwork sessions to practice approach lines.

    Edited for clarity.

Jawbreaker is the plastic I have it in but isn't an option for that.

Loved this disc from the first time I got it. I first got it for longer ranged put but soon after getting it, became the go to forehand upshot disc. The shallow rim makes it perfect for gentle forehand approach. Just enough stability to hold a straight forehand line with predicable fade. Perfect for beginners to help get up and down.

There is definitely a reason people love these. The first is that you need some sort of OS approach disc. The 2nd is that these feel great and the 3rd is they fly great. I can work all the same shots with this that I can with a Harp or Tactic but the Zone just fits better in the hand making it more comfortable on BH shots as well as FH.  It did take me a tiny bit longer to learn this disc. While the Harp and Tactic where very intuitive for my FH approach and immediately landed right where I wanted on day 1, it took me about a week to learn the Zone. Now that I'm confident with it I no longer bag the other approach discs, for now, anyway.

I love The Zone and highly recommend this for every players bag! Not only is the disc great in the wind, but it's super reliable and consistent in almost every situation. I use the Zone for most upshots 80-200 feet. It's very overstable and has an extremely reliable left fade (RHBH); but I like putting The Zone on anhyzer for shots where a hyzer isn't possible (trees/low ceiling shots); and the best part about The Zone for upshots has got to be the ground play. When it sits, it SITS; I rarely have to worry about a rollaway. This disc has definitely helped improve my confidence in my upshot game.

Extremely dependable approach disc that holds it's overstability, especially in the ESP and Z-Line plastic. The rim is shallower than the similar AviarX3, which makes it much more comfortable with a forehand grip. Great disc for those tight flex shots needed to approach the green - this disc reliably fights out of an anhyzer.

I bought a esp Zone last summer and it is easily the best approach disc that I have in my bag. It's very over stable, but very controllable too. It is a reliable disc and you always know what it's going to do. Occasionally I will Tee off with this disc on shorter holes that have a tight gap. I find this disc to be amazing for forehands and backhands, making it easy to get right next to the basket on longer more technical approach shots. This is an incredible disc for approach shots and you can get some surprising distance with it too. Any player will benefit from keeping one in their bag.

I bought this disc for use as a putter only but quickly switched over to a luna to do my putting and ended up leaving this in the bag more often than not. It ended up staying in my bag for the first several months I played until I tried a "putter only" round and pulled this out. Now it is one of my go to discs for approach shots especially when I get into an awkward spot. This disc is great for me when I need to flick something out of the edge of the woods or get around a tricky obstacle without sending something too far long. I don't recommend this for someone just starting out because this disc takes quite a bit of touch to throw it well.  But it is one of my favorite discs that goes with me every round!

This is a very solid disc. This is perhaps THE approach disc preferred by many disc golfers, and I can definitely see why. The reliability is very good. This disc always fights out of any anhyzer and finishes overstable, which is what many look for in an approach shot. This rim, flatness, and firmness allows for both backhand and forehand approaches that feel very comfortable. Though I would not recommend this disc for putting, I have seen some people be very successful putting this disc (especially Jonny Automatic who has also left a review for this disc about a month ago and raves about it every time I play with him which eventually persuaded me to buy one). I bought this is esp plastic at 175 grams. Like he says, I straight up smash 200 foot approaches with this disc, but it is very situational for me. I can throw hyzers which are dependably overstable. Anhyzers fight out of the angle quickly but can be used to hit certain lines. Like I said, this disc is very solid and dependable, and I suggest you give it a try.

I didn't know I was missing a shot in my bag until I started throwing a zone. I started getting back into Disc Golf this year after spending the past few years playing ultimate, so naturally, Brodie Smith's transition to Disc Golf caught my attention. He kept throwing and talking about his zone that I felt I needed to try one and once I did I feel like I had been playing without a crucial shot in my arsenal for my entire life. The zone is the perfect disc for the chip-shot forehand approach, anny-flex forehand or backhand approaches, and any 250-275 shots off the tee. The predictability and consistency of the fade on this disc is amazing, and you are afforded the wiggle room to make a mistake with you line because all you have to do is get the zone into an area close to where you need to land and you can trust it will fly the same every time.

