I'm relatively new to the sport and was looking for a straight midrange with a lot of glide to use for driving (because I'm not great a driving with drivers yet). The Mako3 stood out to me and I decided to get one after reading through some reviews. It's been fantastic to use so far! I can get long, straight flights out of it with relative ease, and it responds well to various heizer/anheizer angles that I put on it to get around obstacles. Since I play a lot of wooded courses, it's very useful to be able to drive straight. I definitely would recommend this disc for beginners, as well as anyone who needs a true straight-flyer.

I got this disc for cheap when I was just starting and wanted a midrange. It was the first one I bought and I liked it at first but then started to stop using it as much. Then when I lost the putter I liked I had to use this and I found another use for it. This disc is great for far putts and has gone in from very far. It is also good for approach shots as it flys straight and will sit instead of rolling all over the place

My time with the Mako3 was pleasant. In calm conditions it would output whatever I have it. Throw on hyzer? It'll fly on hyzer with a smidge of flip. It taught me control and that I needed to work on angles. Oddly, some of my straightest forehands I've ever thrown were with the Mako3. I ended up graduating from it and giving mine to a friend but it is a fantastic teacher of control and angles. I'd honestly recommend this disc for any beginner wanting to begin working on getting better.

This was my go to straight flying mid range for a long time. For me it was a straight flying disc, which was the shot I liked the most and was the best at when I first started playing disc golf. But it is a disc that will help you learn about angles. It will hold anhyzer and hyzer lines and not come out of them. I haven't thrown this disc since falling in love with the Hex and developing more power but I always throw this disc with more finesse than straight power.

Feel- The hand feel of the mold is solid when it comes to midranges, what's better is the plastic. Star plastic feels a tad bit softer than ESP and in my opinion it is just right.

Flight- This disc thrown on a slight bit of hyzer will flip of and hold turn all the way with a baby forward finish. You can easily make this flip up and fly straight with the right degree of hyzer

Use- Any hole that requires a disc to hold a turn the whole way through. I find myself depending on this disc on tight wooded courses. (Mako3 - Star Plastic - 170g+)

Important- I have an above average arm so keep that in mind while reading my review.

This should have been the first non-putter disc I ever bought. It does exactly what your wrist tells it to do; if you throw it straight, it will fly STRAIGHT. Finally starting to figure out forehands with it as well, but I have zero negative things to say about the Mako3. I have always thrown Star plastic, but have a Champion Mako3 on the way to compare.

The Star Mako3 is the perfect disc for beginners. It is also fantastic for doing fieldwork or working on form. I use it for woods shots that hyzer flip to flat or that need a very late turn. It is an extremely workable midrange that can be manipulated to hold any line required.

Great disc for tight fairways.  If you are using it for touch approaches, it will have a slight fade finish. Like a .5 or 1. If you put the stank on the mako it will get some decent turn and then fight back a touch. Not my main midrange but in the bag for lazer beam straight  or turnover shots

There is so much I love about this disc but not everything. It's really comfortable, it glides for days, it goes where you point it, but if you are off by an inch it can be terrible. It's great for beginners to help them learn to throw specific angles. I thought I would love this for tight wooded shots but it's not very forgiving. If your form isn't perfect with the Mako3 things can go south very quick.

Thought this was going to be a point and shoot disc, but I couldn't get mine to stop turning over. Even throwing on hyzer, it would flip up with some small amount of turn still. I was looking for more of a straight flying disc, rather than a flippy mid. Maybe it was just the one I got.

I hadn't been using midranges much for a couple years as one from a starter set was too light, and my other one was used by my wife most of the time, but I finally decided to get some back in my bag. I picked up the Mako3 to have a heavier midrange, and it has been working quite well. I like the feel of the disc, and it releases well for me (I am a fan of the Star plastic's feel and durability). Compared to other discs I typically throw, it's certainly less stable, so I have to make sure I put it on hyzer to get the straight shots I most often want, though sometimes it is useful to have a disc that will curve right more than others. This has helped me rediscover the utility of midranges, and I've started throwing this on holes where in the past I'd default to a driver: I still get the distance I need but can do so in tighter lanes than the drivers permit.

My first love! The Mako3 was the disc that started it all for me. Now with a few aces on it, I still bag the same beat in orange (now more yellow) star Mako3 that I first threw with years ago. This disc is excellent for learning to shape shots because it will do exactly what you tell it to do, by far the most truly "neutral" disc I've ever thrown. I recommend all beginners bag a mako3 and play a few rounds using only the mako3.
Works great backhand, or forehand for tight wooded holes, mid-length approaches, or off the tee. I even putt this disc sometimes. The Halo star (about .5-1 fade) is exactly what I want out of a neutral mid-range and find myself reaching for it on almost every hole.

I've played disc golf for about two years now, and my appreciation for this disc has remained the same. The Mako3 is the perfect disc for beginners to take that next step to intermediate. The flight numbers are true, as this disc is the straightest flyer in my bag, even with minimal effort. I can change my arm angle to make this disc shape any shot, and it gently drops to the ground, regardless of how much height I give my throw.

If you are looking to improve your game, I highly recommend grabbing a Mako3, and consider playing a round exclusively with this disc. It will help correct your form and you will learn release points and angles over time.

As for the flight, this disc is surprisingly torque-resistant on backhands. On a full-power shot, the disc doesn't immediately turn over, and the reliable fade gives the player predictability. I found my second ace with a Mako3 on a slight hyzer flip, 270-foot hole. Please bag this disc, in any plastic. You'll be doing your game a favor.

The Mako3 is a very neutral flying mid range disc. If you are familiar with mid ranges especially the classic roc and you are looking for a more straight flyer with something that doesn't finish left or too far right then this is the next disc you need to get. Some people will say the Wombat3 is similar to a putter but with more glide and of course a midrange distance which is spot on. If you put it on a slight hisser it will flip up slowly to insure that it'll get far down the fairway enough before it stands up and finishes straight or ever so slightly to the right throwing RHBH. I would say this is definitely a must in every Innova fans' bag. It is the bread and butter right along with the roc3 as far as mid range discs go. Oh and it is very true to its flight characteristics so expect a consistent flight every single time.

Great straight beginner disc or advanced turnover disc, DO NOT get it in max weight, way too inconsistent. 165-170 seems to be the sweet spot.
As a beginner with a slow arm it will be a laser beam straight thrower. After you develop speed and control it will be an incredibly consistent turnover disc. Throw it flat and it will reliably and predictably turn for you.

