This disc is a favorite of Prodigy's fans as an overstable approach disc. The A3 is beaded, and has a wide rim for an approach disc. This wide rim makes forehand releases clean and accurate.

This was the very first Prodigy disc I picked up and fell in love with it immediately. I use it mainly for forehand because it seems to handle a lot of power and still fade back, and I love the 400 plastic because it's very easy to grip and seems super durable. If you're looking for something like a zone but a little more glide then try this disc out, you won't be disappointed.

Just like the A4, but more overstable and less glide/distance. Just read my A4 review. Great super overstable approach disc

This disc is crazy overstable. I got this disc the other day and after one round I can see why its compared to a zone. This disc was fighting out of insane anhyzer lines I was putting it on. I would say this disc is too overstable for me so it'll probably only come out on windy days, but it is still such a nice disc. I was able to throw this maybe 200-220ft forehand and maybe 280-300ft backhand. It is definitely overstable enough not to turnover for you even if you are a power thrower, and is a great disc if your needing to get crafty because of a bad lie. I don't recommend this disc for beginners as it is just wacky overstable, but I could see it being such a great disc for players who are advanced enough to get a good handle on it.

I haven't really figured out how to get a great amount of distance i average about 100 to 150 before it meathooks but I am in love with this disc as a utility/approach disc its very dependable the fade it has allows it to crash in the ground with a predictable skip role great for wooded approach shots.

Reliable fade, low glide, and slow to finish. This is what approaching should feel like!

I'm a huge fan of unique molds. The A3 is unlike any other "4 speed" on the market and has an interesting flight path to boot. This disc seems to have an imaginary wall around 300 feet that it just can't fly past. Around that distance (for me) it slows down heavily and dies. Even in 400 plastic it'll run out of speed before it starts fading when thrown at max power. But this disc isn't meant for max power; it really shines at 70% power. Touchy flex forehands, 200' hyzers, and slow skips is this discs claim to fame. With the low profile driver like feel, it comes out of the hand very clean (and makes a really fun whistle sound). I don't think I'll take this out of my bag in this lifetime for the 300' and in approaches.

I also use this disc for ~250' thumbers. I get a lot of heat for doing it, but the flat-top A3's work really well for the slow thumber shot since there's not much ground action.

When I need the turn of a a1 but more glide this is the go to this disc. It has the nice overstability that you need with a little more glide that its beefier brothers.

The A3 is a shallowed rim Approach disc. This disc is the definition of an approach disc. I wouldn't call it a midrange, nor would I call it a putter. It is really beefy, but I wouldn't agree that it's comparable to the Gator. Maybe in how it might fly for you, but definitely not in the feel. It feels great for sidearms.

If you're in the market for a shallow-rimmed approach disc that feels great for sidearms and backhands then the A3 might be right for you. Make sure you have the power for it however.

The A3 is a super overstable beaded approach disc. I would compare this disc to a champion Gator. It wants to fade in a hurry. You can throw some nice flex shots with this disc and trust that it will always come back. Unless you have some serious power, you aren't going to get a ton of distance out of this disc.

This disc is just something else.

Like others have said, and I like to describe it the same way, its just silly. It just crashes to the ground. I've never seen another disc do it like this disc does. And it whistles, which again, I've never seen before.

Its not like a Harp or Zone. It's way more over stable than that. I can definitely get a Harp further than the A3, but I don't use the A3 for longer shots. Maybe once it gets broken in a little more I can get it to go a little further.

The disc itself is comfortable to hold and throw to me even though I'm not the biggest fan of beads. Prodigy discs have always been very comfortable to me. And they come off clean for me. Prodigy also has very nice plastic. 400s feels like Innova champion plastic just a little grippier.

I use this disc for shots that I need to crash soon or sharply. It doesn't have a lot of ground play which is nice for approaches. I also like it for forehand shots. Again, it just feels comfortable to me. I know I can't throw it as far as other people can, but I don't need it to go that far. I just use it for those sharp turn approaches.

This is a truly unique disc. I use my Harp for normal approach shots and the A3 for sharp shots where the disc must cut quickly into the ground.

Between the A3 and the Harp you're good to go on approach discs.

Yes, they whistle.  The flight is old school, overstable, mid PERFECTION.  More OS than flight chart indicates on calm days.  In a stiff headwind, though the hint of turn will be there.  Only the dome prevents me from giving it 5 stars (heck, 6 stars).  I have other domey discs I've adapted to, but there are a few grips/shots I just can't do with the A3 comfortably.  That's not the disc's fault, it's probably my fingers' fault.  Even if Prodigy made a run of flat top A3's they'd only break even because those would kick A2's out of my bag.  While being needy, when can I expect flat-top A3.5's, Prodigy?  In 750 plastic please so I can I cut down trees with it.

This is the only prodigy disc I throw. This is my go to approach and short drive (<275 ft) disc that fade hard left (RHBH) at the end. It is not much affected by the wind but turns slightly in a giant headwind (>20 mph) but always finishes to the left. I really like the straightness on the flight with a dump at the end. It is really good disc for short hyzer and spike hyzer shots. I use this disc mainly for approaches when I need a huge skip or when I have enough space on the right hand side. I have not used this disc for forehand utility purpose but I would like to try it out. Somebody mentioned it whistles when thrown and I have to agree with that...it's funny but it does whistles.