I carry two different zones in my bag, ESP and Crazy Tough (CT). I find myself reaching for my ESP zone for off the tee shots or shots that I want an extra skip after landing. I use the CT or a jawbreaker zone for shots that I want to stick and not skip. I also have a Z zone that I feel is very comparable to the ESP in terms of ground play after landing, it just comes down to preference in the grip on the plastic for the player The forgiveness on off-axis torque for my developing forehand shot has been great and I think can benefit a lot of players when learning to throw a forehand. The disc has such a great feeling in your hand, the rim is the right depth, the top is nice and flat, and the rim is smooth and beadless.

In exceptionally windy situations I will grab my zone to putt with, if need that extra stability or fade on a putt, I will reach for the zone. You can let the disc go to the right on the basket (RHBH) and have the confidence in any condition it is going to crash to the basket.

    Jawbreaker Zone, 174.

Great approach disc, and good off the tee.

Jawbreaker plastic lead to a much more understable flight than I expected from the zone (dead straight for ~200 ft), but will fight the wind, and stays straight without turning over when I let it fly.

There is no better/reliable approach disc in my opinion. When needed, can get this out to 250ft, but this disc really thrives from 150ft and in. Even when thrown on anhyzer, this disc will fight back and finish on a hyzer. Great for throwing into headwinds and getting reliable finish. Also, once it hits the ground, it sticks quite well and rarely rolls away.

This is my go to disc for drives and approaches under 250 feet. I have the Zone in the ESP plastic and it will take all the torque and power I put behind it. I will usually drive it with either a hard low hyzer and it will hold its angle the whole way, or I will flex a forearm shot and bend it around trees. If thrown flat, the disc will carry straight with no turn and then fade with a long glide fade. This disc is perfect for wooded bends. If a beginner or a slow arm, do not expect to get distance out of this disc. Instead learn how to use it to work angles. For big, power arms, let it rip because when thrown hard, the zone can almost be treated as a midrange.

I do not like putting with the zone because it will fade off my line too quickly for my putts.

I love this disc and will probably always have one in the bag.

This disc is amazing. I was struggling with putting not anymore! this is good from any distance and it's got a great stability rating. In fact I made my longest putt of my four year career with it just yesterday! Over 120 feet! This is a very over stable putter and it's great for throwing into wind and even in 10 wins :-) also I have started learning flick putting I made a good many with this disc today. And also say you have a good putter already but do you have a good approach disc. I am starting to straight up smash some of these approaches from 200+ feet away. So my question to you is do you wanna put in approach like the pros? Buy the zone ESP plastic today

The Zone ESP is a fantastic disc for the novice disc golfer. It is very forgiving weather it is thrown forehand, backhand, Hyzer bomb or even a scoober. Best part about the Zone is that you never outgrow it. There are always a situation where the Zone is a go to disc.

This is a great approach disc. If there was a category in between mid-range and putter, this disc would be just that. A solid throw behind this will make it sail straight with a moderate fade to the left (RHBH) at the end. Very predictable flight paths make this an ideal disc to use for approach shots and maneuvering between obstacles. It's not my favorite to putt with, but it's still more than useable for that, especially at a bit of a distance from the chains.  It's also a bit tougher to get a grip on because of the smaller lip, but go fingerprints not fingertips with the grip and it's fine.

I'm not a fan of putters at all. I've tried several including the Magnet, Aviar and Roach. I settled using my Sol as a putter and it's pretty good but I tend to like midranges like Buzzz and Malta better for putting and approaches. That is, until a few weeks ago i decided to take another chance of throwing my money away on a new putter and picked up a Zone. I now want several of these discs!

The Zone is amazing, frankly. I can use it for sooo many shots. I reach for it on almost any approach shot I'm looking at. It is stable enough to handle the torque of my forehand, and has enough touch to handle the subtle toss of my putts. I think of this disc as my putter version of my Felon and/or Flick. It handles excellent in the wind and the fade is very dependable. I will putt with it inside the circle, or lightly throw it from circle 2, but I'll use my Sol to actually putt from circle 2. The Zone is there for so many situations, I absolutely love this disc and it has single handedly brought my scoring averages down since i bought it.

