The Star Valkyrie is awesome. I got this shortly after starting my disc golf life. I'm 4-5 months in now, and I still throw it. It's a bit beat in, so I'm able to get some hyzer flip s curve throws with it. For a complete beginner, it felt fairly overstable but someone who's been playing for a bit will get some turn out of the box. As far as glide goes, I'll give it a 5 just because I've gotten some of my furthest throw with this disc.. If you haven't tried one, just get it. Easy 9 speed distance hyzer flip machine

I love the Star Valkyrie. This is a great straight flying driver for an intermediate player with a medium arm speed. I can throw 350 with some accuracy and for me this disc has some turn and a similar amount of fade. I would recommend this disc to anyone who already loves the 9 speed category.

One of the first discs I bought when I started playing disc golf and still in the bag today. As a beginner works well as a moderately overstable driver once you gain a little arm speed. As an intermediate player, great for open s-flight drives that go far. Highly recommend!

Valkyrie's are excellent for players who are stepping up into the driver game. For newer players it has enough flip to hold fairly straight and as power increases it is excellent for s-curve shots. My younger brother throws this as his primary forehand driver and it gets a nice turn and reliable fade while pushing around 300 feet.

Behaves as an overstable fairway driver

I am willing to accept that I was unlucky and got a bad run, but I purchased a Star Valkyrie and it behaves nothing like the flight numbers. It is more overstable than my Star Wraith and about the same as my Champ TeeBird, though less controllable. I have never seen it turn at all, even with 300 feet of power.

Thus the disc is out of the bag and I currently use a Neo Essence (5 stars) for this slot.

I don't want to give the disc a bad review by any means. It's a great mold, easy to grip, and gets great distance.  I have it in the star plastic but it just acts overstable. it may flight straight and just turns left like a high-speed overstable disk. i  throw 225 to 270ish feet currently as a newer player who learned only this year. that may have something to do with it, or may need to break in the disc more.

I tried throwing it on an anhyzer thinking that if its supposed to be understable it will like to turn right early on and the disc won't, it turns back left immediately. if i do the same throw with a leapard3, Jade, or sidewinder it will sore right easily, slows down and then turns back to the left just as intended.

This is just my experience with the disc. I wouldn't give it a bad rating by any means, oddly it just makes me want to figure out what i may be doing wrong or if i need to really break it in more.

I added a Star Valkyrie in an attempt to consolidate some Molds.  I have a DX that is such and easy gliding turner, and I'm hoping for something like a Longer Tbird/Exodus.  So Far so Good. The Valkyries are good Gliders

Halo Valkyrie - is DEFINITELY more stable than star plastic

I love this fairway driver it is a straight shooter out of the box and will hold flat or a slight turn (RHBH) for the majority of the flight and then slightly fade back left, and because it is a 6 speed, weaker arms (like mine), can get all behind this and get it to go 300' (I get pumped about this).

I think for any beginner pick this disc up and throw it. You will be surprised at how far it will go for you, and will be a huge stepping stone as you improve your game.

My little brother who is newer to disc golf loves using his Valkyrie as his max-distance driver. It is fairly easy to get up to speed and can be worked on several different angles when thrown with correct power. If I were to recommend a first driver to someone with moderate experience, this would be the disc.

I have had this disc in a few different plastics. It is a tried and true disc mold, which I have found flies quite differently depending on the plastic.

My first was a DX Valkyrie. It had a lot of flip. That disc taught me to throw a hyzer flip up. It also taught me to respect headwinds when near water features.

My next was a F2 Star Valkyrie. It did not flip at all for a while. The reason was a combination of my slow arm speed and that Star plastic is more stable than DX. Over time, the disc broke in and I began to throw harder, and it now follows a smooth S curve as intended. I would say the numbers on my disc are probably closer to 9, 4, -1, 2. great disc.

