My Star Boss is easily my most consistent disc. I bag 2 at the moment .

173g Star plastic I can consistently throw 400 foot bombs wind or not. Just release the disc flat and it will hold it's line 300+ feet before its reliable fade once it slows down. I'm on my 3rd star boss in my 12 years of playing. If you think the star boss is too stable then wait till it's beat in. Star plastic can take a beating.

172g pro plastic. This disc was quite a surprise to me, right out of the box it's perfect, flies like a beat in star plastic. After a year it's a great hyzer flip disc that you can trust in the wind. Pro actually feels better than Star to me, just not near as tough.

I have 2 of these discs, a blizzard and a star. For the star one it feels OK in the hand. On backahnd i typically throw this on slight anhyzer and it goes around 120-130meters (360-400ft). I highly reccomend this plastic

The blizzard one is among the most overstable discs i have ever thrown, even when thrown on a strong anhyzer angle and full power it fights back. It averages 5-10 meters shorter due to this but i probablly just got a outlier. Still a great disc

I don't know if I just got a bad disc, but my star boss is the most overstable disc I own. I have tried to beat it in and it still is more stable than my ape. I can get big drives off the tee with big forehand anhyzers but for the most part, the overstablility limits it's use.

The innova Boss is a bomber in star plastic, fairly overstable when new, but when it gets beat it gets real straight with a good bit of turn. Needs a lot of fairway for the true flight, but can get crazy distance. I mostly throw mine forehand on a little hyzer and it flips right up and just goes. The champion plastic is a good bit more stable, when thrown with a touch of anhyzer will glide for days before dumping back out.

The Boss has become my go-to distance driver for both backhand and forehand. They have the speed and torque resistance, similar to a destroyer, but have the capability to go much futher. I throw them a comfortable 375ft flat with a hyzer finish. They hold up relatively well into headwinds and if you get yourself a lighter weight one, have some absolute crusher discs!

I currently bag two of these and use them for anything I need a reliable fade on. A nice complement to my Star Destroyers, these have harder fade and big skip. Not sure how they're so glidey, but I get a lot of distance out of these that I don't get out of similarly stable Destroyers.

An absolute bomber disc for those who have the speed to throw it. The world record is still held by this showing it has some crazy potential.

If you are a beginner do not try and throw this if you would like any distance. The boss is the original 13 speed disc and for good reason, this thing will dump off very quick. I don't have the backhand at this time for the boss but after trying it out for a while I think I will stay with a wraith and destroyers for backhand drives. I do have a strong forehand and I really enjoy throwing my boss.

I started with two, star bosses, the first was very beat in and actually pretty understable. My other that is still in my bag is an absolute overstable meathook. I love throwing this thing if I need a dead straight line for a little bit and then a hard right hook (playing right-hand forehand). I was given the first so I can't comment on beating in however the newer one has stayed with the same flight for quite a while after hitting plenty of trees.

I have thrown the boss in many different plastics, each plastic makes it vary a little but star plastic has the most consistent flight to it. Brand new, this discs is very overstable, at least the runs that I have had. I can always trust it to fade at the end of the flight and fight through almost all winds. After awhile, the Boss likes to flip a little bit, but still hold that consistent flight. If you do not have much distance or power, I would shy away from the Boss. It is a very wide rimmed disc and takes a lot of speed to get up to power, it is a 13 speed. Overall, a Boss always finds it's way into my bag and it is something I have always found myself to be pretty comfortable with, so if you are looking for a new distance driver, give the Boss a try.

The boss has been a disc that has gone in and out of my bag for a while now. I can throw about 400 feet, and the boss will definitely give me that extra bit of speed and distance, but the rim is pretty big. It isn't the most comfortable feel on the hand due to the large rim size, and I think you may be sacrificing a bit of control for distance if you don't have huge hands. Overall I? think it's a great disc, and if you have the arm for it you can some massive D out of this disc.

I found some version of this disc to be useful from the time I was new to disc golf all the way up to my current level of play. When I started playing, I had a 320 ft forehand and about a 280 ft backhand shot. Now I have about 360ft forehand and a 420ft back hand.