Every mako I've thrown has had a beat-in period, but it doesn't seem to be getting any less stable after. My star mako3 has remained in my bag since the day I got it and gets thrown every single round I play.

The only problem this disc has is, during that in-between phase where you are starting to throw faster and harder, it will sometimes behave erratically. It has a weird teenage phase where you will want to toss it out of your bag. Honestly, probably toss it and pick it up again later as a turnover thrower. You won't regret it.

I would say in general mako3's have a -1 to -1.5 turn. Max weight ones will fly very inconsistently. Sometimes drifting left sometimes drifting right, never quite where you want it to go.

These flight extremely straight and took me a while to figure out the release angle, but once I did, this became my go to disc for tight wooded shots over 250'.

This disc will fly on whatever angle you release it on and then add a slight turn, and will NOT fight back. I would give this a -1 Turn rating as it always tries to flip to flat or turn on me, but with enough hyzer angle on release it just goes and goes.

The rim and edge are forgiving and easy to hold and the soft star plastic gives you the extra grip.

When I was building my first disc golf bag, I wanted a midrange that could fly exactly where I wanted it to go. I first saw the Mako3's flight path, and I didn't believe it; however, when I got one for myself, I found it to be true. The Mako3 seems to defy everything I thought I knew about how a disc should fly. When thrown flat, it goes absolutely, perfectly straight. If I add a bit more power on a slight hyzer release, it will flip up to flat and continue totally straight. Because of its neutral stability, it will hold absolutely any line that it is put on. It requires good form to fly according to the numbers, but when you release it correctly, there aren't many better feelings in all of disc golf.

The star plastic is remarkably durable, as well. I have noticed that the disc has become slightly more understable as I have bashed it into trees countless times, but the disc is completely free of any cosmetic damage. It is truly impressive compared to other discs in my bag.

Overall, I believe that the Mako3 is an essential disc for all disc golfers to at least try at some point. Its straight flight path is unbelievably effective and equally as satisfying. The neutral flight creates many opportunities for shot shaping, and it is truly a one-of-a-kind disc in my bag.

Was my favorite disc when i first started playing, but I've had a harder time with it lately. Im still a beginner but now that I have a little more power I have a tendency to turn it over. For that reason, I rarely find myself using it in rounds. I prefer something with a little more stability. Maybe when I'm a little more experienced and have more finesse I will use it more for dead straight shots.

This was one of the first mid-range discs I purchased when I started playing a few months ago. It has become one of my favorite discs for shot shaping, especially anhyzer lines around obstacles. It has a dependable line and will hold whether throwing hyzer or anhyzer. I love it in a pinch for scramble shots because it's so easy to shape in so many ways. It's also been a good disc for me when I just need a straight line to the target. I think it's a great disc for beginners or any level.

When I compare it to my Latitude 64 Fuse, which has a higher glide number, I've found that the Mako3 has more glide for me in almost every case. That's been my experience. I highly recommend this disc.

So good. I've heard people call this the straightest disc on market and I believe it. It's very straight and workable for a lot of gently fading lines or big turnovers. My only complaint is it is slightly awkward in hand for me but you may not have that problem. For beginners it will show you really well what your release is looking like because it will follow the line you put it on. Great learning disc and for experienced players.

I'm very torn about the mako3. It feels very comfortable and it's a good hyzer flip disc but I've never really been able to get along with it the way I would have liked. I think it's not as under stable or overstable as I ever expect it to be. I throw it expecting it to hyzer flip to turn and instead it hyzers out, then I'll throw it flat and expect it to fly straight and fade slightly, and it'll turn over and never come back.

I would definitely recommend it to people both beginners and more advanced because even though it's never really worked for me, I know the mako3 is a fantastic disc that isn't too beefy for beginners and is great for hyzer flips and turnovers for advanced players.

There are many reviews on what makes the Mako3 great - so I'll say how I use it and why I love it. As long as there isn't strong wind, the Mako3 is used on 90% of my shots from 80'-220' - primarily forehand. The mako makes it easy to get dialed in and pure a standstill shot - whether powering down for a 80' run or a faster 200' shot that needs to carve around trees. It can go dead straight on a slight flip-to-flat or take a huge anny hook that most players would prefer to throw backhand. Perfect disc. Mine is about 3 years old and when new = 5/4/0/0.5. Well seasoned = 5/5/-1/0

There's not too much to say about this disc. It's straight. It's whatever angle you put it on. Forehand or backhand. For a beginner this is possibly the only midrange you'll need for some time. For me the Dynamic Discs Truth edges out my Mako3 for most shots, but this is an amazing straight flyer with almost no fade.

This Mako3 in Star plastic definitely lives up to all the reviews I read, as a beginner I was looking for a more stable disc that would hold whatever line I throw and this disc does just that. With the Star plastic too there is a good bit of rim on the disc which has made this a very comfortable disc to throw and learn forehands with too and now I feel comfortable throwing forehands with it anytime they're called for. 10/10 would buy again and again.

The Mako3 has been my favorite Mid since i started playing just for it's straight reliable flight. Currently I bag 2 (champion and star plastic) each are generally straight flying with tons of glide for effortless distance up to about 300' for me. Both have some slight flip in them as they've worn in but champion plastic tends to be a tad more stable with some fade at the end of the flight while i rely on the star plastic to get me the straightest flight possible or even for something with slight gradual turn throughout the entire duration of the flight.

I would recommend this disc in any plastic for a beginner as the nuances that come with each plastic aren't really all that important for someone starting out. I would say its a little easier to use for beginners than a Buzzz or a Truth as the Mako3 really just wants to fly straight. The biggest difference from the other 2 discs I mentioned is the much thicker rim that the Mako3 has which may be more comfortable for some players.

    Perfect Disc for Beginners

I highly recommend this disc for anyone who is starting out and looking for a disc that will fly as straight as possible. I got a Star Mako3 earlier this summer, and it quickly became a favorite for me as I hit my first ever ace with it. On the hole I aced, I typically throw a stable putter and try to fade it into the basket. I decided I would try to laser a backhand with my Mako3, and it was beautiful to watch. If only I could do that with more consistency...

I typically find this disc the most useful on thin tunnel shots or tighter uphill shots, but I have also found a use for it when it comes to needing a mid-range anhyzer. If you get the correct angle on it, the Mako3 makes the turn and fades out super soft.

I am sure any player will find good uses for this disc!

The perfect starter disc has been made, and it's the Mako3.

I came from an Ultimate Frisbee background and a quick google of "best discs for former Ultimate players" put me through a few midranges and I snagged a Mako3 just based on the flight chart. "Why would I want a disc to go anywhere I don't tell it to go!?"  I love this thing, it goes exactly where you tell it to go.