This was one of the first discs that I bought over 12 years ago.   The Star plastic is simply wonderful.   After 12+ years, other than being dirty, the plastic is nearly the same as the day I bought it.   I'm an average player with average arm speed and this disc holds my personal record for the farthest throw.   When it gets up in the air and does the S turn it's just so pretty.    It flies true to the numbers but does take some time and practice to learn this disc.

The Innova Star Valkyrie is a versatile disc due to its distance and shot shaping abilities; however, it seems that the Valkyrie is overshadowed by other understable fairway drivers in the Innova lineup. Higher arm speeds will find the mold useful for long turnovers. Newer players may enjoy a lighter Valk as their main driver. The Sidewinder is remarkably similar to the Valkyrie in my experience, and the stabilities of individual discs are too variable to compare between molds. The Roadrunner will produce more turn than either and is a resultantly better choice for beginners and rollers. When I choose to bag an understable nine speed, I reach for a Star Sidewinder. The high speed turn of a Valkyrie seems a bit hurried compared to the slower, more predictable turn of the Sidewinder, despite the suggested disparity in stability. I really do like the Star Valkyrie, but it doesn't add any shots to my bag.

I use my valkyrie from 340-370, I throw it on a medium hyzer it flips up to a little annhyzer holds it nicely and then flexes out, i use it where I cant quite reach it with my teebirds but is too short for my destroyers, 9 speed rim so great for small hands, in light weights it is more understable but in heavy weights it is more neutral, 175-170g intermediate/advanced, 167-150g beginner/novice, overall great disc and highly recommend!

Great disc for me. It is quite stable and good for beginners. This is a staple in my bag and I use many. This disc has a consistent turn with a straight glide, then hyzering back. I trust this disc a lot for 300 foot shots as I know that I don't have to put too much effort to get it to work for me. I think this disc has helped me a lot in disc golf as it has made me learn not to have to throw too hard to get distance. The star plastic is great as it is nice and grippy. I have had a valkyrie for 1 year and it is quite good and not beat in. I recommend those, who want more easier distance to get this disc. It is great in my perspective and should be more in intermediate bags.

I probably should have chosen the Valkyrie as my first 9-speed driver, but I'm glad she found her way to me eventually. I found a Star Valkyrie while traveling, and it was love at first throw. This is the disc that almost made me believe in magic.

Perhaps this famous, noble mold needs no introduction, but it deserves one anyway. This is the skyward sword, the fearsome maiden, the soaring warrior you might have heard in legends told on your local course. This is the vessel that once carried the world distance record, This disc is a generation's clarion call to the course. She still leads thousands of charges to the basket across the world.

Her storied history is unsurprising given this disc's characteristics. The Valkyrie uncompromisingly consumes distance. Her 9 4 -2 2 rating is perhaps on the spot when new; I'm assuming my second-hand disc has been beat in to some extend because it has more of a gentle, forward fade that allows her to chip out a few more feet at the end of it's flight. However, my Valk is still not flippy - the turn is visible at 300+ feet of distance, but she doesn't fully turn over on a flat release unless there is a headwind. A touch of hyzer can turn this disc into a laser-straight tunnel hawk. Dialing the power back still yields beam-like travel on its line with a reliable, but not overpowering fade.

I can't speak to other plastics, but the glide might be a tick higher in Star plastic. This makes the Valkyrie a natural complement to the ESP Undertaker in my bag, and her understability afford the Valk some slightly easier distance. She will be a staple in my line up when the shot cannot fade far left, needs to hyzerflip  and go low and fast, or for gentle anhyzer turnovers up to 300 feet.

As a fairly new player with ~350' max distance, I'd say the Valkyrie is somewhat beginner friendly. I definitely think that getting experience with putters and.mids is the way to start, followed by something like a Lat 64 River to get control of lines and straight shots. As you head toward 300' of distance, the Valkyrie is absolutely my #1 recommendation for your first stepping stone toward distance drivers, and I wish I'd taken that advice myself. If you learn to throw it on a slight hyzer or flat line with the nose down and a line parallel to the ground, you might find yourself staring at its flight in awe. You will acquire a lot of skill and utility on the course out of this disc.