I named this disc whistles because it literally whistles when it flies... (sorry, not important). do you ever have that disc that you instantly connect with? That disc that is always in your hand? That is thenough A3 for me. I beat up my zone and was intending on getting another on, but never got around to it because this does everything a zone does and more. You can throw it as far as a mid, as hard as a driver. It never flips and it has a big skip. Whistles is my secret weapon

what a meat hook. This disc still has a place in my bag and verious utility but fades like that 4 year old state parking pass on your windshield. For shorter upshots that need to fade hard or need to lay down to avoid hazards this is the disc.

For quite a while I've been in the market for something more overstable than my M1s. While the M1 is my most thrown non-putter, I needed something I could really rely on to hook up hard or hang on a big sweeping hyzer without any worry of it flipping to flat.

I bagged a Verdict, a Justice, a Hornet, a Drone, the 2015 retooled M1, a Gator, a Rancho Roc, a Demon... You name it, I gave it a go. I eventually settled on an MD3 after not finding anything that felt good in my hand and filled the slot I was looking for. The MD3 is a great disc, but still will flip flat on big hyzer lines. I ended up using OS fairways and giving them less power.

Then the A-Series came out. The A1 was a delicious beast, but mostly utility. Really didn't like to go anywhere. Kind of a shorter Justice. The A3 came out and was JUST the flight I was looking for, but the domey top bothered me. Then I picked up an A2 proto and fell in love. It flew much like the A3, but with a slight puddle top. Beautiful feel in the hand. I thought I had finally filled that slot... but I was wrong.

The A2 was not quite as long as my A3 had been, and ended up a bit short of what I really wanted. So, I pulled the A3 back out and played around with different grips. There is a small divot between the flight plate and the wing and I found that - using a power grip - if I place my thumb towards the outside edge along that divot, instead of a power grip with my thumb towards the inside of the flight plate, the dome was not even noticeable and I was actually getting even better results in a spike hyzer.

The A3's money zone is big sweeping or spike hyzers in the 200'-250' range. You can take so many obstacles out of play by letting an overstable disc work it's magic for you and the A3 is a perfect example. It easily shapes for beautiful flex lines or big, slow panning overhand shots. Moreover, it will take even my forehand OATs and eat 'em up for breakfast!

Great disc for power throwers looking for a short range overstable monster. However, I would not recommend this at all to newer players or players with lower arm speeds unless they are looking for the beefiest of meat hooks.

My new favorite disc is the A3.

    - Smaller diameter disc that fits great in the hand.
    - Has a slight dome which helps give it a little more glide over the A1.
    - Extra glide means more distance.
    - Can handle extreme amounts of power without thinking about turning over.
    - Great forehad disc.

Most beginners should stay away from the A3. I feel it will confuse and agitate people who do not have solid form with power.

My usual long driving range is 440-475ft and the A3 can handle all the power I can throw at it.

In my opinion it is more over-stable than the Gator, but less than a Justice. It goes farther than both of them as well.

I was excited to try the A3 after hearing about its release. I normally don't throw a lot of Prodigy (mainly because I am addicted to Trilogy), but I really liked the A3! The disc fills a good niche in the Prodigy line and performed similar to a regular run Champion or Star Gator (the slightly domey ones, nothing like a flat-top).

I have always liked the Prodigy plastics, and the 400 works well with this disc; a little bit of gumminess, great grip, and awesome durability. This disc, for me, is a disc I want to be durable. The type of shots I often shape with this type of disc can cause it to take a beating fast. The 400 plastic stood up well to some good hyzers that would sometimes find their way into trees, rocks, and paved surfaces...

The level of stability the A3 has is perfect for me; not insanely overstable like the A1 (which serves a much more specific purpose), but stable enough to stand up in adverse conditions. I could shape this disc fairly well. It obviously does great with hyzers and a little bit of wind, but I was also impressed with my throws where I released it flat or on an anhyzer line.

Overall I think this is a great disc to have in your bag, and I was excited to see Prodigy come out with a mold that serves these duties so well! Not to mention the great feeling plastic. I would really recommend this disc, especially if you are a prodigy lover.

I like the A3!!  I'm a big fan of Overstable mids, I have a couple Justices and a Buzzz OS that I use for tons of approaches and shorter drives.  The A3 fits right in that category (well, not as overstable as a Justice), but a beefy, reliable disc that you know will fade hard.  Right away the A3 feels like a small disc, yet it's shape still reminds me of a mid.  It definitely feels like a mid/putt crossbreed, which I imagine is what they were aiming for.  Out of the hand it held a tighter route than my Buzzz OS typcically does.  The A3 flew quite straight before beginning it's dive bomb fade.  I really like this because typically my other overstable discs take more of a hyzer route the entire time.  This allowed me to through it up tight tunnels and then dump out beautifully at the end.

This is definitely a trust worthy, reliable disc that I'm excited to use more!

I tested the A3 out this week, and I was very impressed. I look forward to trying it out more, and it may even find a permanent slot in my bag. This is the number one thing that I found very impressive about the A3--you can trust that it will not turn over. If I put a lot of power in it on a flat release it held straight throughout the flight and then finished with a reliable fade. I would say this is comparable to a Gator, but not quite as overstable. I throw an Innova Spider, and as far as grip in my hand it was similar, but again, the A3 held straight on shots that my Spider would have turned over on. As I tried it on a variety of shots, the word that comes to mind is consistency. I felt like I could trust the A3 to fly exactly how I thought it would on every throw. It is definitely an overstable disc though. If I released it too soft it would dive out early. But if you give it the right kind of shot, it flew great. I think this is a disc that a lot of golfers will be able to find a place for it in their game.
