It's mostly the grip for me. I always feel comfortable throwing this disc, and it goes very straight with a bit of fade. I call it old faithful. I started with other midranges (Dynamic Discs Truth, Mako3), but once I tried to roc3 I was hooked. My first one was thrown into a creek but I was grateful to find it two days later. Since then it has become my favorite disc and my most reliable mid range. I thought I would be a Mako3 guy because that's about the straightest disc ever made, but it's nice to have that fade to rely on. I started my nephew with a Roc3 and a Mako3, and he gravitated more toward the Roc3 as well. If you don't have one already, get one. It will become your old faithful as well :)

This disc is my ulimate favorite mid range, and top 3 disc for me overall. This is the most versatile disc in my bag. Whether you plan on throwing it as an appoach disc or a disc on a shorter tee shot, this is the disc you want. It is beautiful for those 200 ish foot shots, where I can pretty easily birdie with a beautiful flight from this disc. I am a primarily forehand thrower, but this disc can work either way. The forehand flight is beautifully straight with a fade long into its flight. It is also a wonderful apporach disc. On forehand approach shots this thing skips forward slightly and the perfect amount, while the backhand appoach shots are just as beautiful and park right where you throw it. This disc is very accurate, and easy for anybody to admire. This disc can also make a pretty decent putter, making this disc so versatile to the point you could use it for an entire round. I recommend getting the champion plastic aswell, as it seems to perform much better than the DX plastic I also own. This is a 10/10 disc that I strongly recommend you purchase.

I use this disc for two shots typically. Shots that I throw straight and then have a strong fade at the end. For me it usually goes abot 220 feet straight and then fades left about 30 feet to the left. The other throw is a hyzer line that goes about 25-30 feet into the air and makes a nice crescent moon shape the entire journey and usally goes aboyt 275 feet. Great all around disc. Would recommend to everyone.

Easily my favorite midrange. I carry 4 of them in my bag in different stages of wear. For me, it gives a nice flip up before having a reliable fade. Not the most torque-resistant disc out there, but it does what I need it to do and I have never thrown anything that I like more.

The OG overstable midrange, the Roc3 was a staple in my bag for a year or more before I moved away from it for other molds to fill that slot. It flies pretty true to the flight numbers and is great for getting around trees or corners, can be used for approaches or off the tee, and haivng used it in both Star and Champion plastic is great in both. I prefer throwing mids that are overstable like this for forehand shots and ultimately found the bead on the disc to be an irritant so went for a beadless alternative. Would highly recommend for backhand use and forehand as well if you don't mind a bead!

I tried to like the Roc3 but it just wasn't for me. I do have smaller hands so that was my first hurdle. Between the depth and the bead it's just too deep for me. I cannot seem to get a consistant clean release on this one. My bigger gripe though is the flight of the disc. It's not at all like the numbers advertise. Could be the specific disc I have but it's really only straight to stable for me. Brand new, it already had a small amount of turn at early flight when released flat. I was really hoping for that 0 turn for making sure it never flipped up, went right, or making sure it held well in the wind but my Roc3 just doesn't have any of that. The fade is where I'm most disapointed. At best I get a gentle fade but most of the time it flies so darn straight all the time. It flys really similar to a Pathfinder for me but with less torque resistance. It's not a BAD disc but it's just not an overstable midrange for me.

The champion roc3 is one of the greatest midranges ever made. The champion plastic takes a very long time to beat in. The roc3 mold starts off fairly overstable and then slowly becomes a very straight mid range with a little fade at the end. It is fairly shallow with a bead which I don't mind at all. It can be used for many different shots and angles. I throw mine for big backhand hyzers, flat to fade shots, and straight flex shots. I will occassionally throw mine on forehand for very straight midrange shots. This isn't a shot I need regularly but can get with the Roc3. I will say though that it is not as overstable as the flight numbers suggest. It is not very torque resistant for forehands so if you do use it for that you will need to have touch and clean form otherwise it will turn and burn. Overall, it is an amazing disc and if you like beaded midranges you have probably already tried one out.

I can't for the life of me figure out why people call this disc a straight flyer when it has a fade rating of three and fades like that suggests. Compare an Innova Mako3 @ 5,5,0,0.

I like the Roc3 for being a slightly overstable midrange. I like it compared to a Buzzz or Mako3 because it is clearly overstable and is a bit more forgiving when it comes to angle control. With more neutral discs like a Buzzz or Mako3, I find that there is more room for error.

I use three Roc3s. Two in champion plastic and one in DX. The champion plastic Roc3s start out decently overstable and take a long time to beat in which means they are reliable for a long time. My beat in champion Roc3 will just pop up to flat and go straight. My other doesn't really turn too much unless there is a headwind. As for my DX Roc3, it is an easy hyzer flip mid. I usually try to throw this disc smooth on a hyzer and it will pop up to flat. Depening on the angle I put it on I can bend it right if I need to as well.

This is my workhorse midrange. At high power it will go straight with a reliable slight fade at the end. At normal power or for upshots its very true to the numbers. It feels comforted in my small baby hand. The champion plastic does have a little skip and some possible roll to it but for the most part it will hit and sit. I use this disc every round at least once!

This is an amazing woods disc as it will fly straight for a very long time. It is very comfortable in the hand and it has a small bead. I would recommend this disc to absolutely everyone, and I've even bought a few to give away to my friends.

