For the longest time this disc was my straight mid. Throw it flat and it was on a laser from release. Since this disc doesn't turn or fade much out of the box it can easily be thrown on hyzers and anhyzers and hold the angle as it pushes. This makes it is great for learning your angle control. The Champion plastic is not my favorite of the Innova plastics, but it does this disc justice, holding up for years and just now becoming slighly understable. This slight understability is allowing me to really power down on throws and still get those straight shots.

I'm a beginner and this quickly became the most reliable disc in my (admittedly small) bag. It goes where I tell it to go, time ater time after time. Definitely fades a bit if you're using it as an approach disc with less speed, but otherwise flies straight and true like nothing else I've played with. If I had to play a round with just a single disc, this would be it (though I'd rather not hae to do that). I bought this and a Buzzz at about the same time and for whatever reason the Buzzz I just haven't "figured out" like I have with this... though YMMV for me this is the ideal disc golf starter discs.

Summary: Great straight midrange for beginners that yo can keep around as it beats in.

Feel: The Champion plastic just seems to last forever, never keeping a hold on any scratches or scuffs that it may get. The height is quite comfortable for a wide range of hand sizes. The rim is just about in the middle of thickness for midranges that keeps it from feeling easy to slip out of the hand. The top of the disc in Champion plastic is a bit flimsy when it gets too warm.

Flight: Just insanely straight when thrown properly, can be a little more overstable when thrown slower for approaches. This disc seems great to keep around for a while as it kepps straight for a while until it's beat enought to get just slow turn without trying to come back or burning out.

I bought the Mako3 about a year ago to test against a Buzzz, Buzzz SS, and Fuse that I bought at the same time, and it flies nothing like any of them. I assume it's just the one I got, because everyone compares it to the Buzzz, but my Mako3 is extremely understable. I understand that any straight disc requires a certain touch, but this disc has filled a very specific spot in my bag, and the straight midrange is not it.

So for reference, I can throw my Buzzz on a straight line about 325-350ft consistently, my Buzzz SS to about 320-330, and my Fuse a little over 300. Each of those discs flies true to their flight numbers for me when thrown straight to slight-hyzer. To get the Mako3 to go straight, I need to throw on a 30 degree hyzer and give it some height. If I throw straight with the same power I throw my Buzzz to get the full flight, my Mako3 will turn and never come back. It's much less stable than the Buzzz SS, and not quite as understable as a Discraft Sol or MVP Uplink.

With how much I've thrown this Mako3, I've gotten used to how it flies and I actually love it. In the right situations it does what none of my other mids can do, and for that reason I bag it. I would, however, like to purchase another Mako3 at some point to see how it's really supposed to fly.

IMO, the best first disc a player could have.  So neutral, so smooth.  Sneaky distance and very workable.  I would say the cliche "holds any line you put it on" but honestly, almost every disc does that outside of the crazy OS ones.

My preferred sidearm mid.  Yes, I wrote that correctly, I sidearm Mako3's.  I also enjoy long walks on the beach and watching the sunset. I also backhand them, but flicks with them are absolute money on tunnel shots and upshots.

I use my champion mako3 for really straight shots up to about 350 feet. In champion plastic the mako 3 is really true to the flight numbers Innova gives it. It doesn't try to flip up and it doesn't try to fade. If you're able to control the angle of release, you will be able to get a lot of the mako3. If you're not able to, this is a great disc to learn with.

I lost a Star Mako3 due to my own poor angle control as this disc will hold pretty much any line you put it on.  Put it on hyzer, it'll have a very controlled hyzer, flat is flat and straight, a little anhyzer and you'll get a nice gentle turn to the ground.

Replaced the lost Star with a champion for added longevity as this disc is my workhorse.  not a power thrower at all which makes this disc very controllable.  Oh and if your form needs improved this disc will show you.  An incredible disc to do field work with because of it showing you the line you put it on, learn to angle control this disc and you'll gain a lot on the course.  Love this disc and will likely always bag one.

It is very, very good at one thing, true to the marketing that would be its straight flight characteristics. In my opinion, however, it falls short on most other metrics that make a midrange good. I think it's a great disc to have but you will be reaching for other mids once you understand their strengths relative to the Mako3's weaknesses. First of all, it is clunky in the hand with its very wide rim which, with some hyperbole, feels like a steering wheel or something. I get a lot of griplocks with this disc relative to others in the class because it's just so chunky. Something like a Buzz accomplishes the great controlling midrange feel while being a bit more svelte around the rim and making for better releases. The glide also feels a bit off, as to me this disc really wants to drop. Relative to other midranges it seems to be lacking in the get-up-and-go. Something like a Kastaplast Svea hangs in the air better and seems to hit those longer lines with more precision. I totally understand the reputation of the Mako3 and would recommend it, but if you're anything like me you'll likely end up putting it down in favor of more specialized alternatives.

I started bagging this disc this past summer. Needed something straight to compliment my other midranges. I have a 175g star and a 175g champion. The one thing I can say is why didn't I bag this disc sooner. It is super straight and holds it's line like a laser beam. I get very slight fade out of the champion. The star has no fade and I can also work a nice little anhyzer if I need to. I think the flight numbers are pretty spot on. The rim is very comfortable in the hand. A perfect beginners to advanced disc.

This disc is helping with my form big time. I had been playing an almost entirely stable bag so I didn't realize how often I was releasing on slight anhyzer until bagging the mako3. Pointed that flaw out immediately and never hides it to this day. Now I've got my focus put into a flatter release and its helping the rest of my game. This has been a great compliment to my stable/overstable lucid Emac Truth, and I just got my first ace with this Mako3

The Innova Mako3 is my favorite of the midrange discs. The true neutral turn & fade allows me to throw at any angle I want and it will always hold the line. I've use it to drive the basket on approach, to get out of scrambles, and heck, I've even used it as a substitute putter. A great starter disc, recommended by a beginner.

If you come from ultimate frisbee, get a mako3. The most true neutral disc of all time, the definition of 0 turn 0 fade. The rounded edge gives me a better feel than the buzzz style midranges, but that's personal preference. Backhand point and shoot up to 280ft, or hyzerflip touch forehands. Very glidy and very honest, it will show you exactly what angle you put it on and it won't move at all. Really ripping on the disc will flip it though, and once it starts turning over it usually doesn't stop, so not great for max distance shots.

    180g Champion Innova Mako3

I have this mid range beast in a 180, which makes it a bit of a bulky throw requiring some effort. That being said it flies completey straight and is the most wind resistant disc I own, Not a disc for trick shots, but if you need a line-drive, it is one of the best you could hope for.