I have an ESP and i believe it is a Swirly ESP by the looks of it. Its a beautiful lavender color and the metallic stamp is flower pattern which I'm told is rare. I love how it looks, and i love how it feels. Same profile as a Sol, flat with a nice thick edged rim makes it super easy and comfortable to fan grip. It's soft and grippy but yet somehow stiff and durable... classic ESP. I'm excited to test out different plastics. I think I'll get a Jawbreaker next. So so glad i took a chance on this disc, I'll never look back now.

I got the Zone in ESP plastic (175g) and it has been a great addition to my bag. I link to throw this disc off the tee for shots that need to finish left without going too far. When thrown flat or on a hyzer line, the ESP Zone is very reliable and consistent.

However, after I used it for a while and beat it in, I found that the ESP plastic did not work well for flex shots and anhyzer lines. It seems that the Zone fights the out of the anhyzer line to straight, but it does not fade back consistently. I have played with the angle and height at which I throw the Zone on an anhyzer line, and not as consistent as I would like for it to be. I will experiment with different plastics to see how they perform.

    Disc - 173g ESP Zone

The ESP Zone is very predictable and is great for getting you out of some sticky situations. I love the Discraft ESP plastic, it is my go to plastic for most discs. It has a good feel and it is comfortable to hold. As for the mold, this disc feels great for forehands, which is mostly what I throw when throwing this disc. I love this disc for short par 3 forehand drives and upshots. I will always carry one in my bag and I am always tempted to get a few more in various plastics just for comparison. I feel like this is the quintessential overstable approach disc. If you don't already have one, I would highly recommend getting one.

Awesome discs for approach shots, or long rang puts between narrow trees. My home course is very wooded and windy and this disc is a staple in my bag. I can get it to fly flat, with a hard left finish or put a little anyhzer on it for a nice baby flex shot. The rim is narrow and the top is flat, which makes it feel great for FH. Because of the overstability, this disc is reliable in the wind.

Flight numbers are true and accurate. I'm a newer player and can throw this between 230-250ft with accuracy. When matching the angle of the disc with the angle of the surface, this disc will sit right where it lands. This is my go to disc for small flex shots, hyzers, forehand approach shots, and uphill hyzers all within 250ft.

ESP plastic feels great in my hands, has great grip and is very durable.

    Disc: 170g ESP Zone

The Discraft zone is a fantastic midrange for forehands and for some (not including myself), backhands. The ESP plastic runs pretty stable and I'd probably recommend the Z plastic as it supplies better grip and feels better in the hand. I'm very happy with my product and I look forward to buying more zones (most likely in Z, Z FLX, or CryZstal) in the future.

    Disc: 175g ESP Zone

The ESP Zone is a predictable disc for upshots that require stability or wind-fighting. The rim is very shallow, which I find comfortable for forehands but less comfortable for backhands. The Zone also handles torque incredibly well for a 4-speed disc, adding to its utility for forehand shots.

The ESP plastic is durable, so the disc will still fly true even after making the acquaintance of many trees. However, the ESP plastic is also noticeably more slick than other premium blends like Innova's Star plastic. In summary, the Zone flies like a shorter version of the Firebird, although the feel is distinctly different.

I have tried a lot of discs in this category and settled on the zone.  Other similar disc that I have tried are the harp, caiman, tactic and aviar x3.  I bag two currently, a jawbreaker and ESP.  Some of the reasons I have choose the zone over others are:

    - Comfort in the hand and comfort throwing backhand and forehand

    - Variety of plastics that have different stabilities and different probability to skip

    - It's overstable with no sign of any turn

I was bagging a innova caiman which I loved, but wanted to try something different because it was getting to the stage of beat of where it would turn in the flight and couldn't trust it to flex out. The zone is slower, but I can still get in the same range of distance with the jawbreaker since it is a little less stable.

If you're looking for a flick approach that is overstable and won't go past the basket, this is for you.

This is a fantastic overstable approach disc. When thrown flat it will hold straight and reliably fade out. When thrown on anhyzer you will get a nice tight s-curve. And when thrown on hyzer, this disc will cut a tight corner for you. Id also say that in the softer plastics, the zone is very "sticky" and will likely not skip far from your landing zone. All in all, its at the top of my list for approach shots forehand and backhand!