The Roc3 is the GOAT of all stable mids. I bag 2, one in star and one in champ. I can trust it all the time in almost all conditions. It handle torque and doesn't mind a touch shot either. I like deeper discs with plenty of space for a wider fan grip and the Roc3 has a very deep rim.

Its not a sexy disc like the TSA fanboys love to throw, but its as old and very easy to find for good prices, which for me means a lot more than being new and flashy.

Its my favorite disc for a reason. Don't over think it and get one.

Super consistent midrange. The bead means it retains it's stability for longer than beadless  mids, and as somebody whose been bagging the same one going on 7 years, I can attest to that. My only complaint is that it feels weirdly flippy for forehand shots, considering how overstable it is for backhand

The Innova Roc3 is one of the most consistent molds I have thrown. From the moment it entered my bag it has been my most thrown disc. As a beginner this disc is much less intimidating than the numbers suggest. It is very stable in flight, not turning over even in fairly harsh headwinds, but is not super overstable and pushes forward instead of dumping out. If there's a shot with wind or a need for a stable finish inside of 300', there's a good chance I'm reaching for my Roc3. If you need an ultra consistent midrange I recommend giving this disc a try.

Not exactly what I've looked for in a mid. Not nearly as oversable as advertised, I know people like cycling Rocs but I find that you'll still need another mold to serve as your overstable option as I wouldn't rate this above a 1 fade. For the most part My Emac Truths are more stable than the Rocs I've thrown and I've had Champ and Halo Roc3s. I also don't really prefer the hand feel, I do have small hands and understand this is personal preference, however it's just too deep for what I like. However I've found that for some reason this depth seems to give it a lot of "forgiveness" I know that's a ball golf term but I feel like even with bad form this disc will fly similar to how it does with good form which is interesting to me and can have its place, but it's just not for me

This is and isn't a beginner friendly disc.

    I'm reviewing a champion roc3.

It's overstable and beats in to be very, very straight.

Beginners like to use this as an approach disc, which I suppose is fine, but you're not getting the true purpose from this disc. On a good rip you can pop this disc out 300-320' with minimal fade. Its very point and shoot if you have the power for it. I would suggest beginners stay away from champ plastic and go with DX or Star to get a better, straighter flight.

I think the glide is a little higher than what's listed.

I bag 2 of them at different stages of wear. My favorite midrange (used to be a buzzz)

The Innova Roc3 is my go-to approach disc for flex target runs and getting a nice fade around obstacles. I've been able to successfully put this disc in the basket from 150 ft. I own one Champion and two DX at slightly different weights. They all fly about the same. I find myself reaching for this disc several times each round I play. I think it's a very beginner-friendly disc and helps in a variety of course situations. I personally think it feels great in my hand and is easy to throw.

Easily one of my favorite discs.

To preface this review I'll start off by making it clear that I am a casual disc golfer, I do not play every single day and I do not shoot 1000 rated rounds, therefore take this review with a grain of salt. However, if you are a novice or casual player like me, you might find this review helpful.
The Innova Roc3 is my personal favorite disc in the Roc family and for good reason. Brand new, this disc is overstable, meaning for right-hand backhanded throwers, this disc will fade significantly to the left at the end of it's flight path. The beaded rim also helps to keep the disc stable for a longer period of time, as stated by Dave Dunipace (Co-Founder and CEO of Innova Discs). Many players bag Rocs in varying stages of wear because of how versatile this disc is. You can have an overstable Roc, a dead-straight Roc and an understable Roc effectively limiting the amount of molds in your bag. Rocs are very workable and can be thrown on many lines and are great for wooded courses. The Roc3 in particular is a little faster than a KC Pro Roc and has more glide and stability as well as less dome. I would recommend this disc for all levels of play. This is a disc you can buy today and have in your bag multiple months to years in the future.

The Roc3 is a solid midrange. It's fairly overstable and can handle some torque from players with bigger arms. The rim is slightly deeper than other mid ranges, or at least it feels that way in the hand to me, so I've had better success using a fan grip with going for distance. A power grip tended to result in a greater chance for grip locks, but that's just me. Many have no issues with the rim depth. I've only thrown the champion plastic. For flight characteristics I find the Roc3 to be pretty straight for the two thirds of the flight, then start a slow steady fade in the last third of its flight. It's more of a forward, smooth fade though, like a more overstable buzzz. I go between the Roc3 and MD4 for my overstable mid, however, I find the MD4 more overstable and a little less glidey than the Roc3. It can handle wind, but I feel a little more confident throwing into a headwind with the MD4. Overall I feel like this is the more versatile choice though

So I expected by the numbers and getting 3 of them in 180g champion plastics they would be stable, I was wrong. I found that even with low power they want to drift over but with high power they turn over a lot. Sidearm is impossible with any power, I even did standstill with all wrist and they still drift over.

If you have low power or like something flippy the Roc3 would work for you since they do have some fade to bring the disc back but if you want something straight then this would not work.

Got a DX Roc3 in my Innova starter pack when I first picked up the sport. As a novice, it quickly became my most trusted disc. I then upgraded to Champion plastic. Despite the 3-rating for fade, I don't feel it's overstable. Over time it's become even less stable, but I still love how it flies. It's my go-to disc 200-250ft. When thrown flat at full power, it flips and turns a little to the right without flexing back much. I usually throw it on a slight hyzer angle at full power, watch it flip to flat and hold the line beautifully, before gently fading with a light skip. At 75% power on a hyzer release it will hold the angle well. I can even throw it on an anhyzer angle and it won't flex out until the very end. I got my first ace with this disc. It will always be in my bag.