New review from a year of having it and I think its a good disc, just not the correct flight numbers. I have seen a couple people compare this to a Buzzz SS. Both my friend and I have different runs and plastics, but they both fly the same. These are not a 0 turn 0 fade disc like the flight numbers say. I would say it has a bit more flip up than it says. I have mine in champion plastic and my friends is a halo star. I have had issues with thinking this should be a dead straight shooter where it wouldn't turn at all. Now that I have thrown mine more and more, it really is a nice turn over where it doesn't fade much at all. Its great for a broad sweeping turnover where its gets a little past flat and just holds it until it lays down. Before I had issues throwing it since relied too much on the flight numbers, but now I see where the utility of this disc is and where it is actually useful. If you throw with a lot of hyzer, this should flip to flat and ride straight. I throw on a slight hyzer, so mine turns a bit over flat. I don't have this with a Buzzz in premium plastic, but the Mako3 will flip more.

The most beginner friendly disc I have ever seen If you are a beginner in the game I think the Mako3 is the very first disc you should start with. It is the straightest flying disc I have ever thrown and will show every mistake you make. Whatever line you put the Mako3 on is the line it will fly the entire flight. This is super useful for those who are looking to fix their throwing angle or anyone who just needs a super straight midrange with no fade. If you need to hit any kind of tunnel shot this is the perfect disc to hold a straight line the entire time. I think this disc has a spot in everybody's bag at any skill level. I would suggest a premium plastic just to make sure it stays straight I personally throw champion and its flight has not changed after many trees hit.

It's basically like throwing an aviar if an aviar was a mid-range, the mako3 is arguably one of the straightest flying discs to exist and then on top of that the thing has zero fade, plus a ton of glide it might just be perfect

The Mako3 is an amazing disc that has a place in all bags.  The relatively high glide without much power lets you make lots of mid/approach shots as you are learning the sport.  It is super stable and flies really straight even without a lot of power.  I got the Champion plastic to survived the tree tunnel shots that inevitability go straight into the trunks (its my fault, not the discs).

It flies a lot like the Infinite Discs Anubis but is way more comfortable and has a spot as my stable mid-range in my bag.

It's practically just a buzzz. I love the feel compared to the buzzz. The mako3 has a more rounded rim making it feel better for a beginner as it's more similar feeling to that of a putter. It's so controllable that if it does anything that you don't like, it's something that the thrower should look at fixing.

    Disc: Innova Champion Mako3, 175g

Feel: This disc is very flat. It feels just a tad bit strange in the hand at first, honestly. I always like to point out in my reviews of Champion discs that I’m not the biggest fan of Champion plastic. It just feels ever so slightly off for me. That being said, I still bag 8 discs in Champion. For me to bag a disc that is Champion plastic, it has to feel absolutely perfect in my hand. The Mako3 is in my bag. It feels pretty good backhand. But it feels absolutely wonderful forehand. If I close my eyes and hold a Mako3 forehand, I feel as though I am holding a Roc3. (Which is the 2nd highest compliment I can ever pay to a disc, the only higher being that a disc felt like a Destroyer.)

Flight: This disc is actually kinda tough to throw. I have friends who bought it for their siblings who were just getting in to disc golf, as they thought it would be an easy beginner midrange. But it really isn’t that easy to throw. You have to have good angle control, this disc isn’t very forgiving. I have also found that you really can’t power up on this disc like most other midranges. When thrown flat with a fair bit of power, this disc flies like a laser beam. It flies dead straight. No turn. No fade. It slides straight, it skips straight, and it rolls straight. It’s also pretty good at holding anhyzer lines, and hyzer lines as well. But I think there are better discs out there for holding hyzer/anhyzer lines.

Overall: This disc is great! I find myself reaching for this very regularly when I’m playing wooded courses with tight fairways. I’ve never really believed that a disc could fly perfectly straight, the other midranges and putters I’ve tried that boast of a perfectly straight flight have fallen short. I loved throwing this through super tight gaps and watching my friends’ facial expressions when it did not move to the left or right in the slightest. Three of my disc golf buddies picked up Mako3’s after watching me keep going to it during a weekend round at a wooded course. Not my favorite disc for beginners, but it’s not the worst either. Love this disc, and I highly recommend it!

    180g Champion Plastic

The straightest flying disc you will ever throw.

I don't think I can accurately convey how straight this disc flies with minimal effort. Wherever you point this disc on release, it will follow that line until the very end. It is a tremendous disc for all skill levels and especially for beginners as it will teach you what you are doing wrong with your release angle and if you are throwing too nose up. Once you've mastered this disc the woods will be your playground and your confidence will be unmatched. Tight fairways will be a breeze and all different shot shapes will be unlocked.

Beginners pick up this disc ASAP. I currently own 8. Three Halo Star, two Star, two Champion, and one GStar.

The Halo Star are actually slightly more stable than the regular ones so if you were thinking of buying one that will retain its characteristics and be a more stable/overstable hybrid in your bag then absolutely get one, or three!!

Love this disc! It's been a blast slowly getting better with using this and becoming a better rounded player overall. I throw this more than my driver at my local course since I'm still on the amateur holes and this gets the right distance and accuracy for me especially as I have gotten used to it. When I throw it correctly it's nearly perfectly straight otherwise it flips just a little left for me, but most of my other discs do that too so I think that's just an error in my throwing.

The Mako3 is my favorite straight flying midrange of all time. This disc flies on a dead straight line and will consistently save you strokes on the course. It is made for any and every player to help them succeed.

One of the uses of the Mako3 is consistent upshots. This disc is one of the most consistent upshot discs I have ever used. It works on every angle and will fly on that angle the whole way. Thrown on a slight hyzer it will have a nice subtle drift toward the basket. The Anhyzer angle also works well with this disc. It will turn over beautifully and work its way right on a right-handed backhand.

Another great use for this disc is for driving off the tee.  I love this disc for shots 275 and in where a dead straight shot is need or a slight hyzer or anhyzer angle. I personally do not use this disc for drastic hyzer shots because I also bag a Roc3 but when the Roc3 is just too overstable this is a great disc for that slight hyzer shot that I find myself throwing a lot. I find that I can get a good consistent flight out of it and it has a great feel in the hand. It is beadles which I like for this particular slot because the bead can make discs a little less controllable.

When it comes to plastic selection for this disc there are (in my opinion) two options. Either Star or Champion. Now I know a lot of pros throw Star because of the grip, but personally I throw it in Champion because Champion does not beat in so the disc does not flip over like a beat in Star Mako3 might. This allows me to get a perfectly straight shot with just the slightest drift left at the end (hardly enough to even be called fade).

The last thing I love about this disc is its versatility. This disc works for almost any shot. If I could only bag one disc this would be it. The predictability and the utility of this disc is unmatched. This is by far the best one disc only round disc ever made. Go get yourself a Mako3 and start shaving strokes off your game!!!

