The Leopard is the classic, straight-flying Innova fairway driver. This disc is very popular in starter sets thanks to the reliable flight path and limited fade. It’s not the fastest flying disc (speed 6) but new players will likely see more distance with the Leopard than just about any other disc. While the Leopard is great for beginners, it can be found in bags of more advanced players as well. With moderate throws this disc is perfect for weaving between narrow lines of trees. It also makes a good turnover driver that slices to the right, and a good roller disc as well. If you want a great disc to perfect your throwing technique, buy a handful of inexpensive DX Leopards and head to a field.

Amazing beginner disc. Very reliable S-turn that rarely lets you down. Also throws very straight if you underpower it. If you plan on using for any time probally get it in Champion or Star plastic because DX turns flippy pretty fast. Once you outgrow this disc the Lattitude 64 Maul is a great step up.

175 gram DX Innova Leopard. This review only applies to the Leopard in DX plastic. DX is plastic itself is affordable and feels pretty good and the Innova Leopard has a reputation for being a good first fairway driver for beginners. But the DX Leopard was not for me. DX plastic beats in very quickly and after a few rounds my Leopard became too inconsistent and difficult to control for me to continue using it. I continued to carry it for several months as a disc to throw over water or other hazards and lost it the first time I threw it on a long downhill hole with thick woods on either side of a narrow path. I am not saying the Leopard is not still a great disc for beginners, but I recommend paying $5 more for Star or Champion plastic, which should remain enjoyable to throw for a lot longer. Or try the Discraft Sting, a comparable disc which I found to be more consistent and useful.

It was my first ever disc, and it served me well for a very long time. Its flight path is predictable and consistent, so it's a great disc to learn good technique with. I'd recommend getting it in star plastic, because it's a lot more durable and grippy, but for beginners, it's a great disc with a lot of upside.

Summary: It's a beginners best disc, and an intermediates most fun disc.

Feel: The shape of the disc is just a touch awkward once you've experienced more than the starter disc, but it's fine as a new player. The DX plastic is quite fine, fine in terms of grip and durability. I think the awkwardness comes from the wing being so low and the dome making the disc so tall that it feels like the thumb doesn't grip it properly.

Flight: Beginners will be able to get it to fly straight for a while, working their way into being able to flip it up. Then intermediate players will be able to flip it into a roller when throwing flat. They may also be able to throw it as a grenade and get an actual flight out of it.

Mine and probably a lot of others first fairway driver.  I got this disc in an Innova starter set.  I did not throw it until I was comfortable with my form.  I love this disc and it is still in my bag.  I can throw this with the same motion and speed and rely on it to fly exactly the same way with high consistency.  I think almost anyone starting disc golf should throw a Leopard.  Highly recommended.

I definitely don't throw a leopard, but it is the first driver I hand to new players for sure. It is great to learn form and begin to increase distance. Hard to go wrong! The DX ones wear out quickly if thrown hard into trees or other hard objects, but most people outgrow the disc before it wears in in my experience. Great disc!

This and a Teebird were the fairway drivers I got with a DX starter set given to me in 2018. Both worked pretty well for me, though I was determined to make the most of the Destoyer that came in the set, so my wife, son, and daughter tended to rotate use of the Leopard more than I used it. It has certainly gotten beat in over these years, yet my wife still uses it as one of her two primary discs (the other is a Neo Origin). She is almost exclusively a forehand player, and it works well for her that way. I could generally throw it on a hyzer and get good distance with it, though it's a bit too understable for my purposes now: it will flip over and into the ground too easily. I think this is probably common for beat-in DX Leopards as I've found two others that had been lost in brush on the right side of different fairways. As with a lot of other discs, I'd recommend a better plastic and may at some point get one just to see for myself the difference it would make.

I have one leopard each in DX, Pro and Champion plastic. The DX are notoriously very flippy, the champion one is not so much. They are pretty much different discs.

The S-curve flight advertised looks great, but I usually have to throw these so high to avoid turning them over that they end up not going that far. I never found it as useful as throwing another disc straighter and farther with the same effort. By the time you can get the full flight, you are probably better moving to a more stable or faster disc unless you need that specific shot shape and distance.

That said, this was my main driver for a while when I first moved up to drivers, and is great for beginners who don't want to just throw putters and mid-ranges.

    My rough flight ratings:

DX 6/5/-2.5/1 (gets much more understable quickly with use, very flippy)

Pro 6/5/-2/1 (will flip to flat and turn over a bit)

Champion 6/5/-1.5/1.5 (does a much better job coming back at the end of the flight, or at least not becoming a roller)

Love the Leopard as a total new guy with slow arm speed and little skill. It is predictable and controllable, even for me. For me, it runs head and head with the Latitude 64 Diamond.

And it's just my opinion, but DX (the cheaper plastic option) feels more grippy than the Star version that I also own. Go figure.

