By far the best putter I've found. I've used the warden, pure, dagger, mercy, marshal, omega, aviar, p2, and pilot. All those putters I've used extensively. The deputy shelved them all. Well, except the marshal in prime or classic as that's my headwind putter.
Now, all those other putters are great, but what makes the deputy the best, for me, is easy. In the circle or far away I feel confident with this putter. No longer do I need the pure for farther out putts. The pilot is a great disc but I'll break it down as to why this disc rules.
1. It's a speed 3. This means thou can putt from further away. The pilot is a 2 speed and often would hit bottom pole.
2. The depth of the disc is not really deep line a dagger for example or an aviar. Its a tad deeper than the pilot, but it hasn't hendered me.
3. The plastic types that dynamic have are by far the best, as in classic or prime. Not classic blend mind you as that will depend on the disc. Classic blend marshals tend to be bricks, classic blend warden though are amazing. Discmania p line plastic is just too hard, and dx well, to me it's nothing I'd ever use, especially here in Texas with the limestone. To each their own.
4. The understable aspect again means more distance you can putt with. It's become so much easier to hit 80 foot putts. I have nailed a 100+ putt with this disc even, but once so far lol. That -1.5 turn also means that RHBH anny putt is much easier to pull off.
5. I putt a combination putt off spin and push a "spush". It goes straight at the basket like how I like it. Easy to tune this disc in.
6. It doesn't, or hasn't I should say, roll like crazy if you hit the bogie bell say like the pilot does. Slower speed discs like that are more of a round wing tip or nose.
When you're in the circle or on the circles edge, keep it flat, nose up some. It'll go straight. When you're say 40 feet or so just give it a slight and I mean slight anny release and it'll flex just a tad but go rather straight. When you're 80' plus do a full on spin putt as if you're doing an upshot, but trying to make it, give it a hyzer release and it'll flatten out and go straight with very very minimal fade.
Paige is very lucky to have this disc in her arsenal and I can see why. Now putting is different from person to person. I can just say that I like to putt straight at the basket and I've connected more with this putter than anything I've ever used.
I'll list the negatives quick.
1. It's not a driving putter. I have released that disc in a tail wind with a major hyzer release and it'll still turn and burn. It doesn't do horrible but something more stable would work better if that's happening.
2. Prime and classic plastic is stiff, so that may not be your thing. What I can tell you is by using a hard plastic I get no wobbly vibration and get a clean smooth release all the time. In the heat it won't be gummy either. I used to only use soft like putters and ill never go back knowing what I know now.
3. Difficult to use in headwind, you can, by why make it hard on yourself, find an OS putter with 3 or less glide to prevent loft and it'll be easier.
4. Prime beats up easy. Then again so does dx, retro, hard, p line, etc. A gummy putter can take the hits of junk more but I garentee you that gummy putters suck in the heat. They get warped easier to. Do you know of any pros that use a real gummy putter? I sure don't.
Anyway, that's my opinion on this amazing putter that Paige and dynamic has given us. Thank you!!
