Was looking for something that was a step up from my destroyers in stability. Definitely can handle a cannon arm! The only thing that was a little different was the rim, it was bigger than expected(bigger than destroyer rim) still a great disc though for those long power shots

Reviewing in halo champion plastic- very nice looking disc and relatively comfortable for a 13 speed driver. Very overstable though. I can throw just over 400 feet but this disc is really only useful for me in extreme wind or shots that need a very long fade. Honestly if you can't throw near 500 feet this probably won't work as a go to distance driver. If you can though, this is an excellent reliable bomber

Obviously a good disc. Primarily a flick player who throws 400. Was in my bag forever but just got tired of the inconsistency in different runs of them. I'd get one just right and lose it and then have to try five before finding one just like it. Can be great, can be annoying.

Summary: The most fun disc for a beginner that they shouldn't have.

Feel: The shape of the wing makes it more comfortable than it should for a disc that is so fast. This disc seems to be more consistent than others in finished product, all that I have seen have been relatively flat. You probably know Champion already, good grip and durability for all the consistency that you want.

Flight: Weight seems to matter so much more for drivers like this. I have a Blizzard Boss that is 12 grams lighter, but that seemed to be the difference in being able to keep the Blizzard one flatter for probably an extra 20-30 feet.

I've been playing for 15 years now, but the boss has been in my bag since year two. When I first started playing, I succumbed to the hype of a new speed 13 driver. I had no idea what that meant but I assumed it meant I could throw it really far. I pre-ordered a boss. When it showed up, it had a very strange stamp. I was super bummed – only later did I realize that this was a first run protostar stamp. Anyway, the thing was a meathook. It was impossible for me to throw it in any functional way, except for hyzer.  That said, I got my first ace on a 300 foot skip shot quite by accident, so there is that.

Anyway, on to the disc. The boss is now one of my favorite long range drivers. It's great into a headwind. When I first started playing, I was in Colorado, so the disc was extremely over stable. 7000 feet of elevation makes everything more or less go left. Now that I live in Maine, the boss is a great headwind driver for distance as it always fades and <almost> never turns over. But make no mistake about it, this disc is not for beginners. Unless you have an arm that goes at least 350, this disc has no place in your bag. It might as well be a Firebird. Weaker arms should definitely look at a Tern instead.  The very wide rim might be a challenge for small hands but these days a wide rimmed driver is kind of the norm.

I have average arm speed I would say so I could never dream of getting this disc up to speed for it to fly according to its #'s. With that in mind, this disc flies closer to a Discmania Tilt for me. It is my OS utility disc. My favorite way to throw it is a forehand roller, I force it down with an overhand tomahawk angle. I have to lay it down about 50-75ft from me, any further, it will fight out and dump. So amazingly, I can use this in the woods as a roller or to get out of trouble, since it is so sure and straight. Love this disc!

This is not a beginner friendly disc.

I have to throw a big flex to get the distance. would not recommend for new players

I originally got this disc as my first distance driver when i threw RHFH and that was a big mistake. But now that I have built up arm speed for this disc it is my furthest flying RHBH disc going 400+.

I have this disc in Champion at 175g which makes it one of the heaviest and most overstable disc i throw. I can also get some great flicks with this disc keeping low about 3ft off the ground and it will go 300' in a straight line before it begins to fade. Sense it stays so low to the ground it barely fades over. So I can take the low shot with this disc OR i can flick it high watch it make big fading shots.

I also have this disc in Blizzard plastic... but it just sits in my truck because i can not throw this disc without it crashing and burning unless i throw it super high to where it can fight back out of the turn. Even when doing stand still shots with this disc it crashes and burns in the blizzard plastic.

I own this in the Blizzard air-filled plastic. the lightweight makes this a great driver for tailwinds and would make for a great beginner driver. However, with my arm (300ft+) it is too flippy for a true distance driver for me when thrown with any other wind. in regular champion plastic and weight I'm sure it would be a great driver.