This was my first driver.  It is great for beginners especially because it is lightweight and DX.  I have stopped throwing my DX ones because of how flippy they are.  I still throw a Champion Leopard fairly often.  Great disc overall.  Highly recommend as a first disc and a step up in more expensive plastic.

As a noob with under a year of experience in the sport I would say it's the perfect disc for me. It feels like a great intro disc to keep you coming back. Probably why it's in the starter pack. With a poor form arm, a nose down flat throw will reward you with a nice straight flight that finishes left like every other disc (RHBH). As an experienced-noob, I am playing around with hammered hyzer flips with it and it's like a whole new disc. This little starter DX disc can move. I've been able to reach distances I've never reached before and they are lazerbeam straight with little to no fade at the end. I'm going to upgrade to a Leopard 3 in hopes of keeping the turn under control as I start to refine my form. I love this disc and would recommend it to anybody who has played less than 2 years. I think it gets outclassed by faster discs pretty easily as you get better at the sport. New players, grab this, a putter (classic plastic Judge), a mako3 and a teebird. You honestly won't need another disc for about a year.

I started with the innova starter pack that included this disc. I started out with it, and it gave me confidence by letting me throw straight with pretty bad form and fundamentals. As I got a little bit better I learned to control it as a turnover disc or a fan grip control driver. I love this disc, and while it may not stay in my bag anymore, I will always keep mine around.

The Leopard was one of my very first discs in the Innova starter pack, and I could not have had a better driver to start. When I first began playing, I had a much slower arm speed, so I was able to give the Leopard some good distance despite having bad form and low arm speed. As I gradually built up power, I started to think that the Leopard was no longer useful, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I still use the Leopard today for hyzer flips and big, sweeping anhyzer shots. It allows me to bend my shots to the right without having to throw a forehand, which is a very important thing for me.

Overall, I'd highly recommend the DX Leopard to new disc golf players, and I'd even recommend the Leopard in premium plastics for more experienced players. People with big arms can use this as a roller disc, but I really enjoy it for its unique flight in the air. It's no wonder why the Leopard is included in the Innova starter pack. It is an excellent disc.

The Leopard is a great first driver for straight shots off the tee or on the fairway.  It’s now my favorite, and more experienced players tell me they use it often, too.   Some beginners may be able to use it well as soon as they start in disc golf, but others with less throwing speed may need to work up to it with a little coaching and practice.

This was one of my very first discs when I first tried disc golf last year because a light (148 gram) Leopard was included in my Innova DX three-disc beginner set.  (I was 75 years old, recovering from years of chemotherapy.)  Unlike younger and stronger beginners, it took me a while to work up to throwing even this light-weight driver.   For weeks, neither I nor the fellow retiree who convinced me to buy it could throw it as far or as straight as the mid-range Shark (an OVERstable speed 4 disc) that was also included in the beginner set.  As a result, we both had to accept our discs fading off into the woods.  It was discouraging.  For us old-timers, even the light-weight Leopard had excessive fade despite the fact that it is an understable mold.  However, after working on our backhand technique for a while, it became our go-to disk for long, straight drives.

The Leopard just seems to have the right combination of speed, glide, turn and fade (as long as you find one that’s not too heavy for you) to help you get started.  After you learn to use it, it will probably be a favorite for many years.  Once you get the Leopard to go straight and far, you will be on your way to even more success and fun with disc golf.

    Great beginner disc!

Like many others, I have a lightweight DX Leopard that was easy to throw and watch glide. For a long time it was my farthest-flying disc (up to 275 feet).

Now that my arm speed is better, and the disc is getting beat in, it's been flipping over a lot. I occasionally use it for shorter turnover shots around 200 feet.

I have two used DX Leos, one at 148, one at 168. The heavier on is a joy to throw - you can burn a dead strait tunnel shot with a bit of hyzer, very nice. The lighter one can be controlled is dead-still cnditions, but a bit of wind turns it into a worm burning turnover machine. I think a new 165 Leo in good plastic would be a great disc to throw.

The leopard is known to be a beginner friendly disc with a lot of understability in its flight and its 6 speed it makes for a good starting fairway driver/mid range disc for a lot of people.  I own a leopard in Dx plastic which isnt premium but it has good feel after throwing it for a while.  The leopard is great for beginners because it will fight to stay flat at lower arm speeds.  For more experienced and faster arms, it will be a good option for hyzer flips and turn over shots.  It can even function as a roller disc with enough technique and power.  It offfers pretty easy distance for not a lot of effort when using it as a mid but it can be a bit flippy if thrown too hard.  Great for practicing speed control and form.

This disc is a classic. It was my first fairway driver and it is incredibly reliable. The -2 turn keeps it stable for beginners who tend to throw hyzer angles without knowing it. There is typically just enough fade, though, to keep the disc from flying too far right (RHBH) from the intended path. One thing I will say is that weight is definitely a factor in how this disc flies. I currently have 2 Leopard's in my bag at 165g and 171g. The heavier one tends to keep its turn for longer compared to the lighter one, so I would recommend getting a few to experiment with the weights. My only complaint would be that the DX plastic wears pretty easily, but as far as the Leopard goes, it's definitely a 5 star disc!