Every beginner should throw this disc. If it goes to the right, it's because you're releasing it to the right, to the left? yep you're angling it to the left.

Throw this and a putter for a month or two and once you can throw a straight shot you've got everything you need to have fun with this game.  And once you can throw a midrange far you'll rip a driver.

Pick this dics up and keep it in your bag forever.

    You will thank me later.

I was given this disc by someone a few weeks ago who did not like it. I am really liking what it can do. It stays on what ever path you start it on for almost the entire flight, (straight, hyzer, anhyzer). It will do this for both forehand and backhand throws as well.

The one thing that makes this disc special and unique though is that the flight path stays the same no matter how much power you put in it. Whether it is a short 50-100ft shot forehand or backhand it just stays on the path you throw it on. Or if you power up to a 250-275 ft shot, it just stays on the flight path you start it on.

I actually practiced flick puts in my back yard from about 45ft away, and the shots I would sink were just flicked at the chains on the left side of the basket. A low powered flick would only drift to the right about 6 inches over the 45 feet of flight and hit dead center in the chains.

This disc has earned a spot in my bag, and my driving and approach putter is being used less now.

This is my favorite midrange disc! This disc will fly as straight as an arrow if you release it at no angle, and it will keep a steady hyzer angle if you throw it as such. This disc is so reliable when you want to park it next to the basket from around 100 ft or so away. This all being said, however, the disc is only as good as your form is. Since it travels exactly how you release it, it will expose bad form. For me, it helped me get a cleaner release on my backhands. This is s disc you will need in your bag for sure! 5/5!

The Mako3 is possibly the best disc for a newer player to figure out flaws in their form. The 0,0 Turn + Fade rating is very true for the Mako3. It will fly dead straight, and also hold whatever line you put it on. It is an excellent midrange, especially for backhands. The Star plastic feels great in the hand, and makes for a very great thrower for someone of any skill level. This was the disc that helped me fix my form the most, and is still in my bag to this point. It is a very versatile disc, I have even seen people putt with it. Overall, it is in my opinion the best midrange available in the Innova lineup.

I bought a couple of these in Star plastic (both around 175 grams or so), after losing my jawbreaker Buzzz into a creek. Turns out, I like this more than the Buzzz for a straight-flying midrange (though I do miss the grippiness of the jawbreaker plastic). The Mako3 is a great disc for a 'one disc round,' especially on a pitch n' putt course. I can pretty consistently get it out about 200-250 feet, and with a lot more control than my faster fairway drivers. It's my go-to for tight gaps through trees, and does well for any straightforward tee shot of about 200 feet.

For some reason this disc just doesn't work for me but i cant deny that it is good for many people. Every time i throw this disc i release late and it goes flying in the opposite direction i wanted even though i am a really good player with any other disc. I think it is the thick rim that i hate for gripping but it is a good straight flying disc that can teach you angles if you are a beginner.

Great for all skill levels. Get this if you're a beginner for sure! It will help teach you release angles. Mine is a 180g (max weight) Star Mako3. I bought 2 of the same and both came with bad flashing on the bottom to the point of they were sharp. I slid 1 across asphalt evenly a few times and that did the trick. Probably not recommended, but the flashing needed to go. Thing flies straight as an arrow. Great for FHs too. Use it for any straight shots or shots leaning to the right 250ft or less. Doesn't need much speed IMO.

I love the Mako3. I have 2 in star plastic. They fly reliably straight and are a go-to in my bag for tunnel shots. Occasionally, on the smallest of hyzers, will the mako3 flip up to flat, but usually, it will just hold whatever line you put it on. This is also the reason why beginners will either love or hate this disc, if released properly this disc will go straight, if it is released early or late the mako3 will follow the path that it was put on. There is not much, if any, turn or fade in this disc to save you from a bad shot, it goes straight and finishes straight.

As a 20 year Ultimate frisbee player I was super frustrated starting out in this sport. Every disk I threw did some crazy curve I wasn't used to.

That all changed with the Mako3 This disk goes exactly where I point it. Straight? You got it, Put a little inside out Yep fly's true. Toss a hammer through some trees? You bet!

I have 3 of them in different plastics in my bag now This thing is perfect for anyone wanting to learn where to throw the disk without any change from the "disk" Then you can grab a different one and watch it curve wherever you want it.

    Love it.

This is probably one of the best beginner discs on the market. It is both really easy to throw and will inform you about mistakes in your form.

I've owned several in Star and Champion plastic, and, depending on the course, a 180g Star Mako3 makes it into my bag. I bag the Star because, in my experience, the champion ones are a touch more overstable than the star, and this is a disc that I bag for its neutral flight rating. Even when they don't make it into the bag, these are great discs for fieldwork and perfect loaners for folks new to the sport.

The disc is wide diameter and has a easy to hold beadless shallow rim. The top is usually close to flat with just the slightest hint of a dome. Overall, it is very easy to grip.

The flight is true to the ratings 5/5/0/0. If you release this flat (and with enough power to get it up to speed) it will go perfectly straight. If you put it in on anhyzer, it will hold it. Same with a hyzer. If you throw this disc and it turns on you, you are either throwing it too hard, or there is something wrong with your form (and i'd wager on the latter for 95% of disc golfers). This makes it great for perfectly straight tunnels in the woods, especially when you need to hit a gap 100 feet or more down the fairway. Ultimate players will love this disc. I don't throw it on forehands, but I suspect that the wide diamater and lack of torque resistance make it less than ideal for those shots. If you are a forehand dominant player, get one of these and learn to throw better backhands!

Mako3 is a super beginner friendly, very straight flying midrange disc. I love it for straight shots and hyzers, which is what the game is made of. As a former ultimate frisbee player, this disc feels and flies somewhat similarly to an Ultra-Star (or other ultimate disc). Star or G-Star plastic is my preference, and I love the slight dominess in this mold. You can rip a Mako3 at full power and know exactly where it is headed.

This thing is so fun. With good arm speed, this is an understandable midrange that you can make do whatever you want it to. I put this thing on hyzer and let it fly straight for days. Or I throw it flat and let it turn right for an entire flight. But my favorite shot is a super high turnover that will never come out of the angle you put it on. One of the best beginner discs you can find and can hold use for any player of any skill.

Very unique disc in the sense that it flies dead straight; not and understable path where it turns before finishing on the same line, but literally a straight path from point A to B. This was one of the first discs I used as a beginner and I'm glad that it was, because the Mako3 is great for helping you improve form. While it has a dead straight flight path when thrown correctly, I've found the disc to not be very forgiving if thrown poorly. However, that's part of what makes it a great tool to have.