    Easy to Throw

RHBH Champion and Star Plastic has great GLIDE ! Excellent for new throwers and finesse shots from seasoned pros.

170 g is easy to control for light drives and approach.   not for torque power of headwinds.  However light or no wind this disc is good in the 200  to 400 foot range. Highly recommended to learn shot shaping.

I've had two identical Champion Mako3 and this was the first disc I loved as a beginner, because it kept going straight with momentum and would not fade too much at low speed.

I've been using it less and less, using the Proxy for approach shots up to 170 feet and fairway drivers for longer shots. The reason is that the Mako3 has become less predictable for me. It's probably mistakes in my form, but I'll occasionally turn it over to the right, and occasionally have it hyzer to the left, meaning that this disc is not giving me better precision than my fairway drivers.

This is the quintessential midrange for beginners. If you want a disc that flies straight and is perfect for practicing form, this is your disc. If you played Ultimate Frisbee before picking up Disc Golf, this is your disc. If you don't have a fast arm and you're just now learning to throw a Frisbee, this is your disc.

Mako3 is the disc you need to practice consistency. I'd recommend Champion plastic as I've heard mixed feelings about star, but i have never thrown a Star Mako3, I'll admit.

Straightest flying disc I've ever thrown. It's incredible how straight the mako3 can fly. It has good distance too. If it doesn't go straight, it's not the discs fault :) I always have one in my bag... I wish they made them in lighter weights (my kids want one), but maybe that's part of the reason they fly so straight?

A good choice for the ultimate player wanting to play a one disc round. Very responsive to angles and great glide. I like this disc for straight shots, especially downhill, and for reliable holding of an angle. Also good for really long jump putts that need some extra floatiness.

Dead straight mid-range... say no more. This thing will go exactly where you put it. If you need something for low ceiling straight shots, it's your disc. Keeps any line you put it on. Great disc to learn on as it very directly shows you what you put into it.

It took me a while to try a Mako3, but boy am I glad I did. Instantly in the bag.

My most-used midrange is an ESP Buzzz, but the Mako3 differs enough to pair well with its Discraft cousin. They're really just different discs - if I want a baby S-line and just a slightly "forgiving" flight, the Buzzz comes out every time. However, if I need a disc to push 300' and do nothing but follow almost *exactly* the trajectory it is released on with no mid-flight movement, the Mako3 takes the day. This difference can matter on those 250'+ shots that really need to stay dead on target.

I found the Mako3 to be an even better learning disc than the Buzzz because it is so true to your release. If you have OAT, it'll tend to fly understable and pitch to the right. If you release without OAT but off your line in the slightest, you'll see it right away. I'm saying it's "very beginner friendly" because you can indeed throw it without all kinds of wonky disc flight characteristics kicking in that can surprise beginners. I bet if I'd gotten good at throwing a Mako3 before any other midrange or driver, I'd be better overall now. Of course, none of this is to indict the Buzzz - I'm deeply in love with that disc and use it the most of any midrange.

It's worth mentioning that a new Champion Mako3 disc has maybe a tiny bit of fade out of the box which is more noticeable if it has some air to drop from. However, I expect it to beat into to an almost perfectly neutral disc.

I love the mako3. It is my main midrange as it is extremely accurate. I do have to throw it quite soft to get the right flight numbers out of it. This disc has helped me develop my short game and is a staple in my bag. All beginners should have it as it will help them learn the tricks of disc golf.

This disc is fun to throw. I have the new Jolly Lauuncher  Champion plastic and it seems a hair softer and a little gummies than the old plastic. 180 grams Green apple. This disc is sneaky long for a mid and it reminds me of the Comet in the aspect that this disc seems to demand good form. I have to put a slight hyzer on it to keep it from turning.. Looks like it's going in the bag in between my Buzzz and Comet. Difficult decision to make for my small bag because I have 6 mid ranges I'm throwing all very well and only ten or eleven slots open.

You got to have a Champ Mako3. Its a shot that you are bound to need. Flawless turnovers come easy with this disc. Give it some height and it will do the rest for you. If you want to get a little fancy, throw it down a tunnel on pure hyzer and have it flip up for a straight to tight finish. (RHBH) Its really not rocket science the Mako3 is just that good.

Love this disc. It is my go to for approaches and tight wooded par threes. I never can get it to go dead straight but that is ok because if i put it on a tiny bit of hyzer it flies beautifully. Not straight but just this slight slow fade. It is great for big anhyzer lines too. I didn't have a forehand so it was priceless for those anhyzer wooded shots. Every other midrange would flex out of it but not the mako. Love it.

The most straight, dependable disc I throw. I'm a beginner and use this more than any other disc as I play mostly at a course in my town that has mostly pins you can see from the tee. Need it to veer left or right? Throw it on a hyzer or anhyzer and it will go there. I cannot see ever leaving this disc behind for any reason whatsoever. When the listed flight path says straight they mean it. Perfect for starting to be able to throw more consistent straight lines without have to go with the crapshoot of hyzer flips. Tight gap to hit and get some distance this disc is the choice. Just stable enough to handle some power for further straight shots with minimum fade.

Currently bagging two Mako3 Champions, one of which gets thrown on tree-lined holes with the intent to beat it in for an understable disc with the same handfeel as my straight flyer.

Flight characteristics are true and do not hide or muffle any flaws in the form. This has been a fantastic addition to the bag for field work and controlled approaches or tight tunnel shots off the tee when you want to 'club down' or throw a little slower. The straight flight allows you to anny or hyzer your body to get a desirable and trustworthy flight out of the disc. It flicks well off of a forehand, floating more so than my Roc3 or Zone. Only reason I'm marking it as "somewhat beginner friendly" is the lack of stability means your form has to be smooth to get a good flight out of it. There is no stability to kick out any wobbles, or smooth out a bad release. Some beginners may find this frustrating, likewise, this disc is very susceptible to being redirected by the wind.

For kids, esp, that don't have the distance yet, a straight flying disc is great. That being said, I have many places where this is my go to mid-range disc too.

I'm honestly a big fan of this disc. I've had it in my bag for quite a while, and while it and I had a rough start, I will say that this disc has become my primary tunnel disc. While at first it would fade relatively hard on me or turn, depending on my angle, which at the time I was poor at controlling. But now that I've gotten more consistent, if I give it a slight hyzer flip, this disc levels up perfectly and will go for 300-350 feet for me as straight as an arrow, while at times I put too much hyzer on it, and it takes a hard left, this disc is one that will stay in my bag for quite some time!

    Super beginner friendly!

I've been playing with 2 Champion Mako3s for several months now. They are nicely broken in and get a sweet anhyzer glide shot.

For any beginner, this disc will travel straight (as long as you have decent throwing form). It basically does not flip or turn until the last 20-40 feet where the disc will finish to the left ever-so-slightly.

