This disc was my first driver and is my most reliable driver. The plastic is very easy to break in, giving beginners their perfect driver in no time at all. This disc also takes very little power to get it to do what it is supposed to do, adding onto the beginner friendliness. Sadly I threw my Valkyrie into a tree causing it to deform and turn into a roller :( But I do plan on getting a new one soon because it is just that good!

Starting out with the innova starter pack and learning to lean upon leopards off the tee, this disc is the PERFECT transition into a further flying backhand driver. As a forehand dominant player I would highly recommend not throwing a valkyrie forehand, as it is crazy unpredictable given its shape. I find it to be molded perfectly for a generic backhand grip.

This disc allows you to learn so much about the full flights of the disc and the effects of a disc getting beat in with DX plastic after heavy reliance. It's a great initiation disc for beginners that I believe will stay in my bag for a while given its viability in many situations, cost $, and comfort. Helps to amend some hyzer release issues early on.

A great disc for those who throw about 250. Once you throw a little faster it becomes a reliable understable disc. If you plan on using this disc for more than a few rounds don't get in DX plastic, beats in way too fast.

I have several Valkyrie is dx, champion and star plastic. The disc is one of the best, and with it I have come close to a few aces. They are a step up from the leopard and have a pretty consistent flight. The dx plastic gets beat up a lot, but I prefer it to the other plastics.

I purchased this disc on a recommendation from a friend. Disc is very beginner friendly. Has made the game more enjoyable by being able to keep a drive in play. The disc is very easy to throw and recommend it for any beginner to put in their bag.

Best beginner disc by far PERIOD. Make sure you get this baby in DX plastic and upper 160g-175g and you'll be throwing dimes with backhand at a beginner level. Eventually you will beat it in and start flipping it over for some maximum distance. This is easily the best disc for beginners because of the distance and accuracy you can get off drives.

The DX Valkyrie is currently my go-to driver. As a beginner I have great control with it and drive it further than anything else. The turn and fade work together spectacularly, and the feel in the hands is immaculate. Highly recommend. Once my DX wears out, I will likely invest in a Star.

I had lost my star Valk and decided to pick up a new one in DX plastic, but unfortunately it flies absolutely nothing like a Valkyrie is supposed to fly. I borrowed a buddies to make sure I wasn't going crazy and his flew as expected. This is the only time I've thrown it in DX and it flies incredibly understable to the point where I'm throwing it on hyzer and watching it flip over into a roller at times. I wish I had the arm to do that, but the likely explanation is that DX valks are just super understable or there were major inconsistencies with this batch. My recent experience with this manufacturer suggests it's the latter.

Assuming your valk flies as expected, it's an excellent disc to bag for players of all skill levels. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for someone brand-spanking new to the game, but once you grasp the concept of throwing a disc this is a great first distance disc.

My brother loves his Valkyrie, so I decided to buy one to see what he was talking about. I really dislike it. It's hard to describe why I don't like it, but it just feels wrong in my hand. It feels like I can't get a good grip on it. I'd take other comparable Innova fairway drivers over it. Hell, my beat in DX firebird that turns over more than it should is preferable to it.

When I first started playing, I bought the Innova starter set from a local store. I wasn't really impressed with the 150gr DX Leopard that came with the box. I decided to get a 175gr DX Valk and was way more happy with it. I also got another DX Valk in 164gr to see the difference in flight and was able to throw the lighter one further. I still use both today depending on how much of a fade I want on my shot. The Valk is my go to driver on the course. It's only con is its tendency to turn over in a headwind.

175g DX Valkyrie: Flies exactly as advertised for me and has held up well so far. Extremely versatile disc - If thrown flat it will display the beautiful "S" curve flight, thrown with some anhyzer it will turn over and fight out the last 20% or so, and thrown with some hyzer it will flip up to flat and finish true. Doesn't really hold up in a strong headwind but I'm willing to forgive it since it does everything else so flawlessly. And IMO the DX stamp is pretty slick

There is a good reason why the Valkyrie has been around for a long time, because it works.  It is slightly understable and it very easy to throw.  This disc once held the world record, but you don't have to have a big arm to get big distance.  A flat release will get a very controlled S-shot that just seems to go and go.  This is also a very good for downhill and downwind shots.  This is a good option for beginners looking to get into a distance driver, as well as, more advanced players looking for controlled distance.

A decent "first driver" for beginners.  This disc has a nice edge profile for those who are starting and don't yet have the arm speed for the double-digit speed discs.  I noticed very little turn on the DX Valkyrie, would put it closer to a "0".  As expected, the DX plastic beats in quickly had a decent gouge in mine after the first tree hit.