I have long arms. I am a relative intermediate. I do not throw with much speed and part of that is my liking of Star plastic over the more overstable Champion plastic. So why did I get a 171g Champion Boss? Answer: headwinds! I went out with a group on a course that was very open on a windy day, and I got tired of my Tern and Valkyrie being kicked around like rodeo clowns at a mule convention. The next day, I took my new Champion Boss to my home course, which is part open and part technical. It was windy and I made a point to throw the Boss into the headwinds. It performed very well. I threw a little right to compensate for the fade back to the left (I am RHBH), but the Boss gave me great distance, and the fade was not bad at all in the headwinds. A tailwind-aided throw also did very well. I have to add that I've improved my form and I am giving my hard throws some "snap", which this disc needs. This is not a disc for the novice. I likely won't use it much except for windy days and tee shots on very wide open holes. But the disc's performance is excellent, and if you play in the wind and have the power and/or technique to get it downrange, this disc is one I recommend.

I love this disc for max distance forehands. I can put this thing out to 350-380 with a forehand. It feels great in the hand and holds up to any amount of power that you can give it. It is also fantastic for backhands, I just prefer destroyers for backhands.

This was a blind purchase I made in the first few weeks of learning the game. I knew higher speed discs were more difficult to throw but I couldn't get over how smooth the feel of this disc is. The ridge takes about half of your index finger and feels so clean to grip. None of my other speed 13s feel half as good. You can really secure your entire wrist through the stress of throwing extra hard and not worry about slipping.

With some previous ultimate experience, I was able to throw backhand BOMBS with this thing quickly. It zips through the air at supersonic speed and it's hard to imagine a better distance driver for open field holes. It just *goes*. Haven't practiced many anheiser shots with it yet but seems unnecessary with 0 turn.

This is the disc I use for any open distance shot. The mechanics of your backhand will hold up which is shocking for how hard it cuts the air.

I tend to rely on my FH for long bombs off the tee. I have looked through many brands trying to find that one disc I can crush when needed. I can get the Boss out to about 450-470 with a good hard throw. The DD2's, D3max's, Corvette's, Hades', D2 Proto's, and a few others have all been capped with my arm around the 440-450 range. Boss just goes further with the same effort from what I have found.

This disc finally clicked with me. I started playing a few months ago when my dad got me a bunch of discs, one of them was my Boss. I hated it. It felt impossible to put on a straight line. I almost never used it because it would hyzer so quickly so I also never lost it. As my game got better I slowly put the boss to use to spike hyzer. I kept trying to find a driver I could send max distance as my understable drivers started to turn on me too much. Today I gave the Boss another earnest effort and now I finally get it. It is the only disc still in my bag from my first set of discs, and will stay because I will dive through lava for it. It is 100% consistent and the wide brim fits extremely comfortably for me.

This is a disc I mainly use when there is a lot of wind. For distance I throw wraiths or PD's. The only time my boss' come out is when the wind is going to play a factor. I currently carry two old 2008 feldberg bosses and they are still OS! Overall this is a disc I don't see many use. Most likely due to the comfort of a wraith or destroyer as they both have smaller rims and a more controllable and most likely consistent flight.

This was my first distance driver and first disc I ever bought. At the time I didn't know what the numbers ment but I saw that 13 speed and just assumed it would fly far. But that was far from the truth for me and it has just stayed in the bag because I don't have another disc to kick it out of its place. The rim is huge for my hands and it turns over so quickly it just cuts my distance without moving left much. I later got a notch from vibram and it worked a lot better for me as my overstable disc. I have no doubt this would be a great disc if i only had the arm speed to throw it.

This disc bombs and goes for days if thrown right. If you will spend the time to beat in your boss and get it exactly how you want it with an armspeed that matches it, you will find this disc to be a huge distance disc. I have some of my furthest thrown distances with my champion Boss. I do want to warn beginners that when I first picked up my brand new Boss this thing was a meat hook for me. I had a slow armspeed and could not get this thing to fly straight, but for more advanced players that are in need of a max distance driver that will glide for what seems like forever, you should get a Boss. It may not be the most comfotable feeling disc for everyone but it fits my hand perfect and I feel like I can rip on this disc getting 100% of my power into each throw.