I got this as my vacation/travel disc and it flies great. I didn't get as much fade as the numbers and flight path made it seem. For me it flies as a straight disc with just a slight manageable fade. I don't throw it a ton but when I recommend people to start playing I usually throw this disc out as a great midrange to begin with.

Straight out of the box I didn't get the fade I expected out of this disc, even in max weight champion plastic. Thrown flat it turns slightly before a gentle fade. Thrown on some hyzer it flips up and then fades moderately, but I feel that 3 is way to high of a number. It flies almost exactly the same as my Buzzz. My advice would be that if you already throw the Buzzz you don't need to mess with these, go for something more overstable.

After becoming addicted to buying plastic and going through several midranges, the metal flake Roc3 was the first midrange to stay in my bag for a prolonged period of time. Mine was pretty gummy and flat which made it good for both forehand and backhand shots. This is still the longest midrange I have thrown off the tee and the Roc3 is very forgiving if you have a little bit of OAT in your throws. That being said a fade rating of 3 is definitely overstated. If you can throw mids 300+ the Roc3 will have pretty minimal fade if thrown on a lower line. It also manages to fly pretty much the same in a moderate head wind. After losing my gummy metal flake I couldn't find a gummy replacement and ended up removing the Roc3 because I do not like the feel of Champion plastic.

This is my favorite mold of midrange discs so far. I love the flat top, the bead, the flight path... the only thing I dont like about the Roc3 is that the fade is rated as a 3. I have owned a champ roc3 for maybe 4 months and it is already getting flippy. Even when fresh, the fade is more like a 2. Still a great disc but dont expect a harp or zone fade.

Pros: nice and straight, wind resistant

Cons: not good for sidearms, flight numbers not accurate

I really like this disc. My first ROC3 was a purple G-Star that my brother got as a mystery disc, and gave it to me since I had no midrange discs at the time. It quickly became my go to corner disc, giving me a good angle shots with my slower arm speed. It achieves its purpose as an overstable midrange disc for people with slower arms, I'll say that.

But, probably due to getting a higher arm speed and beating the disc up pretty badly with how much I was using it, it became, while not understable, a little bit less overstable. But, with a slight hyzer flip, I could often get it to flip up flat, keep a good line, then slowly fade in. Sadly I lost the disc this winter playing with my brother, but he gave me his green champion ROC3 (not liking how stable/slightly over stable it was). And weirdly enough, it flies like my GSTAR. So I will say that this disc is a good control disc, with reliable fade, despite its fade being less than advertised

I have had a champion roc3 in my bag for a few years now and it is easily one of my most thrown discs. When it was new It carried a good bit of fade at the end of the flight but nothing too crazy overstable. Now being about 5 years old it has broken in to fly dead straight or holding a slight anhyzer the whole flight. Year after year I am impressed with the durability of this disc to only lose a small amount of stability after so long. I have also bagged a metal flake roc3 more recently to replace how my original one flew when it was new. Between the two there isn't too many holes i don't end up throwing a roc3 on.

There isn't a flight I like more than the roc3. You can put any amount of power on this disc as you want and it will always stay true to its flight numbers. This thing will never burn over on a turnover line and will hold hyzers perfectly. My favorite midrange of all time, slightly edging out the Buzzz.

My go to midrange. I mostly carry different rocs in my bag for midrange shots. My roc3 is great and I can be really aggressive with it. I love the added speed, it gives that extra 50 ft. or so to be more useful from the tee box. Because of its consistency I can trust it over and over again even before many other midranges.

The Roc3 is one of the first discs I picked up and it was a great addition to my bag at the time and still now.  I have the Roc3 in DX and in Champion and while there is a large difference in stability, the general flight characteristics of this mold are reliable for someone new to disc golf.

The Roc3 in champion is great for shots that you need a nice straight shot with a predictable fade or for a hyzer shot where you still need the disc to travel without immediately dumping.  After the disc gets beat in, it can be used for controlled turnover shots or shot shaping.  Overall its a great disc to bag for someone learning the game

Changed my midrange usage after getting this disc! Have one in champion plastic and one in metal flake. Got the metal flake one second to have something with a little more fade/hook at the end because the normal champion Roc3 is a very forward flying fade! Love the flight, consistency and feel of the Roc3.

At 4 glide rating it is very predictable and easy to pick a landing spot. The 3 fade is true because I can crank on this disc and it never even thinks about turning but instead just stays straight and finishes left with a forward pushing fade. The metal flake is more of a hooking fade at the end.

My only issue is I really haven't been able to get smooth forehand releases with it compared to my other discs. Not sure if that is just due to the shape/depth of the disc or what but I love it on backhand! Got rid of 3 other mid range molds in my bag after picking this up!

I got my Champion Roc3 in a starter set. I was drawn to the set because I loved the look of the champion plastic. I didn't however like this disc at all. At least initially. Starting out all of my throws had a ton of fade, even if the disc was understable. So for an overstable disc it was fade city. I have since improved and I am able to use the disc effectively. But I wouldn't say this is necessarily a beginner friendly disc. Now that I can use it as intended, it is great for shorter throws that need some fade at the end. As far as feel goes, it's pretty comfortable to throw and the plastic is stiff, but not too stiff. Overall it's a good disc with a that has a place in anyones bag.