I have jawbreaker and ESP zones and they are both amazing discs although the plastics make them different.

The ESP zone will fly strait the finish over stable it is very reliable and holds its shape and flight path for a long time.

The Jawbreaker Zone flies very similar to the ESP zone at the beginning but over time it breaks in and flies flatter still with the consistent hyzer finish. The jawbreaker plastic also has a very good grip.

The ESP and Jawbreaker zones are some of the most reliable discs in my bag.

What can I even say about the zone that hasn't already been said? This disc is THE staple in my opinion of Discraft. If you look at every pro player or even casual player that throws Discraft, they all will have a zone. That is because this disc is an essential for any player that wants to be good. It is an extremely overstable approach disc that should win the "get out of jail free" award. Whenever you throw a bad shot or end up in the non ideal spot on the course, you can reach down for you zone and you know it will put you in a spot that is more than manageable. This disc single handedly taught me how to throw a forehand touch shot, that improved my game instantly. This disc will take a little bit of getting used to because most new players won't have thrown an overstable disc like this. But the moment you figure out how to throw this disc you will fall in love and will always bag a few of them. After a few months of throwing my ESP zone, it has stayed very true from the very moment I got it. From watching Brodie Smith use the jawbreaker zone and get it beat up, it looks like you may be able to beat up some base line plastics to be a straighter flying zone rather than just the super beefy overstable disc. If you have thrown a harp it is very similar to that but feels better in the hand in my opinion.

There is not much to be said about the zone that hasn't already been said. I don't forehand a lot of shots but I love the zone for chip shot approaches or when I don't trust myself to throw a turnover. This is especially helpful as a lefty while playing on courses that need left bending shots.

I absolutely love the zone. If you have a drive inside 250' that allows a hyzer finish, or an approach that allows the same this is the perfect disc. Wind doesn't affect it much, and it will consistently fly with a dump hard to its low speed fade. You can really crank up the power on this with no fear of the disc ever turning over. Great disc.

if you throw forehand and don’t have a Zone, stop playing until you get one! The Zone is the single most reliable disc I’ve ever thrown and it’s stability is perfect for learning a consistent, hard flat flick. This is the disc that taught me angle control and makes for a beautiful high soft anny flex that will reliably pan to the pin. (It’s also my favorite forehand roller, thrown basically straight up and down). Discraft’s best disc by far!

In the ESP plastic at max weight straight to over stable regardless of wind. Definitely recommend this disc from beginner to pro!

This disc has been an absolute Game Changer since it was added to my bag. My first Zone was a found disc in the ESP plastic, with no name/number, and I began using it sparingly as I wasn't sure what to do with all that stability. Before too long I found myself using this instead of mid ranges simply because I can trust all of my power and never fear about this disc turning over.

After throwing the ESP RHBH for a number of years I picked up an Elite Z plastic to teach myself a forehand throw and now there are 2 Zones in the bag! This disc does not have a ton of glide but it will punch through any wind you might encounter. It has enough stability that you can anny flex and always trust it to come back and finish with a predictable fade. The rim is extremely comfortable in my smallish hand for both backhand and forehand shots. This is one disc that will remain in my bag for life.

I have tried overstable approach discs from all of the major disc companies and this is hands down the best approach disc ever made. Don't putt with it, use it to drive & approach on any shot under 250'. The rim feels great and provides a smoother release than any other approach disc I've tried. It's easy to keep this thing on the right angle and it even seems to course correct a little for you. It wants to be on that smooth hyzer line right to the basket.

I have 3 Zone's, my favorite being Pro D surprisingly. ESP is glidiest, where Jawbreaker and Pro D are a bit flatter/puddled.

This disc is beefy, but has a great feel in hand. So it's easy to throw consistently and what else is consistent about this...hmm the FADE! I will warn, you don't wanna skimp out on this disc, because sometimes touchy approaches with this will leave you hanging a bit hard off to the side.

Bottom line, give this disc a try for FH and BH. It's so consistent in hand and in flight, it's a staple. You can't be mad at this disc if you throw it bad!