I love this disc. It has become my favorite "go-to" disc on any type of course. It goes straight when I need it to go straight. I can hyzer or anhyzer and it keeps its line beautifully. It lands softly and does not stray far from landing. I can throw it softly or hard and it responds positively every time. I actually have this disc in GStar plastic in 176 grams but will be adding other plastics - Champion and Star -  to the lineup. I highly recommend this disc as an awesome startup disc because of its straight flight and soft fade as well as the graceful landing. And I most definitely do not want to forget to mention the grip. It is very easy to grip and I love the feel of the grip and the release.

I would give this disc six stars if I could.  It flies very straight with minimal fade and does a pretty good job of holding various lines.  It performs well off the tee and is reliable as an approach disc.  My home course has some very tight wooded lines and this is one of my most used discs.  This is the kind of disc that will help anyone's mid and short game.  You really don't have to overthink this disc, just point and shoot.  It really is as easy as that!

As a beginner, this disc is my go-to for almost any shot.  It is incredibly straight and takes well to any line I try to throw it on.  The profile feels great in the hand and the Star plastic is just tacky enough to hold onto but also hold up well every time I smash it into a tree. I tried a bunch of different midrange discs (Buzzz, Roc, Element) and this was the first disc I was able to consistently throw straight and far.

The Mako3 is one of the discs most commonly recommended to new players. However, this does not mean the Mako3 is easy to use at all. The Mako3 is great for beginners because it hold whatever angle you put on it. If you release with hyzer, the disc will hold hyzer. If you release with anyhyzer, the disc will hold anhyzer. If you release flat, the disc will fly dead straight. Use the Mako3 to train yourself how to properly release a disc on the angle you intend to. For the more advanced players, you may want to look for a more forgiving disc to make your bag. Don't overlook the Mako3 as a training device, though. Take some Mako3's out to the field and work hard on hitting the precise angle you're trying to.

We recently bought a 168g Star version of this disc.  My 10-year-old son pretty much claimed it right away.  It seems to be a good disc for beginners and intermediate players with good glide.  Even though he is 10, my son has a decent arm and Mako3 flies straight even when he throws it hard.  It is very predictable and feels good and confidence-inspiring.  If the disc is wet, it gets a little slippery in Star plastic, but that's a minor complaint.  I prefer Infinite Disc's Chariot and Discraft's Buzzz, but that might be partially because we have had those longer and I am more familiar with them.  Chariot is the midrange disc that I primarily use and my son likes Chariot and Mako3 equally.  In general, I recommend avoiding Innova's DX plastic.  Spend the extra money for Pro plastic or better.

This disc is about as point and shoot as it gets. I absolutely love the control I have when throwing this disc, which makes it one of the better mid range discs available. It holds any angle that you can think to throw it on. I particularly love this for anhyzer or flat straight shots because that's when this disc performs its greatest. It is particularly easy to throw in the lighter weights as well (mine is 175). I've been using this disc in most mid range situations lately and my game has benefited  from it. I even use this disc to jump putt from outside 50 feet and it is money for me because it rewards good form and accuracy. I recommend this disc to anyone playing disc golf, and this may be one of the better discs for a beginner to pick up to learn how to throw because it will correct poor form due to its incredible ability to hold an angle.

This was one of the first discs I got, found it at a sporting goods store. I was new to the sport and just wanted something to go straight. Unfortunately, due to my own bad form, straight was the last thing this disc did. I throw forehand predominantly and would either over torque the disc and turn hard left or too gentle and hyzer it off to the right. I didn't take it out of my bag for 6 months, but once I finally did, I found my form had improved and I could actually get it to fly straight as an arrow as intended! This is both a good and a bad thing. You better make sure your release point is accurate because this thing will fly directly straight where you release it. I use it now to get through tightly wooded fairways.

This disc is just incredible! I've been discing for around 15 years now mostly for recreation, but I have participated in a few tourneys as well as several leagues and just recently decided to try this disc out, and boy am I glad I did! This disc goes straight as an arrow when thrown hard or soft! It is PERFECT for getting through very narrow fairways, specifically those with a low ceiling. This disc is scary consistent and I have even used it for some of my mid to long tee shots! I can throw this disc 250 if I need to and it does not veer off course at all. On the flip side of that, if I underthrow the disc it still doesn't move from its trajectory.  Beware if you miss your mark, because this disc will fly in that direction for a long time unless stopped by a hazard or if you throw it too high on a windy day, it will blow to the next county. That being said, if you keep a flat line or lower shot, wind won't touch this thing (at least in my experience). I definitely recommend the Star version of this disc. I haven't tried the Champion for this, but I can't imagine the Champion being any better as this just feels so nice in your hand!

I'm a former ultimate player who recently picked up disc golf. I bought this disc due to many websites recommending the disc for ultimate players. I'm a forehand heavy player who uses forehand for most drives, then backhand for approaches. This disc would start out very true and straight, but I found this disc to turn more than expected on drives after a few holes when my arm was fully warmed up. The discs flies straighter on backhands so I think it has trouble handling the torque from a forehand drive.

I still use the disc a lot as it can hold both anhyzer and hyzer lines on wooded courses to get me out of trouble. I recommend this disc to other beginners and ultimate players as it helps you with your release angles. The star plastic has great grip and durability. I still have a star in my bag for straight shots (dial back on power to prevent turn) and a Gstar for shots when I need an understable disc that will turn to the right on a left handed forehand shot.

When you really need it to it will just go dead straight. It will also hold a long anhyzer on a firm throw or it will also work around corners on a finesse anhyzer or hyzer. You really need a couple in the same plastic and weight so you can really practice its capabilities in fieldwork. This disc has saved me more than any other disc in my bag. When anyone asks if I have any disc suggestions, I always recommend the Mako3.

A 167g Mako3 in Champion plastic was the very first disc I purchased after my starter set. Immediately the straight lines I could achieve were almost unbelievable and impressed my friends and brothers to the point that they all now bag a Mako3 in Star or Champion. In fact, the brother who introduced me to disc golf wanted my Mako3 the very first time I let him throw it. He loved it so much that he now bags two and also purchased one for his wife.

Mine is flat-topped with a very shallow beadless rim. It feels great in the hand and excels at holding a line. This disc shines in tight, straight tunnels and on any 200-300ft straight approach with low wind conditions. If the fairway curves right, I put on some RHBH anhyzer and watch this magical disc hold it through flight. If I rip it with some hyzer, the disc flips to flat and gets some extremely straight distance out to 325 feet. I will always bag a Mako3 and plan to size up to 180g.