I hated this disc when I first got it. It was in my starter set, and as a beginner all of my throws already had a hard fade. However, as I worked with this disc over time, I came to appreciate how versatile it is. I drive with it frequently on technical courses. I can hyzer this around trees, throw it straight for a solid approach, and even putt with it. It is a great disc that I bag on every single course.

This midrange is a very good disc for approaching the circle. It shoots straight at first but then has a slight fade due to its overstability. Its very good for practicing hyzers and angle control for beginners. I would recommend getting it in a champion plastic over any other as it has a better grip than the star but is more durable and glides more than the dx or pro. This disc also has a bead in which you can throw it with either a four finger grip or a putter like grip. I highly suggest throwing backhand on this disc though as it won't probably fit well with most people's hands for a forehand throw. If you want one overstable midrange that can be used in all player levels. I suggest putting the champion roc3 in your bag.

The roc3, for me, has a very slight turn and a moderate fade. It's stable enough that I can throw it for shorter forehand shots. There isn't quite enough stability to throw into a headwind reliably. The champion plastic feels great and is super durable.

    Disc - Champion Roc3, 175

Feel - The roc3 is very comfortable in the hand as it is not super deep and has a nice bead. The bead was fairly noticeable to me early on as I was trying out this disc and then after a couple of rounds with it I realized that the flight was so amazing that I would just need to get used to the feel, which I did fairly quickly. Personally, I was not a huge fan of the feel for forehands, but I've seen people throw them very well with a forehand. The champion plastic, as always, is super durable and provides a great grip as well.

Flight - The roc3 starts out fairly overstable and will have a nice finish at the end of its flight but as it beats in it becomes a very straight flier with a very minimal fade at the end of the flight. The disc with hold any line it is put on and does so very nicely. I love this disc for straight shots in the woods, or more open holes that I need a straight, controllable flight.

Overall - The roc3 is a great mid that I would recommend to anyone that likes the feel and flight of a roc but wants a little more overstability. This is my go to mid for any straight shot around 325 ft and in. I would think that a beginner may want to try out a roc or buzzz for their first mid just because it will help with their form a little more than the roc3 but it is a great compliment to those discs.

I found this disc almost brand new on a local course without a name/number on it. It still had the amazon sticker on it. It isn't leaving my bag anytime soon, and if it does, it's only because I'm getting a new one. I have my mid-ranges in order of understable to stable in this order...Warrant, Buzzz SS, Emac Truth (prime burst), Emac Truth (Lucid), Roc3, Buzzz OS, and Justice. The Roc3 fits right in the middle of that line-up and it's a trusty companion when I want a straight flight with little to no turn and a nice fade at the end of the flight. If I want more glide/distance, I'll go with  my Emac Truth. I just love the predictability of the Roc3 in Champion plastic and unless I finally get sponsored by Dynamic Discs (my favorite disc manufacturer), I'll keep throwing the Roc3!

The Champion Roc3 is easily one of the more flexible discs I have ever thrown. I can take this disc and give it a nice flick and have it slightly hizzer right. Or I can simply launch it off the tee and keep it very stable. This disc is great for anhizzer lines and lay up plays as well as drives off the tee. It has a natural feel in the hand and is perfect for any beginner player. I used this disc when I first started and I still continue to use it off the tea and on the fairway. I personally like it mainly for shots where there are a lot of tree paths involved or simply to lay up to the basket. If you are a more experienced player you can easily drive this disc all the way up to the basket without even having to think twice if the path of the disk will change. It is a very consistent disc to throw and is very predictable when throwing. To me when you think of an all around good disc that you can do whatever you want with and be consistent, this is the disc that comes to my mind. If you are a beginner player that is looking for a stable midrange that you can trust wholeheartedly, then I highly recommend purchasing the Champion Roc3.

I had started out with a DX Roc3 which was always one of my favorites, but it was not overstable enough.  I always assumed that this was because of the DX plastic or because it was well worn.  I bought a 180 gram Champion Roc3 in the hopes it would be more overstable.  It wasn't.  If I throw it with hyzer it will just go dead straight, which is a good thing to have, just not what I bought this disc for.  If I throw it flat it always turns over and it never comes back.  I would recommend this disc for beginners and for anyones first disc.  Overall, great disc, not what I was looking for.  I am going to buy a Star Croc and see if that will turn over and hold it, I will leave a review on that after I try it out for a bit.

In the past I have bagged multiple Roc3s including pros and champion plastics.  My main mid-range for years was a champion roc3 that stayed stable for a very long time.  It does what a roc is supposed to do, go straight.  The only reason I switch from roc3s to regular rocs is due to not being able to find a overstable roc3.  I now bag a fresh roc for my overstable/stable mid range slot, but wouldn't have a problem going back to a roc3 if I could find a nice overstable one.

Roc3s have a great feel in the hand and are nice and flat.

I use this disc for approach shots as it is very accurate at low power.  I do not use many discs with beads, but this one is an exception because it is just too good at consistently landing right where I need it.  Once you figure out the fade you are good to go.

The champion Roc3 is perhaps the best overall midrange disc I've tried. It has a very neutral flight without being flippy. The Roc3 has no high speed turn, which I love. I can rip the disc hard and flat without worrying about it bleeding right or flipping. It'll fly flat and dead straight for most of the flight before a good late fade.

The Roc3 is extremely reliable and steerable. It isn't super floaty, and won't go awry on you. It does well in all wind conditions, though I wouldn't necessarily rip the Roc3 into a decent headwind.