1st Bagged Boss - 138g Champion Blizzard - Started as my longest flex forehand option. 320ft consistent distance on this shot. As it got more beat in, my elbow and shoulder start hurting from throwing too many forehands, so I forced myself to develop my back hand shot more. The more beat up version of this disc quickly turned into my longest back hand driver. As my back hand shot started picking up velocity, this disc became my first disc that I could get over 350ft of back hand distance with. It was beat up enough that it would fly more like a Star Wraith than a boss. This disc eventually became too understable and I had to pull it form the bag.

2nd Bagged Boss - 173g Star - At this point my back hand distance is getting up to 400ft consistently. I could usually get this disc out about 380ft. I would use this disc on shots that absolutely had to turn left (i.e. water carries that need to end left) and head wind shots. This disc did not get any high speed turn for me, it just would go straight for most of the flight and then faded left at the end. This disc would still be in the bag if I had not lost it, so now in its place I use an 174g Axiom Neutron Delirium. Its not that I like the Delirium better than my Star boss (although its close), its that it gets similar distance to my Boss and has a similar flight path, and I cannot justify spending the money on another disc until my Delirium beats in too much or gets lost.

The boss is something that should be bagged by almost all players of all levels. If you are new and have a weaker arm, get a lighter Boss and use it for flex forehands and backhands into headwinds, also see how it beats in and how the flight path changes. If you are more seasoned and can throw further, you know what you need this disc for. The amount of plastic types available and weight ranges makes this disc an option for almost everyone.

    Star Boss- 153 grams

I picked up a lightweight star boss from a local dealer and holy cow what a great disc.  I max out at around 380 on a BH, but this disc gets so much extra distance.  I have been reaching out to around 400-450 with this.  The lighter weight really allows me to rip on it and not worry about turning it over.  The stability is so good and I get a dependable finish every time.  The rim on my particular disc has a blizzard feel to it, but it still feels very comfortable.

I get smooth releases on it both with a FH and BH, but this disc does it's best work with a BH.  It flares out a little early on a FH unless it is throw with a steeper anhyzer release.  I threw a boss when I was first starting to play and gave it up because it was just too much disc and I couldn't get the hang of it.  I'm glad I gave it another try now that my form has been a little more refined.  This is not a beginner friendly disc, it needs a lot of spin to do what it is meant to do.

This is one of my all-time favorite discs as it can handle a lot of power with very little turn. However, unless you have a lot of power, this is not a great max distance disc. This dose makes the Boss a great disc in heavily windy conditions. For reference, I played a heavily windy round last week, and all of my max weight star destroyers were turning over and not fading. Partway through the round, I switched to my Boss, and while there was significant turn, there was more fade at the end than the Destroyers. As Indicated I think this is a horrible disc for beginners, however, I do believe that this can be a useful utility disc for beginners who need a large skip shot in their bag.

This disc was my go-to for flex shots as a fairly new player, but now I mostly whip it out for tomahawk shots since it'll pancake real nice and land flat. Feels great in my hand and pretty hard to accidentally turn over. Not recommended for beginners who can't throw high speed discs, but a great one to keep in mind for once you've been playing for a bit! Not leaving my bag any time soon.

I love my boss. This disc has been so versatile for me. When used with enough power, my forehand can get it to make a huge S curve for max distance, and no matter what line you put it on, there will be a predictable fade. I have had it for a few months and it has hardly beat in at all. This may not be the best discs for beginners, but as soon as you build up the power and consistency to throw drivers, this disc is definitely among the ones you should get.

??Just picked up a used Star Boss from a friend and immediately started dropping some bombs! Use it for forehand shots and am getting 370+ easy with it when felt like I had been maxing out around 350 before. I throw a First Run Prodigy D1 (love it) for my shots that really need to finish right, skip shots and headwind shots. This disc is the perfect compliment to it. Can  give it full power on flat/very slight hyzer release and just watch it very lightly turn then straighten up cruise and consistently finish with fade at the end. Feels great to have a disc you can trust to turn to get some extra distance on your shot but know that it is still going to fight back out of it and finish strong at the end. Would definitely recommend it. Only reason I downgraded it to 4/5 is I don’t really love innova plastics as much as other brands! Consistent flyer.

This is my main driver. It works great with heavy anheiser. To get it to the most, you must throw it with some serious speed. I have noticed that mine has got less overstable with many throws into trees. I have had mine for almost two weeks now. In my 10 year career, this is the longest I have gone without losing a disc. Overall, I like this disc, I like it a lot.

