Super flippy, I would definitely go star for the stability. Rookie mistake.

The Wraith is the prefect distance driver for my hands. If I want the consistency of a destroyer, I grab the Halo Wraith which is overstable. If I want more turn I grab my pro, if I want to flip it for a turn and burn I grab DX, if I want a typical flight I grab my beat in star.

The GStar wraith is nice because it' doesn't fade hard. It has some fade anywhere between 1-2 but it's not a 3 fade and it doesn't turnover on a hard flat for me. Flies straight with some turn then a gentle fade. 11/5/-1/1.5. It does what I want my DD1 to do.

Summary: The recommended distance driver for rain rounds or more clammy hands.

Feel: GStar is the grippiest plastic that I've felt. The thing GStar gives up for grip is stiffness, it's a little flimsy in the hand in the summer time but maybe preffered over Star in the colder times. GStar is a bit shorter than other plastics in the same mold, if that's your preference.

Flight: Like other Wraiths, it's pretty standard flight wise, minus the shorter top giving it some extra stability from the way the plastic cooled.

I love the Wraith. As a newer player I have just recently graduated from fairway drivers giving me my max distance to true distance drivers and the Wraith is my max distance disc by quite a bit. I personally love the GStar plastic for feel and it's a little more understable which helps for newer/slower arms. I would definitely encourage new players to wait before trying to throw drivers, but once they are ready the Wraith is an excellent choice.

This can be a difficult disc to throw but is great to throw in windy conditions. Needs a lot of arm speed in order to get true flight of the disc. I have a Gstar plastic and it is very gummy. Definitely a great cold weather disc.

The Wraith is a great disc for me personally because it is a solid distance driver with a reasonable rim width. Many players who have a press grip or a grip the has the front of their  fingers on the rim as opposed to the tips and who also want the the edge of the disc nested below their index finger knuckle, have trouble wrapping around a 12 speed or higher disc. I throw destroyers and D2s, D3s and while these are great discs, I have to adjust my grip slightly to achieve a good nose down angle. The Wraith sits perfectly in my hand and allows me to apply full power at a variety of angles. Although it is slightly lower is speed, the gstar Wraith makes up for it in great flight characteristics for and intermediate arm, perfect for a 350+ hyser flip or a longer force over. Star Wraiths are slightly more stable, but also great depending upon the application. I have about 6 wraiths right now and usually keep at least 2-3 in my bag. With a great flip to flat and dependable fade, this is my go do disc in any condition.

As a beginner player this disc still flys long and quite straight with a reliable fade. I still only trust it on pretty open holes. The GStar plastic and rim depth feel great in the hand. Highly recommended as a disc that you can work up towards.

    (Gstar plastic, 172g)

I picked this disc up about a year ago and it is just so reliable. I find this disc (at least the one I grabbed) has insane glide, holding a slight turn for ages before finishing reliably. I pull this out when I want to go ~400ft straight and then finish. One of the easier drivers to throw, imo, and while it is a bit slower than other popular drivers, its distance is no joke.

I love the Wraith!! It is a great stability for a intermediate player that is learning to throw further. I had a champion plastic which I liked but went with the GStar for my second wraith and it's the best disc I've ever owned. Can't recommend it enough.

This is my go-to distance driver, without contest. They feel absolutely fantastic in the hand, and can be adapted to a wide variety of shots. If you need something to flip to flex, get a lighter GStar. If you need a control hyzer disc, get a mid-weight Star. The sheer comfort and ease of throwing this thing far is what makes it special, at least for me.

This is a review for the infamous Wraith in G* plastic @ 168g.

Another disc that needs no introduction, the Wraith is a staple mold in many bags and appears to be resurgent lately. I initially steered clear because I assumed it would be close enough in flight to a Destroyer to be too much for my ~350' max distance. Compared to a Star Destroyer at the same weight, the G* Wraith is much more friendly to someone with my release speed. On a clean, flat pull, I get a little bit of turn, a nice, straight flight, and a moderate fade at the end. On a slight hyzer, it tips up just slightly toward flat, but I think my power is just a bit too low to get a proper hyzer flip.

Compared to other distance drivers, I'd say that Wraith complements my I-blend Pharaohs well. I can get a bit more distance out of the Pharaohs on a flat release, but they are a little more touchy and can turnover more easily than the Wraith. However, the Pharaohs end with a bit more of a forward fade on a flat release. So, the Wraith is the go-to driver for me in a headwind where I need distance and a consistent finish, whereas the Pharaoh helps with those flatter, max-distance drives.

The Wraith makes forehands more fun. My forehand is crummy, but the Wraith is fairly forgiving, and has enough fade to help end right (RHFH) for a reasonably decent release. As a result, I wouldn't start by practicing with it if you're trying to mitigate off-axis torque and controlled lines, but on the course it's really nice. I slightly prefer my Champ Thunderbird for forehands since I don't have as much distance yet and its more overstable, but the G* Wraith is great out there.

I'd say the "Destroyer light" title is deserved in the best possible way. It's a driver accessible to smaller arms with the ability to scale up to advanced arms. It offers excellent consistency. My guess is that a Champ or Star Wraith would still be too much for someone like me, but I can't wait to take the G* out to a local bomber course and start honing my game with it.

I'd say "neutral" for beginners depending on how well they can keep the nose down and approach 300' of power with fairway drivers. It might be frustrating and dump too early for novices, and I'm glad I didn't try it until I knew some of the basics. But it's definitely worth it when you're ready, and I think it's a rare combination of useful and forgiving in G*.

    Recommended!