I HIGHLY recommend this disc to anyone wanting a staple mid in their bag. I can rip the Roc3 VERY accurately out to about 350'. It lands softly and always leaves you in putting range on reachable par 3s. The champion plastic is wonderful and doesn't wear out. The flight of the Roc3 won't change dramatically over time in this plastic.

Overall this disc is about as vanilla as you can get with a mid. Nothing dramatic. Just great performance.

I’ve been throwing the Roc3 since it came out and it has changed my midrange game. I bag 4 of them ranging from straight to flippy but the champ ones are my favorite. Super straight when beat in a little bit with reliable finish to the left. The bead is comfortable in the hand for the grip I use (fan grip, power grip does not feel the most comfortable with the bead) and I can get a clean release. A 3 fade high for this disc, it’s more of a 2 at most and a 1.5 when nice and seasoned

I have found that the Roc3 will hold whatever line I put it on. The Roc3 has been a great addition to my bag. It's slightly flatter and more stable than my DX and KC Pro Rocs, and so fills a slightly different slot. Especially since this comes in Champion plastic, it keeps its stability longer and is just another great option and feels great in the hand.

Flight: The Roc3 is true to it's name and flies similar to the Roc. It flies straight and is dependable. It has a solid soft fade at the end. It is very controllable and you can craft it on many different lines and it will stay true to that line.

Use: What can't you use a Roc for? The Roc3's flatter top and more stability makes it great for those shots you have to put a little bit extra oomph into and you don't want it to turn as much. The one I have now has soft fade, so it's good when I want to pipe one down the middle and then gently fade down. Great for tunnel shots and longer approaches.

Summary: I'm a big fan of the Roc3. I love Roc's in general though, so this was just a slight modification to a disc I think is already great. I definitely recommend grabbing a Roc3 and learning to throw it well and it will serve you well for a long time.

If I had to play an entire tournament with one disc, it would be a Champion Roc3. Hands-down, no questions asked. Out of the box, these things can be pretty overstable, depending on the plastic, but that just allows for the most pure flex shots a midrange can allow. As they age, they become more and more neutral, but even my oldest and most beat up Roc3 (of which I have 10) will still not turn over even if I power up significantly on it. This disc will get better as you do, and I highly recommend picking one up early on.

The Roc3 is a bit faster, less, glidey, and flat top version of a regular Roc. If you like the feel of a lower profile this could be a great midrange for you. The flight is a tad faster, really taking power a little better then a normal Roc, but on the flip side, it doesn't offer the glidey goodness of DX and KC Pros. The Roc3 is a disc that could fill all your midrange needs with different stages of wear.

Love this disc! I throw KC pro rocs for most of my midrange shots, but my champ roc3 comes out when I need a stable midrange with less glide. It does a great job of handling torque and staying straight without flipping over, and doesn't fade hard. It doesn't get used a lot but I know I can trust it when I need it. One word to describe this disc is trustworthy. I would give it 5 stars if I found more uses for it, but it gets 4 stars because it does everything I need it to to perfection.

The Champion Roc3, this disc has been in my bag since I started playing 3 years ago. It is one of the most consistent mid ranges I've thrown. The champion plastic seems to hold its stability really well. I've got a few that are seasoned into perfectly straight fliers. Even though they are seasoned they still have a small amount of fade at the end of the flight. I like to bag a new champion roc3 for straight to overstable shots, a seasoned one for straight to stable shots, and then 2 DX roc3s, one that just flies straight and finishes straight and another that's understable that turns over. The Champion roc3 can handle a good bit of power. If I need a straight controlled shot to go about 300'-315' I'll grab a roc3. There's a reason this disc is so popular. If you haven't tried one yet you should.

I've thrown many different Roc molds and never connected with them too well. Personally I prefer a disc to be beadless which is why I have chosen the Shark & Shark3 over the Roc3. The Roc3 however is a very fast, stable midrange. You can really put some power into a new Roc3 and it'll handle it every time. The bead on the bottom ensure a long life span and keeps the Roc3 stable for longer compared to it's beadless brother the Shark3. I have found through a lot of testing however that the Shark3 starts off more overstable when new, but beats in faster due to no bead. If you prefer flat topped, beaded midranges the Roc3 is pretty much the industry standard. As these beat in they become some of the most money throwers out there. Super straight and reliable flyers.

There are a lot of great mid-ranges out there, but I think the Roc3 is the best mid-range ever made. I carry 3 in my bag, 2 DX McGlow Roc3’s and a champion Roc3. The champion Roc3 has the perfect amount of glide and stability. Throw a hyzer, it will hold a hyzer without dumping out. Throw it straight and it will hold straight most of the way before it finishes left. I love the McPro Roc3’s because after a couple weeks it beats in and flies dead straight. I have one Mcpro that is more beat in that I use for straight to understable shots and one that is a few months old that will hold any line I put it on. If I need to execute a straight shot from 200’, I will grab my McPro Roc3 without hesitation.

I will always keep a Roc3 in my bag, it is my go to for controlled 200' throws that I want planted. The flight rating is spot on and even as this disc has taken its fair share of tree hit, it still remains my most reliable midrange. I've used it for a single disc round twice and I always do great! Throwing a forehand can be a little tough to get enough spin on the disc, but if you can really put a strong flick on the disc, it flies beautifully!

I have a champion gummy Roc3.  It is one of my go to midranges.  It flies so predictably straight and I love it.  I have a DD Verdict that is just a touch more stable.  I really recommend both of those discs.  The Roc3 is more stable than an Emac Truth by a little and less stable than a Verdict by a little.  I think if you wanted to go all Innova for your mids then grab: Gator, Roc3, Mako3, and a Panther and you'd be set.

