The Champion Leopard3 is a decent straight to slightly US fairway driver. It's best flights come on flat or slight hyzer angle throws that go straight for most of their flight then have a late small turn and fade. I have had a hard time finding the sweet spot for the disc to get that good flight though. It seems pretty sensitive to form, and most of the time when I dont hit it right it fades and dies much quicker than expected. No doubt this is a problem with my throwing consistency, and for that reason it makes a great teaching disc. I leave it at home when trying to score well though.

I started off with a DX leopard.  After playing for a while that disc could completely turn over into a roller.  Since this used to be my go to when I first started I thought the Leopard3 in Champ plastic may fly better for intermediate play.  This is holds true to the numbers for me. On RHBH disc will turn released with a bit of hyzer, but consistently fades back for me.  It may hold turn as it beats in but new flys close to the numbers for me.

Immediately out of the box this disc was very stable. It flew like a Teebird for the first round and I was really questioning my arm speed (and Innova's flight numbers). After the round I gave it about 3 skips across a parking lot and 3 taco folds (standard practice for breaking in a disc for me). The next day I gave it some good rips, flat, nose down and it flew perfectly in line with the flight numbers. Thrown on an uphill, 275' hole (plays more like 300') it was laser straight, almost snagging an ace. Overall, after a short break in period, this is a very workable disc. It glides for day, stays flat with a little hyzer or cruises right without bailing over when thrown flat.

Everything to love about the Leopard with a flatter top and shoulder! The Leopard3 is one of the most thrown discs in my bag since it's so workable. It's very similar to the FD/Hawkeye, with a touch less overstability. Because of this, I've found it to be a widely versatile disc. I throw it with a good bit of hyzer, hyzer flips, flat, anhyzers, etc and it works for it all.

Trusty disc. Sometimes will turn over slightly more than I'd like, but overall is a great straight-flying disc. Perfect for beginners-intermediate players. One of my favorite discs to throw!

I'm probably barely good enough to consider myself as intermediate but this is the best disc that I've purchased recently. Seems to pretty much always fly true with great glide. Only con is that it tends to turn over a little more than I would like on holes with a headwind, but overall it's a great and consistent disc.

Recently bought a couple champion leopard3's and they have been fantastic. They are a very nice and flat run, the plastic feels great, and they fly laser straight. Very easy to manipulate lines with and they fly surprisingly far. I have thrown about 375 feet with them on my best throws and I max out around 425. They have a nice and moderate glide though so they can handle a little wind. Highly recommend!

Summary: The recommended next step after the starter set DX Leopard.

Feel: The 3 top on the leopard makes it more comfortable after trying different discs and seeing what feels better. The top isn't flat by any means, but is lower enough to feel more comfortable while still being a relative to the starter Leopard. The bottom of the rim has a slight flare, not one large enough to be an uncomfortable difference from other discs.

Flight: Going to this after the lightweight DX Leopard, it's straighter than the numbers suggest, especially in the Champion plastic. It may stay that way for a while until the form gets better and you're able to throw farther. When you start to throw faster, then it'll start to stand up more and more as you progress.

    168g Champion (Clear/White)

Driving to about 335' - Not nearly as understable as expected out of the box. Flies like a seasoned teebird, very slight flip but holds the line without much left/right movement. Very nice for low panning hyzers than need a lot of horizontal movement. For beginners this disc will be quite stable, and will fight out with moderate fade on drives under 285'. I Reccomend this as a complement to the teebird for tailwind drives or whenever the teebird might have too much fade.

One of the first drivers I threw. It is a great disc to learn with, and even now 5 yrs down the road and averaging 400 ft drives it still finds a spot in the bag. It is very workable and a great turnover disc. Very glidey and it gets some great turn to the right (RHBH). A great disc to grow with.

Nice predictable disc.  Subtle turn to the right followed by subtle fade throwing RHBH.  Great for straight drives and not difficult to hyzer flip.  It's my go to driver.  Beginners may have a little difficulty getting the turn, but it flies well.

I believe this to be one of the best fairway drivers on the market. But there is only one reason as to why I give this disc a 4/5... Inconsistency. You really never know what kind of leopard3 you are going to get when you order one. I have gotten very domey, flat, or puddle-topped discs that greatly change the way this disc flies. Although, this can be seen as a good thing. Because of this I bag 3 differing plastic leopard3's that all do very different things. Overall, if you purchase one of these and do not like the exact way it flies but like how it feels, I would recommend trying a different run or plastic type. Do not give up on this disc!!!