Edit 8.23.2021: As I get more experience, I affirm that this is one of the discs (along with my Pharaohs) that will be the one that gets me occasionally to 360-380 feet, which is just where I can start to see its full flight but slightly below where I should probably be pulling these out. Will return to this disc if I ever get my range up that high. It's still helpful to do field practice with because it helps me calibrate my throws and expectations.

This is one of, if not my favorite distance driver. I actually have 4 in my bag, and have thrown a dx wraith through its complete life cycle (it's a roller now). The G Star plastic has more give than the Star plastic does, and breaks in a little bit quicker. I wouldn't recommend this to someone who just started playing, but it was my first disc (I had no idea what I was doing yet). I slowly developed thew arm speed for it, and when my dx was in its prime flight phase it could break 400 feet.

Like I said earlier I have 4 in the bag, and I retired my first one, so I've had 5 so far. I plan on getting a Pro Wraith soon, and possibly a Halo Star. I get the best results with the 172 weight, but upped my weight and plastic once I started turning over my DX's. Get one, they are the best!

I picked up an x-out Wraith from a misprint bin at the local disc store and it was my go to from the very first time I threw it. I was a fairly new player so I didnt get any of the turn in the flight but I didnt throw it far enough to really get the fade either. I could throw this thing dead straight for almost 300 and I loved it. I took it to a championship course by my hometown and proceeded to throw it and get my first turn in flight with it. Straight over a hill and into some heavy sage brush and never saw it again. I switched to Discraft before I picked up a new one but my wife still throws hers sometimes and I like to borrow it just to watch it fly. One of my all time favorite discs and would recommend this to anyone. I think beginners with a higher arm speed can really utilize this disc and get good distance and intermediate to advanced players can really rip this and feel like a pro with the distance.

I own a Champion Wraith and a Gstar. I tend to change go-to discs far too often, but I think I may have found a mold I'm going to stick with for awhile. In champion plastic it's fairly stable and can handle power throws. In the gstar plastic, it's pretty flippy. I like to put the gstar on a hyzer release with a little less power and it flips up to flat and gives a nice straight flight with minimal fade. Great for tunnel shots.
The best thing about this disc is the comfort in my hand. I will be picking up a star too. The think that's going to be the sweat spot.

Man oh man, this is my favorite driver I have ever had. I got so used to throwing my sidewinder and leopard3 because I could never shake the inevitable hyzer of a higher speed disc. I used to have a DX wraith that I was getting used to and was throwing well enough, until on a whim I thought about maybe getting a gstar mold because I heard it was the flippiest mold Innova had. It did not dissapoint. Getting this in my bag has added nearly 50 feet to my drive within the 2 months I have had it. That little bit of flippy/natural flex I get from the softer plastic is to awesome for words.

I now recommend to all my new disc friends that are looking to club up and are having trouble to get it their discs to flatten out to try out a g-star Wraith as their first dip into the heavy boy realm.

Wow... this disc is so incredibly controllable. I mean it is fast enough to eat up distance and has enough glide to take advantage of what you put on it... but wow this disc can hit chains from anywhere on the course. Innova's greatness is obvious, but this disc has helped build that greatness. It is so comfortable in the hand and is incredibly easy to get to flip up to flat on a good throw, but I can guarantee that it will come back left. No matter how hard I try to test this thing's ability to not come back, it will flip up and come back every time. I have tremendous confidence in this disc to be able to give me a fighting chance of acing from just about anywhere 325 feet and in.

I wouldn't recommend this for absolute beginners, due to how it is stable and you do need a good amount of spin on the disc in order to get a true flight out of it. However, I'd say this can be your second distance driver for sure. This disc would be a great disc to learn how to be controllable off of your drives with, once you get past the phase where you are just learning how to put spin on the disc. For intermediate players, this absolutely belongs in your bag, as it is very easy to control and will give you a very great shot at lowering your score.

The wraith is a great driver.  This is my first gstar plastic disc I've ever had, it's also my first wraith.  I'd echo many of the other reviewers on here saying it flies far and great.   I personally like the 11 speed because it'd not too fast for me, it's a good step up from the usual fairway drivers.  The only thing I don't like about it is the feel of the gstar plastic, its probably more of a mental thing but I just don't always feel confident that it's going to fly the way I want it to. At this point I wish I bought it in either champion or star. I have noticed that the fade isn't quite so hard as a 3, I don't know if it's just broken in or if it's the plastic.  Either way I do like and bag this disc, it's not necessarily a "go to" for me but again I think it's more of a mental block with the plastic type.

Last month I hit an ace on a forehand throw with a 172g Pro Wraith. I retired it and shelved it after buying a Gstar 172g. Wednesday I hit a really odd uphill ace on a shorter 212 foot pin. It's getting retired early so I don't lose an ace disc.

Yes, it's being replaced with another Wraith until it pops an ace. Great disc, love it for flick and backhand both.

The Wraith is by far my favorite disc I have ever had. From the first time I picked up my first Wraith, I knew it was a match made in heaven. The Wraith feels like an extension to my arm. This disc is what I use to forearm and it flies so well. It is very reliable and flies the same everytime. When I bought the G-Star plastic I had no idea what I was in for, but it was the best decision of my life. The plasic is very smooth and very grippy. Especially when it hits those chains for an ace. I love this disc and it loves me back.

Love this disc. I've throw my furthest drives so far with this disc and love to see it go. Mine has some wear on it, so it doesn't have much fade. When I get a good throw on it, it soars straight for a long time, will have a slight bend to the right and then finishes left. It's a thing of beauty to watch! This disc is similar to a slower destoryer based on the flight ratings. I would recommend this disc to someone who has been playing awhile. Not a good first driver, but when you have developed arm speed a bit, this disc could be a great addition to your bag!