Before I go in any details about this disc, I must talk about how different plastics for Innova will result in different stability's for the same disc and type of disc. For those who aren't aware of this you must take into account that it is a great deal of importance to know your plastic so that way when you buy, for example a Valkyrie champion versus a Valkyrie DX you can understand that a champion plastic Valkyrie will be a lot more over stable towards it's overall stability then say, a DX Valkyrie plastic disc. This also comes into account with all brands and all different plastics for any disc making company. I have a Valkyrie that is 170 g that is in DX plastic. The Valkyrie that I have flies as if the it had a -4 turn, although a champion plastic Valkyrie will act more so towards his numbers if not even a bit more over stable then it states on the ratings, this is definitely one of the best drivers overall for just a variety of different shots that you definitely need a couple different styles in various plastics to really learn to use and master. I like my Valkyrie in a DX because I know that if I use my full arm speed it'll just hook hard right which is very advanative towards a RHBH throw that I want to hook real hard right. I also know that because of this and specifically mainly my DX plastic, I can throw it in a really tough foot areas to get that upshot. Especially around a tight right hand corner. I also know that if I throw it to the left at a high straight line it'll her card right and then fade to the left a little bit creating kind of a backwards "S with a wide bottom. The Valkrie overall is very nice controlling disc depending on the plastic used which keep in mind, definitely varies the way this driver can be thrown and used depending on the player and the course itself but overall, I think if one were to really try all plastics offered for this particular disc, they would like at least one of the 7 plastics they offer.

I give the DX Valk a 3 star primarily because I have never had success throwing it and getting consistent results. I feel that it does not handle fast forehand without flaming out. My Valk is incredibly overstable and has become more so with the beatings it has taken. I do find that when I down power below what I would throw a 9 speed disc it hooks up much better and the turn/fade offset works out as expected. For me, this is a very finicky disc. I find that the flight numbers are incredibly arbitrary because of the inconsistency.

I understand that this is one the most highly rated beginner drivers ever produced which is why I picked it up (168g). I began with the DX to get a feel for the nature of the disc before moving up in plastics as I do with nearly all of my discs. The performance of the DX makes me hesitant to spend more and upgrade. However, I did gift a Pro to my Father-in-Law so when I see him again I will give that one a shot. To date he says he likes the Pro.

The DX Valkyrie was my first driver. As a beginner I still had a lot of fade even though this is a more understable disc, but as I got better this started to fly straighter and straighter. I still have the disc in my bag, but now that I have been playing for a while, I rarely find myself using it. It is a good disc for people to learn on though. I would say the mold isn't too uncomfortable to hold, The plastic for me is the worst part. I am just not really a fan of DX plastic. A few shots into a tree and this thing could have a decent bend or chunk missing from it. Overall I would say this is a decent disc for new players to learn on, but It doesn't really see a lot of use from me anymore. The only reason it's still in my bag is because I still have some room. As I get more discs I imagine this will end up on a shelf.

I am not joking with the flight numbers, this disc is so ridicuously understable. I can not even throw this disc on hyzer, because no matter what angle, speed,or height I throw it at,it always becomes an overturned roller. the main amount of times I throw this disc is just to see how understable it is. P.S. This disc is so understable because            it is 156 grams, beat in,and in dx plastic.

The Valkyrie was my first ever fairway driver I got after my first leopard from the Innova starter park. I just had come back from playing disc golf as a young kid and I picked up the valkyrie because someone recommended it as a good beginner disc. When I started throwing the valkyrie I was able to do so much with this disc. I play a lot of wooded courses and I had so much confidence in my shot no matter what shot I had to shape. I just knew I could throw the valkyrie and it would do what I needed. As a beginner this disc would flip up to flat for me on a slight hyzer angle, it would go right if I threw it flat, and it could hyzer when put on a steep hyzer. I was able to shape literally whatever shot I needed with just one disc and being a beginner I had a non existent forehand so it made up for that missing shot. I got a good few weeks of playing with my valkyrie but I was slowly starting to notice as it beat in and my form and armspeed were getting better the disc was not being as reliable. I ended up throwing it over a fence because the disc would flip up on a massive hzyer angle and just burn to the right if there was any sort of wind in my face. So the valkyrie is such a great disc for beginners, you can learn how to throw on every angle and it will give you a very reliable feel. I think the DX plastic is really good for beginners because it is cheap but if you beat up your valkyrei too much I believe this disc just dumps way too much right. If you are a new player with a slower arm that cannot throw super fast or stable discs get yourself a valkyrie and you will not be let down. If you have played for a while and can throw stable drivers decently far the valkyrie might be a good anhyzer disc or a roller but it might be too flippy for you.

