I'm a forehand player who refuses to throw backhand.  This disc is great for me since it allows me to throw forehands that go to the left like a normal backhand.  I've tried multiple different discs to fill this slot, this one is the most consistent for me.

This is one of the first discs I ever purchased, and it was a great decision. The Avenger SS is one of the best beginner discs out there, in my opinion. I was discouraged when I first got into disc golf because every disc would immediately dump to the left. This was the first disc that I could throw straight. This was also the first disc I got over 300 feet.

As a more advanced player, this is an excellent hyzer flip-to-turn disc, which can be a helpful shot in the woods. This is also a good roller disc.

My recommendation mainly goes out to beginners looking for their first distance driver. The Avenger SS will not disappoint.

Bought one at my local disc golf course right before playing a round. I originally wasn't planning on throwing it, or at least early in the game. But once on hole 3 I decided I would give it a shot from the teepad. Boy was I glad I did. I got 330 feet on my first throw ever with the disc. I'm even practically a beginner too. If I were good at putting it would have been an easy birdie. It was downhill albeit but we figured that if it hadn't been downhill (which was a slight downhill) it would be around 300 feet. Absolutely good use of my money. Extremely satified with it. At least two more times it gave me a beautiful shot throughout the rest of the game.

This is one of the best discs for when you are just getting to the point of beyond fairway drivers. I would highly recommend for anyone just learning a bit of touch to their throw.

This is EXACTLY what comes to mind when I think of a beginner driver: Fast, but not unfathomable to get up to speed. Glidey, but still penetrating with its flight. Very turnable, but not uncontrollable. This disc is my staple utility driver and go-to roller/ sky anhyzer disc. Additional life hack for those with touch forehands that want a right to left traveling shot but don't have the space for a backhand. Great disc for all skill levels!

I will always have a special place in my heart for the Avenger SS. The Z-Line Avenger SS was one of the first discs I ever purchased. I had no idea how to throw a disc back then, so I was frustrated that this disc seemed to do anything but go "super straight," which is what the "SS" stands for. However, once I corrected my backhand form, the Avenger SS was the first driver I could ever throw well.

At first, it would still fade pretty hard to the left. But as I built up my arm speed and beat in the plastic by hitting an insane amount of trees, I was able to get this disc to fly straighter for longer. Eventually, the disc started to turn right when I threw it.

Even now, after a year and a half, the Z-Line Avenger SS is a staple in my bag. It is quite understable now, so I use it primarily as a roller or backhand turnover disc. To use it as a backhand turnover disc, I have to release it on a steep hyzer. It will flip to flat almost immediately, and then gently glide to the right if thrown in a tailwind. I don't recommend throwing this disc in a headwind if you are a more advanced player.

Bottom line, this disc is perfect for beginners when they are ready to start experimenting with distance drivers. I would recommend this disc to be the first distance driver for any beginner.

I bought this disc to use for rollers and it is certainly great for that purpose, but I recently discovered that this disc will hyzer flip and go dead straight for 400 feet! I have a beat in saint pro that I currently use for long straight shots (it's basically a leopard3 at this point), but there are a couple wooded courses near me that require 375+ foot straight carries, so I will definitely be using this disc more often.

The disc is ok, but not great for beginners. It's more of a useful utility disc for experienced players. I have let several beginners throw this disc because I thought it would be great for them and nobody really liked it. They all prefer the Valkyrie, so I would suggest that over this if you are looking for a beginner disc

I got this disc hoping it would be as flat as the D-line plastic version I had seen my daughter given as a gift. I wanted it for forehands. Unfortunately, when I got it in the Z plastic, it was very domey and didn't fly nearly as understable as I was hoping for. I am giving this a low rating, but that's completely based upon unmet expectations. I am sure it's a great disc for someone, but it just didn't meet what I was looking for at the time.

One of the best distance drivers for beginners. I threw this regularly when starting out, but gave up on it because of its understability as I started to throw harder. After a while, I tried it out again and realized that it is an extremely versatile disc that deserved a place in my bag. When I want to get a bit of distance without using full power and still get a straight flight, this is my go-to disc. Great for those 200 ft tunnel shots that you want to hold straight or turn slightly right (for RHBH). For more advanced players, it is probably too understable to use as a conventional driver, but is still useful as a roller disc and for hyzer flip shots.

I have two Avenger SS Z's. One is an older run that is pretty beat in. For me, it was the perfect starter distance driver. Consistent flight but understable, it really helped me add significant distance to my game and helped me get my mechanics down.

I also have a fresher, newer run Z that was way flippier and never got the same distance.