I wasn't a huge fan of my leopard3 experience as I believe I got mine too early. I wasn't able to turn it over or even get it up to flat. I do believe it to be just as good of a disc to learn with as the original leopard. I got mine in champion as I like to keep my discs as long as possible, which may be part of why I didn't love it as I thought I would. Now with hindsight I would say that that was the right thing to do with how they stay consistent as long as possible, even when they start to beat in and fly differently.

    Disc: Innova Leopard3 Champion, 170g

Feel: I like the champion plastic, although I do prefer Star. Star feels just a bit grippier, and I feel more comfortable throwing it.

    Flight: Faster, less glidey Leopard.

Overall: I’m not a huge fan of this disc’s flight. I like the Leopard a bit more than the Leopard3. The only shot I’ve ever found myself reaching for a Leopard3 on is a hyzer flip, and even then, I don’t use it that much. I’d say this makes a good disc for a beginner, but not the best for someone with more arm speed. I'd rather throw a TL3 any day.

This is my first season out after a 20 year hiatus. So I'm very much a beginner and don't have a big arm.

Bought the Champion on a whim and glad I did. My hometown course has a 300' uphill where you have to drive a little to the right to avoid trees and I can consistently drop it in easy putting range.

Started with the Leopard, now I'm with the Leopard3.

For those who enjoy the Leopard, but want something more flat top, or those seeking a flat top, understable fairway driver, this is your disc. Understability isn't crazy out of the box, with my Star version flying incredibly straight, and my Champion version finishing with a consistent light hyzer just left of my straight line (RHBH) unless I really rip on it, in which case it turns out more before a soft fade. Understability really comes out in a headwind, when the turn flight number gets a boost.

Recommended to beginners or those looking to replace their DX Leopard with something a little bit faster and flatter.

This was the first control/fairway driver I purchased. I did not like it very much at first because I kept turning it over. Once it got broken in a little more and I started understanding how to throw it,between 50%-80% power, this thing is the straightest disc I've ever thrown.

This Disc is great for any player although I would say it is more popular for newer players. It was an easy upgrade for me after starting off with the Archangel as my primary under stable disc. The leopard3 provided me with more of a reliable flight. I like to keep atleast one of these discs in my bag at all times.

I hardly ever need to use this disc. But when I do it fits the bill and delivers every time. It requires a little more arm speed than I expected. But if I use 80% or higher power it will perform exactly as I need it to. But for slower shots I need to use something like a Nova XT.

I really love this disc, but I don't really need it on the courses near me... But I do always keep it in my bag... because as I said... when I need it, it delivers!

The leopard3 is a great fairway driver to compliment the teebird.  The leopard3 is a small step up from the leopard.  It is slightly faster and has lower glide, so it is more controllable.  I have the champion leopard3 and I can throw it straight out to about 300 feet with a nice s turn.  I prefer the leopard3 to the leopard because it perfectly compliments the more overstable teebird.  You can't go wrong with the leopard or leopard3.  Both are great beginner drivers.  They don't require tons of armspeed to throw correctly and teach good nose control better than putters or midranges.  Overall, more players should throw the leopard3 instead of throwing a destroyer the same distance, but less controllably.  Buy the leopard3 or leopard, they will make you a better player.

I really love this disc. It was recommended to me by a pro for my developing backhand (which is really quite poor but improving as I'm forehand dominant). I can get consistent throws with it with very little effort in the 200-250 foot range without much trouble at all (again I'm not good at backhand). For forehand it actually gives me a very straight flight with a slight turn to the left and then a slight fade back to what would be about straight away from where I threw. I end up using this for a lot of nice predictable backhand drives on these short par 3 courses, and also for utility forehands through trees. It's understable but it can still handle the torque of a decent flick, I highly reccomened it!

The Leopard3 in Champion plastic(my favorite Innova plastic) is a solid understable control driver to have in the bag. It is a 7 speed disc that requires more power than the normal Leopard. I purchased this after my Star Leopard became too beat in. This is a solid purchase and I am excited to continue using it.