It's funny. Even though I've recently picked up several new discs to fill out my bag, I just can't bring myself to take out my Leopard. I definitely agree; this is the perfect beginner disc, and I still find ways to use my 15 year old DX. Just fits like a glove. So dependable. And for me, my Leopard out distances my Beast, Rival, and Dragon every time. So of course when my daughter asks for discs, I got her one too.

Got this in my starter pack when I first started. A fantastic beginner workhorse once you get your basic form down. After a while of use, a few trees, and my throw gaining power it got very flippy on me, so I only use it anymore for right-curving backhands and it likes to roll, though I haven't figured that out yet. Still keep it in my bag for curvy shots and if a friend is coming along for the first time to try disc golf out.

This paradigm starter pack fairway driver is an underrated performer in the world of disc golf. While it's a great disc for beginners in DX plastic, many experienced players may overlook its functionality for an advanced game. In DX plastic, it is a reliable hyzer-flip to turnover candidate. In more premium plastics such as Champion blends, it offers a surprising amount of stability with dependable fade. Sometimes as we advance in the sport we tend to look back at beginner discs as, "amateurish," when it can be a true disservice to overlook the practicality of the old standbys. Fancy doesn't always mean good, occasionally all you need is what you already have. The leopard does what it does well, and a leopard can't change its spots!

There is a reason why this disc is one of the first people should try when getting into disc golf.  It is one of the easiest discs to throw straight!  The Leopard is a little understable, which is why it produces such a straight flight from slower arms.  This disc is very forgiving, but is also responsive enough to help teach proper form and release.  I highly recommend this disc to anyone picking up the game and looking to refine their game.

There is relatively little to say here, but also little negative things to say here as well. I think Innova did well to include this disc in the Beginner pack, and did well to include a light weight as well. In my own opinion, this is the first driver everyone interested in Disc should throw. It's incredibly forgiving, and predictable. So forgiving and predictable one may even find it a bit boring. Actually, that's my only real gripe with it. For experienced players, it has the potential to be outgrown very quickly. That's okay, because a much heavier Leopard3 is an easy solution to someone looking for a step up, or two. I carefully considered whether or not that was worth removing a star, but that would be really stupid. It's absolutely great for what it needs to be, and that's worth all five stars to me.

PROS: Perfect beginner driver, familiar updgrades available.

CONS: Can be outgrown by more advanced players.

We own 4 Leopards: a 147g DX, a 171g DX, a 175g DX, and a 150g Star.  These are great beginner discs.  As you get more advanced, Leopard gets more and more understable.  I started out with a Leopard in my bag, but replaced it with Sidewinder as I improved my game.  My 10-year-old still has the Star Leopard in his bag.  I even recently asked to borrow it for a downhill right-hand turning path.  It worked great.  You just need to remember to not throw it too hard.  I like Innova plastics as long as it's a Pro or better.  I don't like their DX plastic (I prefer the base plastics from Dynamic Discs and Viking Discs).  Especially in DX plastic, therefore, Leopard is a great disc to have around to loan to friends.

I've only been playing about a month and I don't have any Ultimate experience, so take that into consideration. I've adopted a strong preference for RHFH (my drives are around 200-225 ft across most discs) but I just can't throw this disc RHFH. My throws are 100-150 ft with this disc, and it turns hard left, lifts into the sky, and never really fades before it drops. Conversely, I usually have decent success with my Champion Leopard 3, driving 225-250 ft with a predictable turn/fade pattern. Given my lack of experience, I'm not really sure if the plastic and speed difference should account for such a change in performance but I'm a bit at a loss. My RHBH drives don't suffer the same consistency issues. It throws about the same as the my other drivers while doing RHBH, granted I can only throw it about 150-180 ft.

I've messed around driving with a Champion Leopard 3, Champion Beast, Champion Starfire, Champion Firebird, DX Leopard, and Star Mystere, and I've had by far the most issues with this disc. The Leopard 3 and Beast have probably been the most consistent and best performers.

I assume my issues are stemming from my form so I don't want to be too harsh. But I'm a bit confused as to how this disc is typically touted as the go-to beginner driver when it seems to be a bit more punishing than others if you don't have great form.

the worst discs I've ever came across. I wouldn't even recommend this to a beginning player because it's so bad. It never does what I want it to do.  it is an overstable disc that doesn't fly over stable. It has a hard time flying through the air I'm always losing them because they don't ever fly the way I want them to.

The Innova Leopard should be every new player's first driver and a staple in the bag of any pro-level player. The Leopard's neutral flight is great for beginners to learn all of the basic shot shapes. Beginners will have success throwing straight shots, hyzers, and anhyzers with this disc.

From my personal experience, I love the Star Leopard because to me it has the flight of a mid range but gets the distance of a driver. It will sit nicely in the fairway without skipping too far away which makes it for tricky wooded shots.