For any intermediate to advanced player, this disc can be used to do anything in the range of straight to anhyzer. Straight shots require a bit of a hyzer release, but the pathing is so smooth. Any anhyzer shot can be thrown flat with more power and the disc will likely flip just a little bit. The Mako3 really holds its straight line well and doesn't tend flip off course unless its thrown wildly.

I wouldn't really recommend this disc for windy situations. Something more stable is definitely a much better choice. If you've got a clear day and you need a super flat shot or some sort of tunnel shot, the Mako3 is a must have.

Wonderful disc. This is one of my favorite mid-ranges, along with the Roc3, Sol, Svea, and Gote. I play tight wooded courses a lot and this is a great disc for wooded courses and tunnel shots. If you throw it flat, it will go dead straight. It will also hold a nice anhyzer. It holds a hyzer too, but I use the Roc3 for hyzer shots. The Mako3 has almost no fade and glides a long way for a mid. I highly recommend this disc. I often give one to beginners to start them off with an easy disc to throw that goes straight with no turn or fade. I think it's the fastest disk with 0 turn and 0 fade.

This is by far the straightest mid-range I have ever thrown. I got a starter pack a few months ago with a dX shark and did not like how overstable it was and felt like I needed a more stable mid-range. My friend had a mako3 and it was very straight when I threw it so I decided to get one of my own. I got a champion mako3 and it is simply amazing. It is my go-to mid-range and can even use it off the tee for straight shots.

This disc is a kind of interesting disc for me. When i throw this disc it goes super straight with a tiny bit of right turn and about absolutely no fade. That part about the disc is awesome and I love it. One thing I don't love very much about is the shape. It has a weird shape that you probably have to get used to,to throw the disc consistently straight. other than that this disc is great durable and a amazing flyer.

The Mako3 is one of the most beginner friendly discs ever made. Especially for ultimate frisbee players that are new to the sport. It will hold any line that you put it on. I use it for very straight to slighty understable shots every once in a while. Very good straight disc. it really will hold any angle that you put it on with just the smallest of fade if thrown too high. my advice after throwing over 50 times (not too many ik) is too focus on not throwing it too high up into the air. If thrown on too steep of an angle up into the air it will stall out and have a decent normal fade. If thrown flat with no hyzer it will go straight as an arrow with very very minimal fade. I gave mine too a beginner friend after learning it doesn't for into my bag. Overall it will fit into your bag perfectly if looking for a perfectly straight midrange with no fade.

There is one hill I would be willing to die on in disc golf: the Mako3 is the best disc Innova has ever made. Straight flight at any power level, can hold an anny without burning, can even hold a smooth hyzer that will push forward the entire time. This disc is just incredible! I've been discing for around 15 years now mostly for recreation, but I have participated in a few tourneys as well as several leagues and just recently decided to try this disc out, and boy am I glad I did! This disc goes straight as an arrow when thrown hard or soft! It is PERFECT for getting through very narrow fairways, specifically those with a low ceiling. This disc is scary consistent and I have even used it for some of my mid to long tee shots! I can throw this disc 250 if I need to and it does not veer off course at all. On the flip side of that, if I underthrow the disc it still doesn't move from its trajectory.  Beware if you miss your mark, because this disc will fly in that direction for a long time unless stopped by a hazard or if you throw it too high on a windy day, it will blow to the next county. That being said, if you keep a flat line or lower shot, wind won't touch this thing (at least in my experience). I definitely recommend these. The only difference I noticed between this version and the Star version is this one tends to finish with some fade whereas the Star version finishes straight with little or no fade.

As still really new to disc golf, I was hesitant to include and try to learn mid-ranges right off the bat and took the advice of only throwing with putters. After about a month of being able to confidently throw putters I did a lot of research and ended up trying the Mako 3 in champion plastic due to it's straight glide and ease to throw. Right out of the package I have taken to it and it's really a great first mid-range for me for those exact reasons - I liked the 174g champion so much i grabbed two more x-outs at 177 and 178 for windier conditions. I'm getting consistent 200+ ft throws starting out and i know that will only grow with more practice. Only other mid-ranges i've gotten that feel as natural throwing are the gateway mystic diamond and the storm eyes. The champion plastic feels nicer to me than the star right now but as they beat in i'm sure the stars are going to catch up. Definitely recommend for new players trying to build their confidence.

When I was first starting out this disc was incredible. Because I didn't have the confidence to slam it, it remained a pretty tame and straight disc that didn't fade too hard and was relatively point-and-shoot.

however now that I have a more developed throw, and have beaten it up a bit, it has become incredibly unpredictable. Thrown flat it will show understability, turn and never come back. I have this in XT plastic and it does the same thing after about a month of playing with it. Definitely has 1 or 2 fade and I would give it -1 turn.

Only way you are getting this disc to go straight is if you hyzer flip it, and in the case of my max weight champ one it will either turn right on an overpowered throw or hook and fade left on a normal throw. somehow this just doesn't want to go straight on a straight throw anymore.

Ive had some amazingly straight throws with them when they were fresh but either they beat in way too fast or I somehow outgrew them.

My champion mako3 is one of my favorite mids that I've used when I first started to even now with a little more experience. For a newer player looking to improve form or to find something that flies straight, this is highly recommended. If I ever have a new player with me or a less experienced player I hand them this disc. The rim is very comfortable, not sharp at all. I have thrown this one for a while so it is pretty beat in but it will hold any line that you put on it. I like to use it for flip up shots that will just turn right to the very end. but that being said, brand new these are surprisingly torque resistant. Granted if you full power rip this it will turn into the ground, but I've seen this be able to hold its own in moderate winds. Awesome disc.

I'm not sure if it was my exact run of Mako3 or if that's how they all are, but mine had a noticeable dome to it. I was expected an actual flat top or very slight dome per the normal 3 molds but mine was legitimately domey. But otherwise, it's a fantastic beginner disc that will expose your faults, and it does go scarily straight if thrown at the right angle, like a long putter.

I was also expecting this disc in champion plastic to be stiff as my drivers were, but I found this blend of champion to be somewhat gummy, which I personally do not prefer. I think that's normal for Innova mid-ranges in champion, but be aware it may not have the normal stiffness of drivers in champion.

    Disc: 175g Champion Mako3

The Champion Mako3 is an incredibly straight-flying disc that can be used by both beginners and advanced players. This disc rewards clean releases and high spin, while punishing releases with lots of flutter.

I use the Mako3 for hyzer-flip straight shots or flat-to-anhyzer shots when I don't want the disc to fade out at the end. It's definitely not a wind-fighter, so I'd only recommend throwing this in calm conditions or tailwinds.