The mako3 is a super neutral and straight-flying beadless midrange, probably one of the straightest discs out there. It's super easy to get up to speed with low effort and responds to how you throw it. It's got some nice glide but still easy to control, and not totally unforgiving on a sloppy release It's a really great first mid for beginners to start learning how to control their angles.  And I've seen some advanced players put this thing on some clean lines including tight tunnel shots.

I got a star mako3 in a beginner's pack when I first started playing and although I see its value as a versatile mid, and I really liked the star plastic, it just never clicked with me. I didn't like the feel of the rim, it felt kind of small and cramped to me and I couldn't get a confident hold. It also wasn't doing much more for me than my star aviar could do, and I prefer to use my comet for line shaping in the woods. The comet can do everything the mako3 can do and more so it won't be leaving my bag. I also prefer beads on my mids so take that with a grain of salt.

Overall the star mako3 is one of the best mids out there and a great mid anyone who needs a controllable straight flyer and doesn't like the feel of a bead on their mid. It just wasn't for me.

It is useful for hitting tight lines in wooded areas and I also use it for dead straight upshots. It is a touch more understable than I would like, but this is likely related to the weight of the disc, not the mold.

I throw mostly backhand with this disc, but throw forehand upshots fairly often as well. The Mako3 has a flat top and fits comfortably in the hand for either forehand or backhand.

I'd recommend this disc if you need a straight-flying midrange that holds the line you put it on. Easy for beginners to use but still a helpful disc for more experienced players.

The Mako3 was my first midrange. It was my go-to for just about whatever shot inside around 275 feet for a long time. the one complaint I have with it is that is not as comfortable in the hand as the Buzzz, which is why I switched over. Still, an arrow straight disc for any skill level, even if you don't drain 141 foot forehands with it like Nate Sexton ;)

P.S. My disc was in champion plastic, but I don't see that as an option for plastic type.

Ahhhh Mako3, the one disc that pretty much every disc golfer should have (or at least something similar). I keep two in my bag, a lightweight for throws that need some more turn, and a max weight for a flight that is straight and narrow. There really isn't anything this disc couldn't do if you tried it (except maybe rollers, but maybe someone could be brave enough to give it a try). Not much else to say, just give one a try, even if you don't throw innova all the time.

The mako3 is a perfect understable midrange with minimal fade.  It feels great in the hand and can be one of the straightest short-range discs in one's bag.  Usually people associate consistency with overstable discs that have a lot of fade, but the mako3 is one of the most consistent understable discs I've tried.  It isn't super flippy as well which makes it very versatile.  If thrown soft and smoothly, it can hold a hyzer line without flipping up.  If thrown with more power, it will flip up and turn over smoothly, landing flat.  A great disc for anyone, especially for players who need a good disc for tunnel shots that are a bit too long for putters.

I bought a Champion Mako3 looking for something to throw dead straight through tight gaps on wooded holes.  Unfortunately, I haven't been able to use it for that purpose as something about my form/grip caused me to turn it over too frequently when thrown with any power (I'm sure it's me, and not the disc).

Instead of giving up and pulling it out of the bag, I started using it on short touch upshots (~100'-175') and throwing it with less power.  Throwing it at a more pitch-and-catch strength introduces a little late fade but the flight was consistent for me and now I use the Mako3 for these shots routinely.  I suppose many players would use putter from those distances but I like the heft of the Mako3 for it.

    Disc - 175 Innova Star Mako3

Feel - The Mako3 is very comfortable in the hand. It is not super deep for a mid and the rim is convex with no bead. It fits nicely into the hand and comes out very cleanly. Star plastic is very durable and gives a great grip in all weather conditions. The Mako3 feels good for both forehand and backhand throws.

Flight - The Mako3 flies very nicely. The disc that I have was bought used so it was already fairly beat in and works as a hyzer flip or turnover mid for me. I really enjoy watching this disc fly because it will go very straight if given hyzer or it will turn nicely if thrown flat. You do not want to overpower this disc though because it can become fairly touchy if thrown with a lot of torque. I love the Mako3 for turnover mid range shots or laser straight hyzer flips in the woods. If you are player who plays on a lot of wooded courses, the Mako3 would be a great addition to a players bag.

Overall - Like I said before, this disc is great for in the woods, but can be used in the open as well. I think it would be a great tool for beginners to learn their form and learn how to throw the disc properly. I would definitely recommend the Mako3 to a player who needs a little more under stable compliment to their roc or buzzz or EMac truth.

Absolutely one of my favorite mid ranges ever. This is my go to midrange for straight tight shots or gentle turnover shots. The only days I never touch this disc is when it is really windy out. I believe this is a great mid range for every level of player and forehand or backhand. I'm still working on getting the forehand down which is tricky because the disc wants to turn over easy. If you have a moment, CCDG has a video of Nate Sexton forehanding this disc multiple times from 120 plus feet and canning 2 of them on a perfectly straight line in a champs v chumps match.

Wow. I love this disc. I really like thevAviat putters, and when I was first learning, I primarily played Aviar only rounds. I recently picked up a Mako3, took it to a driving range, then played a round with it. This disc is awesome.

It has an almost identical feel to an Aviar, just a slightly more shallow rim. The angles and rim feel identical otherwise. If you were to hand me an unmarked Mako3 and tell me it was an Aviar variant, I might believe it.

My former straight shooting midrange was an Atlas, which I do intend to keep, but I like the idea of having molds thatvall feel the same in a given range, and an Atlas feels completely different from most other discs.

I am consitantly able to send this disc around 200 feet, pretty straight. The disc holds lines well and goes where you expect it to. Throw it on a hyzer or anhyzer line, and it rides that line to the ground. Throw it nose up to get over an obstacle, it eventually loses momentum and just drops from the sky, ever so slightly to the left (rhbh). Throw it straight and hard, and it just bee-lines toward your target.

This disc will never leave my bag (unless it finally gets a little too beat in and I replace it with one just like it).  It is THE disc I go to for anything from 150 to putting distance.  It will simply fly straight at the basket then sit down parked under it.  Unless I'm in the woods and need it to hold an angle in which it holds the hyzer or anhyzer (doesn't really matter how much or how little) line I put it on and then flies under the basket and parks.  I've used this disc for quite a while now and I'm still often amazed at how it held the line for the whole flight.  I primarily throw it backhand but it feels great and just as controlable on short flicks up as well.  I don't usually throw it for power shots or drives but it stands up to a full shot (from me anyway) if I release on just a little hyzer and let it flip up.