I just received my yellow-green champ leopard3. I am used to a leopard and the under stability of it as a control/fairway driver.  This is not the case for this disc. I am capable of putting a destroyer or wraith out to 450 + on a good pull.  Out of the box this disc did not want to turn over at all.  I throw almost all my disc with hyzer. But surprisingly I could not get any flip.  I had to torque it over.  It isn't as fast as I wanted and champion has a little more dome shape compared to star.  I would recommend leopard over a leopard3 for beginners. I like the disc but it needs a beating to find the sweet spot.

I got this disc as I thought it  would improve my fairway game as a forehand and a backhand disc. My backhand throws are normally better than my forehands and every time I used this disc on a backhand it would never go the way I want to. At first i thought it was my form but then after trying the teebird, prodigy f5, and the firebird, that the disc was not a good fit. If you prefer a leopard like disc, just go for a leopard. There is no real need for this disc as there are many other discs that will do better on both throws such as the firebird. Even a DX firebird will do you plenty compared to this 15 dollar investment.

This was the first disc I ever bought and I'm so thankful that it was. Even though I've added more discs to my bag, I still find my champ leopard3(168g) to always be a good choice for most of my drives. It's simply easy to throw, without being too understable to where it feels hard to control. It can do hyzerflips, gentle S curves and longer turnover shots. I especially love throwing it low and very straight. Such a satisfying shot!

Champion 170g Great flyer out of the box. This is my go to disc off the tee for some curvy wooded holes or holes that have an early curve close to the tee, as I find this disc responds a bit sooner to my touch than other discs. It's got enough speed to get down the fairway and very glidey. Excellent disc for beginners and it can respond to very technical shots. A staple in my bag.

This disc is super satisfying to throw for some reason. Feels awesome in the hand, quite similar to the discmania FD but just a slightly slimmer feel, maybe a tad more of a bevel/lip along the inside edge of the rim. Champion plastic in my Leopard3 seems a bit grippier/gummier than other champion drivers I have so it gives me a lot of confidence, plus the clear green looks awesome! Flight numbers are pretty much right on. Mine is 167g and is surprisingly stable though. On a hard flat release thrown at 350-400 ft arm speed, don't expect a lot of turn. My favorite uses for this disc are big long anhyzers where it flexes back and lands flat, or tight lines around 300 ft. Probably a tad less stable than the FD but not by much. Very useful disc that I'll be hanging onto for awhile

To this day, I think that everyone's first driver should be a classic Leopard. The disc can be used for almost any shot and is still rather forgiving. Once you get some more power behind you, or if you are a big forehand guy like me, you should really consider switching to the Leopard3 for your main fairway driver. I can use this disc for almost any kind of shot and when I'm working on my form, I'm almost always using a Leopard3 to do it.

I really love this disc. I’ve only been playing for a short period of time but now that I’ve started to develop my form a little more, this disc works really well for me. I average it at about 310’ but have been able to get it to 350’ on a solid day. For me, this disc flies super straight and I know exactly where it’s gonna go when I let it rip. The only “downside” is that it only feels about 80% good in my hand (not super comfortable but not UNcomfortable either, just a little awkward). I was using a Latitude64 River before I bought the Leopard3 and I haven’t really picked up the River since! The River supposedly has a 7-rated Glide but I’m not so sure about that. This Leopard3 consistently gets more distance and flies better to me. I would say this disc is good for beginners who at least have somewhat solid form. If you can’t throw consistently flat and level, no driver is going to work for you in my opinion. Stick to putters and mids before focusing on any type of distance.

The Leopard is an old school mold that still has its uses. The rim is essentially a six speed rim. It's a little narrow if you throw power grip but pretty good if you have larger hands and you throw a control grip. Its signature turnover flight is an essential in any disc golfer's bag. It does not take much power at all to get this disc up to speed and it is essentially flies just like a slightly longer midrange. Nowadays though, there are other molds that are a little faster and feel better in the hands for power throwers and still get a nice turnover flight.

The Leopard3 is a neutral flying fairway driver. It has a bit of added stability and a bit more speed than a regular Leopard. I found the flight to be nice, I could throw some nice 70-80% power shots and have it fly nice a straight. If I powered up more, I really could throw some nice turnover shots. The one thing that I did not like was the shallowness of the rim in my hand. I had a hard time getting used to that. Other then that, this is a nice flyer for the fairway category.

