Want to get in the Zone? The Discraft Zone is a slim putter with a thick rim (1.2cm) that gives you something to hold on to. This is a very overstable putter that is good for headwinds, strategic fades, forehand throws, flick putts, and slamming into chains at just the right angle. Many Discraft enthusiasts will have a Zone in their bag as a putter that gets them out of a situation where a flick, or sidearm putt or approach shot is their only option. Being so overstable, this disc can handle the torque that a flick will put on it! The Zone is considered one of the best Discraft Discs available today.

    Brodie Crystal FLX Zone review

I've been using this zone as my main approach disc for over a year now. It started flat but beat in to have a nice puddle top. I play primarily wooded courses, so I use this to get out of any rough lies in the bush. It falls out of the sky and sits with an audible "plop" after a gentle fade when thrown with enough height. I've hade quite a few throw in birdies with it for sure. At first the overstability was a bit much for me, as I was using neutral putters for all approaches prior. It now compliments my Envy for forehand touch shots. I'd recommend this for beginners who are learning shot shaping and need a flick approach disc. It will teach you lots!

This is the best disc in disc golf. There I said it. I have never found another disc that is as good as this disc is. It really OS and that is a good thing. Throwing approaches without this in my bag feels so wrong and I genuinely cant stand playing without one becuase of how comfortable and predictable it is to play with. I STRONGLY reccommend picking one of these up once you understand how to throw upshots and use more OS discs.

EVERY player needs an overstable approach putter in their bag. And to be honest, I don't really think it matters all that much whether it's a Harp, Tactic, Zone, or something else. However, I've only ever owned  softer and very soft beat-in able plastics in those other discs. I know that the Harp also comes in the VIP plastic which will last a lot longer than BT Medium, but it's most stiff. When I got my hands on the Crystal Flex Zone, I fell in love. It can take a beating, but is so comfortable and grippy in the hands. Also, because of it's flexibility it will absorb a lot of the energy into of a ground hit into the disc that it is much less likely to roll and get tons of ground action.

So, if you're looking for an approach disc that is durable, feels great in the hands, and won't get tons of ground action, this is the disc for you! It also might be just a bit more overstable than those other two discs I mentioned. I don't tend to use it as much as I once did now that I have my Berg, but it's still a disc I don't ever see leaving my bag!

Great for approach nice consistent hyzer I have a z line and it still flies very similar to the day I got it. It's great as a driving putter as well and it doesn't turn over to easily which is great when I need it to stay on the same angle. Highly recommend to anyone needing an approach or driving putter.

The Zone is a classic disc that is more of a midrange than a putter.  If you are looking to do putting with the Zone, I would look elsewhere.  This disc will make your approach game better and allow you to hit anything inside 200 ft. Forehand specialists will love this disc as you can throw with a lot of power without turning.  Great for flex shots and spike hyzers.  I find the cryztal flx to be a bit skippy but really like the ESP as it comes in softer.  The metal flake or z line zone are more over-stable almost a bit too much. Flight ratings are accurate. I can't recommend this disc enough to anyone trying to forehand their approach.

Everyone needs a zone, this is hands down the best approach disc from any manufacturer. Out of the box, the Zone flies dead straight with a high level of overstability for a putter. After being beaten in, the Zone losses some of its overstable finish, but retains its dead straight flight pattern. I bag two at all times. One brand new for overstable shots, and one beaten in for dead straight approaches. The flat top and deep but chunky rim this a great backhand as well as forehand disc.

I find the Zone to be an invaluable asset to my short game. I throw it fore hand or backhand for short drives, approaches, and occasionally straddle putt with it on windy days or elevation putts. I've tried them in ESP, Cryztal FLX, Cryztal, Z line, Big Z, Jawbreaker, and X Line soft. My favorites are ESP, Z line, and Cryztal FLX.

If you want the ability to throw a forehand at all, get a Zone.  I have a trash forehand, but I can throw a decent enough one with the Zone.  The overstability really allows you to put this on basically any angle and it will fade out at the end.  For backhand throws, I can get a pretty good flight with a strong fade at the end, but I mainly use this for forehand approach shots or to scramble out after I launch my driver into the woods.  If you ever see a light Zone in stock, get one because they go fast and first and you'll have a hard time finding one less than 165g.

This is the best forehand approach disc I could ever ask for. The plastic feels amazing in the hand and comes out clean 99% of the time. The CRYZTAL FLX plastic is EXTREMELY OVERSTABLE and it can get away from you very quickly. If you leave it up in the air or release it early on hyzer you are going to be left with a bad shot. You need to get this disc out and wide to allow the disc to fade and skip all the way to the basket. I usually throw this disc 40ft to the left of the pin and low so I can get that skip. Make sure to watch out for roots, stumps, or anything else on the ground if you are going for the skip shots. I hardly ever throw this disc at the basket because it is so overstable. I am able to flex it through and around trees BUT I do not use it for anything that needs a straight shot. Within 200ft this disc is money and even if you overcook it a little bit giving it full power it will still fade back out of the turn. Anything beyond 200ft gets a little too inconsistent for me because it is so gummy and overstable. I would advise using a different plastic (Z Line or ESP) if you want to push the disc to 300ft.