Rollers and turnovers shots are what this disc does. Weaker arms will probably love this disc as a distance driver, but for the stronger arms this is a great roller disc and turns over oh so well.

This disc is so useful at every level of play. For beginners, the avenger ss makes a great first distance driver. It's very understandable so beginner players can get a straighter flight path out of it. For a slightly more advanced player the avenger ss makes a great hyzer flip disc for big distance as well as long turnover shots that never really want to fade back. I use it for a lot of my open holes where I need long distance and the left side of the fairway (LHBH) is pretty safe.

My only real complaint is that I've never been able to get the consistency with the flip and turnovers that I can out of other discs such as the heat. That leaves me with a little less confidence as I have throwing other flippy drivers  but it's still a very solid disc.

I've had mixed feelings about this disc, at first it was way to under stable for me to control but now I've gotten more used to the speed and under stability that it is now one of my furthest flying discs I have to throw it on a huge hyzer and not too hard and it will just flip up and glide for forever.

Want to learn how to hyzerflip? Buy this disc. Plain and simple. Want to learn how to throw a roller, you can do that too. Just throw it flat? That's fine, you can throw it flat and watch it turn and turn and then come back. It really is magical. You also don't need a huge arm to really get this bad boy wayyy down the fairway. It requires some practice to release it the right way to make sure you don't find ob right, but when you do. It's GOLD!

Absolutely love this mold! I had an Avenger SS in ESP that I lost and recently replaced it with a Z, both 173g. Both plastics I tried had about the same amount of dome, which feels a bit less than the Heat. In fact, I really prefer the feel of this disc over the Heat. I have 350'-ish power (375 on a good day) and this disc is perfect for me for throwing shots that need to drift right. If I throw it flat it will usually finish right and if I throw it with hyzer it will fade back just a little bit at the end. The main 2 courses I play demand some long tee shots that drift right from the tee, so this is the disc I throw pretty much every time. If there's headwind, I disc up to something a bit more stable. I think it's very controllable and I love that it doesn't turn super hard unless you throw it very nose down and put some anny on it or just over power it. I think the numbers are accurate at 10/5/-3/1.

I have the Avenger SS in the Pro D plastic and have primarily used it as a roller disc.  Since I got mine preowned, I cant speak to how it flies brand new, but, as it beats in, the disc becomes an understable powerhouse making roller shots super easy.  For beginners with less arm speed, it will likely be a good option as a driver since it fights to stay flat, but more experienced players or faster arms will find this disc flipping on them.

Overall a solid beginner driver disc, and an easy experienced player roller disc.

For beginners, you'll see easy long flights thrown forehand or backhand.

For seasoned players, this is the perfect roller disc.

I cannot say enough good things about this disc. I play a lot of heavily wooded courses and the versatility of this disc is insane. I can throw this mid power on a slight anhy and get a reliable "S" flex around 2 sets of stubborn trees/bushes and other obstacles. Or i can throw this flat with max power and get a fairly straight soft fade drive through a narrow corridor. On a slight hyzer and 80% power i can get it to popup and fly straight.

This has been in my bag for the last few years and I don't see it changing anytime soon.

174 Z Orange,  The Z version may be more stable than others.

Neutral shaped rim with no bead is very comfortable and easy to grip.  Deeper than a driver, but still shallow enough to flick.  Domey top gives it great glide.

Easy, straight line distance.  Great first driver for beginners.  Can be flexed easily for more distance or turned over by the bigger arms for a long controlled anhyzer.   Will only turn into a roller if you want it to.  I use it when I have a left to right wind and need to flex it over some trees for max distance.  It will hold that line beautifully.

This could easily be the under stable fairway driver in your bag if you are intermediate to advanced.   Do not expect to use it for spike hyzers or headwind shots.

Avenger SS delivers as advertised.  Probably should have one in your bag.

I don't enjoy feeling like I have to throw super hard to get a distance driver to do what it needs to, so the Avenger SS is a great disc to throw with not too much effort and get the full flight of the disc. For me this disc is amazing. I can hyzer flip it and get it to go 350+ ft. Honestly, it feels more like a 10|5|-2|1 but that's probaby becuase I don't have the fastest arm speed. If you're a beginner this will still be a great understable disc.

I have really enjoyed throwing this disc. I think I came to it a little bit early before I was ready for it. I would suggest that if you are a newer player that you hold off on this kind of driver until you have found success with something like the Sting. When I throw this disc well, it does amaZing things but unless you have very strong arm speed you might find yourself sawing it off early left or trying to hard to manipulate the angle of the disc rather then getting its natural characteristics to come through.