It is very beginner friendly and is an deserves a spot in any bag.  It flies straight for someone with not to much power. I recommend a Star or Champion Leopard for someone who can really rip or is looking for distance. Whether you are just getting into disc golfing or have for quite some time I would recommend this disc.

The leopard is a disc that every disc golfer has tried at least once most likely from the starter pack. And I have to say this disc is not very good against the wind because it is understable. I have a DX and it has a decent feel for a backhand  and a forehand but the rim is a bit too small for my taste. If its a short hole Id recommend this disc but keep in mind the amount of turn and fade this disc has. Id say this disc can even be slower than some of my midranges. Good for beginners for disc golf but after you play for a bit I suggest getting other drivers as a better arsenal.

I got this disc with the Innova DX starter pack when I first started playing. This is a good disc for those learning the sport as its understable which means it doesn't take a lot of power to throw and it's pretty easy to be accurate with. The DX plastic beats in quickly so you won't get a true flight out of the disc for too long, hence why it's good for beginners who are just using it to learn to play.

A couple months ago I lost my leopard. The next week my brother found one on a course.I have thrown it ever since. It is the most beginner friendly disc you will ever throw.I love it for hyser flips. It is a very understable disc.It holds any line.Do not try to turn it over or it will roll for days.It definitely should be i n the innova starter pack.If you are a beginner you should try it.

This is by far the most beginner friendly driver I've ever thrown and the only disc in by bag I consider truly understable. To get a strait flight I have to put a lot of hizer on it and if I don't it turns and burns.

    Disc - DX Leopard

Feel - The leopard is very comfortable in the hand as it has a fairly narrow rim and is a good depth. This was one of my first discs and in DX plastic it is a great disc for those who are wanting to try out disc golf but do not want to spend a ton of money to get started.

Flight - This disc is a great disc for beginners and more advanced players alike. For beginners it will flip up and fly for them unlike many other discs. For advanced players it is great for tunnel shots and turnovers.

Overall - I enjoy throwing the leopard a lot but I am I bigger fan of the feel of lucid plastic so I bag a maverick in the same slot. It is a great beginner disc and is one of the discs I recommend to any new player.

There's a reason that 150 gram DX Leopards are included in the Innova starter packs -- they're great discs for beginners to throw.  They're at their best when they're brand new.  A newer DX Leopard will give a flight that pretty consistently lands on the fairway for a beginner.  If you have a slower arm and put the disc nose up or release it with hyzer, you won't really see any turn out of the disc, but its fade is small enough not to punish you too severely.  If you have a stronger arm, the disc will turn over a little, but the fade will be enough to give a nice S curve.  Where it can be problematic is if you have a lot of wrist roll, this disc will turn over and won't come back.

My 150 gram DX Leopard is one that I found in the woods without a name on it.  It already had a fair bit of wear on it.  It was a great disc for my wife and I as we were just beginning to learn the game.  As the disc has accumulated more wear and as my arm speed has grown, this disc has gotten much flipper and much harder to control.  When it was in its prime, it was a disc that you could throw at lots of different release angles.  Now I have to work hard not to get it to flip over too much.  Someday I'd love to pick up a heavier Leopard in more durable plastic, which should be able to handle more power and last a little longer.

A DX Leopard (and actually the whole Innova starter pack) is a great choice for true beginners.  But if you consider yourself anything beyond a true beginner, you'll probably want to pick up a Leopard in a premium plastic.  Either way, a Leopard is a great choice.

This is the definition of a beginner's control driver. The leopard is found in every Innova start pack I believe and it is in there for a very good reason. I was throwing this disc when I was very young and I could still get it to fly pretty straight. When I started playing again I found the leopard to fly super far and I was able to control it super well. I would be very surprised if a large group of disc golfers also started their disc golf journey throwing leopards. I have seen all types of players take advantage of the flight you can get out of a leopard. As an intermediate player, with about 350' of max distance I find that my old leopard is way to flippy. I can not put it on enough hyzer to get a good flight out of it, but I think with the more premium plastics you can get, you may find a useful disc in the leopard for almost all skill levels. I think every beginner that really wants to play disc golf needs to get or throw a leopard. It can help learn angles really well and it shows you how to throw more understable discs. It will help beginners develop good form rather than only throwing overstable discs on super hard turnover lines. The Leopard is a must get disc for any new player.

    Review for DX Leopard.

This disc is very understable unlike my Pro Leopard, which flies almost perfectly straight. I liked it when it was new, but after a few months of hard use it became very understable, so I bought one in the Pro plastic. My new one is awesome!

Buy this disc in a durable plastic and you will have an extremely straight flying disc!

This is my recommendation for beginners and players with slower arm speeds.

Review for DX plastic. This was first disc I got besides a starter pack and it's still in my bag. It's the disc i give to anyone who is new to disc golf. It will be super straight at first but after beating in and gaining experience, it will flip over great for turnover shots and woods shots. As a righthand dominant player, it is super useful for shots that need to go right. For experienced players, it will be overly flippy and just a roller.