Backhand - I don't often throw this disc backhand and there are a few reasons why. When I am within 120ft feet I am jump putting with my Roach or throwing the Zone forehand. Off the tee there are very little situations I could see myself throwing a Cryztal FLX Zone. It is too gummy and overstable for me to get good accuracy with BUT I would throw a Zone in a firm plastic that gives me more control. I have used it for backhand upshots that need to get around obstacles and it does the job, but I use a Buzzz if I can.

Overall the Zone is probably the best forehand approach disc on the market. It comes in many different plastics which will alter the flight characteristics giving you many options to chose from. The Darkhorse Get Freaky Zone gives you an overstable flight path with massive ground play to get to the basket. I would suggest this disc to all players who are looking to improve their upshot game.

The Zone is just a flat out terrific disc. There are so many situations where it shines and there's a place for it in any player's bag, regardless of experience. For the longest time the Zone was the only OS disc I bagged as I was just starting out, so anytime I had to throw a FH shot I'd go Zone and it's still money for FH approach shots. I typically don't like throwing putters BH as many are too deep for my baby hands, but I've found that the Zone is super comfortably for me both FH and BH.

In terms of plastic, I really dig the Zone in Cryztal FLX; not much of a Brody fan, but he chose a solid signature disc. Nice and OS as you'd expect out of a Zone yet grippy and extremely comfortable in my FH grip. My putting putter is a Kastaplast Reko, but there are many times where I'll throw my Zone for a putt that's outside 30ft when it's windy or a death putt situation where I want to avoid missing long and opt to let it hyzer and fade in. Can't recommend this disc enough.

    Believe the hype...

There's definitely a bit of a big name push for this disc between pro players using it and unique/rare stamp releases. That said, it's THE BEST overstable approach putter for my form/style. I tried a decent number, including the pig. None were as effortless as the Zone. I am a big fan of the puddle tops, and truly use this for approaches FH or BH when I'm needed to work a shot around an obstruction.

Simply enough it's incredibly consistent for me, feels like an extension of my arm when it gets released, rarely do I have misfires with this one.

This disc is a cheat code to the sport of disc golf. I use the Z plastic and this disc is my go-to for forehand and backhand approach shots within ~150 ft or so. The overstability of the Z plastic makes it great for skip shots and touchy shots when needed.

Been around disc golf a long time and i have never thrown a zone. Picked up a Crystal FLX Looking for something for a straight to overstable upshot disc for a dominate sidearm player. This thing is Money Played a short course the other day all holes inside of 250 i only used the zone and my putter.

I typically bag three zones in different plastics. Crazy tuff plastic beats in to be straight shooter with a little turn. CryZtal flx has held it's overstability well over the last 6 months, and I have an old esp one that is reliably straight with a strong finish. At the start of my discing career I had to choose between zones and harps. The zone is far more comfortable in my hand.

The Zone is AWESOME. It's one of the few discs that has actually had a substantial impact on my scores. I was lost without a proper approach disc, often leaving myself extra distance or errant shots that would add strokes. But now I'm finding myself within circle 1 (or parked, lol) much more often on approach shots. I find the Zone to be useful in almost every touchy approach situation where you have a little bit of air space to work with, and it's also great for throwing off the tee. It just makes sense in my hand. I can toss it forehand and backhand, either on a spike hyzer or classic fade and it's going to give me a fighting chance.

All in all, if you find your bag having an approach-disc-sized hole in it, try out a Zone. It may not be as good of a match for you as it was for me, but if it is, you'll fall in love.

I have a ledge stone 2020 cryztal flx zone and it is amazing the best forehand approach disc in my opinion. Very over stable approach disc and a very durable approach disc too. I think this is also a very beginner friendly disc to because thrown flat it will go straight for a wile than have a big turn. so a beginner could probably chop off on it a little bit and get it to come back and get some good distance ad control.

I don't know why someone wouldn't carry one of these!!!! This disc is pretty much a sand wedge. It gets you out of trouble and into great positions. Anytime I land in the bushes or behind a row of multiple trees this is my go to disc no matter what the distance. If you play risky and need a disc to when you get into a little bit of trouble this is your disc. I fore hand it and it very consistent. YOU NEED TO GET ONE OF THESE IT IS A GAME CHANGER!!!!!!

Similar to the Harp, the Zone is a very versatile utility disc. I like to use it for windy round putting in general, upshots (in particular forehand upshots) and in those tough scramble shots needed to save par. The crystal flx glo plastic is super grippy and it responds well for accurate shots without troublesome ground play. This disc is slow enough for all arm speeds. From beginners to pros, the Zone is a great disc for any player and it can really open up shot possibilities for any skill level.

Definitely lives up to the 'get freaky' name. Very Overstable but still controllable, can really crank on it and it won't turn over. Quickly becoming my favorite scramble/approach disc. Highly recommend.