I used to really like throwing the Leopard3 but once I threw a Discmania FD I was hooked. The leopard3 is a good disc but it's the feel that kills it for me. The rim is so shallow feeling. I just could never get a good clean release with it. For the times that I did get a good release the disc flew great. It pops up to flat, rides to the right and then finishes straight. The champion ones are more stable than you would think from the start. Other than the feel I have no complaints about the Leopard 3. If it works for you, keep using it. If you're like me and you're struggling with the release take a look at an FD.

If i am playing a course with just one disc this is going to be it!  If i am ever unsure on what I want to do on a shot I just grab this disc and throw it. This is easily the most versatile disc in my bad rollers, straight, LONG turnovers it does it all.  Being left hand I have to throw a ton of turnover shots, and this disc have taken so many strokes off my game!  Now I have only thrown it in champion plastic, and to be honest I don't know if I would ever even try another plastic for this disc.  I recommend it to everyone!!!

This disc BOMBS for a fairway driver! I cannot count on how many times I have thrown this disc with a tailwind and it land within feet of my distance drivers. The glide on the Leo3 is ridiculous. This is a leopard for those who want to see how the greatest fairway driver ever just got improved even more.

The Leopard3 comes in all the major plastic types, but I strongly recommend the champion plastic for this disc to take full advantage of the flatter top and smooth feel in the hand.

I use this for straight shots on wooded course, as well as a tailwind driver on more open holes.

The Leopard3 is one of the best discs that is on the market today. The flattened top and lowered glide are actual improvements to how the Leopard flies and does not diminish the flight. The Leopard's understability allows for the disc to get the glide that is needed as it does it slight turn before it finally fades out. A new Leopard3 is slightly stable and as it breaks in, the Leopard slowly beats in until it becomes a very understable disc. This is a great disc for beginners for the full life of the disc and is a great disc for advanced players for all straight to slight turn over shots. The Leopard is a great disc for players of all levels.

Easy, straight distance, or an assortment of flip shots for desired hyzer or anhyzer finishes. Leopard 3 is workhorse for fairway control and accuracy. I've not found a more controllable, neutral, driver and am always impressed with how much distance I can get with it. Incredible touch and reliable speed make Leopard 3 one of the staples in my bag.

I threw a Star Leopard for a long time but as my arm got stronger I began to turn them over and had to work harder to keep them stable than was worth it. Thankfully, when I switched to the Champ Leopard3 I was back in business. A beautiful, consistent stable flight and the ability to turn it over if you need to. I highly recommend this disc.

Picked up a 175g Champ Leopard3 in search of a straight to understable fairway driver. First impressions were good. Slightly less domey than a regular leopard, but the feel of the rim was the same and a familiar comfort.  I do have a slight bias seeing as my first disc was  a DX leopard 3 years ago and it does have a soft spot. Omto the flight.

The Leopard3 didn't take too long to figure out. A nice smooth controlled throw(RHBH, sorry no forehand) and this disc will take off. I was really surprised how far this thing glides considering the "3" series usually takes a bit off in that department. Throw it flat and I'd get a turn that never came back but would land flat. Put a little hyzer on it and watch it flip to flat with just a hind of turn but a nice fade finish.  Juice it up a bit with a hyzer release and it would have a super nice long controlled S curve.  I was really digging how many different lines I could consistently shape.

The negatives of this disc are few, but still present. Wind. With no wind this disc was a gem, very workable and consistent. A slight tailwind was workable but didn't do any favors.  Crosswind, eh I probably wouldn't trust it in league or a competition, but would still fly pretty far effortlessly(just add a touch more hyzer). Headwind? Don't even think about it, put it back in your bag and choose a different disc.

Overall I feel like the Leopard3 could be effectively used by a wide spectrum  of skill levels. Wether you're advanced and want that shot shaping touch fairway driver, or a newer player looking to add easy distance and learn how to throw.

    My rating: 7.5, 5.5, -2, 2

The Leopard3 is my go to for hyzer flips and straight shots. The Star plastic is great and once beat in, it'll hyzer flip and hole the line for a long time. I've got some of my most maximum distances with this disc with its high glide rating. Thrown flat this disc will do a slight turn to the right, hole it's line and then fade right at the end.