As my game has progressed, I've started to favor putters over straight-to-understable midranges like the Mako3, but this disc served me well for 6+ years as my go-to straight approach disc.

If you want to learn a backhand throw and if you want to know how to use a midrange disc, USE THIS DISC. The numbers on this disc seem like a gimmick but this disc will go straight  at  any angle and as your form gets better you will get closer to hitting the chains from a distance. True wind can push it  out of optimum reach, but it will still get you to where you can just put it in within circle 2 at least. Learn how to throw straight with this disc and you'll potentially be able to use any midrange in the future.

Champion Mako3 175g - Let me start by saying when I threw this disc, I was using my noodle arm backhand. That being said, this disc will hold any angle you put on it. The problem I ran into is that it can be flipped over in any sort of wind that Kansas stirs up, making inconsistent on some of the course I frequent. However, this disc is pretty similar to its numbers, and I imagine it wouldn't take much for a beginner to learn how to throw, especially in a wooded course. If you are looking to teach yourself how to throw flat, the Mako3 may be the midrange for you!

The Mako3 does one thing, and it does it really well.  That one thing is flying straight.  The Mako3 flies very true to its flight numbers 5 / 4 / 0 / 0.  Thrown level with a medium amount of power, it will go dead straight, not turning to the right and not fading to the left.  The first time I saw this flight, it was minorly mind blowing.  Having thrown plenty of golf discs, I had an expectation about how a disc should move, even on a shot that goes fairly straight.  To see no movement at all in either direction made me sit up and pay attention.

All that being said, it takes some skill to get that type of flight.  You need to have clean form and a clean release or the disc will turn over to the right slightly with a wrist roll (nothing like a Comet, but you'll see some turn).  The Mako3 will also turn over a little bit if you throw it with a lot of power (which you can use to your advantage if you're looking for a turn over shot).  If you do have a lot of power, you can hyzer flip this disc to get the type of flight I was describing before.  If you put this disc high in the air or have the nose up, you'll also see a small amount of fade.

Outside of the straight shot, the Mako3 is not a super versatile disc.  As mentioned earlier, if you throw with power, you can get a slight turn over shot.  This disc will also hold an anhyzer through its flight as well.  But this disc is not well suited to any type of hyzer shot.  If this is the only midrange you own, you probably figure how to make it do a few different things, but I wouldn't buy this disc for anything other than straight shots.

I have the Mako3 in a nearly transparent Champion plastic, which has been incredibly durable.  Hardly even any marks on the disc.  This disc really feels like a putter, with a convex rim all the way around, but it will travel much farther than a putter.

If you love tunnel shots, you need a Mako3.  This is the ultimate tunnel shot disc.

very straight flying disc that gives you great instant feedback on release angles and spin power. I also enjoyed the amount of glide. I would say it is good for all skill levels (i would also say i know nothing of what a good pro would use let alone this disc). Cheers!

This is a straight flier. If I have a tunnel shot, I trust this disc more than any other (well, possibly my Classic Blend Judge as well). When I let her rip and put some juice on this disc, I have to throw with a bit of hyzer as it will turn on me with enough power. However, it will pretty much stay on whatever angle you put it on. Great disc to use when called upon, but I will go many rounds without using it, depending on the course.

    Straight as an Arrow!

The Mako3 is Innova's straightest disc for sure. I started with a champion Mako3 and it's lasted years without any change. Normally champion plastic is a bit overstable out of the box, but I would say the Mako3 flew the same out of the box as it does now.

Excellent disc for beginners to advanced players!

This is a straight shooter.  If you're just starting out than this a disc that you will want to put in your bag.  It lets you know when you're putting the wrong angle on it.

Update: Changing this to 5 stars because I've really grown to love this disc the more I used it.  Feels great in the hands and love the flight path

This was one of my first favorite discs. Dead straight right out of the box. I love using this off the tee too. Perfect for shorter holes, downhill shots, and tunnels you just need to go straight with very mild fade. Bigger arms may be able to get it to flip up and turnover more easily but I have to put it on some anny which it can hold pretty well.  I don't generally go to it for approaches to the basket where I prefer something a little more overstable or slower.

Straightest disc I've thrown, and it's not particularly understable. Just holds whatever line you put it on. I can get a Roc3 to go a bit further, but that ultra straight shot is really useful.

I have one in champion 180g and a Star 160g?. The star is more of a utility disc to get out of trouble and flip up tunnel shots.

This disc and a putter would be a great start for a new player. It's going to show you exactly what angle you are throwing it on.

For more experienced players this is like a longer Nova in flight. Just dead straight.

The Mako3 is the closest thing you will find to a beat-in Roc straight out of the box in terms of flight. It has a nice hyzer flip to turn line that is very useful in the woods. It isn't quite as controllable as a Roc, but it is probably easier to use for lower arm speeds. In terms of feel, the Mako3 is beadless and possesses a convex wing. For me, this felt really good and filled my hand nicely. This is a very versatile disc that can be put to good use by players of all skill levels.

Kind of a hilarious disc.  If it's thrown light, it holds the line you throw it on and slowly hyzers out.  If it's thrown hard, you're going to want to put a bit of hyzer on it to keep it from flipping.  It's my favorite disc for 275-330 or so, because it'll hold it's straight line the whole flight.  I have this disc in XT as well, but it beat in too quickly and after a week was strictly my turnover disc.  I had it in Star as well, but, not sure if it's a mind thing or not, it felt like i couldn't REALLY rip on the disc because it was a little floppy.  My 176 Champ Mako3 is my favorite disc.

This is the straightest flying disc I have thrown (RHFH).Thats isnt to say it has no fade at all though. It does have a slight fade at the very tail end of its flight but it stays straight through the first 95%+ of distance.

I think the 4 glide rating doesn't give this disc it's due. I have a tendency to overthrow my target with the Mako3 because it simply doesn't want to fall to the ground. To remedy this, I switch to RHBH and that typically solves the problem in short to medium approach situations.

While not forgiving or beginner friendly in my opinion, I wish I had this when I started playing because it really shows problems in your form because it holds any line it's put on. This isn't a workhorse mid for me, but it's staying in my bag because I don't have any other disc like it. The Mako3 is invaluable for really technical courses, and it gives me a lot of confidence with tunnel shots. I have the original Mako as well, but I prefer the Mako3's flat top because I can get smoother releases with it.

If you have a small arm or great control this disc is for you

Straight flight with a medium power throw that just glides for days and settles slightly stable. Turns over easily with too much wind or too much power on the throw.

My best shots with it are hyzerflips through tight gaps and 250-300ft upshots that i need to finish straight. Also a fantastic disc for annys, it'll ride any line you put it on.