I really like this disc.  I'm a big fan of using OS discs for almost all of my midrange shots, and this disc can be used for them all.  I can throw it straight, with a little hyzer, and even forehand flick it to get the shot I need.  Get a Roc3 today!  I recommend at least one champion Roc3, as it will hold its dependable flight characteristics for a long time.

I throw my 176g Champion Roc3 for just about every shot where my target is 100-200 ft away, and sometimes for closer "utility" shots. If you rip it, it flies very straight, with a medium-large fade at the end. It has the ability to travel well over 300 ft.

The bead on the rim took me some time to get used to, but I have grown to like it. The disc is comfortable in your hand and feels easy to control.

My personal favorite utility is the ~50 ft shot around an obstacle. I throw RHBH and love to release it at head level (or even slightly above) at an anhyzer angle. It will turn around an obstacle reliably and then stabilize itself for a beautiful, soft, floating landing.

The Innova Roc3 is the midrange everyone has pretty much heard of at this point as it has Paul McBeth's signature slapped on it as well as offered in 2 specialty tour series plastics. It features the Innova "3" top which is very flat and a medium sized bead on the rim. It's feel in the hand is very comfortable as the rim size and flat top make the disc slot right into place for backhand, and while workable note quite as comfortable for forehand. The Roc and Roc3 like many Innova molds can be fine tuned to your liking by adjusting the plastic type and weight, and due to it having the 3 top in the mold is generally consistently very flat.

The Roc3's strengths lie in it's consistency and ability to shape shots/ hold lines. Out of the box your Roc3 will generally have a consistent finish to it after a very straight flight and as it wears it will iron itself out into one of the straightest flyers on the market and when it hits that magical state of wear you can make this disc do anything. They handle power very, very well especially in the Champion plastic and can consistently be cranked on for distance that rivals that of slower fairway drivers. The Roc3 is also surprisingly fast, and I generally reserve it to driving duty or skipping/ground action shots since it has a pretty good amount of carry to it and can easily blow past a basket if you aren't careful. The Roc3 handles some wind, but generally speaking is prone to being blown around in a headwind and probably will not cut it as a dedicated wind fighting mid which is one of it's few flaws.

The Roc3 is somewhat beginner friendly assuming you pick up the correct one and have a little athletic expierence. The Roc3 in lower weight DX plastic is extremely workable and will break in fast to a super straight flyer and as your skill improves you can bump up the weight/plastic stability to keep that same flight. So if you make the purchase smart you could argue it will work well for beginners.

Midranges are tough to rank, it is a class like distance drivers where people fall into camps and generally stick to their feelings one way or another. The Roc3 holds its own and stamps a solid place in the field as a versatile bomber of a midrange. If you haven't already fallen into one midrange camp or another and need a bomber of a midrange the Roc3 will not disappoint and earns itself a solid 4/5 stars.

This disc is amazing! I will admit that it took me awhile to gain an appreciation for this disc but Im glad I stuck with it. At first it was very stable and I had other midranges that were more effective at what I needed. After a few months I started throwing the Roc3 more and have loved it. It has become a disc that I can throw out to about 380' on a very reliable straight to slight fade line. Highly recommend it but it might take some getting use to.

I was looking for a friendly disc for the in between! Where a driver would be not needed and not close enough to putt. So I bought this disc because it felt great in the hand and it does exactly what I need. Perfect for putting and throwing straight. Will fade towards the end but is very manageable!

Roc3s are really useful for holes that have a substantial dogleg or curve in the fairway. I use a StarRoc3 and a McBeth Champion Roc3, that I love. After a year of heavy use (most approach shots), the Star material is noticeably a little more understable.

I find that the disc hardly turns at all, even when really thrown hard, just like the ratings suggest. The fade is consistent, and skips typically happen on dry, smooth surfaces. Forehands are pretty easy with this disc, due to a fairly flat top. If your angle of release is inconsistent, you will end up with a straight flight when thrown on a slight hyzer, or a right-turning flight if thrown flat, so the disc is fairly forgiving on long, right-turning holes.

The Champion and Star materials work really well, and hold up to the abuse of hard landings or tree hits. Both are 180g, and stand up to the wind well as a result. The Champion material does not dent or notch. Star is similar but marks a little easier. The discs both hold up extremely well to heavy use. Easily, they are two of the best discs in my bag, and taught me a lot about planning shots.

The Champion and Star Roc3s I bag are extremely similar. It is to the point where I do not really care which one I reach for, but they both always finish left for me. Whenever I need to throw a 200-300 foot shot that either is an anny flex line, or I just need it to finish left, I reach for one of these two discs. Beginners will probably have a hard time getting this disc to do what they want it to, but many beginners just want their discs to go straight. This is not the type of shot you throw a Champion or Star Roc3 for. They are nice and stable and will go straight for me and finish softly to the left when thrown hard into a headwind.

I actually bag 3 types of Roc these days and my Champion Roc3 is one of my favorites. It has a reliable left dump at the end of the smooth flight when I throw it RHBH. I have had some AMAZING scrambles made possible with a 176g Roc3. The Champion plastic beats in slower, so even on heavily wooded technical courses like Shady Oaks, a few unfortunate tree kicks won't ruin the flight characteristics. If I was forced to throw only ONE midrange mold for the rest of my life, I would pick the Roc3 without question.

