Surprised how understable the DX Roc3 is.

    I'd call the flight numbers 5, 4, -2, 1.

Definitely won't fill the slot it was purchased for.

Feels good in the hand. Smooth release. Just way flippy.

A great midrange for all angles.  This was my old goto mid for the longest time before I finally gave in and switched to the Buzzz.

The cliche "Holds any line you put it on" rings very true for this workhorse.  However, I had trouble sidearming this one because of the bead on it.  I prefer beadless mids and discs in general for a clean release feel on flicks and backhands.

IIts all preference though, as is any aspect of this wonderful game we play called disc golf.  And their are multiple world champions who swear by it, so I cant speak against that.  I just prefer the Buzzz myself.

Got this in a starter set (150g), and it flew very well for me as a beginner. It has worked well for family members and friends, too, for whom drivers have tended to be a bit much to manage. The drawback to this particular disc has been the light weight: It's overly affected by wind and the torque of faster throws now that my son and I have gotten more experienced with the sport. I think a heavier version would be more in step with our present capability and shot needs. The DX plastic generally feels good in the hand, though, as I've seen with all the others from that same DX starter set, it sure takes a beating rather quickly relative to higher-grade plastics. I've only got a couple midranges right now, and they are a tad understable, so I think I'd like to replace my lightweight DX Roc3 with a heavier Star or Champion version to provide an overstable option to slowly beat in. I'm pretty confident that that will fill a good niche in my bag.

Purchased before I had ever played a round or thrown a golf disc, I feel like I lucked out in choosing this disc as a complete beginner. Two months later with several rounds of play and twice as much field practice, this disc has become a reliable go-to so much so that I purchased a second one (in DX plastic like the first) for the bag as the original beats in. I can see purchasing a third in champion plastic.

As a brand-new player at 50+ years old, this disc was valuable for providing feedback on my progression in proper throwing and gaining arm speed.  Early on, I could only throw it out to about 100 feet (~30 meters) when released flat and it would want to fade out quickly.  I knew I was getting better when flat releases with the Roc3 went straight further before fading out.

My arm speed has improved but is probably considered slow in the world of disc golf.  As I write this review, my max distance with anything on a flat with no wind is 250 feet/~76 meters.  With this and based on what I've read from other reviews and watched in review videos from people much more experienced ... this disc is between stable and over stable.  I've done freestyle Frisbee in the past, so while I don't have arm speed, I am able to control release angles fairly well.  I can rely on the Roc3 to fade out at the end when thrown flat or on a hyzer and it will fight to flat out of an anhyzer release.  It does not fight out as quickly as my Harp but faster than my Shark.  I've tried to use it to bend around corners with slower, higher hyzers and I'm already wanting something more over stable to give more curve for when I throw myself behind a wall of trees.

This has become my go-to approach disc for anything inside of 180 feet (~55 meters) requiring a hyzer fade into the target.  It is dependable and consistent.  If I want to go straight at the target (and gain a bit of distance with a slight S-curve) I can release it on anhyzer, let it fight back to flat, with a slight fade on the end.  It will not fight out of a steep anhyzer, but to me steep anhyzers are not the purpose of this disc.  It will also continue to be a valuable practice aid and measuring stick.  I'll know my arm speed is approaching average when I can throw this out to 300 feet (~91 meters).

Five stars - I've already purchased a second one and contemplate adding a third in champion plastic. I'm comfortable recommending this to new players who are serious about improving their technique and using this as a measuring stick for arm speed.

I find this is a great beginning disc, fade is great on the disc it has a great natural feeling to the throw. I would not recommend this disc for a first mid range but definitely for a 2 or 3 I would recommend the wombat as a great starting mid rage because it is very predictable and easier to use.

I really enjoy this disc and find it helpful to have for my game. I have two in DX plastic and one has beaten pretty quickly, making it nicely understable. The other one is less beat up so it flies straight with a stable flight path.

The Roc3 was one of my very first discs, received as a a Christmas gift in an Innova starter pack.  I can safely say that the Roc3 was the disc that got me hooked on disc golf.

The Roc3 is pretty much a classic point-and-shoot midrange with a reliable fade at the end of its flight. In my opinion, every disc golfer needs a disc like this.  It's perfect for short drives off the tee pad, or any approach shot that has a clear hyzer line. If I have a wide open shot within 250-200 ft, the Roc3 is my go-to disc.

The DX plastic beats in extremely quickly, but the Roc3 has remained a pretty consistent flyer for me.  I recommend this disc to all players and especially new players learning the sport.

