This disc takes a while to master. It seems to have a bit more fade and take a bit more speed than the original Mako. The flight path is also not as straight. I was looking for something to thread trees with on wooded courses, and I am not sure this is it. It is sensitive to release angle, so throwing it with a bit of tilt up from flat makes it fly much more overstable than the numbers would suggest. If you put power into it though, that stability disappears and it swings a wide right turn. It is controllable, but will take a while to master. Newer players that can't turn it over tend to like it a lot.

This is a great disc for everyone. I got a Star X-out disc and as advertised, this disc will hold whatever line you throw it on. I got a 180g one to be able to use in the wind and regardless of conditions, the disc will go wherever you throw it. I like it for shots that need to go straight, but you can also use it for anhyzer or hyzer shots when you need to control the line. I'd highly suggest this disc for anyone!

Very neutral flying disc. It will exploit your form's flaws when throwing.

    THAT SAID....

My friend described it best: "You're basically throwing a lid."

And he's right. This thing is a straight flying, glidey, lid. If you put some juice on it you might see some turn but it will finish flat. It's a great reliable midrange.

great, straight flying beginner disc. Very flat top, with an almost sharp rim. Would recommend this or a Buzzz to every single player that is starting out!

Fast and straight. Not necessarily super straight for all throwing speeds though so choose a weight that's appropriate. I can throw this about as far as my slower control drivers but with 0 turn and 0 fade. If you need to hit a straight gap, you can feel confident with the Mako3. Great for both forehand and backhand. It has a flat top and great OAT control. This would be an excellent disc for 1 disc rounds.

This disc is the most important disc in my bag. I've had a Star plastic Mako3 for several years and it's the most comfortable and reliable disc I own. The star plastic takes a bit to wear in but once it is it's undeniable how perfect it can be for anhyzers, hyzer flips, 250ft placement shots, etc. I'm a former Ultimate player so I'm a little biased but this disc has felt familiar from the moment I first threw it.

The mako3 is an understatement to say it is perfect for all skill levels. For the beginner player it can hold straight and glide a ways without needing a lot of power. For the player starting to dial in on proper form if you can control it with some power than you can control about any disc. For more advanced players it can hold straight at any speed for touchy upshots or flip up to straight off the tee, and those without a great forehand (like myself) it will hold an anhyzer around right curving holes of seemingly any length. All the plastics it comes in effect the flight a little bit but it mostly comes down to feel. For me the star and champion plastics both work amazing. If you never thought about buying a mako3 I would suggest getting at least one.

Such a great disc! I have a star x-out Mako3, and it is slowly becoming my favorite disc. Great for throwing straight shots. I love using this off the tee on shorter holes and for upshots around 100-150 feet. I would recommend this disc to anyone looking for a reliable midrange.

I was looking for a disc that would go straight for me. My Buzzz has started being a little too understable for me. The Mako3 was a bit of a disappointment. If I put too much power on it then the disc goes left and never comes back (right hand forehand thrower). If I take some power off then it hooks right. I just can't seem to get the disc to do what I had hoped it would do. If you're not a power thrower then thos disc could be great for you. It is not great for me.

I bought a 175 gram star plastic. I got to say it took several throws to understand how this disc works but after that it is a very reliable and dependable disc to use. This disc can hold any line that you want. I usually use it for hyzer flips to flat for tunnels or make a turn shot (LHBH - going left) I got to say this disc is very versatile for a lot of different shots. Love my buzzz, but I seem to be grabbing the Mako 3 more for if I need a little more turn or need to stay straight as possible.

This disc is very beginner friendly. With more power it can be a disc that you can turn over and throw right into the ground. You have to have a little more finesse but it is still a great disc for many types of shot.

Super straight flyer. This is one of the first discs I bought after my starter set. I've loved it from day one. Star plastic is awesome and the xout lets you get a great deal on it. Highly recommend

This disc was flippier than I thought it would be. Mine is 170g but I don't think the weight is why its flippy. I've been told that the mako3 shines as a dead straight midrange thrower but my experience makes me see it as more of a slight turnover mid. Not a fan of the convex rim shape but that's just a personal preference. This disc is very susceptible to being moved around by the wind so I would recommend only throwing it in calm conditions. I did appreciate the great balance of glide and speed control this disc offers, it makes this a "point and shoot" type of mid.

I love having a Mako3 in the bag and i normally keep two.  The star plastic is great and the x-out seem to fly just like the regular ones so you might as well safe some money.  I personally hate the x out stamp so i wipe them off with some accetone.

This is a super mid for approaching shots at all levels of play.  Beginners to pros can find a use for the Mako3.  It is a super straight flying disc.  It is also useful for hyzer flips and turnover shots.  I love my beat up one for forehand turnover shots for getting out of troube.

I would recommend this disc for any beginner as a perfect fist disc.  Or any seasoned vet that does not have that comet/fuse type of slot already filled.

Was looking for a good beginner disk and kept seeing people recommend this one.  After buying I can understand why so many people recommended it.  Throws very straight which I was having difficulty with other disks.