The DX Leopard I'm reviewing was a 150 gram version I got from a starter pack. It is only for beginners and actually works great for those with not a lot of power or a natural hyzer release. When I first played the game, I could throw hyzers or slight anhyzers with it. But now all it does is turn over too much to even roll. I think this disc is a great disc to start out with because you know that when your normal throw with it does a massive turnover that meas you're ready for a heavier, more overstable and higher speed driver disc.

I got this disc back when I first started disc golf because I had heard it was great for beginners.  Maybe it works for some beginners, but just not for me.  I remember that whenever I tried to throw it it would turnover no matter what I did.  People have said I have a natural anhyzer release, I am not sure if this is a real thing or not, but it could make sense why it would turn over.  I was only 12 when I first got the leopard which was 162 grams, so it wasn't me throwing it to hard that led to turnovers.  I would still recommend this for beginners because almost every beginner I have seen has done a huge hyzer regardless of the discs stability.

My DX Leo (156g) was one of the first 'drivers' i picked up in the first few weeks when i started playing and really worked wonders in helping me get up to that 250ft-ish distance (which is all you really need on my local course).

A great disc for absolute beginners who are looking at getting a bit of distance while not having the form/arm to throw a distance driver. Getting it in the dx plastic is great too as it is inexpensive and doesn't feel like you are breaking the bank when you are just starting out.

The other advantage is that once it beats in (really doesn't take long..) you can start practicing rollers!

I would rate this as a 5 star for beginners, however only a 4 for me currently as the only one I throw has become way too flippy and doesn't really work for me anymore. However.. when I put it in the hands of my friends who have never played, they absolutely love it and are able to get some great throws with it

My first Ace disc and will forever be in my bag. The Leopard should be everyone's first Fairway Driver, good grip, predictable flight and reliable until it's too beat in and becomes too understable. If you're a beginner and don't have a Fairway Driver yet, get a Leopard. It'll be your favorite disc for a while.

A great understable fairway driveway from Innova. I have thrown champ, star, and DX versions of this disc and my favorite is DX. The champ and star both have some stability to them out of the box, but the DX is a hyzerflip machine right from the start. I use it on tight/wooded shots most of the time in the range of 325-375. Its also great for long anhyzers as well. Great disc for beginners to learn better form on.

This was initially one of the discs i could throw the furthest. because of the understability it was great for my early day tee shots. now its a little beat in and my arm speed is a bit better so i picked up a champion for understability and use the dx as a cut roller and flick roller.

A friend finally started playing and picked up one of Innova's starter packs that came with the Aviar, Shark and Leopard. Having been playing for longer I was comfortably throwing my Thunderbird, Firebird and Destroyer. The first few times I threw the leopard it flipped over hard into a roller. Mind you this was a low 160's gram disc. Seeing it fly better from a newer player perplexed me but after a few moments I sent it out on another throw with less power and a steeper hyzer and it worked well enough. Not a disc I would use often if at all. However for beginners I highly recommend it as a starting driver. It doesn't require perfect form or high speed and forgives shots that are too high with it's low fade.

The leopard was my first disc ever purchased and it is still in my bag today. I bag a DX-168 (so beat in I had to write leopard on it with a sharpie), DX-169 (normal amount of beat in), and a Star 171g (with no wear).

I use the super beat in one as a utility disc, tomahawk, thumbers, forehand and backhand rollers when in a tight spot. Its flippy-ness is reliable.

I use the one with average wear and tear for  stand still hyzer flip to flat tunnel shots and it carries straight to the basket every time with no fade at all.

I use the brand new star one for more powered throws from 250' to 300', travels straight for 90% of its flight and then has a slight fade.

Overall it is my go to disc on short courses and I used it to learn backhand technique and still use all 3 every time I play. Dependable disc for intermediate players and good for beginners to learn a perfectly straight backhand at low power.

This is the BEST beginner driver on the planet. If you are a beginner, BUY THIS DISC! It holds an exceptional line and is extremely easy to throw. My only regret is I didn't get one soon enough. By the time I got one, I was already out of the beginner stage and couldn't use it as well as I would have as a newbie. But, I still use it frequently and always have it in my bag for long midrange shots or shots I don't want to throw very hard. It is great for all levels, and for sure needs to be in every beginner's bag.

I have a 150 gram DX leopard which I got in my original starter pack over a year ago now. At first, it was just stable and would even go a little left. However, over time, it got more and more understable. Now, it is my go-to roller disc and the most understable thing in my bag for big annes. The DX plastic is a nice flippy choice out of the box and it breaks in quite quickly. If you throw this thing consistently, it will get more and more understable.