This disc has been excellent. Unfortunately, when put up against a Beast for the distance driver slot in my bag, the Beast barely got the nod. Still, I keep a Valkyrie around and whenever I have someone new playing with me I always hand it to them, as they seem to have a very easy time throwing it with good results. Perhaps in another life the Valkyrie would have been my main driver, but as of now it's not. Still, I would recommend everyone try a Valkyrie at least once. It has an illustrious past for a reason, and proved itself time and time again to many generations of disc golfers.

I picked up a fresh DX Valkyrie after briefly losing my Champion Valkyrie.  It flew very much in line with the flight numbers of 9 / 4 / -2 / 2.  Its turn was very controlled and gradual, and the fade was reliable.  Unfortunately it didn't stay like that for very long.  Base plastic is not a good material for distance drivers, since when the disc inevitably does hit a tree, it hits way harder than a putter or midrange, and DX is just not up to that challenge.

My Valkrie has gotten a little bit more understable as its gotten beat up, but the biggest thing that's happened is that the disc's turn is no longer gradual and controllable.  Its flipping now tends to be all or nothing.  Sometimes, if I release it with too much hyzer, it gets hardly any flip at all, but if it does flip, it just rides to the right for the rest of the flight and never really comes back.

I think a Valkyrie can be a great max distance driver for new players into intermediate, but I'd recommend picking one up in a more durable plastic than DX when you do.

For a slower arm speed max drive around 300ft, Valkyrie keeps a straight flight and a little bit turn before it fades out. Really good for long distance shot for a nice straight or some turn.

This was the first disc I bought and I have found that the flight pattern has been almost spot on with what is shown above. With the DX plastic however, it is very prone to being chipped and bent. I've had this for a little over a year now and it has taken a bit of a beating causing it to flip over more and make the flight a tiny bit more unpredictable but still holds relatively well. The disc is great for open fields but tends to suffer in tunnel shots due to its tendency to chip, but overall, it has served me well.

A very very flippy disc, but if you get enough power on it and put a steep hyzer angle on it, this disc will fly very very far with a beautiful S-turn. Very bad in head wind and very good in tail wind. Great disc for a beginner learning how to throw far.

Admittedly I've only thrown the cheap DX plastic versions of this disc, but it is the most inconsistent disc I've ever thrown.  I suppose it's good for rolling drives.  Right out of the box or after hitting hundreds of trees, it doesn't matter, this disc will never do what I ask it to.  Honestly it flies more like a 6/4/-3/0 than a 9/4/-2/2.  It's okay for beginners who don't have powerful throws, but it will never have a place in my bag.

This is one of those discs that goes in and out of my bag. What keeps it coming back is how great the potential is for me on long holes with not much wind. Once the wind starts blowing, I have a difficult time controlling the flight and can loose it to the left if I am not careful. But when the conditions are just right, this disc is fantastic when you need something to finish straight ahead!

I really like the DX Valkyrie. I have thrown the champ and star as well, but for me the DX variety has the best distance potential, while giving me the most flexibility in types of shots. The star and champ varieties start out stable, and you can work them into the do it all discs, but the DX just flies for days right from the start. This is a great starting point for newer players getting into distance drivers, and for experienced players alike. Just a great disc.

I love this disc. For the first 3 years of me playing disc golf, literally every drive I said "well Valkyrie do your thing" and just let it fly. It holds a line perfectly. It was what got me throwing good distance (at least for a beginner) because trusted it would stay straight as long as I threw it straight. Now that I have played longer and gotten stronger, I can't really drive with it much because I throw way too hard for it and can't keep it from turning over, but still keep it in my bag for fairway shots that I don't want to throw too hard. Also, it has sentimental value to me, as it was my favorite and by far the best disc for a long time. If you are a beginner looking for a disc that you can get good distance out of, BUY THIS DISC! It is a game changer.

I use this disc as my distance driver (DD), currently, more so than my actual DD (Wraith) as I find I can control the Valkyrie much more and it holds a straighter line for me as well. I assume it is due to the Speed rating in comparison, but the usual result of my Valk flying from my hand is a straight shot where I aim it with a slight right turn, fading back towards the initial line, sliding right into where I want it. I also assume that due to the 175g weight of my Valk handles a headwind fairly well giving me over 200', and pushing 275'+ with a tailwind. Also, the more I have played with this disc the better is reacts to both Turn and Fade. Easy for me to flip up and glide right where I aim and turn just enough to fade right in front of the goal on many par 3 holes resulting in my first birdie, and several afterwards. Great disc that was not too hard for me to throw, but I am a slightly bigger guy too than the average player. My friend, who is a bit smaller, had issue getting the disc to react as well as I have, and our only real difference is size since we have been playing the same time and he has similar luck with his Truth, which I cannot throw.