In my opinion the Innova Roc3 is a super consistent disc with a great feel.

I would definitely recommend this disc to those looking for a consistent over stable midrange.

To me the one thing this disc lacked was a little bit of glide and that's the only reason it's not in my bag. I felt the EMac Truth was a better fit for my game. I could get the Roc3 out to 300 ft on a regular basis where my average distance with the EMac truth was 330-340 ft.

This is a great compliment to the standard Roc. My Roc is in DX and my Roc3 is a champ, so they fly quite differently. The Roc3 definitely has that added speed and mine is quite overstable. It holds up very well in windy conditions, and can handle a sidearm pretty well too. I like the added durability of champion plastic as well, because it seems I'm throwing in heavily wooded courses more often than open ones. Not the best beginner mid-range, but I would recommend it to people who have been around the game for a little while.

I got the Roc3 because I loved the original star Roc I had. I didn't see how the discs would be much different other than I would have one that went further. I just never could get this disc figured out. It felt okay in the hand, really not any different than my star Roc, but I just couldn't get to a point of liking it.

The disc is a pretty overstable mid, so if you have the need for that shot in your bag this has the potential to be a great choice. There are a lot of people out there who love the disc, it just wasn't a great choice for me.

I have 3 of these in my bag because they are the best mid range you could ask for.  Depending on what year they were made in they fly differently.  I have a yellow proto star first run that is flat on top and it is for straight shots and hyzer shots.  The other two or more straight to understable.  They hold whatever line they are given so better make sure you aim the right way.  I started playing competitively this year and ever since i was recommended to use this they have been money.  Have one ace with one and i rattle the chains all the time with my proto.  The best mid range you can throw thats out there in my opinion.  Wish i would have started on this.

This is my go to mid range disc.  I stick to 180gram max weight work horses.  I typically bag 2-4 depending on the course I am playing.  I can do almost anything with these discs that i need to.  Hyzer, hyzer flip to flat, flat, and anyhyzer flex.   I haven't gotten any of my ROC3's beat to the point of turning over, which is why i still carry at least 1 well worn in KC Pro or Mako3.  This is a great all around disc.  Newer players should probably look for one in the high 160gram range, as the 180gram one's brand new are pretty stable.

The Roc3 is if not the best midrange currently out on the market one of the best there is to offer.  The Roc3 can fill any gap in your bag depending on whether you want a straight up work horse like the max weight 180g or a nice straight flying midrange like a 165-170g.  If you are looking for something a little bit straighter flying I would recommend either a Mako or a Mako3 since the Roc does have some stability to it.

Not my favorite midrange. I have a 3x champ roc3 in 174g. It's stable, and that's why I got it. It will hold up to even the stiffest winds and maintain a reliable hyzer line when thrown backhand. I cannot throw this disc forehand at all. Something about the lip makes it useless for forehands (for me). It's also slick as far as grip is concerned. I have difficulty throwing it the same way twice, which is not confidence inspiring. For reliable, confidence inspiring midrange shots, I prefer the Truth.

I don't find they fly to the fight numbers suggest.  My 170 flies straight with no fade kind like a Mako.  My 180 has just a bit of fade at the end of its flight maybe a 1 fade or so.  I find the 180 Roc3 and my Champ VRoc fade about the same.

This is by far Innova's  best all around midrange.  I still think the Panther is a better beginner disc right off the shelf as far as driving goes.  However the roc3 is more versatile and a better all around driver upshot disc to progress with.  Refrence the age old rocs are the most cyclic discs out there. I'm of the school that beginners should start out only throwing putters and mids and not ruining themselves on high speed drivers.  This is a great disc to bag for that reason.  The only problem I have is the bead, while it works well for control on an upshot or long putt it can get uncomfortable for me with such a deep rim and my small hands.  If you're like me you may want to find a similar disc to carry for drives that is beadless.

What is there to say that hasnt already been said or seen?  Its a Roc3.  Probably the commonly "cycled" mid next to the KC Pro Roc.  If you play enough, you can beat some champion Roc3s in enough to have everything from OS, straight to slight fade, to turnover shots covered.  In Champion plastic itll take a long time to beat it in enough for it to be a turnover disc though, one could compliment a couple champs with a star or even DX.  This mold is money.  And McBeast throws them... so for some people that will have them sold.

Note: My absolute go-to disc for backhand throws is the McPro Roc 3.

The Champion Roc3 is a reliably stable disc for newer players. It handles torque well and reliably fades. Bigger arms can get this disc to turn or hyzer flip before fading back. The DX and McPro versions are straighter out of the box and have less fade. If you can pick up a McPro Roc3, do so. Those discs are absolutely perfect.

A champion Roc3 was one of the first discs I bought, before I understood what numbers meant. It was the only disc that I bought that first day that stayed with me. It's a great disc.

Thrown hard it goes straight with a slight fade, thrown firm and fluid it has a consistent moderate fade. It's a disc I learned, and came to rely on.

In the "roc v buzzz" fight I will continue to roll my eyes and say it's "roc v Wasp" and there is no winner. Both discs are great, and at least for me they are interchangeable. I get a bit more distance from my Wasp and a touch more fade from my roc3. The only reason I bag the Wasp over the Roc3 is I bag only pink discs and my Wasp is pink.

You can't go wrong with either disc. I'd recommend a Roc3/Wasp to anyone. Whatever one you pick, you can't go wrong.