If you are looking for a reliable disc as a beginner go with the sting. If you are looking for a reliable disc as an intermediate player, this is a great disc to throw on a flat line and trust its low speed stability to bring it back left.

For advanced players if you really crank on this disc, expect it travel far to the right before fading straight.

I have only thrown this disc in the Z-line plastic and other plastics might contribute other characteristics.

This is very comparable to a sidewinder. I would say that it flies a bit more true to it's intended design than a sidewinder which tend to be more stable than understable. The avengerSS will turn new and is very workable for turnovers and rollers early on. Very nice feel. For lower power level players this cold be used as a max distance driver.

The Avenger SS is one of the most utilized discs in discs in my bag and the disc I carry the most varieties off. I use a  X - Line 174 in the woods as my main turn over, straight flip over to roller disc. I max at about 330 on flat ground right now. If I want something to fly dead-straight in the woods, I throw this on insane hyzer. I carry 2 Z -lines. 1 in 174 and one 165. 174g Avenger SS are the most stable. I can throw this on a small amount of anhyzer and and get it to come back at the end. I like it at 174 because if you have an intermediate arm it has more stability. At 165g it reminds me of a Champion Valkyrie.

Ah man the avenger ss. One word to describe this disc...flippy. This is the disc I use when I want to throw a sidearm, but then I'm reminded that my sidearm game is weak. After I think about the sidearm line for a minute I usually pull the avenger ss out of the bag and throw the same shot but throw it backhand. I can throw this with some pop on a hyzer and it will flip all the way over and turn all the way to the ground. No fade.   Really great disc in the hands of a beginner.  Hate it because if there is any hint of a wind comes from the left to right will turn this thing into a roller even if the wind is mainly a tailwind.

I really, really wanted to like the Avenger SS, but the few I’ve thrown have left me wanting. I was looking for something that would flip up, glide and dip, but this disc just doesn’t handle a good amount of torque seemingly no matter how much hyzer you give it. It’s a cool disc and could make for a great beginner driver, but for a more experienced player I’d say go with a sidewinder as they seem to simply have a lot more integrity in their flight pattern. These fly more like a Westside Underworld for me, but even those will take a hyzer flip a lot more reliably.

I keep an Avenger SS in my bag for various reasons. When I need to have a short distance skip shot, low power hyzerflip, hyzerflip to turnover, vertical hyzerflip high shot. Spike hyzerflips, rollers (max distance) from a flat low drive, cut rollers (forehand), forehand distance straight soft fade. My forehand is weak in terms of speed but strong with form. This disc helps there a bit.

This disc is meant for people to use with solid form. It does not work well for power throwers that have no control. Finesse shots only. Good for lower speed casual player as well. There are pros and casual players using this disc for opposite reasons.

This disc type is crucial to a solid players game and I enjoy the Avenger ss for the role.

This replaced my Mamba as my mamba was too stable to be dependable at lower speeds or tailwinds. I haven't looked back.

I throw big boy drivers over 400' without a run up. If you can't throw a disc like this you need to practice. I have let this rip on a steep hyzer and it turned over while breaking 430' the distance right a boss/destroyer would fade left. Hope this helps.

Okay, so I understand that this disc is not exactly a pro favorite, nor a favorite on this site, but I absolutely love this disc! This is the straightest flying disc that I own when I throw RHFH. It took some getting used to because you need to release it very flat, so I would not consider it to be a beginner disc. I use it for tunnel shots or whenever I am wide open at about 200ft for drives or approach. For a max weight Elite Z distance driver, I have to say it makes for an awesome utility disc instead.

My avenger SS was in an ESP flex blend that I haven't seen in years and I threw it as my go to driver for my first few years playing, and then sold it to a friend after moving into some longer drivers. While I was new I had pretty low arm speed and had a hard time keeping a driver straight, but this disc helped me out a lot. It gives that "easy distance" for slower arms, is very controllable, and has a comfortable sized rim for all hand sizes. I wouldn't recommend this disc for anybody except beginners or possibly for an intermediate player looking for a long turnover or roller disc.

I was hoping the Avenger SS would be a great distance driver for me without the big fade at the end, but I just can't put any power into this without turning it over. I would say I only have intermediate power, but this disc doesn't fly the super straight (SS) that I was hoping for. It has a lot of turn.

This disc would likely be very good for a beginner with lower arm speed.