This is an awesome midrange. Everything about it is amazing. It goes perfectly straight for the whole way, just like the numbers say. It has a very comfortable rim for every kind of throw because it has no bead and a rounded edge. It skims the ground a lot when it lands too, so it is really great for tunnel shots. I have also tried putting with this and have been surprised at how good it is for that too.

Star Mako3 (180g) - When I first started playing disc as an adult about two years ago I had this old Champion Cobra that had been sitting on my parents' screened porch since probably 2005 when I got my first golf discs. We used to play object golf so this thing had been beaten up and was very neutral in flight. Of the discs I had, DX Aviar, DX Teebird, and this Champ Cobra it was the only one I could reliably throw, but holy moly did it fly straight. It was beadless and had a thin rim and large diameter and it would glide for days (not unlike an ultimate disc, which I had been playing up to this point). I went to my disc golf store and asked for something similar and they suggested a Mako3 due to the rim design and flight numbers I described...I hated it! It was more stable than that old cobra and I couldn't control the angles. Flash forward two years and now I've got a Mako3 in the bag and I love it. I can throw different speeds and angles now and it was been a really helpful teaching tool as I learned. I love the feel in hand and the large diameter. It is one of the straightest flying discs with great glide I've found on the market today. I highly recommend it.

I'm sure almost everything has been said about this disc, but if you want to buy one disc and go play a round...this is it.  You can drive this thing and, with a little hyzer, handle decent speed.  Being so straight, it's also excellent for touch shots, whether straight, hyzer or anhyzer.  You can even putt with this disc!

I love this disc for tunnel shots and turnover approaches.  I use this disc for backhand straight shots, forehand straight shots, forehand turnovers, and backhand turnovers.  This disc has some insane glide on it, so you have to make sure you don't throw it past the basket.  One thing I didn't like about this disc is that I have to throw it with hyzer to get it to go straight, and for forehand I have to give it a ton of hyzer to prevent it from turning over which can make it hard to get distance.  This disc is a great disc to practice form, it will show your flaws very quickly.  This is a great disc for beginners to learn better form and is relativly easy to throw.

Purpose:  I use this disc for a little of everything.  It is a very straight flyer, but if you really give it angle or power you can get a very nice turning/anny shot.   It has a very nice rim on the disc that can be used for forehands (similar to the zone in feel, just a bit larger).  It is a workhorse in my bag.

I love this disc because it is workable.  You can get a straight mid range shot, turn over or get out of trouble with a flick.  While I have a roc that is very similar in stability, I often reach for this disc because I can easily replace it.

This disc is also very good for showing flaws in your form.  So it is a good disc to train with when working or modifiying your form.

This is the perfect beginner disc. This was my first purchase along with an XT Nova when learning disc golf. It will show any flaws you have in your form such as wrist roll or off axis torque. Like most star plastics, it starts out relatively straight with a slight finish at the end (5/5/0/.5), but after a few months play and some tree hits, it quickly becomes the go to midrange woods disc. It holds whatever line you put it on. After it beats in a little it is great for easy hyzer flips, that ever so slowly turn and then finish dead straight with minimal fade. Any straight shot <250 ft this is my go to. After a year of use, my 176 g flies similar to a beat in roc but without the bead. The star plastic feels great in the hand and it comes in some great colors. Whether it ends up in your bag, this disc is a must have for any field work if you want to improve your form and get more distance. It is extremely predictable and smooth and no matter what skill level you are I would 100% recommend this disc.

What a great disc. I didn't pick my first one up until I started playing regularly, but I wish I had sooner. For someone who doesn't like to throw putters off the tee, this guy is the perfect substitute. I've currently got 3 in my bag: 1 XT and 2 star plastic. It's not the most workable disc I throw, but reliably holds the line you put it on in any wind up to a strong headwind. Any shot inside 300' that requires precision This is one of my go-to's. I definitely suggest picking one up to try no matter your skill level.

This is the straightest-flying disc I have thrown, but it's not just good for long tunnels - it will hold any angle you put it on without flexing out, making it an incredible approach disc for any situation. It feels great in the hands, like a slightly bigger putter, and will stick in the chains for those long throw-ins as well. This disc has really changed my game for the better, and I find myself reaching for it often in the woods.

This was the disc that taught me how to forehand accurately. Would constantly use this disc throughout the course because the course I play is very forehand friendly. Straight. As. An. Arrow. It's really insane how straight this disc will fly. But even better, it will hold the line of a slight hyzer or even a slight anhyzer. There are a few tight tunnel holes on my local course, and this disc is all I ever consider throwing. Some other discs will fly straight at the right power level- not the Mako3. You can throw it hard or soft, and as long as your release is right, it's going to do it's job perfectly.

The only thing it can't do is flex shots or shot shaping, but for just being one disc, it covers all the other shots in the midrange part of my bag. One of my absolute favorite discs.

Hands down the best disc ever made. I can throw it 300' or 30' and it has the same flight path. Holds all lines but will not hyzerflip. If thrown hard on a hyzer it will fade. Yet thrown flat it stays flat. Anny stays anny. a remarkable disc in every way. Best single disc challenge disc ever made. If you don't like it, chances are your form is way off.

I use this for flip to dead straight with zero fade on soft approaches, shots that slowly drift to the right(rhbh), or even for jump putting from distance. This discs will drift slightly, but it doesn't really turn, unless thrown too hard, so it is a finesse disc. I also carry a Kastoplast Gote as well and they do the same thing. The Gote may end up replacing the Mako3, because I think Kastoplast plastic is so much nicer, but you cannot go wrong with a Mako3. The one thing that I prefer about the Mako3 is that it is flatter than the Gote, but I prefer the extra stability from the Gote.

I picked up the Mako 3 on a whim. I was shopping at a local sporting goods store and I found a max weight white with red, white, and blue stamped star Mako 3. It felt great in my hand and thought I would give it a shot for fun. The flight of this disc is crazy compared to everything else I have ever thrown. I have been playing disc golf for about 14 years now and I have never thrown a disc that has no inherent fade what so ever. Brand new this disc will not hyzer unless purposely thrown on that angle. Time and time again I would wait for the fade to kick in, but the disc stayed straight the entire time. While I still will bag other mid range discs, the Mako 3 has made my bag for lines that require no fade or for super straight shots. Side note, the all white disc I bought turned a pale pink during one round in the sun. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but thought it was unique for sure.