    For advanced Amateurs and above.

Great for sidearm dominant throwers, the Boss can take on ferocious headwinds and hold its line. If you feel like you're always turning sidearms over or throwing them into the ground (other than slowing down your run-up and taking some speed off your throw) the Boss can handle the hardest and fastest throws in the game.

Noodle Arms beware! You do NOT want to throw this until you have some decent form and power. If you absolutely want one, it is a NICE skipping disc. However, I do enjoy it for some long bombs one wide open fairways where I can actually let this thing fly. If I beat it in more I would be more comfortable to use it in tighter lines, but for now that just isn't the case. Still a nice disc however!

Disc - 174 Innova Star Boss

Feel - The boss has a fairly wide rim but isn't super deep. It can be uncomfortable for some in the hand, depending on the size of your hands. It feels better in my opinion for backhands than it does for forehands but definitely works well for both. Star plastic is very durable and also provides great grip.

Flight - The boss is like the big brother to a destroyer. It has a bit more speed and a bit more stability. If you like the flight path of a destroyer but want just a bit more stability I would definitely recommend a boss. I use it for shots that I throw flat and hold straight and then finish. You can trust this disc on a flex line and it will definitely come out of it.

Overall - The boss is a really good disc for more advanced players as it is definitely overstable and fast. Many players could benefit from having this disc in the bag. I would not recommend it all for beginners as it is much too overstable.

I would recommend this disc for any backhand or forehand players that are right at that intermediate to advanced level. You have to have a little bit of an arm on you to throw this disc and I wouldn't recommend this as your main driver. This disc is a great driver as a wind fighter or something you just want to finish as a spike hyzer or a skip shot. I have a star Boss in my bag exactly for the reasons I listed.

Max weight Star Boss. RHBH. This was one of my first drivers, and it has beat in perfectly and now a staple driver in the bag.

Flight: I can throw max distance around 400 feet. My seasoned Boss flies like a longer Champion Valkyrie. It holds a very straight line, a little high speed turn, with a nice and subtle fade. Fresh out of the box it faded pretty hard, but still held straight for most of it's flight. Some people say how stable it is, but that just wasn't the case for me. My Destroyers are far more overstable than the boss.

Feel: For a 13 speed, this disc doesn't seem too beefy to hold, it actually fits very well in my hand. It has a very flat and slim profile, and I can get a clean release every time.

Plastic: The star plastic holds up great. Hit multiple trees, still has a fairly smooth rim. Durable, yet the flight becomes noticebly less stable over time. Perfect for beating in.

If you're looking for a max distance driver and think the Destroyer is too stable, you're looking for a Star Boss.

I mainly throw RHFH and had issues finding the right disc that offered distance potential and a consistent turnover off the tee. Found a guy selling discs online so I went and picked up a few drivers including a Nuke SS Z and a Star Boss.  I went from an Axiom Insanity (which I still love) to a Nuke SS and still struggled. I grabbed the Star Boss one day and was determined to figure this disc out. After 3 rounds I've increased my average distance 25ft and overall best distance by 75ft! (according to udisc) When thrown right the turnover is predictable and the disc flat out FLIES! It does require a higher arm speed so beginners beware! Underthrown it will dive quicker than a crashing stock market. Once you get the arm speed though you will definately want to add a few of these discs to your arsenal!

Star Boss (175g) - I bought this disc when I got started in the sport not knowing how difficult it is to throw a speed 13 driver. Needless to say, it only faded and faded pretty hard at that. Now that I've been playing for a while...I still can't throw it. But I know people really like these haha! I use a Champ Boss pretty consistently for hyzer forehands or tight flex shots in the woods, but I've put away the Star Boss for a while. Maybe someday I'll get it up to flat or learn how to throw a better force-over anhyzer.

This disc requires a ton of speed! That makes is require a pretty big arm. I like this disc. It is definitely the furthest flying disc in my bag but it is less reliable than other disc I throw. For example, my primary driver is a Zeus. Best shot to best shot, the Boss will go about 10-25 feet further than my best shot with the Zeus but I consistently throw the Zeus better. But if you have the arm and you get this thing thrown right, it will just set sail on this perfect S flight pattern!

