The Ion is one of MVP’s high glide discs with just a small amount of overstable fade at the end of the flight. These characteristics make this a great long-range putter for disc golfers of all skill levels. This disc is available in each of MVP’s plastics, including their Eclipse plastic, which glows in the dark. It is also available in the soft Proton plastic.

If you use a power grip this putter should be one you should get a hand on to at least try. As the bottom features a nice curve between the lip and base. Making it extremely comfortable to hold if you putt or throw with fingers going in the disc. The electron plastic also has a grip to it that doesn't get too tacky.

    This putter is awesome!

I had been struggling with my putting putters for a few months, but after some research, I decided to try out Ions. I can't believe that what I was missing had been right here the whole time! These putt straight with a reliable fade for those long putts. The bead is the perfect size to rest your finger while putting. They also rarely come out of the hand with a wobble.

Everyone needs to try some of these!

Probably the straightest flying putter I've ever thrown, I've been throwing mine in the electron plastic and i use it for almost all of my backhand putter shots up to around 240 but can definitely get it out around 280-290 on a good pump, super glidey, and not much turn

For me this feels like the judge putter of the MVP lineup. That's a good thing. It feels good in hand maybe slightly deeper than judge but not uncomfortable. Good for putting and throwing but if you are going MVP pick you up an envy to compliment this as your thrower

If you are someone who likes a putter more on the stable side for putts inside Circle 1, then this disc may compliment your main putter quite well for those longer putts, approaches, and potential throw-in's. This was one of my first putters, and it's neutral rating is perfect for those new to the game looking for a straight flyer. For seasoned players who are looking to experiment with putter distance, I highly recommend giving the Ion a spin.

I have been using this disc for about 2 month and it has been a good replacement to the Envy since I have used my Envy as my throwing putter because it's understability.

For approaching, I think the Ion is very true to the numbers and when thrown flat and with good power it will go straight, if you give it any anhyzer angle it will hold that anhyzer line and for shots that may be pinched off.

For putting, I like the stability that the disc has as mentions above when thrown with power it will go straight with a very slight fade at the end. This, for me is good for my putting style (more of a slight hyzer putt) I feel that when I putt off center the Ion will come back to the Pro side of the chains more than my Envy did.

I would highly recommend this disc for beginners learning to putt and for that shot that you need to approach about 100' to 150'. Hope this is helpful for anyone who is in between putter in the MVP/Axiom/Streamline brands.

This disc does have an interesting shape to it when it comes to the inside of the disc. Has more of a rounded or scooped interior. It does have a bead and it gives me a place to rest my index finger. I didn't think I would like a beaded putter, but soon as I held it, it was a perfect fit. Does like to rise on me a bit and was missing high when I first started using it. Typically I would have the opposite problem with other putters. Starting to change out all my putters to this disc in the regular Electron plastic. Has some flex, but still firm enough for consistent release.

I have two of these, both electron, one at 167g and the other at 187g. I love these putters! The only thing I'd have to say is, they're really thick and bulky for the average played and it took a minute to get the hand of it. But I used to put with these allot. Now I use them if I have a hole under 250 feet I normally use this desk and because of its accuracy back and I'm able to put it within 20 to 15 feet if not closer pretty consistently around the basket. The only thing that I've had an issue with when it comes to this desk is simply the fact of how easily it can be chipped and broken the rubber all along the sides of the desk all those great when you hit the chains it's also very fragile and frail when it comes to hitting Asphalt and rocks. And you don't have to have a very high speed to get this disc going correctly. Otherwise the rating on this disc is legit.

Disc - 175 MVP Electron Ion

Feel - The Ion is moderately deep but feels good in the hand. It has a bead but it is not a super large one. It feels good for both putting and throwing. The electron plastic is very grippy and has some amazing looking swirls.

Flight - (Throwing) The Ion is a very straight putter with the smallest bit of turn. If thrown on a hyzer it will flip up just a bit and fly extremely straight. It has a lot of glide so the distance potential for this disc is very high even though it flies very slowly through the air.
(Putting) - For some reason the Ion seems to come out of my hand extremely smoothly every time that I putt with it. It flies very straight with a bit of finish at the very end of the putt. I really liked this putter for long jump putts as it holds a nice straight line.

Overall - The Ion is a great disc that I definitely think you should check out and look past the overmold because it is not noticeable at all on this disc.

Took me a little bit of getting use to this putter, I use it mostly for approach shots since it just glides and glides with little effort. Got a really deep sides which took me time to get used to, now I love it. Its my over 25 ft putter of choice, very consistent.

The Ion is my go-to BH throwing putter, especially off the tee in wooded courses or short tunnels. It holds whatever line you put in on, but loves a straight release and slight fade. Once you beat it in, it is great for turnover BHs and straight FH approaches.

The grip is unique to me, with a curved, seamless inner rim. So it took a second to get used to, but quickly became one of my favorite discs. This might be a smart buy for any ultimate frisbee players out there.

The Ion is my favorite putter for both putting and throwing. I know some people don't like this kind of thick putter with a bead, but I love how the thickness fills up the crease in the middle of my palm, and I can use the bead to squeeze the rim between my index finger and thumb. It gives me what I think is the ideal grip, and that combined with MVP's grippy baseline plastic is really perfect for guaranteeing that I can hold onto the disc for exactly as long as I want. So at least for me, this is the most comfortable disc that I could be throwing.

As for the flight, the Ion is basically straight at high speed and then has a baby fade when it slows down. If you put it on an anhyzer line then it will ride that anhyzer for about 75% of the flight and then flatten out at the end. If you put it on a hyzer line then it will give you some fade but not as much as a really overstable putter (Harp, Zone, Slammer, etc.) It's basically just got enough stability for you to throw it hard without worrying too much about it flipping, but not so much stability that it's going to fade early and reduce your distance. I would call it overstable, but that would imply that it has too much stability, and the amount is really perfect if you ask me.

And then you have the glide. This is where that deep profile really comes in handy. I can throw this disc as far as a lot of 4 speed discs because it generates so much lift while it's flying through the air. You basically just need to get behind this disc with a lot of snap and release it flat, and it will have no problem flying an easy 250 feet, or even more if you have a big arm.

And then I have to mention the glide again, except this time for when you're putting. If you need that little extra distance for long putts, then this is the disc that will get you there. No longer do you need to throw nose-up putts or hyzer putts to get that extra distance. Just throw the Ion nose-down and make sure to snap your wrist, and it will get over the top of the cage if you give it that little bit of extra power.

I hate to sound like an MVP salesman, but I just like this disc that much. I have an Electron Ion that is getting a little beaten up, so I'm getting a Plasma Ion for throwing and then I'll be able to use the Electron Ion exclusively for putting.
