As a mid Level player, this disc just sails! Straight as an arrow and flight characteritics are true. Not designed for hyzer/anhyzer but if you want to pit the ace through a narrow corridor this disc will get you there

Don't let the impressive glide number fool you; it's overstated.  It does have a very nice flight, very controllable, a good disc.  Large diameter though :(

Same flight and distance as my proton Drift (labelled 75-21 but actually doing 7501).

The River doesn't go quite as far as my gstar Hawkeye (75-11), about 15 feet shorter on average.  Not a bad thing as it starts out more stable and sometimes you want that dependable gentle fade, not the distance necessarily.

My River didn't get much use before losing it but it did start to get a slightly straighter flight.  But 7 glide?  imo a big resounding No.  It has the same glide as most other 7speed straight or understable fairway drivers.

Adjust those results for you; I'm not a high arm speed, so if you throw far, you'd probably see a net-straight flyer that quickly breaks in to understable.

The Gold Ice plastic feels great.

-1star because glide number is misleading (and intentionally done, for sales.  They did -1 for speed and added 2 to glide to make it sound really impressive.  Helps sales.)

When I first bagged the gold ice river, I was blown away by how straight it would fly if I added just a little hyzer to the throw. It was never my first option for regular drives, but if I needed to shape a shot with a hyzer flip, I would only use the river. But pretty quicky after I got it I started to notice it was becoming more and more understable with each throw. To the point where I would release with an almost 45 degree angle and it would still somehow turn over and not come back. I believe this is an issue with the gold ice plastic, because I have much more understable discs in champion style plastics that do exactly what I think they will. The gold ice river has become extremely unpredictable over time, and I will be buying an Opto-ice version soon. I would say... just avoid the trouble and get the opto.

The River is a wonderful fairway driver. It's the first fairway driver that I've felt comfortable throwing finesse shots with, and my favorite hyzer flip disc for longer holes in the woods. I have one in Opto and one in Gold-Ice, and I can consistently get them out to around 325 feet both backhand and forehand. The extra glide is so helpful for those 350+ foot par 3s that I never had a shot at birdieing with my Eagles or Leopards.