The 175G Star Boss in my bag is the most overstable disc I have. The disc is comparable to the Destroyer but the Boss is just more overstable. Even with a major anhyzer realease the disc will still find its way flipping back over half way through the shot and finishing hard. This disc is perfect for heavy headwind throws and or doglegs. If you find yourself needing to go long and turning hard, this would be the disc to use. I find it very reliable when needing to throw over trees/obstacles and into the fairway for crashing spike hyzers. Personally I throw LHFH (exclusively) and put a bunch of torque on my throws. Even if I try to flip the disc over to get any kind of anhyzer line it won't bite on the line. It will do a soft fade, correct itself, and finish hard. Overall, this disc is fantastic and I find myself using it multiple times in a round.

The Boss is a very overstable disc. It's similar to a Destroyer, just faster. If Destroyers are meat hooks for you, the Boss will be even more so. I spent a while with a Boss today doing field work and thought I'd leave my thoughts.

The Boss flies very well. It goes quite a ways but it's definitely a high speed disc. I hardly saw any turn in the disc and was surprised at how much it'd fade at times. I'd have to really put a good move on it to see any turn at all and it wouldn't last long before the disc started to fade. I threw this both forehand and backhand and thought it did well with both but I think I slightly preferred throwing it forehand.

Overall I think this disc is for big arms only. If Destroyers are understable for you, the Boss would be good upgrade. Otherwise, it's a utility disc at best as it'll just fade out on you every time.

My review is going to be a little skewed because I bought mine from a friend and it was already super beat in, but it is my favorite no wind distance driver right now.

I have it in star plastic at 168g and it is perfect for my 380 ft avg drive distance. This was the first driver that I ever got to flip up and actually go where I wanted it to. On a windy day, I find myself turning to the Destroyer or something else but overall this one is my favorite. I just ordered another one so I'll have to do a review of another review after I get that one.

If you get a beat in one I would say it is very beginner friendly. I do not use mine for a FH disc though, too flippy for that.

The Boss is a little unpredictable at times, but produces the most raw distance of any disc I have thrown. They love to move fast and glide. The more dome you can find on them the better. They start out overstable, but once broke in they create huge hyzer flip bombs. Wind can cause them to be unpredictable, but if thrown correctly, they can produce the most distance of any disc out there.

I think the star plastic is the way to go in this mold. It offers significant distance for my forehand due to it's combination of speed, turn and stabiliy. No being as overstable as my XCal and Pd2 but enough to forehand just not into the wind. I aim my forehand right of the target and throw between hyzer and flat. The Boss rips out fast with plenty of turn with enough stability to come out of the turn and fade back. I can get anywhere between 325 to 375 on a Max throw.  This is, for my throwing style, a Max distance driver under perfect conditions. If it's windy leave it in the bag. Not the most versitle disc but nice to have.

This is my go-to disc for big forehand distance. I can consistently throw this further than any  other driver (Destroyer for example) I've ever thrown and just as accurately. It handles wind and power like a boss (lame joke). This disc requires power to get full potential but soooooo worth it.  Throw it on a slight forehand anny and you will see what I mean.

I actually found one on the course a long time ago, when I was a beginner. It had no name or phone, so I kept it. I couldn't throw it to save my life. But, years later, I am now stronger and can throw it. It honestly depends on how heavy you get it. If you buy a light one, it is not as hard to throw but will have a hard time staying very reliably straight. But if you get a heavier one, like me, it will take some strength and/or torque to keep it from diving hard left (RHBH). It is a good max dist. driver for intermediate and advanced players, and that is why it holds the world distance record.

I use my star bosses for all of my big distance shots. I have a star boss that I use for hyzerflips around 410-430. I also have a star boss that is extremely overstable that gets used for 370-400 foot spike hyzers or headwind fighting drives.

With any disc, the only way to know if you will like it is to throw it!