Flight: This disc flies dead straight when thrown flat with lower power and then finishes with a small amount of fade. At higher speeds this disc has a much more noticeable amount of turn and to get it to fly straight you will need to put some hyzer on it. Thrown on anhyzer this disc does not want to stay in the air and finds the ground really fast. This was definitely my go to midrange when I was just getting into disc golf but I no longer feel that I can trust this disc to fly how I want.

Comparisons: I found this disc to be similar to an Anubis, seeing as they are rated to fly the same. The flight is fairly similar to the Anubis but I found that the Mako3 has a bit more turn than the Anubis I threw.

Plastic: I have thrown the Mako3 in Champion and Star plastic. When I bagged this disc I used the Star plastic but if I were to bag one now it would be in Champion for the added stability. Overall a good disc and most people will find this disc a useful addition but this disc is certainly not for everyone.

It took me a little while to gel with this disc- I was a couple days away from meeting up with a friend and was planning on giving this to him! I am so glad I didn't! There are so many uses for this disc. This was one of my first discs in star that I have gotten and it took me some time to get used to the feel of the disc. I don't know how else to describe it, but this disc feels kind of bulky in my hand, and inititially it turned me off. It is well worth it to stick with it though! It will do whatever you want it to do and when I get a really good throw on it, this thing flies out there not so far behind my fairway drivers. A great disc for getting out of the woods and off the tee!

Having recently started throwing this disc I can't say enough good things about it. Not only can you get some good distance if you want to drive from the tee, but it is also my go-to when scrambling through the woods. It holds any line I need it to from longish accuracy shots down to any approaches that I don't trust my putter for. I would recommend this disc to anyone, but I have found particular use for it when I need something straight that I can also direct in any direction. The only thing I don't use this disc for is when I need to throw an "s" line or want something with a bit more turn to the left (this is only an issue because I prefer not to flick). For those shots, I stock a claymore in the bag.

Quite possibly the greatest disc ever made. Recommended by remedial players and seasoned veterans of the sport to me over and over. I finally bit down and picked one up. I used it as a one disc challenge and was surprised at the consistency of flight. I have decent enough form to shape shots as needed. This thing blew me away. I could putt, turbo putt, lay up, light approach, hyzer, anhyzer, and full on drive! Released on a hyzer with heat and it held it? No way. It means it when it says neutral flight. It means it in a special way.

Great disc for any golfer of any level in any capacity. Does not replace a complete set (almost!). I was a skeptic before. Put this disc in your bag! You WILL be impressed.

A couple years ago I decided to buy a Mako3 because my brother had one and he threw it well and very often. Well, after a couple weeks with it, I had tried the Discraft Buzzz and made the switch to that. Fast forward to now, and I still bag a Buzzz, but the Mako3 has made a reappearance in my bag and I couldn't be happier. While I don't throw it as often as the Buzzz, I am rarely dissapointed with the outcome that the Mako3 has. Anyone hole that requires a shot to move slightly right, is a hole where I grab the Mako3 if it's under 330'. I can rip this on a hyzer and it'll stand up and then glide right for days. I have parked numerous holes within the past 2 months that I wouldn't have if I threw a different disc.

For a beginner, this disc will probably fly very straight and become a great disc to learn different angles. It will also help someone with poor form see their mistakes and develop better form.

The Mako3 has become my favourite midrange and I use it more than any other disc in my bag. It flies like a beat-in roc. For me, I don't like the feel of the roc and I don't have the time/patience to beat them into perfection. This is the most comfortable rim I've thrown, works well for fh and bh.

I have this disc in Star and Champion plastic. The Star has more turn and the Champion has more fade. Being a newer disc, the blend of Star is gummier and flexible, which I prefer though I know the old stiff star is sought after. I prefer this disc in Star plastic because I like having something I can hyzer-flip out of the box and know it won't fade or have a slight gradual turn. If you give the Champ Mako3 some height it will have a bit of fade. The Star version holds anny lines much better. Both are still great discs.

Similar discs are the Innova Coyote and discmania MD. The Coyote has a similar flight and feel but not nearly the glide and carry as the Mako, both o.g. and 3 version. The MD is more domey but feels and flies similar otherwise. I prefer the board flat feel of the Mako3.

If I had to have one disc to play a round, the Star Mako3 is it. For beginners and advanced players alike, pair it with a Nova and you've got a great combo to iron out form.

This disc and the dart were the two discs that taught me the most on how to control angles and power with low-speed discs like midranges and putters. This disc is a great addition to anyone's bag and is truly a point and shoot midrange. If you can throw it flat and hard it with ride whatever line you want the whole way to the basket. I love this disc!  It feels nice in my hands, enough to even use it as a putter every once in a while.  However, where this disc shines for me is the straight lines it can produce.  I do believe there is a touch of fade at the end, but that only adds to the dependability of this disc.  Learn to throw straight shots with this disc.  It goes where you throw it, a simple point-and-shoot disc in my opinion.  That's exactly why it earns my vote and 5 stars!

I used to love using my Mako3! In the last month, it went from being a perfectly straight arrow midrange, into a disc that you will have a very tough time controlling. It will still hold hyzer and anhyzer lines perfectly, but trying to keep in on a straight flat line now almost feels impossible and has a very sharp fade.

For a long time I felt like something was missing from my bag, and it was the Mako3. I use both a Champion and Star Mako3's in my bag, and I was immediately hooked from the moment I threw them. The Champion plastic is a little more stable, but both discs hold a line like no other mid-range I've tried. I find that it's the perfect disc for straight-line approaches ranging anywhere from 100-200 feet away. Aim straight for the basket and watch in amazement as it soars to success.

I bought the Star Mako3 early in my disc golf days and quickly put it out of the bag because it was so finicky. As my skills have progressed, I've gotten it back out to give it another go and I'm impressed with it's straightness. If you throw it like a putter, it will fly very straight and go further than a putter will. I may update this review as my skills progress as I'd imagine the better I get the more useful this disc will become. When I first tried it out, I had issues turning it over but I attribute that to poor form more than the disc's understability.

Excellent disc that flies incredibly straight. It follows any line you put it on which is very helpful in learning about your throws.

Fantastic shot for really understanding how you're throwing your discs.  It will go exactly where you want it to go and hold the line you put on it.  Love the disc.

This disc is the essence of pure lines. It can be thrown perfectly straight or hold a line straight to the ground. It is reminiscent of a Nova turned midrange. Why I really like this is because the disc can take power and hold straight to slightly anhyzer. This makes the disc perfect for the woods and narrow lines.

the glide on the disc allows you to throw with less power and still expect a lot of distance. The disc is also really great as a utility disc. The disc can hold a hyzer just as well an anhyzer or a straight line.