DX valk was my first disc. It is a great, neutral driver that's perfect for newer players who are increasing their arm speed past fairway drivers. I threw this disc until it beat in so much it would flip straight into the ground and any shot not thrown on a huge hyzer. Awesome disc and definitely a beat up wall hanger now.

The DX Valkyrie was my first distance driver and i still make sure i always have one in the bag. This disc is the best way for beginners to learn proper mechanics of the game and to achieve max distance. My first Valkyrie was in DX at 170g which was a little heavy from the start by as i grew into the disc it became my go to distance disc. The Valkyrie is all about versatility and shot shaping, once you develop the form and arm to throw it this disc is at your mercy, it will go wherever you want and it. This disc is great for Hyzer flips that flip up, turn right and cary, then provides a consistent fade at the end of the flight. Great for long tunnel shots and shaping lines around obstacles. I recommend getting this disc in a cahmpion plastic becasue DX just breaks in too soon, you will want this disc to last because you will fall in love, DX is going to become understable as your game progresses and you will be forced to buy another, just go straight for the champion. Also don't buy a super lightwight disc or you will be purchasing another soon. This disc is great for back and forehand drives and will serve you well for a long time.

This was my 1st driver ever that I got used from a co-worker. Great for beginners who do not have the arm speed to throw higher speed discs. This beaten in Valkyrie DX does not turn as much as my new Valkrie Champion but it flies just as far. The DX plastic itself is not the best plastic, it can be damaged pretty easily when hitting trees. I would suggest the Champion plastic since it can take a beating from trees and still look brand new (from my own person experience).

Being a beginner, this is one of the few discs I can regularly throw well.  I really like the flight path of the valk, and how straight it generally ends up.  I can average around 200' with her right now, with my prettiest throws reaching out to 250-275'.  This is basically my go to driver right now, as I cannot consistently make higher speed/power drivers work correctly yet.  I may try to pick one up in gstar plastic to have that extra grip and comfy feel.  That, and I have already abused my valk quite a bit through the learning curve.  I imagine I'll have one of these in my bag for quite some time!

The Valkyrie was one of the first ever drivers. I am Right Hand Back Hand. If I throw the disc on a hyzer it will flip up fly straight and fade again. I can throw this disc pretty far for me as well. I can also do a big S shots with this disc. I have never experimented with forehands with this disc. Also straight shot are very achievable with this disc. I had purchased its a dx disc so it got some chunks taken out over the years. The dx plastic may not be quite durable but I love how it feels in the hands, it's very grippy. This disc doesn't have that wide of a rim so someone with smaller hands could definitely get a good grip on it. This disc flies like a dragon but goes farther and does not float in water. Innova should definitely make more models float. I think this is a good driver for a beginner because it isn't too fast of a disc and is still very controllable. Even for me where I play at 9000 feet it will still flip up and glide. So do not get fooled by the 4 glide it is definitely 5 to 6 in my opinion. For the more advanced player this is a good disc as well. I feel this is a must have in every disc golfers from beginner to intermediate. Some things I do not like about this disc is that it has gotten beat up a little too much and I think I am going to get another but a better plastic like G Star so the grip is still good but the plastic is much more durable.

This disc starts out great and gets better over time. After it gets beating up a little it will start to turn wich is great when you need to go from left to right and throw right handed. must have disc

I have had no use out of this disc thus far, but i will continue to carry if for when conditions just may be right.  I tend to throw High speed drivers with success, so this low speed one does not do my style justice.

The newer and lower power throwers in my group LOVE this disc in a light weight. I haven't had a chance to use it because my girlfriend and my son have both taken ownership! She's throwing a nice s-curve with it.

The Valkyrie is my absolute favorite Driver, I have only been playing 6 weeks, but have over 40 rounds in and I have a DX, a star and star-lite plastic. I throw backhand lefty and man its awesome to watch fly.

I lost mine (DX), it made me sad. I'll grab another soon. When I first started throwing it I couldn't get it to turn. Now I can't get it to fade reliably (still working on control) but I know when I get to that sweet spot this will be very useful.

Good disc for beginners and new players to the sport. I haven't thrown a VALK in a while since I've increased my disc speeds; however, it was a great disc for my fiancé to begin with when I got her into the sport!

This disc never gel'ed with me. I don't know what the problem was. I prefer the Leopard over the Valkyrie. The distance just wasn't there. I am a LHBH for most throws.

Great driver than can be tailored for what you want by choosing different plastics and different weights. DX will quickly become a turnover driver after a few rounds. A light, worn in DX makes for a great roller without even needing a good anhyzer release. Champion Valks fly pretty stable for me (even at lighter weights). Star and Pro work their way into S-curve beauties after a short time. Get one in each plastic and you'll soon have all the drivers you'll need for a course.