This was one of the first discs I ever threw that a friend let me have. Just starting with a slow arm speed it would stay straight and go a long ways for a beginner arm. I got one later on in the elite z plastic that was tie dye but by the time I had gotten it my form and everything was better and I just couldn’t throw it anymore. I’ve seen people say it would be a good roller disc but I never kept it long enough to find out. I’m giving it 4 stars as it’s a superb starter driver but once you get better form and power you will be moving on to other discs and other companies as well

If you like the Avenger, but are looking for a little less fade and stability at the end of the flight, the Avenger SS is going to be a disc you want to try. This feels similar to the regular Avenger in hand, but lacks that fade at the end of the flight. It will have some turn out of the box, making it a nice disc for flip up shots and anhyzers. I was also able to put this down on some really nice roller lines. Players lacking big power can get some added distance with this disc.

This disc glides so much farther than my other drivers with minimal effort. It also will hold just about any line you put it on (with the right power); it can turn over on you quickly if you throw it too hard and flat. Other than that, the Avenger SS is a very controllable disc that can be used for a variety of shots, especially straight shots and S-curves. It's a fun disc to watch glide.

I would recommend it to beginners who are getting more comfortable throwing and would like to further their distance a bit.

I have this disc in 168 g in Elite Z plastic. This is my go to drive for control and if I want it to go dead straight after a bit of curve and fade back.   I would say its one of the best discs for beginners and for people that want to be consistent.  I would recommend this disc to anyone whether you are a beginner or a pro.

This disc just stays straight all day!!  I throw it around 75% arm speed and it has a beautiful flight path.  Must have for 99.9% of players

The Avenger SS is one of my all time favorite drivers. I would imagine a huge arm will probably turn this over easily, but a smaller arm like mine is loving this disc.  Thrown flat it will go perfectly straight, or slightly right, then fade back slightly.  I find it has tremendous glide and I've thrown several of my longest drives ever with it.

I have tried it in various plastics (Z, Z lite and ProD) and they perform slightly different in each.  The Z is the most consistent, Z lite absolutely BOMBS with a tailwind and ProD is better for short drives.

I can't imagine not having one in my bag.

i recently re-bought this disc in elite z plastic because i lost the first one i had to a river, was also one that i began throwing from day one which is probably the reason why i liked it so much. now that i have been playing for a year i find i can at times put too much power in it. for less power and more controlled throw i find it flying how i remembered it. wooded areas and tight fairways is where i reach for this disc. either forehand or backhand i get excellent flight.

Great beginner disc for someone who has started to build their arm speed up.  Flys just like the rating, good for hyzer flips, long turnovers, but will flip and dive with too much power when thrown flat.  This disc when worn in becomes a bit too understable for its purpose and will only have limited use.  Discs with anything more than -2 turn without good fade to balance them out become only usable for hyzer flips and rollers after some time which is exactly what you find with the avenger ss.

Picked up an Avenger SS in Z-line plastic.  This disc flies well with the wind, does not require "crank down" power, and gets good distance on a hyzer-flip or s-curve throw.  However, it will flip over if thrown into the wind and if too much power/torque is applied to it.  As such, it's a great beginner/novice disc when ready for that speed of disc;  however, those with more power and experienced disc golfers might want something more stable, such as the Avenger itself.

The Avenger SS is a very good disc for tight straight shots and for beginners who want to over up to double digit speeds. It is a very forgiving disc, but it turns with relatively little snap and speed, and will eventually fade back. My friends who have 200' range love these discs.

I've used one in my bag for a while. 168g in Elite Z plastic. I recently picked up a max weight 175 Z as well, hoping it would fade more easily. The opposite has happened though, maybe it's domier because it turns and burns never to return. It also has poor glide, it makes me worry that there is some inconsistency with the mold, but it's probably me as Discraft is topnotch. I like my original SS for long anhyzer lines where I want just a touch of fade at the end. It's like a slightly less stable Beast. I'd imagine it's a flip machine in cheaper plastics which actually works for lower power folks.

A solid beginner disc that will likely teach the user plenty before they outgrow it as a go to driver. They'll still have a spot in my bag though for certain shots.

The Avenger SS was my very first "Distance Driver". When I was first getting used to the game It seemed like the most overstable thing I had ever thrown. As I progressed and my arm speed got faster it stopped being as predictable as it once was. Now the Avenger SS sits in my bag as a piece of nostalgic memorabilia simply due to my fast arm speed. As a disc for a begginer or intermediate with a slower arm speed, look no further. It performs well as a hyzer flip disc and will get you good amounts of distance with minimal effort. On a side note, the Elite Z plastic is bomb proof. It will stay true to flight ratings for a long long time.