This is defines straight without a hint of flippiness that other straight fliers exhibit at higher speeds.  Great disc for just starting out in disc golf.   Pick up a GStar and progress through Star and Champ as your arm speed improves.   A Mako3 is always in my bag for narrowest of tunnels, hero runs at the chains from way too far out, amazingly straight tomahawks and 300+ ft turnover drives off the tee.  I keep trying to get all large diameter mids out of my bag, but this is the one I just can't live without.

Very straight. Thats about it. It goes where you throw it. Put a bunch of power on it and it will turn right a bit. Shows flaws in your form. Mine is 180g in Star and it just goes straight. I don't throw it all that often but its amazing when you need it.

Not sure how much more I can add to the conversation about this disc.  It is straight.  I have it in star plastic and I love it for my straight mid shots.  It powers down well too.  But if you have any wrist roll: it's gonna show, if you have any rounding: it's gonna show up.  So it really makes you have good form to throw it well.  This disc holds any line you put it on.

This is the disc that I recommend every beginning player start with. It flies with whatever angle you put on it. This gave me a tremendous amount of feedback on my throws as I just got into disc golf. With no turn or fade, you know exactly how your release angle effected the flight. I bought one for my wife, who is deadly accurate with hers and helped her beat me for the first time by majorly upping her mid/short game.Keep in mind, with no fade (which I think is 100% accurate) it won't come back if you accidentally put some anhyzer angle on it. I seriously can't recommend this disc enough.

Star in the 170s. People seem to love this disc, but I just never meshed with it. The rim felt awkward in my hand for whatever reason and I just couldn't throw consistently with it. I've had friends get some great lines with ones, so I can see why people like it so much, but I just never had confidence in this disc. I definitely prefer a warship, colt, or pure for my straight shooting discs to this one.

I'm an older player that doesn't have the distance I used to. Accordingly, over the past couple of years I have developed a strong love for mid-range discs that are superbly reliable and that is what this disc is. It goes where you put it on any line at a pretty reasonable distance for a mid-range every single time. For me personally this is my go to disc for 100 ft. or so slow long turning anheyzers, it floats beautifully on those slow rolls and just absolutely sits down (especially in the heavier Star plastic). Good for beginners to help understand different angles and lines on approach and useful for more experienced players who will dial this thing into tight spots...great disc.

My Star Mako3 has become a very reliable midrange workhorse and will always have a place in my bag. Whatever line you put the Mako3 on, it will hold it.

While it may not have the glide or the distance of a Roc or a Buzzz, the Mako excels at precision upshots and working through tough, technical greens.

No matter your skill level, any bag can benefit from having a Mako3, if only for the "just in case" scenarios.

When thrown properly this disc is very neutral in flight.  Throw it hard it and it will fade softly at the end of the flight.  Also, it seems to hold the line you put it on.  This was one of the first midrange discs I owned and as a beginner it was much more controllable for me than a driver was (two Champion Mako3's).  I now own a Star Mako3 180g and it's one of the best midranges I've owned due to it's neutral flight.  For me, I still have a personal preference over the Z Buzzz and the Z Buzzz SS which I attribute to the Buzzz' having flat tops with a stiffer flight plate.

I highly recommend this disc if you want a disc with a very neutral flight which can be manipulated and thrown on different lines.  The only disc I've thrown which may be even more neutral is the Axiom Neutron Proxy putter.

I have had 3 different mako3's and I love each one of them. Anytime I need a perfectly straight shot, I grab the mako3. The star version I have is worn in and I can get a nice soft anhyser flight with a flat release, but it will hold any line you put it on. Absolutely my favorite disc and one I don't ever play without.

Star 180g. Only good for flex or hyzer approaches.  Driving with it is poor for straight shots.  You either hit or miss. Great for hyzer shots but then there are tons of other discs for that.

My friend Sam and I have just recently started into the wonderful world of disc golf and we were hooked from day one. For a while I have been saying that I want to get a MAKO3, well both of us purchased one and we have been in love with it ever since. I would recommend this disc to any level of player. It flies straight as an arrow, it releases well and goes right where you want it to.This is and my beloved TEEBIRD are the most used discs in my bag. Buy one today and you won't regret it.

If I could only play with one disc for the rest of my life it would be the Mako3! I throw it in max weight star plastic and love it.  It flies straight as an arrow, has good glide, with little to no fade, feels great in my hand, and is super consistent. It also holds any line I put it on. It's not perfect into the wind, but the heavier weight helps that problem.  Do yourself a favor and get this disc!

I got a 175g Mako3 is Star plastic, and at first I had a lot of trouble with it.  It always faded to the left.  As my technique improved, things got a little better, and I could throw it okay forehand, but the Mako3 was about to be out of my bag.  Then I took it to the course for a comparison test with the Atlas.  I found that by throwing firmly and getting a full, good follow-through, the Mako3 (finally) started flying straight for me.  In fact, it did very well both off the tee and on long (120-feet-plus) approach shots to the basket.  Hyzer and anhyzer shots held their lines nicely.  Then a Play-It-Again-Sports store in my area had a going-out-of-business sale, and a GStar Mako3 was one of the few discs left.  I offered a lowball price and it was accepted, getting me a GStar disc at less-than-DX price in a deal that I likely won't luck into again.

(Edited 5/20/15)  The Mako3 now flies very straight for me, but as my discs get broken in (and/or my technique and application of throwing power increases), I am noticing they tend to turn more (I'm RHBH thrower) and I've occasionally gotten an S-curve out of them.

One note of caution:  soft throws do get some fade at the end.  I got the straightest shots when I threw the Mako3 firmly, and definitely with that *snap* on the end of my throw.  Beginners should be aware of this if the Mako3 is one of their first discs.  But, as advertised, the Mako3 could be a good choice for a one-disc round, and I recommend it for technical/wooded courses where tight throws are needed.

Side note:  As of this writing, the Innova site lists the Mako3 only in GStar and Champion plastics.  Infinite Discs has Star plastic Mako3s for sale (again, as of this writing), and I have one, of course. So Star plastic is out there, but Innova may be phasing out making the Mako3 in Star plastic and only sell the GStar and Champion.  I definitely recommend the GStar Mako3.

This is an incredible stright floater. Even finishes with a super mild hyzer. Thrown with a small Anny it will float stright down. This disc will hold a soft anny or hyzer line depending on which you throw it with. It can not handle big An/Hy (it dives) but floats to a finish with either nicely and forgivingly. My favorite disc in my bag for anything 200 or below. A monster in the tunnel shot. Handles a soft sidearm flick decently.