Fly far and true with the Valkyrie.

The Valkyrie goes far. Really far. I am starting to use it more frequently but all of my beginner friends have thrown their furthest drives with this disc. It flips easily with power but has a reliable flight path for both forehand and backhand. Pick up one if you want to improve your game, for sure.

If you are looking for a step-up from a leopard, the Valkyrie is your disc. With your arm getting faster, you will be able to throw this disc exactly like you did when first figuring out the Leopard. Super good wood-course disc, as well as a consistent straight-flying disc. I say somewhat beginner friendly because I'm not sure that beginners need to be throwing 9-speed drivers... However, when I was told that by people when I first started playing disc golf, I didn't listen and threw what I wanted anyway.  Now older and wiser, I recognize that it took me a couple years to get the full potential out of the Valkyrie.  I loved it then, and I love it even more now.

I currently bag three Valkyries (in order of stability): 175 g beat star Sandström, and a 171 beat glow champion, 172 g fresh, domey star.

My Sandström is suuuuuuper flippy, which I love.  I don't even need to bag a Sidewinder or Roadrunner because this does the job wonderfully, which I'm happy about because I try to be a mold minimalist.  Throw it flat and hard, it flights straight, turns over, and flattens out and fades forward for the last 10% of its flight.  Given any anny, it's gone.

My glow champion started off as my stable flier, but after throwing as my go-to driver for about a year, it will now tend to turn over when thrown flat.  I use it for head-wind turnover shots and flip to flat controlled drives.  It's also my go-to forehand driver, as I'm a little too wimpy to throw something more stable on flick without it immediately dumping out or compensating with flex.

To compensate, I recently got a new star Valkyrie, and it's SUPER domey.  My other two are relatively flat, but this one almost looks like a different disc, but I love it.  Flies really straight with a reliable fade, and it can handle some flex and still come back.

With these three amigos, I can handle almost any drive I need.  I still lean pretty heavily on my wraiths, but for anything in the woods over 300 ft, I'm usually reaching for a Valkyrie.  So versatile, and I don't know what I'd do without them.  But beware!  Different Valks have very different flight characteristics, so give it some time, and it'll find a place in your bag, especially if you want one mold to handle a lot of different jobs.

This was one of my very first discs. I picked one up at a local sporting goods store and threw it for several weeks. I found a use for this disc in just about every round. It worked wonders for me. I have since changed discs up and gave this to my younger brother in law and its one of his favorites. I would recommend this to almost any beginner as a starting driver or even to an intermediate or above player. It really is a great all around disc.

I found a Star Vakyrie with no response to the number on it recently. I've throwin it a few times over the past week, and I'm very surprised as how different it behaves compared with a champion Valk. The Champion Valk I used to throw (before I threw it in a pond and will hopefully get back soon) was much more understable than this Star version. Which is very interesting, as I have always understood champion plastic to be more stable than other plastics. So, why would the star version be more stable? I'm curious if maybe like the Destroyer line-up, that differnet runs have various amounts of stability.

Anyway, I digress. I do like this disc a lot, but I have to switch my brain from how I am used to throwing Valkyries. No longer will I use it for dogleg right tunnel shots and extreme hyzer flips. This thing acts more like my lucid X Escape than it does my champion Valkyrie.

I really like how much more flat-topped this version of the Valk is than the champion one I had. This allows me to use it for forehands as well. It's a great disc, and I'm looking forward to utilizing it more and more.

When I started playing disc golf a year ago, the DX Valkyrie was the first driver I had any success with.  It would fly straight with minimal turn and fade.  Obviously, the DX plastic didn't hold up well, and it quickly became a roller disc.  I went out and bought a Star Valkyrie and haven't looked back.  When my arm speed wasn't that good, I could still get it 300+, throwing S-shots and just letting the disc do the work for me.  As I became more aware of flight physics and angles, and as my arm speed rapidly increased, the Valkyrie became my bomber disc.  Now I can throw it on a big hyzer angle, get it to flip up to flat and work over to the right (RHBH) just a tad before eventually fading out.  If i need to throw 400+, this is what I'm reaching for.  I do NOT recommend this disc in a head-wind, as the turn becomes much harder to manage in the wind.  In a tail-wind, I still haven't thrown any other disc as far as I can throw the Valkyrie.