My Champion Boss is an extremely overstable disc.  It probably doesn't help that I don't have the arm speed to throw even most speed 12 discs, but this disc does nothing but start fading left as soon as it leaves my hand.  Even on an anhyzer release, it very quickly flexes out of it and starts fading.  Unless you've got a cannon for an arm, don't even bother with a Boss.  It might be a little different for forehand throwers, but from what I've seen, even most pros prefer the speed 12 Destroyer over the Boss.

Champion Boss (175g) - This is a weird disc for me. I do not have the arm-speed to throw this thing backhand. It dumps hard to the left (RHBH) within maybe 150ft, but that's one of the reasons I keep it in my bag. Its a helpful shot to have sometimes; plus, its useful if I need a really overstable, glidey putt/approach shot that will fade pretty far around something when thrown 40-50ft. The other reason I keep one is for forehand, which I can just about manage the arm-speed for when thrown hard with hyzer. But I like it even more for shorter flex shots; because it is so overstable I can release it at 60-80% power on an anhyzer angle and then it will fade back to the right (RHFH) and finish hard. That's another really helpful shot to have if you play in the woods like I do most of the time.

I wouldn't recommend it to newer players though, because I think they would find it un-useful or discouraging until they were more familiar with the different type of throws that are available.

Have you ever thrown an actual brick? Well if you haven't, and you are new to disc golf, pick up a Boss and try to throw it as hard as you can. I did when I was new at the sport and it ended up becoming my go-to forehand disc for the first 2 years of playing. After I could get a distance driver accurately to about 450 feet, I started to try and use the Boss for back handed throws, and it is impressive! I can now flip it up to flat and have it turn over just a little before it's ever-reliable fade. It's one of my go-to back hand distance drivers now, along with the x-caliber. The Boss has great fade and a very solid skip at the end when thrown on a slight hyzer. I still use the boss for stable forehand shots, but it has become a primarily back hand driver for me now. I recommend one to any serious disc golfer that can put a destroyer out to 400-450 feet consistently.

Great ultra long range driver for the the top 1% of disc golfers. I myself do not use a Boss (or a destroyer even) as my Ultra Slot in the bag. I throw maximum of 450' with my wraiths and only get about 400 total MAX with a hard dump left with this disc. Usually after throwing my arm out with heat... and only once.

I used to use the Boss for headwind drives when I thought I was strong enough for destroyers. Now that I have disced down to Star and Champion Wraiths (and massively improved my distance and scores) I searched for a super flat Champ wraith defect. I was lucky enough to find one. This wraith is affected less than my boss by crosswind. So now that spot is not only covered, but covered within my speed zone.

So now what is my Boss for?

I use this disc exclusively for overhand thumbers that end right. I can get some serious overhand distance with the Boss's great glide and overstability. I occasionally use it for forehand shots that need a skip also. If I need the overhand to lay straight ahead I grab a monster or the defective wraith. Not essential at all for my bag and would grasp at a reason to ever buy another. I probably won't have to worry about losing this one anyway.

In Champion, this disc sails for a long time, mostly left (RHBH).  The glide this disc gets separates it from my Destroyers and Outlaws, so when the massive fade/carry is needed, this is my go-to disc.  You need some arm speed to get this disc to do what you want, and the wide rim might not be the best for beginners.

I like the Boss for flex shots, skips, and when there's a an OB running the length of the fairway on the right side (rhbh). It takes a lot of power to throw this disc in max weight, but I really like it in 160g. The R-Pro, and Champion plastics are great. The R-Pro gives a little more distance, but it can get flippy in the wind.  The only problem with this disc is that if you don't put enough power behind it, it will stall hard, and drop from the sky like a stone. This can be particularly disastrous when throwing over a water hazard.