I did not like the leopard. I had it in DX plastic. It looked cool, the DX plastic always gets the cool designs, and mine was a lovely copper toned leopard stalking on a dark royal blue disc. That's about all I can say that I liked about it. I keep talking about it in the past tense because the disc now resides at the bottom of a pool of stagnant water probably infested with alligators. It's touted as "everyone's first driver" but I never got it to fly as far as my shark midrange. In frustration at how I couldn't throw anything further than my midrange, I ended up buying a Latitude 64 Diamond. The diamond was a slight bit lighter at 156, my leopard was 158, but the difference was night and day. The diamond was my first disc to consistently outfly my shark. The leopard was a failed experiment on my part, always veering to the right and never flying as far as my shark, and thus when I finally lost it, I didn't bother to retrieve it. That and, well, the alligators.

In DX, this is a great disc to start with. An opto diamond is probably the best stater BUT as you gain power and control, and this disc becomes unreasonably understable it becomes an amazing approach disc for when 1) you just gotta go left from a stand still and 2) upshot dogleg rights

Intermediate and advanced players will love the Champion version for control, flexibility, and sneaky distance.

When I first got the starter Leopard I made disliked it. After I learned to control it, (the Leopard was actually going to the left) I began to respect the Leopard. It flies dead straight with minimum fade. When thrown into wind it will turn right and not come back. Other than that I'm not really capable of turning this over. (Unless I stand perpendicular to the target and rip it. I do wish I knew how to do this more consistently) I have hit 250' (record) with the Leopard and am pretty consistent over 210'. Other discs may out distance this for a single throw, but no other disc I own out averages this. When I reach for a driver this is the one.

I bought a 150g Star Leopard but haven't broken it in enough to enjoy it.

The DX leopard just might be the best fairway driver ever made.  I know many would disagree with me, pointing to the Teebird or even the FD or River in the Leo's category, but this disc is perfect.

A brand new DX Leopard will be very stable or neutral in its flight.  As it is DX, it will start to season fairly quickly--in anywhere from 5 to 15 rounds--to a driver with a healthy, controllable turn and a gentle, reliable fade.  It will stay at that sweet spot for many rounds before starting to lose its fade.  Once the fade starts to go, it will quickly begin to turn more, and then it's life is almost done.  Depending on the courses you play, how often, and how accurate you are, its lifespan could be anywhere from 3 months to over a year.  But as it is affordable DX plastic, it is easily cycled.

One of the big knocks I see on this disc is that people claim their arms are too big for it.  I respectfully disagree with those people.  I don't have a monster arm, but I throw my DX leopards between 280 and 330 feet fairly comfortably.  Realistically, you shouldn't be throwing this disc for much more distance than that anyway.  If my target is any farther, I typically reach for something slightly faster or more stable.

The leopard is a disc that begs for clean form and FINESSE.  If you give it those, it gives you easy distance with an incredible number of shot shapes.  I believe many people who have issues with it flipping uncontrollably are likely throwing it too hard, throwing into significant wind, or possibly suffering from off-axis torque.

Anyone from a beginner to an experienced player can see fantastic results with the leopard, and the DX version is the only one that seems to consistently fly true to the flight numbers advertised.  (The others are also fantastic discs and compliment the DX one nicely.)  The DX also has fantastic grip and glide.

If you are having trouble hitting the 300' mark, I strongly suggest picking up one of these (and possibly a DX Teebird) and doing some field work with them.  The controllable distance doesn't get much easier or more fun.

I cannot say enough good things about this disc. I goes where I want it, how I want it, every time. For me, when I have a drive around 200' that needs a nice lay in, or in a tighter fairway drive, I grab my Leopard. That simple. Anything for me from around 90'+ to 200' is Leopard country at the courses I currently play. I probably use this disc the most out of my entire bag per course. I really like this disc as a beginner and plan to add a few more to my bag as time goes on.

I want to love the Leopard. If you are a part of the r/discgolf subreddit you know how much everyone loves their Leopards. I had to pick one up for myself to give it a shot. It is great for the first few throws, but as soon as it starts to wear in I just loose all control of it. They are a ton of fun to mess around with, though. And for people with slower arm speeds, I'd bet money that you this disc will get you that extra distance you're after. Be smarter than me, get a more premium plastic!

Unlike most people, I did not start out with a Leopard, and still have never owned one. I decided today to try out my wife's to see how it felt and how I liked the flight. Upon throwing the Leopard and some of the other beginner friendly discs out there, I have to give this a 3 star. It was a good disc, but not a great one.

The disc is super domey, so it loses some there as I don't like the feel of extremely domey discs, something about them just feels off and I don't like it. I also was not a fan of the rim on the Leopard, it is extremely narrow, not something that I necessarily cared for. The disc just didn't have the wow factor when compared to some of its competitors.

Overall, I think that the Leopard would still be a great starter disc for a lot of people, its a good disc to get in the Innova starter pack, but there are some better ones out there. The Latitude 64 Diamond is amazing, and the Legacy Mongoose is also a great disc, I would say one of the two would be a better choice than the Leopard.