Best uses= straight finishing shots, sweeping anhyzers, checking your form, tailwind shots

Worst uses= headwind shots, big power throws, compensating for bad form

The Mako3 is not like the original Mako, but it is an excellent midrange for straight and turning shots.  A smooth rim allows for clean releases and for easy flicks.  The Champion versions are a bit more stable than the Star ones.  Great beginner disc.  This disc can also be used to work on controlling angles with mids.

If you made me choose one disc that should be in every beginner bag, it's definitely a Mako3.  It's absolutely dead straight, seemingly regardless of arm speed.  I also find it good for up shots / approach shots when you want to make sure you don't take a weird bounce or kick - it will slide relatively easily and typically won't roll.  Great disc.

There there just isn't another disc out there that does what the mako3 does. When it comes to puring a dead straight tunnel or holding any line from start to finish, the mako3 is the undisputed king. This is a mid-range for every bag.

The Mako3, being one of Innova's "3" series discs, has a nice flat top that gives the disc a fantastic feel in the hand. Throw it at moderate power and it'll glide on whatever line you put it on, and with its great forward-penetrating fade, it's also sneaky long for a mid-range. Put around 70% or more on it, and you have a great, slow turning hyzer-flip disc. It carries the pure line of a putter work the glide of a mid.

I had the Mako3 out of my bag for a while and as soon as it returned, I wondered how I ever went without it. I cannot recommend this disc enough.

I purchased my mako 3 champion a couple months ago. I've been playing for 6 months. Still trying to get technique down. But I got my first ace with this disc roughly 150 ft whole with trees on right and left hand side. The shot just went straight toward basket with some velocity on it, if I miss basket I'm going 30, 40 ft, for long put.  I have a rock 3 champion and a buzz cheaper plastic . I know those discs are supposed to be top dog, but I prefer my mako 3 over those 2. Maybe because I'm a beginner, but I would strongly recommend New players that purchase after their starter pack. Feels good in hand and not beaded rim . That's all awesome discs. I purchased 2 more for field practise.

Great disc!  I use this primarily for anny shots because I have not yet developed a consistent forehand.  It usually works out great for me!  If I want it to stay turned over the entire flight I can count on it.  Other times, I start it turned over and it gently flexes out and falls straight down onto the target.  I occasionally get into trouble with this disc because it has sooo much glide and I overthrow my target.

Enough can not be said about this disc!!!!  You can throw with hyzer, anhyzer, it does not matter!  This is my go to disc for anything from 250-350'.  If you need a long straight shot just put a little hyzer on the Mako3 and let it flip up and ride!  If you need a slow turning shot just throw it flat!  I wish I would have had this disc when I first started playing. I have gotten several friends to start playing and this is the disc I get them to throw once they are ready to move on from putters.

How do they make a disc that flies so true? Throw this flat and it just goes straight. Throw it hyzer or anhyzer and it holds that line. Beginners need this disc as shows you exactly what you are doing wrong...and right. This was recommended to me as one of the first discs I should buy and I'm passing that recommendation on.

My first Mako3 had some dome to it and I didn't like how it felt in my hand. I gave it to my dad who just started playing disc golf and it became his favorite disc. This is the disc that helped him learn how to throw a disc properly. Very beginner friendly!

After giving my dad my first Mako3, I decided to buy a second one. This one was board flat, maybe even slightly puddle topped and feels much better in my hand (I love flat tops). My Mako3 is my least stable mid-range and a go to for the tight wooded courses in Northeast Wisconsin. I mostly use my Mako3 for backhand shots but it's also great for forehand approaches due to the flat and beadless profile.

The Mako3 is one of the best neutral midranges on the market. Don't hesitate and pick one up today!

I have been playing since June 1st of this year and started out using the Buzzz as my midrange. I then transitioned to using a DX Roc and bought this disc on a whim cause I didn't feel confident hitting straight tunnel shots with the before mentioned discs. This disc has shaved several strokes off mt score and is deadly accurate. The Mako3 in Champion plastic will hold any line you put it on and has a very minimal fade at the end of its flight. It has also helped me tremendously on my ability to gauge disc selection after playing multiple rounds with my Mako3 and realizing where my range is. I would highly recommend this disc to anyone looking for a straight flying midrange.

Have you ever taken a laser pen out to the disc golf course and aimed it straight out to the basket and noticed that the line was unbroken by any trees, and thought... hey... I wish I had a disc that could hit this straight line right here. Tada! This disc will show your laser pen a thing or two about a straight line. In all seriousness though, this disc does have just a little bit of slow speed stability, and will usually fall left over the last 5 feet of the flight. But don't let that distract from the fact that for the first 99% of the flight of this disc it is absolutely a laser beam! For beginners, this disc is insanely useful for when you are in the point and shoot phase of your game. Aim straight at the basket and let it rip with this guy!

A disc every player should have in their bag hands down. The Mako3 is a laser straight midrange that will go forever. It should definitely be the first midrange for a beginner because it is so straight and reliable. I've had one of these in my bag since I first started and it has never left for a good reason. Sometimes, if you don't throw it just right it can stable up or turn just a bit too much, but that's all operator error. Beautiful disc

The Mako3 is an extremely useful disc for any skill level of disc golfer. It's a straight flying disc, with an easy to hold rim and very responsive flight. The disc will typically turn a little on release and then straighten out for the rest of it's flight. The Mako3 is a strong compliment to the Chariot I bag, as the Chariot is on the straight to slightly stable side of the spectrum while the Mako3 is straight to understable. Once the Chariot starts to beat in I'm unsure if the Mako3 will remain in the bag instead of cycling Chariots, but we will see.

I have a nearly max-weight Champion Mako3. The plastic has held up nicely, and the particular run I got has just the right amount of flexibility - somewhat of a rarity in Champion plastic, which tends to be either too stiff or way, way too gummy.

As for the flight, I never for a moment agreed with the numbers. If you give it a good snap, you will see turn until two thirds of the way through its flight (or longer); if not, it will exhibit more than "0" fade, even without excess height. For turnover shots, though, it complements my Buzzzes nicely, being the least stable disc I normally bag. The rounded edge also lets it work out decently well for shorter rollers. Still, though, on its central premise of straightness, this disc just plain does not deliver, which is a shame.

Wow, how to begin my love sonnet to the mako3? This was the first disc I ever bought on Infinite Discs... sadly I no longer have this disc thanks to a big gust of crosswind on a big downhill drive on a ski hill. I have never seen a disc fly so straight like the mako3. I bought it after looking at that 0/0 turn/fade and the flight path diagram. As a newbie at the time, I thought, "I really want to throw predictably straight" and man did this thing deliver on the promise. My local course is short and wooded... heavily wooded. I would happily play the course with just this disc. This disc took abuse and still looked new when I lost it, thanks to the pretty champion plastic. Even though I lost this disc, I haven't yet replaced it because I'm getting a little better with my technique and don't need to rely on such a laser-straight disc. I would recommend this disc to any newbie looking to gain confidence in the reliability of their throws. Up until the point that I lost it, this was bar-none my favorite disc that I owned.