It's a great disc for a first driver, and a great disc for monster hyzerflips once your technique and form get to where they need to be.

Star Valkryie (175g) - This is my favorite driver at my current arm-speed. I think it glides a bit better than the 4 stated. It will flip to flat or flex if I put a fair amount of power on it and throw it with a small hyzer angle. If thrown with a lot of hyzer it will flip to flat or hold a gentle hyzer the whole way. I've only thrown it backhand though, so it might be different forehand. Definitely a great disc to use if you don't have crazy power or play on tight courses like I often do.

The Valkyrie has become the disc I lean on the most in my bag. I throw it anytime I need to keep a drive fairly straight and above 250-270 feet. I can throw it for power and reach 350 if I'm feeling good, but more consistently about 320. I don't feel like I need to put too much effort into it to get good distance. When I throw for power I throw it basically flat and it flips a little bit before finishing left a bit. For straight tunnel shots I put a little more hyzer on it to flip it flat. When I throw on anyhyzer it holds the angle and has a nice glidey finish to the right, unless I give it good height then it'll barely finish left. It's a really good disc to learn shaping shots. I find that it might be a bit slower than the speed advertised, it's borderline a fairway driver.

The Valkyrie is a new addition for me, and I wish I had found it sooner.  This is a great disc for someone who isn't a power thrower and is looking for a reliable and controllable disc to use as a regular drive off the tee.  Although I haven't thrown it in a headwind, I don't think I would trust it in anything other than a slight breeze head on.  The 2 fade is reliable, but I could see it easily leaking too far right (RHBH) with a headwind.

Innova's numbers seem spot on, but I might even say the glide is closer to 5.

I would highly recommend this for newer players, and for players like myself who don't have big arm power.  It has allowed me to easily and consistently gain distance while also putting the disc in it's intended flight pattern (controllable S shape).

The Valkyrie is a true control driver, as it combines great distance with a predictable flight path.  I played a round recently and (unintentionally) drove with my Star Valkyrie on every single hole over 300'--it's incredibly versatile.  With a little bit of power, it flips and turns a bit, but never drifts too far right or burns into the ground.  Perhaps best of all is how the fade is there, but continues penetrating forward instead of moving the disc laterally too much.  I will say I can't recommend a DX Valk unless you're not throwing very far--it's much, much more understable.  But, the premium plastics can be useful for a huge number of players.

My valkyrie is 165g in star plastic. I had it in the bag for about a year and it was a great disc for backhand shots that I needed to turn hard to the right without turning into a roller, and when I was pinned against something and couldn't get my lower body behind the throw. I stopped carrying it to make space in my bag, because between my beatup gstar thunderbird and a leopard3 the valkyrie didn't see much action. Still a fantastic disc and would recommend for new players trying to get some extra distance. It flips to flat and turns over very nicely and has a mild fade to move back to the center of the fairway for new players, and intermediate players can use it for long holding turnovers. Probably no use for this disc for advanced players.

I've had a Valkyrie in my bag since it's release in late 2000.  At the time, it was the longest disc in my bag in the standard DX plastic. Now that old DX has been replaced by a Star 175g.  Still love this disc.  Took a little adjustment going from the DX to the Star, but now that I've dialed it in, I can get great distance with this disc.  I'm 54 and my arm isn't what it used to be, but I can still get the Valkyrie a solid 320' on a calm day. Thrown at full power on a flat release, the disc turns over slightly before leveling out and finishing with a predictable fade at the end.  The Star plastic feels great, and the disc mold itself has a smooth release from my hand. At 1.9cm, the rim isn't too thick, especially for smaller hands like mine.  Excellent disc that I highly recommend for both the intermediate/advanced player and the beginner who is ready to move up the speed ladder.

