The Discmania line-up gets a much-anticipated addition in the form of a beefy fairway driver. The newcomer is called the FD3 and it is targeted to everyone who can appreciate an overstable driver that's trustworthy in all conditions. The FD3 features a flat profile and a very comfortable rim.

Despite being very close to the Power Driver (PD) in terms of flight ratings, the FD3 offers a noticeably more overstable flight pattern. This disc can be used for everything from touch sidearms that get you out of trouble to full power drives off the tee. You can rely on the FD3's long but powerful and forward-penetrating fade.

I ordered a Solar Flare 2 on a bit of a whim cuz of how stunning the disc looked. I usually throw an old 12x Champ Firebird for this slot, so I was of course hoping this disc would have a comparable flight. I can confidently say now that it is indeed very like that disc, perhaps a tad more glide but just as OS and torque resistant. On flat forehand drives I can put as much power as I can muster into the throw and expect the disc to fly straight as an arrow for 75 or so percent of the flight before it begins a pronounced and dumpy fade, usually ending with a healthy skip. On anny flexes it reliably fights out of the anhyzer release and lands more straight with less skip. It holds hyzer lines with ease and laughs at headwinds and sidewinds. It has all the reliability one could want out of that beefy fairway slot. Like I mentioned up top, it has maybe a tad more glide than my Champ Firebird, though its a nominal difference, netting generally less than 10 feet more distance on the same throws. Its quite flat and very comfortable in the hand. So frankly, this disc for me is just a fancier Firebird, but its fanciness is stunning to look at, and everybody knows pretty discs fly better.

I bought this disc cause it looked magnificantly suave, and it just so happens to fly magnificantly suave too! It's a disc I feel comfortable throwing on both forehands and backhands, because it's very straight for an fd3, because it has a fairly low parting line. The plastic is so cool, Alden Harris is also quite majestic, and it also glows orange! (I got a pink one)