    I have a 175g Champ Mako3.

I go back and forth with how much I like this disc. The Mako3 does exactly what it says it is going to. It will fly straight if you release it straight and hold whatever line you release on unless you throw it too high. The biggest positive that this disc has is that it finishes straight. Most midranges, whether overstable or understable, will finish right or left which makes this unique.

I downgraded the glide on this disc because it doesn't feel like it will carry as far as other discs that turn and fade. Because it only goes striaght it loses some of the glide and distance that other midranges will have.

Overall this is a good disc if you know you have holes on a course that requires a straight throw that is longer than what a putter can reach. This isn't a staple of my bag because there isn't enough times where I would use it on a regular round, but for a few courses that I know have a few tight holes I'll stick this in my bag.

    174g Champion, tennis ball yellow

If you are working on your form, GET THIS DISC. It can sometimes be difficult to see release angle issues you might have with discs that are OS, or US (they tend to either "auto-correct" the opposite, or just exaggerate what you're intending to do). But not the Mako3. Release this with a slight wrist roll and watch the resulting line match it (anny all the way to the right RHBH). Unintentional hyzer release? You guessed it, it's gonna show you that line. For this reason, this disc IS difficult for beginners to use in-game, but is priceless for fieldwork. If you give this a smooth flat line (assuming the weight you have is good for your arm speed), the Mako3 will just fly for days, dead straight, to the very end of its flight. Slower arm speeds MIGHT see about a 0.25 fade at the end, while much stronger arm speeds may have a bit of turn show up on a full, hard pull. But thrown as a midrange should, it truly is point-and-shoot. And once you've cleaned up that form and learned to use different angles to your advantage, there is very little that this disc cannot do. It's a bruiser for one-disc rounds for this very reason. And if you are one of those people that likes to keep your lineup thin, this will cover a lot of shots for you. Add / subtract 0.5 stability for headwinds / tailwinds accordingly. Also, get the heaviest weight you are comfortable with. This will help overthrowing it and causing that dash of understability for stronger arms.

I'm not sure why I slept on the mako3 for so long, but I'm so glad I picked it up. It has the straightest, most true flight of any disc I've ever thrown. It hits the ground as flat as a disc can, with an extremely minimal fade. It will hold angles that you put it on, and helps get me out of trouble if I need an anhyzer flex shot to get out of trouble. With a tailwind this thing just goes. I prefer the champion mako3, because it holds its flight better after hitting things longer than star does. It feels great in the hand, and you really don't feel like you have to overpower or put a lot into the disc to get a great flight out of it.

Did I mention this thing flies STRAIGHT?!?!? It flies straight.

The Mako3 is one of only 3 molds of mids I carry for a reason. It flies so straight!!! If I put a ton of power behind it, it will turn over a little bit and finish flat around 300 feet. If I take some off of it, it is the straightest flying disc in my bag. I do not typically throw neutral discs on a hyzer, but it is also a great disc for shots like that.

As soon as I threw this disc it was a staple in my bag. The flight is so true. Whatever line you want to throw this disc on it holds it the entire flight. Great for low ceiling tunnel shots and for steady turnover shots. Depending on your arm speed you can also throw this disc with a very slight hyzer as well. Great all around midrange that wont get too understable or finish very hard at the end.

I own a Champion 173g Mako3 and the disc simply does what it was designed to do. If you're looking for a point-and-shoot mid-range disc, this is it. Holds lines well, and can be a good indicator of improper form such as off-axis-torque (OAT). When ripped hard, I find it to have a slight amount of turn, maybe a .5 but as far as achieving it's purpose as a mid-range, it begins and ends in a straight line. Champion plastic is great and not overstable out of the box as you might find with different molds. And notice that while it's beginner friendly due to its straight flight and minimal fade, pros like Paul McBeth still find many uses for it. I think every disc golfer could use this disc!

I'm a new player and I've been playing for a few months now and my favorite disc is the mako3. This disc will hold any line and it is as straight as an arrow. I love this disc so much because it does what i want it to. I recently hurt my throwing arm and having been playing using my left hand and this disc still flies perfecty.

I absolutely love this disc for very tight tunnels shots because it flies strait as an arrow. I just rip into it on a hyzer and it will pop up flat and hold that line the duration of the flight. I also like to throw it on some anhyzer shots because it will hold that line without trying to fight back like my rocs. I do have some recommendations when selecting your Mako3. I bought the Mako3 in star plastic and it broke in extremely fast, and within 2 weeks it was so under stable it is almost unthrowable. I picked up a stiffer champion Mako and it has held its out of the box form much longer. I do think it is a good disc though, as it will do almost anything you ask of it.

Edit: some people say its good up to 150-200 feet, however with the massive glide this disc has, it is easy to put it out to as far as 300-350 feet.

Midrange Disc Review: Innova Champion Mako3

The Mako3 is a great straight flying midrange disc with superior glide. This disc will float downwind to the target with ease. Best utilized for straight or turnover shots in the fairway or off of the tee. When thrown with an anhyzer angle it will hold the line fairly well the entire flight. The convex rim technology will help it fight becoming a roller and gently flex out to a soft landing. When thrown flat, it will go straight with a slight fade at the end. For a straight and true flight with a soft landing at the basket, reach for the Mako3.

Carry a 180g champion that's beating in slow and stays on lines out to about 200ft with a slight fade. My midrange of choice in all situations when I need straight flight.

I absolutely love this disc. I currently have a max-weight one in my bag and it is a go to. I typically throw it on any approach shot greater than 50 feet. It flies very true to the angle its thrown at. If you release it on a hyzer it will stay on that line, same with a nice anhyzer. Love the disc, I highly reccomend it.

This disc is great for beginners.  It is a very flat throwing good gliding disc.  I do find that if I power up on this discs I need to put a lot of hyzer on it to prevent it from flipping over.  I have replaced the Mako3 with the atlas in my bag for straight shots, and now use the Mako3 for long predectible turnover shots.

A Mako3 is what I learned to play with. It'll always be a disc I think highly of.

It's a disc that really holds the line you ask it to- give it anhyzer, it holds it to the ground, give it hyzer, it holds it to the ground. Throw it level, point and shoot. The Mako3 just gets where you want it to go. If you ever feel the need to do a one disc round, the Mako3 is one of the best choices you have. You can very easily putt with the Mako3 reliably both in and out of the circle. Its a jack of all trades disc, there really isn't anything it doesn't do respectibly.