I recently acquired a moderately beat in Boss in Champion plastic. While unlabeled, it feels close to max weight. I already have a 150g Boss in Blizzard and this Champion disc is significantly more stable. As such, it's a great compliment for my forehand drives as it can handle an anhyzer release (within reason) and yet reliably fade back for a long flex shot. While not quite as turnover resistant as my Innova Max, the trade off is substantially more distance with this disc. I'm not sure how I got along without this thing and hopefully it retains these flight characteristics over time. I still use the Blizzard Boss in a tailwind and for hyzer flips in calm conditions, but find myself throwing this Champion disc far more during a typical round. Reliable.

This is the very first disc i bought over four years ago in a champion plastic and it has the same stability since then! Love the boss for the wide rim back hand and forehand. It is a stable overstable disc depending on the pop or flatness of the disc. I use mine for primarily forehand long straight shots with a solid dump at the end.

My 175g Champ Boss is my go to forehand bomber. For my particular style, I only like forehanding overstable discs. I haven't mastered a hyzer-flip forehand. For that reason, I like the Boss. It flies pretty straight for a good while, then crashes hard to the right on my forehand throws. At full power, I can get it to turn slightly, and then straighten up for me and then fade hard. I put so much trust in this disc because unless I really roll my wrist at the end, it's not going to turn hardly at all for me. It's very reliable. I don't even bother throwing this backhand unless it's a short skip shot, because I don't have the power to control it.

For my style, I use the stacked grip on my forehands, so the huge rim on the Boss gives me a great grip.

If you have a weak backhand or forehand, this disc is going to be way to much at max weight. But if you want a wide-rimmed driver that will never let you down in the overstability department, give it a shot.

The Boss is probably Innova's best overall option for maximum distance combined with stability. It can handle big arms without flipping and has good glide. Slight variance between discs in terms of stability, but not enough to detract from it's performance. Not super beginner friendly. The Boss is definitely a disc for big arms gunning for max distance. Good wind performer too, it won't get tossed around too badly. Some dome variance. Flat Bosses are stable and not super glide-y. Domey ones are less stable and glide well.

On a side note, the Blizzard Boss is one of the worst drivers I've ever thrown. It's unthrowably flippy. I'm not even taking it into consideration here. My rating is based on the regular Champion Boss.

I picked up a Boss way too early in my disc golf career. Despite it being too fast of a disc for me, it helped me learn how to throw a powerful sidearm shot. I had a champion boss that stayed in my bag for a really long time, it was very reliable. As it broke in over time, I could actually throw it really far even though it was a max weight champion boss.

I give this 4* because of consistency. The Champion Boss I threw and Loved was not incredibly overstable, but other ones I have thrown have been unthrowably overstable. Not all Bosses are the same, and you have to know what you're looking for if you want a Boss that is right for you.

The Champion plastic is very durable and these Bosses will last forever!

By the numbers, I didn't think I had the arm to throw a Boss.  It handles the wind well and my longest throws were all with this disc.  If you can throw over 300 ft consistently, try a Boss for your overstable driver.  On a slight hyzer line, the Boss turns up a little and soars through the air.  It works very well for sidearm and overhand throws as well.  I've used it to get out of trouble with a roller too.  All around a great disc.

My go to sidearm disc. Love the soft "s" curve this has. My personal best drive would be with this BOSS!

Loved this disc. Was my go to driver and I lost it in a nasty dirty creek. You can't go wrong with this disc.

If you're still working up the arm to throw this backhand, forehand it until you do. My 175g Champion has not let me down on long LHFH drives with a nice S curve. It can have a hard fade and decent skip as well.

Such a nice disk for s turns for longer throws. Hyzer and anhyzer throws alike this disk pretty much has a repeating flight path. If under thrown like most disks it will fade to the left more then desired.