Wow! This disc surprised me! I used to throw Harps but since I tried out the Zone I can't go back. I love the feel of the rim which is a little more shallow than the Harp. I've thrown a Jawbreaker, ESP and McBeth Z Signature Zone. All 3 plastics are great but I've really enjoyed the ESP for the grip and durability. My ESP Zone also has just a little dome and glides better than the other plastics I threw which were super flat. I like this disc RHFH mostly but also throw RHBH approach shots. I like it for short drives and almost every kind of approach shot. I think this would be a solid choice for a single disc round.

The first question I ask myself when I walk up to my lie (or the tee box) is "Can I get there with a Zone?"  It's simply the most consistent shot around.  Forehand, backhand, full-power, touch flicks, flex shots, spike hyzers--the Zone does it all.  I carry both and ESP for more overstable lines and a Jawbreaker for a bit straighter flight path.  If you need a flat topped, torque-resistant approach disc, you can't beat a Zone.

I first got a Zone to replace a DD Suspect my first year of playing and have had a couple in my bag ever since. I have a Crystal Zone and an ESP zone. Both are pretty overstable but the Crystal has not broken in or lost any overstability after a full season of use. The ESP has broken in enough that it goes straight about 20 feet further before a nice reliable fade. The broken in ESP is also very good for flex shots needing a late flight fade. The best part about the Zone is it is equally as comfortable forehand and backhand for those who like flat discs. Overall, the Zone is my favorite disc and a go-to for approach shots that call for a hyzer finish.

By far the best approach disc on the market. Overstable so you can rip on it if you need it. It can handle a forehand or backhand. This discs literally shaves 3 stroked off of every round I play. It is pin point accurate. I love throwing 200 ft or in hyzers with this discs and the predictability is insane. They are tough to flip over, but, you can put them on a forceover flex line and have trust they will come back.

The Discraft Zone is, in my humble opinion, the most versatile low speed disc. This disc is great for forehands, and it is overstable enough to take a strong flick without turning. It is also great for backhand hyzer shots, and can be used effectively for anyhyzer flex shots. This disc can take as much power as you are willing to give it. This is my go to disc for getting out of trouble and other tough spots that I have to throw from. My game would not be complete without the Discraft Zone, and neither is yours.

This disc has been a game changer for me.  It has made several discs in my bag almost redundant.  It is just so perfectly predictable for such a vast array of shots.  Heck, I've even been using it as a putter... and it's surprisingly good in that role, as well.  Considering picking some up in a softer plastic for dedicated putting, in fact!  I am a predominantly RHBH player, but it is sooo easy to flick this disc... it can handle a lot of power too.  Incredibly difficult to turn this disc over.  Far and away the most used disc in my bag, at the moment... and I don't see that ever changing.

I have been working with the zone for a few rounds now, and after initially not liking it as much as I liked the Harp I am beginning to come around to this disc.

In comparison to the tournament Harp, it is a bit shorter and substantially more OS. I could rip on the Harp backhand and it would stay straight before fading out, where as the Z Zone wants to pull itself into a hyzer shortly after leaving the hand. I have had far more success keeping the Zone straight forehanded, where it locks to the line before that biting fade takes it to the ground.

I am hoping that the Zone seasons itself to being a touch less OS with some more use. Im thinking that another plastic might be more of what I am looking for. I hope with seasoning this disc becomes a bit straighter for my backhand. For newer players, I'd avoid the Z plastic as it will likely be too OS for them to use reliably.

    UPDATE:

I am bagging an ESP Zone nowadays. It is much less OS than my Z Zone. Don't get me wrong you still need to put some power behind the ESP Zone to get it to go where you want, but it doesn't require a TON of sauce like the Z Zone did. ESP is definitely a nice plastic to have because it's not as oppressively OS, and retains its flight characteristics for awhile!

Yet another highly under appreciated Discraft disc that has taken over my game.  It is a slightly faster, very overstable throwing putter that is perfect for fan grip controlled upshots, power grip drives, and flicks.  The flat top creates a lower profile that is easier for me to manage than the bulkier throwing putters out there. Couple that with the very grippy and flexible ESP plastic and you have a winning formula for control.

Unless I have to throw straight through a tunnel, this disc gets thrown on every upshot and every drive inside 270'.  It took some getting used to with regards to the unique feel and how overstable it was for a putter, but it was worth the investment. Pick one up and take the time to learn it. It won't let you down!