I have only thrown max weight star versions of this disc.  For me, I absolutely love it.  Even though I have smaller hands, I still dig the size of the disc.  The rim to me does not feel bad, even though you can tell it's beefier than most.  I can crank on this disc and 9 out of 10 times I know it will come back left.  If thrown into a head wind, it will flip up nice and ride nice and straight.  I'm a rhbh thrower and if I run into a right to left wind, I reach for this disc because it will ride it for ever.  For me, I bust out this disc for 3 different scenarios.   If I have a low ceiling hyzer shot, long open sweeping hyzer shot, or if throwing around some scattered trees as it will cut through them better on miss throws.  I can say that I can consistently throw this disc on a hyzer line 350 accurately in ideal conditions.  With a headwind, I'll tend to put too much torque on it and it will go dead straight and/or slightly right.  When I throw this disc low, it has a ton of glide and will get out there with it's 13 speed rating.  This used to be my main distance driver but lately, I have converted to discmania and the ddx is my go to.  However, i still bag the boss.  I have 2 brand new as back up and my 7 year old seasoned one that I lost for a week but got back thankfully!  One day I plan to try the r-pro and see how that flies.

I got a 161g Star Boss white, because I wanted something that
I can use at the end of the day when my arm gets tired.  It flies
very straight until the end when it fades like a typical Boss (more
    than a Destroyer).

It may be slightly more stable than my 171g Star Shryke.

The thing that I don't like is the feel of the inside of the rim.  It has
some air bubbles in the plastic that make it feel not as smooth as
    my 171g Star plastic discs.

My 159g StarLite Teebird has a smooth feel in the rim, so I was
surprised with the 161g Star Boss.

I like the flight, straight but not really any farther then my 171g
GStar Boss.  BTW, I'm not a power thrower, my max. distance
    is about 325 ft.

I threw a Star Boss for a little while, and while it did serve as a solid, overstable distance driver, I couldn't seem to really rip it due to the very wide rim. If you have larger hands and higher arm speed, you can absolutely smash these! There is a reason that the world distance record has been beaten a number of times using Innova Bosses.

I have quite a few bosses. My favorite being my champ blizzard factory second. If you're looking for a super overstable driver, go with the star plastic, my 175g star boss is the second most overstable disc I have ever  thrown. Champ plastic is still pretty overstable, but not nearly as much as the star plastic. Blizzard discs tend to be less overstable than their counterparts. I can actually hyzer flip my blizzard, and it has a massive dome so I can get some crazy distance with it. Overall i would recommend this disc for predominantly sidearm throwers, thought it could be good for backhand if you have the power.

Love, Love, Love this disc! Not a good disc for people just getting out in the field but...... for experienced players who are looking for a disc with a reliable fade in a stiff head wind this disc is for you. Throw it out there with a tad of hyzer watch it flip up and go straight in massive head winds or put some anhyzer on it and it will glide for eveer. Great for side arms as well and in champion plastic is my go to. Def recommend it for all experienced players who like the wider rim who think the destroyer just doesnt feel right in the hand!

The Boss was one of the first high speed drivers, so it killed me a little bit there because I was not experienced enough nor did I have the form for the disc. It was a little hard to begin with, but for some reason I was really drawn to this disc. The rim felt great and I liked how the plastic felt as it was one of the first discs that I had in Star plastic.

I like to think that the Boss was one of my training discs in my early career. I could actually get it to flip a little once my form got better and the disc was more beat in. The Boss could flex out a bit but it would always come back, something that was important to my game as I play in a lot of wind and was still trying to grasp the concept of something to fight the wind, so an overstable boss was great.

While I do not advise using a Boss as a beginner, I think that it is a good disc for those advanced players who do not care for the Destroyer. They are pretty similar, so really I think both would work great and it is down to personal preference between the two.

My star boss is 171g with a massive dome

When I purchased this disc, I was led to believe it would be a longer, faster, more stable destroyer. It definitely is longer and faster, but not quite as stable as a destroyer--at least in the star plastic. For me, it really likes to hang in the air longer than the destroyer. Mine flew like a slightly seasoned destroyer--which was a welcome surprise to me, as it takes a bit to season discs in general!

If you throw destroyers and can throw 400+, definitely give one of the lighter weight boss's a try. It gained me about 15ft of distance!

I own two lighter Star Bosses (149g and 155g) as well as two Blizzard Bosses (138g and 156g).  The Blizzard Bosses are very easy to throw with little power required to get these out near the 300' range.  I'm not as young and quick as I used to be and I've only been playing for about a year and a half so I'm still learning.  My two Star (not Starlite) Bosses are consistently my further flying discs. I'm still working on my form and I'm still very inconsistent with my driving but the two Star Bosses always seem to go the furthest of all my distance discs (Prodigy D3 @ 155g-163g and Star Terns @ 161g-175g).  I've thrown my 149g Star Boss up to 375' on level ground.  On a 350' throw the discs get a very mild turn with a light fade at the end.