I live at a higher elevation in Denver, CO and find that this disc becomes very useful in the winter.  My experience is that I lose distance in cooler temps and with less than perfect footing.  I typically throw an overstable Wraith in warmer temps but they tend not to turn over/flex and dump out hard in the winter.  In the summer I throw just hard enough that this disc will get flippy.  The same for lower elevations, although I love throwing this disc on tightly wooded courses where I need to keep shots low and accurate.  Pretty much everyone beside the mashers could find use for this disc.

This disc is ok out of the box for flipping, but once it’s beat in a little, it’s great for flipping. Throw it on a strong hyzer and watch in awe as it just flies and flies before a soft turn. It’ll hold a line like the best of them and doesn’t take a huge arm to throw. I can get one of these out to 300’ and I don’t have a strong arm.

I have 3 Valkyries now, 2 Star and 1 Pro.

    Star 171g, Star 160g, Pro 166g.

Star 171g - My first Valkyrie. It's sort of beat in now, as an average 275'-300' thrower, I can get some good distance and a little turn out of this one. One of my absolute favorites!

Star 160g. New. Very straight. Will beat nt for a good turnover disc. Hold lines well. LOTS of distance!

Pro 166g- Also new. FLIP CITY. Sooooo flippy!! It still has its uses though for those long turnover shots that need to finish right!

All in all, the Valkyrie is a superb disc. I've fallen in love with it. It's the only mold that I have 3 of. Star starts a little bit overstable out of the box, but keep with it! It WILL beat in for an awesome disc! If you have a slower arm speed or are new, or just need a good turnover driver, try out a Pro Valkyrie. Very flippy. AWESOME DISC

This is a pretty good disc. Out of the box the stars are actually pretty over stable. I don't bag one any more but this was a great "bomber" disc when I was getting in tune with my teebirds. When they start to beat in they start to get a good amount of flip and you can shot shape them pretty nice.

Highly recommended to people that don't have a ton of distance and arm speed as well as to older players looking for a longer disc. In fact my 55 year old father who has never really played said he might try to get into disc golf and I have a beautiful beat in star Valk waiting for him if he gets his leopards or teebirds to a good point. Good disc to try out as your first 9 speed.

I've had a Valk in my bag since I started my disc golf quest about 6 months ago. But, in those 6 months lies a ton of field work. Almost daily. The better I got at backhanding, the more I realized the reasoning behind why these discs show up in so many player's bags. Fast forward to now, I'm still FH dominant but I've gone from throwing 220' to 360'+ and climbing (BH), and this is the most predictable (and sneaky long) backhand disc I own. Keep in mind, its an accurate 9 speed disc, but Sandstorm still ripped one 820' berfore throwing that far was cool. It's got legs!

IT'S 2016 AND I HAVE A STAR VALKYRIE IN MY BAG!! I'm a professional disc golfer and I bag a Star Valkyrie. I compared this disc with a huge stack of discs, and was extremely surprised that it was competing with some fast and popular drivers among pros. I threw a Defender from Dynamic Discs, a lightweight MVP Nitro, the new MVP Catalyst, the Millenium Quasar, and of course some Star Destroyers the same day that I tested out the Star Valkyrie. When I threw it farther than all of these popular high speed drivers, I thought one thing: "Okay, so the Valkyrie goes far. Probably a fluke." The very next set of throws, I outthrew all of those drivers by 50+ feet with the Valkyrie and measured it out at just over 500 feet. Other than the 500+ foot throw I threw with the MVP Nitro that day, that was the first time I had thrown a 500+ foot throw in probably over a year, and it was with a 9 speed disc.

