I've been playing for a year now and was looking to move up from my flippy Hades. I tried a handful of discs not realizing that what I wanted was a Destroyer. There is a reason everyone wants to recreate this discs flight - because its the best. It feels amazing in the hand. Brand new I was throwing it further than all of my other drivers. Don't buy a companies attempt to recreate the Destroyer, get a Destroyer. I don't want to throw anything else now.

I got the Eveliina Salonen world champ Swirled Star @ 170g. It turns more than I expected brand new but has reliable fade. Will be getting a few more in different plastics to see how they compare.

Specifically started throwing a 2020 Heimburg swirly star. This disc has a ton of power, minimal turn(certainly less than a typical destroyer), and an unreal finishing fade. I was hesitant to start thowing this disc until I developed a consistently flat release on my RHBH throws, as a primary sidearm thrower. It was well worth the wait.

Although I'm still not sold on the cheaper mold destoyers being a dependable cheaper mold distance driver, this bad boy is great for straight flights when thrown flat, with monstrously awesome skips at the end. Love the feel of Swirly Star plastic as well, as it feels as sturdy as champion plastic, but with more give.

The Swirly Star Ricky 2021 destroyers have much more speed and less glide than normal destroyers, which makes it (in my opinion) the best max distance forehand disc on the market. the look and feel is amazing. it feels perfect for the hand

Disc: Swirly Star Destroyer - 2020 Calvin Heimburg Tour Series - 175g

Feel: The Swirly Star plastic is softer than most runs of regular Star off the shelf for distance drivers. The dome on these is pretty consistent between the 3 I picked up with a nice heartbeat pop when pressed in.

Grip is great with Swirly Star plastic, and typical Destroyer comfort for me when throwing backhand. The versatility of the Destroyer as both a backhand and forehand distance driver is nice for keeping the molds to a minimum in the bag.

Nice swirls as well, with Pink & Green and Blue & Purple all coming through (saw some Orange ones as well). Stamp is pretty cool with the 'out of this world' space theme (plus a guy on a bicycle).

Flight: Swirly Star flight is closely aligned with the flight numbers for the Destroyer off the shelf which is a nice starting point for breaking in a distance driver. Usually drivers need a bit of time to gain glide (4->5) and soften the low speed fade (4->3) but some of the first throws with the Swirly Star outpaced most of the fairly new Star type plastic drivers I've been throwing recently.

With a good amount of power behind it, the Swirly Calvin Destroyer is a bomber distance driver with great glide and an ideal flight. I've been surprised how easy it is to get good distance and control in headwinds (generally backhand), ending up 15-30 ft past my typical landing zones and giving me looks for birdie on 450+ foot holes.

Impressions & Comparisons: More dome than the 1.9 & 1.10 Sirius Scorpius and S-line DD3 in near max weights. They feel pretty similar to the special Swirly S-Line DD, just a little more rim width and stability.

Swirly Star has a lot of good characteristics (grip, wear in period, glide off the shelf) but hasn't always had great swirls or colors. Seems Innova figured out something with this run with a lot more vibrant colors and made sure to get their weights under 175g, marking them on the back with a 173-5 making them more consistent. These may not be exactly what Calvin wanted but they are more approachable to the regular players who don't have his distance.

This Philo *DS is great. It flies like a seasoned star Destroyer out of the box. Some high speed turn, GREAT glide, and trusty fade. I have hyzer flipped it with success. RHFH shots go straight and far with gradual low speed fade. It turns over nicely for a long left to right RHBH throw. I gpt one and threw it. It performed in such a way that I bought two more. If you want to throw a destroyer but they tend to be too OS, grab a Philo and you'll be pleases.