Also of note my Blizzard Bosses are more stable than my Blizzard Destroyers (as expected).  However, the lighter Star Bosses I've thrown aren't nearly as stable the lighter weight Paul McBeth Destroyers.  For example, my 152g Paul McBeth Destroyer is a meat hook in comparision to the 149g Star Boss.  Although, I've not compared the PLH on these discs but I have thrown 5-6 lightweight Destroyers and every one have been a bit more stable in comparison.

I'm sure the Bosses in the mid 160g+ range are much more stable than mine so take my review for what it is.

I have always had a Star Boss in my bag. It is the driver I grab whenever there is a wind or whenever the hole exceeds 400ft. Once it is broken in it doesn't quite fly as overstable as the numbers would describe. To me it actually flies like a -1 2 once broken in effectively. Basically this disc can be used in a number of ways. It can be used to gain distance on a straight hole or it can be used when a dog leg left is needed. Tilt this disc slightly and not only will it take the path to the left you want, buy you wont lose any distance as you do.

This is a great disc. Especially the star plastic which gives it nice grip. I have been playing for about a year now and can drive around 300 ft on average. (accuracy still needs improvement) I throw this disc every round and for multiple holes. I feel the flight pattern is accurate with the slight turn and stronger fade at the end. Great for getting around obstacles in the middle of the course.

In my opinion the boss has more glide then the destroyer. Tends to float more before the fade. It takes me less effort than the destroyer as well. I feel as if the statistics are off on the 2 discs in some way

I don't need to say much about the Boss, everyone knows what it can do.  When I got one, I assumed it would be more disc than I could handle.  It quickly became one of my best distance discs, however.  My first Star Boss is still in my bag, and it is invaluable to me, even as old as it is.  It beats in and ages perfectly.  Now it is my go to understable distance driver for when I need to crush something out there and have a lot of room to do it.

Brand new or old and worn, the Boss is a fantastic disc well worth the money.

I bought two F2 (factory second) straight from Innova assuming that it will be more flat which I need for my forehand shot. Well, I was wrong. I need a disc for forehand that doesn't turn...may be -0.5 turn would be perfect. Both came out little domey, I don't know if you call it puff top. A puff top disc would be a little more overstable as in puff top destroyer or puff top Saint Pro as in David Feldberg's recent (2014) in the bag video. Anyway, I field tested both F2 Star Boss (171 gm). I was not happy with it. A brand new Star Boss and it turns a good bit like -1 to -1.5 turn. But my Nuke is so flat that it worn't turn whatsoever. Although I don't use wide rim disc for backhand drives, it was flying really good for me and a lot further than Nuke. I am very disappointed with my recent purchase. I now think that Innova's discs are not consistent.

I am liking this disc. Traded my champ destroyer got this disc strictly for side arm. But wait, I get a really good backhand drive as well. My max forehand with this disc was about 350 which I have never thrown with any other disc. When I need backhand drive for a dogleg left holes with a comfortable room, I will pull this out. I thought the max weight star boss would be really overstable for me, well it was but not what I thought of. Throw it flat 15 ft high at the max, it is going straight only to finish left with a big skippppppp. I would have to order at least one new Star Boss from Infinitediscs.com soon, I think.

BOOM! Like others have said this is a max D bomber! I have pitted myself against some Open players (ok, so it's in UT but still) and beatin a few of them in distance contests with this disc. My Star 170g Boss is a killer. Like has been said before this is a wide rim driver that, if not handled with power, can give inconsistent or crappy results. This disc if thrown flat and with power (RHBH) will do a slight turn to the right then slowly start to make it's fade back. If thrown without good form or power, it will let you know that. There are a few holes that this disc is useful for, and for me those holes are long and usually pretty straight or might have tight lanes you need to stay in. Because of that slight S turn I can keep it low and it will turn then fade back in a pretty straight and consistent line. For me this disc fly's very similar to a faster Wraith or an Ape that you rip on an elevated anhyzer line. I would not however recommend this disc for beginners, but once you get some good form and power under your belt, for sure pick this disc up!

If you want a go far disc that's predictable this is a great disc. The star plastic is super "grippy" as well.