So, I decided to use part of my sponsorship allotment to get my hands on a Star Valkyrie for myself. Let me tell you, this disc went right into my bag. My Valkyrie is on the stiff side with a medium amount of dome, and it absolutely bombs. The stiffness to the plastic caused the rim to pop up the Parting Line Height a little bit, so it is more stable than the tester that I used. This disc is everything I was trying to do with the Discmania C-Line CD2. I loved how straight the CD2 was, but it was still just a bit too stable for me because I switch back and forth between a Discmania S-Line PD and a Glow Champion Thunderbird. These 2 discs both have the fade part down, so the CD2 found itself buried in the back of my bag because it wasn't as understable as I wanted it to be to be the compliment to the Thunderbird or PD.

After 1 week throwing the Valkyrie, I knew the disc as if it had been in my bag for months. The flight is predictably flippy, something that is extremely hard to find, even with all the new drivers. For example, I was in love with the limited release Champion Mystere, a disc with a similar flight to a Valkyrie and is brand new as of late 2015. The Mystere still has some unpredictability to it, even though it is supposedly a new and Innova-tive disc. The Valkyrie solves that problem because even thought it is understable or flippy, it is completely predictable. The Valkyrie in my bag helped me with some extremely clutch shots at the World Championships in Emporia, and the Ledgestone Insurance Open in Peoria. I parked the over the water shot, hole 11 at Jones East with it-- The one that Billy Engel aced on Sportscenter Top 10 in 2015. At Ledgestone I parked the 408 foot famous tunnel shot at Northwoods Park with it in practice, and then recreated the shot perfectly in tournament round only to miss the put. But I was able to put some lazerbeam shots in the fairway on the par-4 with a tight hazard fairway, and then birdied hole 15 with it, another demanding tunnel shot.

This disc is just so straight, and when you need maximum distance or a nice flight in a tailwind, the Star Valkyrie is the way to go. I have been talking up the Valkyrie for a few months now, and there is a reason for it. Most people come back with "Who even throws a Valkyrie anymore?" and it is clear to me that it is one of the most underrated discs at the moment. Nobody has actually tried it before, and all of the older golfers are telling the younger generation that "nobody throws Valkyries." So people like me have been bashing a disc we have never tried. Well, I tried a Valkyrie, and I never want to go back. Try one out and be amazed today!

The Valkyrie is a fantastic disc for players getting into the sport. It has a great flight path that is easy to achieve for budding players.

The star plastic is great as always, it gives a fantastic feel in the hand and stays consistent for a long time.

For newer forehand players I think this is a great disc. For new backhand players this is too much disc for you.  This has to be one of the most overrated discs out. There is nothing wrong with this disc, I think it's because MANY years ago it had the distance record but with all of the newer releases I just find many other discs that outperform this one.  For my backhand I find the rim height thicker than I'd prefer, pair that with a dome and I just never felt comfortable backhanding this disc.  The larger height on the rim feels great for forehands and I do like this for that shot.  For those #'s people out there, this flies more a bit stable than advertised.

Great little driver and the star plastic is great. This is the first star disc I had and I really like it. This was my only driver for while so I am pretty familiar with it. I pretty much goes where you want it to and I was able to learn how to flex pretty well on mine.

This disc was one of my first purchases, and was what taught me how to release at differnet angles.  Out of the box, this disc is a great hyzer-flip disc that can lace most tunnels.  I have found that this disc is one of the easiest to get max distance out of as a beginner.  Great starter disc, would recommend buying it in premium plastic because you'll want one of these for a long time.

I got this about 9 months ago about a month after I started to play.

It is my go to disc for straigh laser beam shots down any tight fairway. It is still my farthest flying disc. A somewhat low speed disc that will give any beginner the confidence they need when learning to throw far and straight. If you are on the edge about trying this disc, I highly recomend it to any disc golfer.

I first picked up a DX Valkyrie a few months ago as a fairly new player, ready for the next step up after having learned to throw my Leopard well. For this purpose, the Valkyrie couldn't have been more ideal--it helped me improve my form and driving distance a good deal.

Fast forward a few months: after throwing my DX Valk a LOT, and into a LOT of trees and stuff, the disc started turning over more and more easily. Some of this was due to me getting a little more power as a thrower, but I figured for the most part the disc had just become more understable as I beat it up. So I picked up a Star Valk from Infinite Discs, and I couldn't be happier with it. This disc flies much truer to the numbers than my abused DX, so I'm able to use it to work on form again.