The Zone is an overstable putter that has a little bit of a different feel to it. I like how the Zone feels in my hand, and I can trust to have a good release with it. Truthfully, I rarely use this putter, as I prefer a putter that isn't as overstable as this one. However, this putter is very helpful on approach shots when I need to hyzer in. I usually throw it if I'm stuck behind a tree and need to get around it. Not an essential disc in my bag, but it certainly has its use. I would caution band new players on using it just because it is overstable, and often that can teach you poor throwing habits. If a beginner picks it up, it's not the end of the world, but I think they'd be better off with a Magnet.

ESP 170g. I absolutely love this disc. You can do every kind of approach shot requiring fade with it. High hyzers, flat straight shots that fade at the end, FH, BH., and flex. It replaced every putter that I used to approach in by bag other than my Reko and Colt since it is so consistent both BH and FH. I wouldn't putt with it, but I like a more neutral disc for that anyway (Colt). Also it's an excellent disc to escape trouble, especially in wooded courses. It's very small and seems to magically dodge trees. Wind does not really have an effect the flight either, which is a huge plus. Overall I am very impressed with its consistency and this disc alone saves at least a couple strokes for me each round.

I'll agree with all reviewers. This disc feels great to throw. I use the ESP zone off the tee, and D plastic for putting.  The D feels softer, and seems to grip the chains a bit better.  It also breaks in much much faster than ESP (does ESP ever break in?).

The ESP zone is super overstable, always fades at the finish.  It flies as far as most of my mid shots, and works very well forehand, roller, and trick shots.  I lost my hornet and never replaced it because I have this.  I throw a zone on almost every hole I play.

have a 175g ESP, and 165g ESP. The 165 fades a little less. Neither turn unless I ask them to with technique.  I have a beat up D zone 163g, which will turn when I throw it hard and come back. I putt mostly with 165g D plastic Zone (or a Judge if it's long straight in).

my recommendation:  in ESP plastic buy a lighter weight than you think.  Treat this as a tee/mid/approach disc. The ESP is stiffer and not as soft in the chains as I want out of a putter.  D plastic you can go ahead and buy weights you want.

Crucial to my game. I use this for very dependable OS hyzer shots. FH or BH this disc feels great in my hand and delivers. Doesn't go very far. Is very much a hybrid between a putter and a mid. I only putt with it when the winds are crazy. Mostly use it as a mid for dependable, short OS shots.

For me this overstable mid-ranged putter, is also a great utility disc. I putt with it, I get excellent up shots out of it, and I am comfortable with it off the tee. When I throw it flat I get a nice straight flight with a predictable fade, thrown on a hyzer line it does what you want an overstable disc to do. This is my goto disc for flex shots up to 200' as well. Put an anhyzer line on it and it will fight back to the predicatble fade at the end. Over all this is my absolute favorite disc in my arsenal.

I use this for nearly all forehand upshots and drives from 40 to 175 feet!

My main rival refers to this putter as a cheater disc. The stability and feel of this putter allows for really incredible distance for such a slow speed disc. As a putter I have a hard time using something that turns so hard. My putting style just does not agree with the disc. Where this disc shines is as an approach/short driver. The disc will usually finish fading hard and skip. I prefer to throw this disc on a right to left anhyzer shot that can unbelievably reach about 350 feet. It's fast for a putter, dependable with the amount of fade, and is available in high grade ESP plastic. Not for beginners, you need to learn how the disc flies before competing with it. I highly recommend it.

This disc has a very specific purpose (for rhbh)- turn left. I retired mine after a year or so because it is simply a fish hook, and the Discraft FLX Drone is a bit more versatile. If you can find an ESP run that will stay straight for a while before the predictable hyzer, you've got a money disc!

The zone is the most overstable putter by Discraft. It has a consistent and predictable fade. This is not a disc for beginners. I find this disc very useful in wooded courses and for my second shot approach, ESPECIALLY when there is wind! In my experience this disc will skip when landing, so if you need that extra skip towards the basket, this is a great disc for that purpose! I highly recommend this disc, it will get a lot of use!
