I was given two retro plastic rivers for Christmas. They are very good for tight wooded shots and in the woods in general. I throw this disc on short holes in the woods and it flies relatively straight. This disc with an anhyer angle is great for flex shots, especially for my forehand. The river feels great in the hand and feels good to throw. The river is a great fairway driver for beginners except for open, windy holes. It's glide can also cause the disc to fade very quickly and is more understable than the flight numbers say. 

The River is one of the first discs I bought after I felt I needed to add some discs to my bag.  I absolutely love this disc.  Glides forever and a very straight flyer.  You don't have to throw it very hard for it to just "go".  I would say this is a great beginner disc that has a good chance to stay in your bag as you continue to get better.  Absolutely recommended.

After a few rounds. my river turned into one of the flippiest discs in my bag. I need to get another one in a more durable plastic I think. 

I can't put enough hyzer on mine to keep from flipping and cut rolling.

Maybe I just have a mega arm... lol

This disc flys FOREVER!  It is also a very straight flying disc and for a beginner would be an awesome driving disc because you don't have to have a lot of arm speed to chuck this thing a country mile.