The Roc3 is a wonderful controllable midrange disc. I have thrown it in both DX and Champion plastic, and the disc had an easily shapeable flight path in both plastics. While I do on occasion turn over these discs on some of my more powerful throws, I can more often gets a straight flight and a reliable fade.

The Roc3 was not the first midrange I threw, but I wish that it had been. It promotes throwers to really shape flights. It might seem a bit too overstable to some, but that should just promote learning and growth in their game.

I use this disc on a tricky island hole at one of the local courses here for a skip shot off the pavement and it gives a consistent skip each time. I appreciate this disc’s ability to listen to me, and it will always be in my bag.

When watching tournament coverage on The Spin TV channel on youtube (was not paid to say that :) ) I would always here the announcers commenting on Paul Mcbeth's Roc3. At the time I was new to the game and all I knew was that Paul McBeth was good, and he threw a Roc3 pretty consistently. So that meant the Roc3 must be a good disc as well. At the time all I had in the bag were straight or understable midranges like the DD Truth or the MVP Axis. I decided to give the Roc3 a go. I havent looked back since.

If I could play a round with just one disc, it would probably be the Roc3. its got enough fade that you can throw it pretty hard and it will still come back or at least stay dead straigh till the very end. When I put a lot into it it goes straight and has a tiny fade at the end, but it never flips. Sometimes I wish it was a little more overstable on faster throws, but thats a job for something like the Verdict. The glide on this disc is awesome. One of my favorite throws on my local course is a big anhyzer around a mando tree. I consistently use the Roc3 because I know it will come out of it and glide straight for days. I even won a long drive comp on that whole simply because of the sweet hang time the glide gave it. All in all I think this Paul McBeth stamped disc deserves the endorsement. It will be hard to get mine out of my bag.

P.S. get it in champion plastic. That way it will be awesome forever!

I have really liked the Roc series. Currently I throw both the Roc3 and the VRoc. The Roc3 is a great addition to any bag. I currently carry a max weight in champion plastic. It has a nice feel to it's grip and has a nice release. I use this for anything that I want to finish fading hard left at the end of the flight. This is anything between 200-275 feet. I still save my midrange big hyzers for my Titanium Drone, but if I am wanting that strong fade with some of the spice taken out of it, the Roc3 is the way to go.

If you love the Roc but are looking for something a little faster and something that will give you a little more distance right out of the box, a Roc3 is a great choice. In the champion plastic, the Roc3 has great grip and its flight pattern lasts longer than a dx or kc pro roc. I have had a roc3 for about a year now and its flight has just recently changed. Now it is dead straight with barely any fade at the end. I pair it with a couple kc pro rocs and my mid range game is great.

The  Roc3 has exeptional grip for superior control, complimented by great glide for easier distance. When thrown flat and hard it  goes straight with a tapering hyzer finish. It will hold a straight line, resisting turn, even in a moderate headwind.  It is straight and predictable, with a nice fade at the end of its flight. The Roc3 also has a faster flight speed which makes it good for low ceiling shotsin my opinion everybody should have one in the bag!

The main thing I love about this disc is it holds the line you give it perfectly, just like the original Roc, except this seems to glide and carry easier. It is a great straight shot disc, but I also will use it at times for a shorter big hyzer shot. Like I said, this is my number one disc, and I can't imagine heading to the course without it.

I rarely throw it at full power, but a new one will make a little S curve whereas a broken-in version will finish right.  Once you get the hang of the Roc3, you'll probably fall in love with it.  Or, you'll find you like the Buzzz better.  There are many arguments on the internet over which one is better.

Solid mid range in line with most Rocs.  Not as overstabled as you would think.  Does like to get flippy a bit with some good power and/or wind.  Although it is a solid mid range, it does not really do anything other discs do not do.  I find the Discraft Wasp to be a much more predicatble overstable driver, and the Roc/Buzz combo better for straighter flights.  It just does not do what one would hope.

Now it does have a fade at the end, as mentioned in other reviews.  But with a decent power shot, the fade is only at the very end, making it a strange flight and not suited to straight or hyzer shots.  The other discs I mentioned do what this is supposed to do better.

this is a great disc. i do not recomend it for beginners tho because the disc is very overstable and takes alot of speed to keep it in line. but once u learn this disc its a straight flyer! this is my most overstable midrange and if thrown at a lower speed it does act very overstable but if thrown fast this thing is as straight as an arrow. I really like this disc. I use it every round guarenteed. i dont know why they keep naming thing Roc tho. Classic Roc, Roc (speed 4), Roc3 VRoc... come up with a different name Innova! Quit milking the name.

Though it does have its fade at the end of its flight, the Roc3 is very accurate for both sidearm and backhand. Wouldn't leave home for a round without it.

My roc of choice. Every bag needs a roc.

I bought this disc expecting it to fly like my dead-straight dx roc (may it rest in peace).  Naturally, I was initially quite disappointed, as the champ roc3 has a healthy amount of fade on the end of its flight (nothing extreme, but it's there).  However, once I accepted that this wouldn't be a lazer straight disc, I began to appreciate the usefullness of its late fade for helping my approaches to stop and drop at the basket or allowing me to slowly hyzer around a corner.  Heavier weights are required if you want it to hold up to a wind though

180G Roc I believe is a champion plastic Roc3 flies straight and has great amount of fade near the end great for upshots that finish right for me with my LHBH throw.  Have saved plenty of strokes pulling this out instead of a fairway driver with more turn or more fade out.