I use my 163g DX Leopard for just about everything.  I can drive with it, upshot with it, and I even putt with it sometimes.  When I was just getting started, I was better with it than I was with my distance drivers.  I've since gotten better, but the Leopard always finds its way into my hand.  It'll throw a beautiful S from a RHBH, and is good off of the tee on holes that are around 250'.

I got my Innova Leopard DX (146g) as part of a disc golf starter set for beginners from my local Meijer grocery store just about a year ago.  This fairway driver served me decently when I was a straight-up noob without much disc golf experience, but the more I began to throw and the better my form got, the more I saw this disc wasn’t the best fit for my game.  What I didn’t like about my Leopard was how easily it would turn over and I would completely lose it to the right.  Even from a beginner standpoint, I treated this disc as a liability rather than an asset.  I was very pleased to discover heavier, more stable, and better discs for my game as my interest in the sport of disc golf grew.

Again, I will give my disclaimer, my review is written only for the disc that I mentioned:  an extremely light, base-model plastic fairway driver I got from a starter set.  I have no doubt there are heavier and better models of Leopards out there, I just haven’t thrown them, so I can’t speak to their performance.

The Innova Leopard is the ideal disc for any player, I began throwing leopards when i was new to the game and now i have progressed to throwing a leopard3 in its place. There is still a leopard in my bag for certain situations but the leopard3 is next to identical to the leopard. The leopard is versatile, controlable, and pinpoint accurate; anytime i need to throw a nice tight tunel shot or have to shape an accurate and consistent line i reach for my leopard or leopard3. This disc has consistent turn when thrown with power but i prefer to throw controlled anhyzer or hyzer flip shots with the leopard. Anytime im standing in the fairway and need to shape a line to the pin i reach for a leopard. This disc is great for any shot a beginner or amateur needs to throw and there will always be leopard(3)'s in my bag no matter how good i become. Every player new to the game should have a leopard in their bag in my oppinion. Only recommendation I can provide is dont go too light, the average player should be able to handle a disc weight of at least 150g

I love the LEOPARD!! I have one in gstar and several in dx plastic. The two plastics fly a little different. I think my gstar has a bit more fade, although it is pretty new and my dx discs are kind of broke in. I still love both the dx and the gstar. Just like many players the LEOPARD was one of my first discs and I still bag one today. It flies very strait and it is easy to throw, it doesn't require much arm speed or power to get it to perform. The LEOPARD is a disc that any level of player can benefit from, it is especially beginner friendly. If you are new to disc golf then one of your smartest disc buying decisions would be to get a LEOPARD, you won't regret it.

I own a dx 150g leopard and it is a must have. I know everyone says its a beginner diac but i disagree. Yes its easy to use for beginners but three years later i still find one in my bag. Thrown flat it has a beautiful turn with minimal fade at the end. But when hyzer flipped it kicks up straight and takes off like a rocket. If you have never tried a leopard you really are missing out!!

As an intermediate player, this cheap 150g DX Leopard of mine has a certain scenario I always throw it for. Any time I need a short gradual turn to the right approach off the tee or through tight woods (RHBH) I will go for this disc. Forget lightly throwing another disc forehand, I will just moderately throw this (often standing still) and watch as it turns to the right, hits the ground and skids (not skips) on that same line for another few feet. If I forget to give it a slight anhyzer yes it will fly to the right and then fade slightly back to the left, but I only pull this disc out if I plan on giving it a slight anhyzer so that it will go to the right, crash, and hopefully skid even closer to the hole or fairway I'm aiming for. Other than that I will throw this disc in tight woods if I need it to go right then left just a little bit through a tight line based on the locations of the trees in my way. This disc does have roller potential, but I don't use it for that. It is a great beginner disc, but as you progress it will become a disc used for certain scenarios like those I mentioned earlier.

The leapord is a great beginner driver. I have one dx leapord that I found on the course without a name or number on the disc. It still seemed pretty new, but after a few rounds i had it very beat up since it was dx plastic. At first the leapord had some turn but would always fade back right at the end of its flight. Once it was beat in, I could throw it with hyzer and it would instantly turn over and continue turning right for the whole flight. I think a champion leapord would be a great disc because it would hold the original stability for a long time.

I got one of these in a starter pack many years ago.  It was around 150 grams.  As a beginner with very rough backhand form it was my best backhand disc, but I eventually lost it in a lake.

When I returned to disc golf and started playing more avidly I bought another one (149 grams dx).  It worked well for me initially as a backhand disc, but as I increased my technique and power it became incredibly flippy for me.  I eventually relegated my leopard to being a loaner disc for beginners I play with, and it continues to work well for them despite being rather beat up.  I am sure I could have used a heavier leopard to good effect, but opted to go with a faster disc as an understable fairway driver to get more separation from my mids (speed 5 discs).

Loved this disc in my learning stages. It is a great disc but gets destroyed easily in the DX plastic.