When I lost my Mako3 it was a sad, sad day. However, I moved along to other things, and by the time I eventuall replaced my Mako3, I didn't need it in my bag anymore. Now, the Mako3 is the first disc I recommend to new players, and I loan it out a ton.

It's one of the most well rounded, beginner friendly, responsive discs on the market. In my opinion, its one of Innova's best.

The Mako3 flies very true to its numbers 0 turn 0 fade.  I am an advanced player that can throw air shots 550ft and I can put some serious torque on the Mako3 and I know it will fly straight.  Surprisingly even on short upshots where I don't throw nearly as hard the Mako3 still seems to fly relatively straight with a very subtle fade at the very end of the flight.  The Mako3 is the perfect disc for anyone looking for a disc that will do exactly what they want it to, throw it on an anhyzer and it will hold it, throw it flat it will fly straight and throw it on a hyzer and it will hold it.  Great disc, soon to become a staple in a lot of bags.

I was actually one of the few Mako fans when the disc was released. I loved the straight flight to it, but as I got better at disc golf I realized I wanted something flatter. Wouldn't you know it they came out with a flat Mako, the Mako3! Now some of them aren't as flat as I want them to be, so I have to find myself a nice flat one that feels nice in my hand. As for the flight, the Mako3 is dead straight. I can depend on it to go straight and maybe a little bit to the right every single time. It is dependable even in the wind because it does the same thing every time. It may not be the best choice for a strong headwind or crosswind, but the understability is predictable, I love my Mako3 for forehands, especially if I need a nice high anhyzer to get out of trouble (which happens often, I like to throw into the bushes). The Mako3 consistently finds its way into my bag and I still haven't found anything that I like better in it's place. Try one out today, they will shave strokes off your game!

One of my first seriously used midranges. Absolutely love that you can put this disc on any line and it behaves how you want. With almost no fade it is very easy to place your shot accurately.

I bought this disc not really knowing where it would fit into my bag. My home course is heavily wooded with tight tunnel shots. I've had different buzzz's but I couldn't ever get them to do what I wanted. This disc is very much a "point & shoot" disc for me. After it beats in, it has near zero fade. The Mako3 is perfect for a one disc round and it's easily my favorite disc in my bag. You won't be disappointed!

I began using the Mako3 shortly after I started playing disc golf. It has remained in my bag, and I currently use it as my understable mid-range. The Mako3 is a great strait flying disc, and will hold any line you put it on. For targets 300 feet and under, it flies strait with a soft fade at the end. When I start shooting for targets over 300 feet, it starts to turn over and fly on a natural anyzher line, which it holds for a long time.

One of the reasons I like this disc so much, is because of its versatility. As I said, it will hold any line, and can be used in a variety of ways. I can release this disc slightly nose up on an anhyzer and it will fly forever. It's also a really fun disc for a hyzer-flip shot. It stands up from a light hyzer and goes strait for shots 300-350. If I had to choose one disc to play an entire round with, it would in most cases be the Mako3. It has great distance, glide, and a nice soft finish.

I believe this is a great disc for beginners because of its nuetral to understable nature, its shape-abilty, and consistency. That being said, this is also a fantastic disc for golfers of all skill levels, anyone can find a use for this great disc. I can see the Mako3 having a place in my bag for a long time.

A must-have mid range disc. I recently picked up a 172g Champion Mako3 because of a recommendation from a friend, and I can't sing its praises enough. Extremely dependable and predictable, even in wind. It will hold the straightest of lines if you throw it flat, but still responds well to anny/hyzer shots if you need a much softer, graceful turn/fade.

Bought this solely because it was a US Flag holographic first run stamp, but this is the mid range that made me fall in love with mid range discs. Flies 100% straight and finds the pin.

I bought this disc at 169 grams in champion plastic.  My hope was that it would be as straight flying for me as its flight chart and most of these reviews suggest.  I could throw it straight, but only on low powered shots.  Any time I put any power into this disc it turned right (rhbh).  I prefer more stable discs that I can give a full throw and not have to worry about them going right.  I have other understable mids I prefer for that role in my bag.  Since it wasn't working for me, I ended up giving my mako3 to my wife and she really likes it.

Straight straight straight! Absolutely love this disc. Very dependable and perfect for technical shots.  This disc is excellent for tunnel shots or tight up shots. I have this is in the champion jolly launcher plastic max weight. I have used this disc a lot in the wind and it still holds a very straight line. If I put to much power on this it will hook right hard though. Moderate amount of power and it holds the line. Must try this disc out! Like a laser!

Been my go to midrange for about 6 months now. Love the feel of it in champion plastic. I have smaller hands than most of my playing partners and they're amazing on the snap and distance I get from the Mako3. Anything within 325 i've been able to control it and get within the circle fairly consistently. Great in the woods and the disc can take a beating and still hold that line. Holds a great line in most winds as well. A must have.

Hey Andrew, I am an intermediate RHBH thrower and can throw around 350 feet with a destroyer in a consistent manner. I heard a lot about Mako3 recently and would like to give it a shot. My friend is going to sell it for 10 bucks. He has a 180 gm disc and normally throw 165 to 172 champ or star plastic, max weight for dx plastic of all the innova disc. Would max weight champion Mako3 work for me? or will it to overstable? Thanks Umesh

I've had my new Mako3 (max weight) for about a week now, and I've taken out to my local course twice and almost immediately I can tell I'm going to love this disc. The champion plastic feels great and the disc seems to do what I want it to. Flies straight and glides very well, I'm no expert but the Mako3 makes me feel pretty awesome. I highly recommend picking one up, i'm glad i did!

The Mako3 is exactly what it says it is, a straight flying mid. It seems less resistant to turning over than the star plastic Mako I have, probably do to the fact that its in Champion plastic which tends to be a little more overstable. Like all the new Innova discs, this is in the new Jolley Launcher plastic. This is a great plastic for mids. It's a little grippier than traditional Champion plastic, and the super bright yellow "glows in the light." No trouble finding my discs with this awesome color.

My first throw with the Mako3 was on a challenging 330 foot downhill hole. For a backhand throw, if your disc fades, it falls off a cliff into the disc graveyard. If you turn your disc to the right, you go out of bounds into the street. I let this unproved disc fly, and it landed feet away from the basket and then skipped about 10 feet to the left setting me up for an easy birdie. I played a round with only the Mako3, (I was planning on also throwing the star plastic Mako to compare, but ended up treeing it on the above mentioned hole) and also found this disc works well as a putter too. If you're going to play a Frolf round with only one disc, this is a great one to consider. The Mako3 also works great for Anhyzer throws. It does an incredible job holding its line and was easy for me to get a right turning curve on a backhand throw. If you need to curve left, simply throw it at a hyzer angle. If you're looking for a stable straight flyer, I highly recommend the Mako3.