I've had a number of Boss' over the last few seasons. For the longest time, it was my favorite disc. Fast, super overstable, and most of all, predictable. As the disc has worn (Champion plastic, took a long time) it has gotten to the point where it won't come back from anhyzer throws, so gone are the days of my huge S tosses. I used to be able to throw this at almost a 45 degree angle and have it come back. My current one is mostly just used for turn and burn throws. Overall, a great disc. Also, I would recommend this disc for beginners. That huge fade is what prompted me to learn proper technique and get control of my throws. I prefer the "sink or swim" approach rather than slowly building up to faster and faster discs.

I trade a friend a putter I found on the ground for a Orange 171g champion boss and all I gotta say is that I will never stake this disc away because it flys smooth and its awesome for sidearm! So if you are thrower and throw sidearm I highly recommend this disc.

The Innova Boss is AMAZING! I currently have one in champion plastic that I found that was dark blue, so I spray painted it yellow. This disc is the one in your bag that goes really far with pinpoint accuracy. Plus, the glide is amazing as well. You can throw the boss 1 ft off the ground and it will go on forever. I need to get another one of these. They're too good.

my very first driver...which wasn't smart because my arm strength and technique were poor, but I could forearm my champion boss a few hundred feet with extremely predictable fade. Now, it gets where it needs to go in a hurry, and depending on how hard I snap it, I know where its ending up! #CHAINS

The champion Boss in my bag has many uses. I use this disc for any wind shot and it's also a great forehand disc! This disc also skips on the ground very easily when thrown forehand and backhand. It is also a great tomahawk thrower. Once beat in, this disc will hug tight corners and finish with a straight line. Truly one of my favorite discs!

GREATEST disc of all time!! I'm an experienced player and I have always had a 175g Champion Boss in my bag. As well as a few on the wall (ace club). Personally the Star plastic fades different for me, but who knows for sure. Great for any element no matter how many inches of snow or how many mph of wind. Can shoot anything I'm a rhbh player but can flick it 400ft with the boss. Great disc for thumbing and tomahawk as well. First disc I ever bought so I would recommend this disc for everyone. Just expect better results with the more you use it.

I have owned a few Boss' and have always loved them. I just bought a Champion Blizzard Boss and have to say it has flown the farthest of any brand new disc I've ever bought. I love how the Blizzard plastic gets down into the 150 class without sacrificing flight. Looking forward to trying other Blizzard discs.

I have mixed feelings about the boss, mainly in champ plastic. For me, when thrown backhand, I can get it to hold a line well and then get a decent fade and skip. Other times however it will turn and burn on me, sometimes even turning into a roller. I can have some great shots with it and some absolutely horrible. Also when I use it for a forehand shot, I have to give it a little hyzer and then it will go into a long turn and then decent fade. If you can get a decent rip on it though, it seems like it will hold its line forever. I have found it tough though to get an immediate hyzer out of it though, always wants to turn slightly or stay straight.

Champion took some getting use to. Nice fliggt and runs hard to the left. Really have to muscle this disc but when you get the form right it performs well. A nice disc to have in the bag on windy days.

I have a champion 171 gram boss, I call this disc my NASCAR disc... Only turns left. I am a right hand back hand player and can throw 350 feet consistently but can't get this disc to turn right to do an s flight, therefor only get about 250 feet or so out of it. I use it mainly for big hyzer shots and is great in a strong head wind. I know it is a great disc for a fore hand shot but unfortunately I don't have that shot in my bag.

The Champion & Star Boss and the head winds go together like peanut butter and jelly. This fast driver will cut the wind like a knife and it's stable mold will resist turning over. It is a 13-speed, so the rim is quite thick. A wise choice for intermediate players dealing with head winds and professional players. The R-Pro Boss is an entirely different disc. It is incredibly domey and comes in very light weights (150g). The disc flies very far, even for those who don't have a lot of power, however, it is uncontrollable. The R-Pro Boss plastic also beats in unacceptably fast leaving the player with a trashed wad of candle wax after only a handful of throws.