The Leopard3 was a disc I bought to fill the somewhat-understable spot in my fairway driver line-up. This disc is absolutely perfect for me. It will pop-up to flat with a bit of power- great for in-the-woods control shots. With a little more power, it will turn over, but not so hard that it turns into a roller. With enough height, this disc will go pretty far, i could push it out to 400 or so, but i was throwing pretty hard.

This disc is perfect for the woods. It is easy to throw a bit softer to improve accuracy and still get a good, flat shot. I love how workable this disc is because (at least in champion) it can be made to hold almost every right-moving line (thrown RHBH) and fade or land soft if needed.

Into a headwind, the disc does get a bit finicky. This is expected though because it is an understable disc. In a tailwind, this disc will stable up. I've found with about a 7 mph tailwind, it flies akin to a teebird.

Overall, a great disc for forehands and backhands, and especially great for playing in the woods.

This is a great disc that flies by the numbers.  I can get this disc to 350ft with minimal effort.  It glides for days.  I like to use it for low ceilings or tunnel shots.  Release this disc with speed at a slight hyzer and it flips to flat and flies straight with a dependable fade to the left for RHBH shots.  I'll occasionally use it for a roller to clear low ceilings or throw it flat with a lot of speed and watch it turn over.  It flies okay in light wind but is unreliable with a headwind over 10mph.

This disk has done me wonders,I used a 175g Champion Orange. I owned this disk for only a month and got my first Ace ever out of it. One of my favorite disks by far!

Got a Champion Leopard3, 167g, nice pink color making it easy to find.  It's not quite as flat as most of my "3" series discs (Roc3, Mako3, etc.).  It flies straight at first, then has a "late turn", where it starts drifiting right (RHBH throw) after that initial straight-flight period.

The Leopard3 is the first "3" series disc where the lesser glide is not a plus.  I wasn't getting quite the distance I would get with my Leopards (both of which are X-outs).  But the Leopard3 was very accurate.

If you like the Leopard, the Leopard3 might be a good disc for you to try.

Edited 5/20/18:  The Leopard3 has been upgraded to being a staple in my bag.

Profile: Thicker Leopard.  Fits the hand well with a thin rim.  Plastic makes a big difference.  My rating is for the champion plastic that I bag.

I have an up and down relationship with this disc. My favorite shot with it is a flex line, as it pulls out of the anhyzer each time.  The only way I get it to fly like the numbers is to throw it full power.  Then I see that it is understable with a reliable fade at the end. Any time I power it down it becomes stable and pretty straight.

    Comparison: FD, Beat in Rival

Final thoughts: I was hoping this disc flew more like the numbers but it is more stable for me. I have it in 2 plastics, the Star is very stable, I'm talking TeeBird/Rival stable. (8, 5, 0, 2)

This is the epitome of a power-down disc. You can throw it full power and really see the -2 turn or take some off of it and watch it fly dead straight with just a touch of fade at the end. Its not as touchy as the regular leopards when it comes to release angle, but I can still give it an anny line and just watch it touch down without fear of a cut-roll. Personally I am seeing a little bit more than a 1 fade in champion plastic (175g) havent tried it in any of the other plastics. Great step up from a regular leopard for that straight to understable slot in your bag!

I have been very excited to try this disc.  I randomly found a sweet Blue Proto stamped 175g JL Champ Leo3 at a local mall store (of all places) and HAD to pick it up!

-My current fairway drivers are: Patriot, F5, Teebird3 (from US to OS) I thought the Leo3 would be kinda taking over the spot of the Patriot.  That was not the case

*The Leopard3 still has a relatively thin rim.  It has just a slight dome.  The plastic was very firm.  Great feel in the hand.  I tested this out next to the Patriot (pinnacle 171g) and an F5 (400s 173g) -> The Leo3 was more HSS than the Patriot with less LSS than the Patriot as well. Compared to the F5 It was very close, but Leo3 was a touch slower, as well as having a slower angle change in the air (compared to both discs)

-I would give a flight rating of 6.5/4/-1/1.5  (<- this I feel is very accurate for the disc I threw)

-It flew much like a Buzzz that had a little more speed to it....really....it did.