The Roc3 is my favorite midrange disc, and has been a go-to since I started playing disc golf. I love it in the Star plastic, but also use a Champion Roc3 from time to time. When I first got into disc golfing, I was rocking a DX Roc3 but eventually decided to plastic up because it's such a critical disc choice in my game. Its glide is wonderful, and this disc is a utility knife in the woods. Solid for drives and approach shots, I find the rim comfortable in my hand for forehands and backhands. The disc fades very predictably at the end of its flight path. I prefer a heavier (180ish) gram Roc3 and use this disc probably more than any other.

This disc is a staple in my bag. i run 4 of them all in DX or KC PRO running from beat in and understable to brand new and stable to overstable. the Roc3 is a beaded midrange which really allows me to snap it hard and it can still have the torque resistance to spin flat and not get too wobbly. RHBH this disc thrown on the smallest amount of hyzer with snap up flat and ride that line for what feels like forever. As an intermediate to advanced player the Roc3 will carry about 280-300 feet before it starts to reach its mellow fade.  i would say the numbers are a little closer to 5/4/0/2. i Cant recommend the roc mold enough to anyone learning the game. This disc is the perfect representation of stable and will be a reliable flight in your bag

DX Roc3 - decided to give it a shot after seeing JC shred courses with it, but i was underwhelmed. I had had a Champ Roc3 in the past that I also wasn't super enthused about either. Something about this disc doesn't work for me. It doesn't fly according to it's numbers IMO (even brand new) and I find it to be inconsistent for me. Strange thing is, I haven't had the same issue with my KC Roc. I'd say don't go into this disc expecting it to be overstable for anything but premium plastic.

It would make a good mid for a beginner, however.

This is the straightest disc in my bag. Holds the line up to 300ft before any kind of fade. Love the stability of the dx plastic

This disc is a good starting mid-range for beginners. It flights fairly straight and holds that line for a good distance before it starts fading strong. I really like this disc for 200 ft shots that need to hook left gradually through the shot (I'm a RHBH thrower).

I picked up one of these in DX plastic and it flies nothing like its numbers say it should. That doesn't stop it from being one of the best flying discs I have. Great for super easy flex shots that get a surprising amount of distance

Each disc is pretty unique. I've had them fly all types of ways for me. One thing I did notice is that the DX Glow plastic seems to be consistent. I have purchased two in this plastic and both of them have a consistent straight to fade. Some of the others I have tried were far too understable. Try a few out and see which ones work for you.

I bought two of these and I knew I would need some discs for water shots. The first one I bought was wonderful and overstable, did everything I needed it to. The second one was absolutely stable, dead straight. Backhand and forehand I could not get this thing to fade. Not sure if this is only with the DX plastic, but  I was very dissappointed with the differences in the 2 discs. If they go back on sale the next time I head to Maple hill, I will definitely try more and see if I can find more consistency with it. Overall, If I had to choose an overstable approach/midrange, I would rather use the drone or the Harp. Both of those discs refuse to turn over, where with the roc this is not the case.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a dx roc3 immediately. I will never not bag one.

Fantastic dx plastic on a fast reliable mold makes it a grippy workhorse.

    Holds lines beautifully.

Doesn't beat in too quickly despite the base plastic.

You can find them booooard flat boarderline puddle top for best relsults

With the recent news from the McPro himself I decided that it is probably best to try and find a roc3 that has a similar grip to McPro, will break into a perfect hyzerflip/ straight/ turn over midrange, and won't break the bank like trying to track down a McPro Roc3 might. I throw champion Roc3s as my straight to slightly overstable mids and McPros for my dead straight to trun over mids. I decided to try the DX and I'm glad that I did. They have the same grip and feel as McPro and they were surprisingly stable. Even after a few rounds with one in my bag it still finishes to the left and shows no sign of turn over yet. For those McPro throwers definitely take a look at the DX roc3.

Not the flashiest disc in the bag, but the Roc3 is probably most important in mine. Stays straight for the flight then fades predictably. Reliable is a good word to describe the Roc3. I grab this disc in plenty of situations, especially when I'm not sure what else to throw.

this disc does exactly what it says it does when you throw it right it will go a good ways and fade back every time but if you throw it too hard it will turn over and go straight into the ground. it would be good for beginners who dont throw very hard to learn with

The DX Roc 3 is the newest addition to my bag and will stay in for along time. I currently bag 2 of them with 3 as back ups. One at 177 and one at 174 for hyzer flips. So much glide to these things. You can hyzer flip, have them hold a long hyzer or even in a backwind bomb them out there. I also use this discs for almost all my approach shots from 150-300 feet out. If you are looking for a disc that is reliable in the woods this one is for you. Advanced players will love them for control and new players will like them for there reliability.

I use a 180g Roc3 DX and it has become my go-to BH mid-range.  It comes out of my hand fast and straight, then glides out with a predictable fade - every time!  The max weight really fights the wind well too.  I've tried it a few times with a FH throw with limited success, so it is solely used for BH throws requiring some fade.