I used to throw an Avenger SS, I had the same one in my bag for over a year! When I first started getting distance with my backhand drives, the Avenger SS taught me all about the workability of a disc. It taught me the basics of shot shaping, and when I got better I learned how to throw hyzerflips and rollers with the Avenger SS. I definitely recommend this disc as an introduction to distance drivers.

It does have a fairly wide diameter for a driver (21.4 cm), which gives it a unique feel among drivers.

This was my first maximum distance driver I picked up once I actually figured out what I was doing. For a beginner, it's easy to get up to speed and doesn't throw too many "meat hooks" when thrown correctly. Under a more intermediate to advanced player's hands, it fits the bill nicely when you don't need huge amounts of power or spin.

(RHBH - right handed back hand thrower)

Here's my experience with the Avenger SS.  My brother has one in ESP plastic, worn in nicely, and it serves as a great hyzer flip disc for him, highly controllable on powered down throws.

Mine is in Elite Z and flies a lot different.  It's more stable, where if I throw it fairly hard, it'll flip over and drift right a ways before always coming back fairly firmly to the left.  It's a good way to get some extra distance if you don't have a real big arm.  I wouldn't really use it to try to finish right though.  That Z plastic just likes to end up left in the end.

The Avenger SS is an excellent beginner disc.  When my friends are just starting out, this is often the disc I will use to get them started.  It's understable and not super fast, so it can help correct errors in flight and get them more distance to start out.

For me, it doesn't quite do what I want it to do and takes a lot of touch to keep it from rolling, so I would generally go with a different driver for myself.  But it is still an excellent disc for beginners.

If you start playing and learn backhand first, the flick shot seems to be very difficult. Those who learn to flick first makeit look so easy. Well the Avenger SS is the answer to all your problems. Learn to use your forehand with ease with this disc. Within a week of practice the forehand shot is now part of my game.

I've had this disc for about a year and it's been absolutely amazing.  I have weaker arm and I can't through too far but this disc is still a great understable disc for every skill level of disc golf.  Not to mention, I love how flat the disc is.  This disc is a most have if you want a disc that will hold lines and stay durable for a long time.

Great disc for a full power throw. Will hold different lines all depending on how you release it. The only thing I don't like about the disc is the way it powers down. Slower arms and slow releases will find that the disc seems to make your bad releases worse in the finish of the flight. I just feel there are better discs that fly the same way and don't make you pay so much for a bad release.

I purchased an Avenger SS in Z plastic on a whim a couple years back. It was the first discraft disc I had owned. After toying with it for a few rounds, I found my groove with it. I've been a sidearm thrower from day one and this disc unlocked distance for me. Typically my best throw would be around 250 feet (at a 1 year experience level). Once I discovered how to throw this godsend, I was throwing 330 foot drives consistently. Before long, my drives got longer an longer. My collection grew and I lost my Avenger SS and never found it. I'd definitely recommend this disc to anyone looking for reliability and consistency. Raise the wing for a subtle anheuser and a strong snap and watch this baby sail.

The Avenger SS is a high speed understable, low speed overstable driver. Somewhere around a long fairway or short distance driver, it flies fairly similar to a Valkyrie. This disc is great for shaping lines, as it can be used for slight hyzerflips, turnovers, S curves, or long shallow hyzers. I was never a fan of this disc for spike hyzers, but I've seen that done too. The versitility of this disc is it's greatest strength. It allows you to do a lot, and therefore is a very useful disc.

Avenger SS will have a place in my bag forever. I normally buy 164-168 gm disc in esp or elite z of all discraft discs. Avenger SS is a great disc for beginner as well as intermediate players. when brand new, it will give you moderate turnover shots, after couple of weeks of wear you will see a good turnover shots. You can throw this disc upto 400 ft and it will not have a problem in open field. For short turnover shots in woods (200 to 300 ft), this disc is a meat hook. When it is really beat up (say for > 5 months old) it will give you a good anhyzer shots and rollers. This is a great disc folks.

I have a 176 Cryztal Avenger SS. I'm in love with this disc. I usually throw it on a hard hyzer release and it flips up flat and glides for days. If thrown easy and flat, this disc has a long and beautiful S curve that is really cool to watch. I recommend this driver to anyone, even experienced players.

This was one of the first discs I owned when I started playing disc golf regularly. It is a fantastic high speed driver. For those learning to play, this should be your first maximum distance driver! It will forgive errors and help you get a little extra distance. I still have one in my bag when I need anhyzer around obstacles, but still need a lot of distance. When thrown flat and straight it will give a nice S-curve (fade to the right, then hook back to the left) which gives the disc some extra distance.