When I say this disc is "very beginner friendly," I don't necessarily mean first-timers will be able to throw it perfectly (for that I'd recommend Leopard or Avenger SS). What I do mean is that it is the ideal distance driver to help beginners improve form, which will lead to improved distance and accuracy.

The Valkyrie was my first driver, and time and time again it has proven to be my favorite driver. The understable aspect of the disc is really what makes it beginner friendly, but its relatively mild speed allows for amazing low fluid drives as the player begins to become more experienced.

I actually own a few of these discs, two in Star and one in Champion. Just like with all Star plastic, my Star models beat in quickly and have become my most reliable undersable discs. My max weight Champion continues to fly it's intended flight plan time and time again. This disc is an essential addition to any player's bag!

I bought the Valkyrie due to liking the flight of the Tern. They have the same flight numbers according to Innova, and do fly very much the same. Using a RHFH throw, it will give me a nice gentle S curve without too much fade. I know at one point, a Valkyrie was the disc used when setting a world record distance for discs, but it hasn't been my longest disc so far. Compared to the Champion plastic, the Star plastic seems to have less glide, so it takes more power to throw it long. I might look to get one in Champion plastic in the future.

LOVE THIS DISC!!!!  The Valkyrie is simply outstanding!  First, let me state that I have long "noodle" arms (I'm 6'4" tall), and I don't throw with any exceptional amount of power.  The good news is that one does not need a lot of power to throw the Valkyrie far and throw it accurately.

I first got one in DX plastic, 175g, and used it on a heavily wooded, technical course with a couple of wide open holes.  The Valk responded well in every situation where I used it, and I was impressed with it's accuracy as well as distance on full power drives.  Sure I banged it around on some trees, but I'm looking to get it beaten in, and looking forward to how it's going to do once it's beaten in.

After that really good first impression,  I got a Factory Second EchoStar at 167g and Factory Second Star at 175g.  What the defects are, I have no idea; I can't see anything wrong with either one.  The EchoStar plastic seems to be just a tad more "slick" than the Star plastic, but both performed about the same in my comparison field tests...and they both performed very well!  They outdistanced several other models, including the Mamba, and were often equal to my Tern, and I didn't have to throw the Valks as hard as the Tern to get that distance.  The Valks' accuracy for their distance was extremely good.  The DX has a bit more fade than the other two, and is a bit less forgiving than the Star and EchoStar discs.

(Edited 5/20/15)  I have now acquired Valkyries in Pro (175g), Champion (167g), StarLite (150g) and GStar (166g) plastics, and another Star plastic at 165g. I use the Pro (and DX) in the woods and bang them off the trees, and the Star plastic in summer and GStar plastic in colder temperatures.  All do very well, and as they season in they'll have different and more unique uses.

Obviously, the Valkyrie definitely has a favored spot in my bag, and I've watched newbie friends get Valks and upgrade their games considerably.  I heartily recommend that anyone and everyone, especially newer and less-power-throwing players, try the Valkyrie.

Great disc. Perfect S shape disc to learn on for intermediate players. I prefer 175g Star Valkyrie. It is heavier and stiffer than the others so it can handle power without cutting and diving. I can max power this and it always finished stable....great disc. Love the comfort of the speed 9 rim, controllable, a great disc for all players. Just get one.

Love the disc. I love this disc in star and dx plastic for good control. I can't play it in champion plastic; it becomes overstable for me and I don't get the actual flight flight of Innova's numbers. I now have a beat up star valkyrie and I use it for roller shot or long anhyzers. When new, it will give you a good turnover shots.

This is my absolute favorite distance driver. It give me good distance, I can modify the lines for different holes, and get great accuracy from it nearly every shot. I can throw it backhand or forehand, and it's OK overhand too. It powers down well, and works great for almost anything. I would recomend this disc to anyone looking at drivers.