-Slight hyzer release made this disc stand up and go straight, very straight, slight tail off to the right and then straight, then moderate hyzer finish.  Great for tunnelshots, slow anhyzers, smooth hyzers, and overall a controlled fairway shot.

-For full on power it did bend over understable and hold for a moderate anhyzer, but it wasn't a huge turn, more of a shift, as if your car was drifting on a little ice as you made a turn on the road.  Great for giving the disc an angle knowing it holds that specific angle very well.

-Not the fastest disc, not much (if any) faster than a regular leopard.  Not a disc that Hyzer-flips and turns over for an S shot.  It just holds the line/angle you give it, flies very straight from that point.  Like I said, it flew like my buzzz but faster.  Great concept.

**I still prefer the Patriot for US fairway, the Teebird3 is faster and more LSS (no comparison) and the F5 and TL I also use are very similar as in they all are straight fairway drivers.  My favorite of the 3 is probably the TL.  the Leo3 to me was a slightly slower, less finish fade than a TL (depending on speed, angle of release)

Nice disc, But Not something I'm going to buy many of.  :)

never a big fan of leopards. when i heard about the L3, i can't say anything nice about it. i hate leopards, but that is just me, which is why i give it 3 stars. i prefer the RIVER by LATITUDE 64 personally. it flies better, and is more reliable than any leopard.

The Leapord3 is a great fairway driver. It holds any line you put it on if thrown with some touch. If powered up a bit, it is a very accurate turnover disc but mine doesn't seem to turn and burn but rather fight back to a flat gentle landing.  Can even be controlled in moderate winds.

I have been waiting for this disc to release for a while. I love the leopard, but I am not a fan of the big dome on top. I had a feeling that someday Innova would release the flat top Leopard, and they finally did.

The L3 flies a lot like the Discmania FD. If you want a nice controllable hyzer-flip shot or a good turnover with a dependably low amount of fade, then this disc is what you're looking for. It is a great compliment to my slightly stable Teebird, and I anticipate the L3 might find it's way into my bag during the 2016 season.

I would not suggest the L3 to be used in windy conditions, although it may be nice in a tailwind. The turn of the disc just doesn't hold up well for stronger crosswinds or headwinds.

So I tried out a new champion Leopard3 weighing in at 175 grams. I recently have become a fan of the Disc Mania C-Line FD, and I have heard that the Leopard3 was similar, so I was excited to try one out. So far, I would say the comparison to the FD is very accurate. One of my first throws with the Leopard3 I threw RHBH with just a slight hyzer release. The disc flipped up and held straight just as I would expect my FD to. I think I might be able to get a little more distance out of the FD, but not much. In future rounds I hope to compare the two discs more and find the differences.

Overall, I would say this is a great disc for throwers who find the TeeBird to be just a little too overstable for what they are looking for. I wonder if the lighter weights would even be more flippy, so be aware of that when picking your's out. Overall I think Innova has filled a gap in their fairway driver line that I think a lot of players will love.

I was really excited about trying the Leopard3. Recently I lost my Latitude 64 River which I would use for perfectly straight line drives. With the projected flight ratings of the Leopard3, I thought this disc might fill in my vacant straight line moderate distance spot slot. I used to throw DX Leopards for this same type of shot, but that's old school, and Leopard3's are the hot new item.

First off, and to no fault of the Leopard3, I don't typically like Champion type plastic for backhand throws. I have grip issues and regularily accidentally release discs early if the plastic isn't grippier. I don't currently bag any drivers in Champion type plastic. Secondly, and also my bad in my disc selection was that I chose a 175g Leopard3. What I wanted was a flippy understable type disc, and the max weight didn't exactly help for the goal I'm trying to accomplish -- atleast new and right out of the box. This disc is substantially more overstable than what I was looking for, and I would give the brand new L3 a rating of 7/5/-1/2. For my backhand power I saw almost no turn out the Leopard at all. The only reason I do give it a negative turn rating is because it does flip up for me on Forehand Hyzer release shots.

Overall, I'm not able to get good distance out of the Leopard3, and I'm not able to keep this discs straight. Therefore, this discs has no purpose for me. Perhaps when the Leopard3 is available in Star or GStar plastic I'll have to try it again, and in a 160's weight. For disc golfers with more power it's probably a good straight line driver, but not for me and my mediocre arm.