This is a really straight flyer when thrown moderate to lightly. My girl friend owns about 3-4 leopards and has chained out two aces with a DX leopard. This disc is easily turned over as well and can be used for those right hand dog leg turns. Be cautious of DX plastic, the flight path will change as the disc becomes more broken in.

This is a fine fairway. So forgiving and the gentlist curve for a very straight shot over a decent distance. I love my Champ Dye Leopard. A great disc for beginners and intermediates alike.

I got my first DX Leopard in the starter pack (like everyone else) and it was the first disc I lost in the lake. Since then I got one in Champion plastic and have been using it for straight shots through the woods. Very straight, easy to throw disc. Best to get one in Champion plastic if you play courses with lots of trees. Good disc to learn line shaping with.

The Leopard was go-to disc when I was starting out. My friends were never big fans of it I always managed to get great distance and control out of it. I'm now taking my son to play and the first disc I bought him was a Leopard 150.

It might just be the weights that I have had, but I have never been able to get any of my three 150 class leopards to fly straight. Both fore and backhand, I have always had this turn over on me. Never had good luck with this one.

I bought this as a beginner disc and used it as my driver. Very consistent. More consistent than my throw.. hah. Mine is only 150g, so I dont use it much anymore.

One of the best teaching discs on the market. You can use it to learn those tough but essential finesse shots that give you a nice gradual turn. If you don't want Innova, try a Westside Warship. I have both and they throw about the same, but if I am throwing over water my DX Leopard is cheaper to replace if I ever lose it.

Just got a DX 169g Leopard and I couldn't figure this disc out at first. I kept trying to throw it as hard as I could with tons of hyzer and it would flip up but then continue to turn & burn into the ground. Finally today I decided I would try throwing this with hyzer at about 65-75% power and this thing flipped up and flew perfectly straight down the pipe with a tiny fade at the end. Love this disc now!

I've had 4 different Leopards at this point. Varying weights, but all DX... and I've found all of them on the course. The reason why? This disc has a mind of it's own, so people don't know where it went after they threw it. It just takes off in all sorts of wacky directions. I know that this is one of the most used discs, cherished by some of the best players in the sport, but it is not for me. Honestly, in order to get the support and reputation it has, the Leopard must be a phenomenal disc and you should give it a shot... but there's still a chance you could be like me and wonder how in the world it got so popular.

Got an old beat up dx leapord and i got to tell you.... wow. this disc is perfect for hyzerflips! the first hyzerflip throw with this disc landed within a foot of a 275 foot hole. This disc is not leaving my bag anytime soon, and i plan on getting more.

I have the cheap DX Leopard and it's ok for a wide open shot, somewhat unpredictable with its fade and doesn't like high power throws. Has about the same range as a Buzzz in my opinion, just not as predictable.

I love this disc. I've been playing for a few years but still consider myself a beginner. I get so much distance from this disc. This was one of my first discs, I think I got it in a combo starter pack. It has held up well. I rate this disc a 4 for a beginner. Flies easy and is pretty versatile.

This was on of my first discs I got dx plastic from a starter pack. After one summer it is now a roller after is hit several trees and a power box that took a massive chunk out. Very understable after some dents. If I loose mine i will most defiantly replace it with another dx.

awesome disc for begginers and has a nice skip on good throws, also serves as an awesome roller. i have this disc in DX and it weighs in at 150. was my first disc but now its my dad as i have gotten him into the sport. he gets awesome RHFH throws with amazing rolls! im terrible at throwing FH but when i do i use this disc because of the nice roll at the end. if your looking for a disc the can fix the mistake and roll or skip, this is the disc!

This is the driver I lend to my friends who have never played before. It serves as a very forgiving first driver. It is very easy to out play it. There are a lot of discs that fly much farther, but if you are looking at the Innova three pack, it is great for beginners.

I had a DX 150, and I think the lightweight was a problem for me. It never worked well, although eventually I did start to figure it out, it was only at short range that I could get it right, and my mid-ranges worked better for that.

One of the greatest discs ever. It is a must have for beginners and essentially is a great disc for more advance players as well. DX plastic Leopards can be beat in and used for hyzer-flips to max out distance, could be used as a long range roller, and is overall an amazing shot shaping disc. I love it (in every plastic mold I've tried) and will continue to use throughout the rest of my life.

What everyone's first driver should be. Unfortunately, beginners get all caught up in warp speed drivers. DX 150 for beginners. Champion max weight for intermediates and advanced tunnel, straight, anhyzer, and woods shots. Very controllable "get outta trouble" disc.

The Leopard makes a good straight flying fairway driver. It's not going to provide max distance, but it flys straight. Somedays I love the Leopard, other days I don't pull it out of my bag. It is definitely a good Frisbee golf disc for beginners.

In DX plastic the disc becomes flippy after minimal use (even at max weight). Champion plastic on the other hand is a whole different story. Stays stable with a nice fade except with headwinds. It's even been described as a baby Teebird at heavier weights (170+). Very workable and great introductory driver for those new to disc golf.
