Everyone said the leopard should be my first driver, and that's exactly what it was. Started with the Pro, then picked up the Star because I thought a different plastic would fix my issues with the disc. Neither disc ever felt comfortable in the hand, the Star was overstable and wouldn't turn, the Pro was flippy and I usually turned it over too much. Gave up on the mold entirely. Then I got a super flat champion leopard in the trash panda box that flies dead straight, no turn no fade, and it's my staple woods golf fairway. Innova may never figure out how to make its manufacturing more consistent, but then I never would've found my perfect leopard.

This review is for a champion plastic leopard. In my experience, any disc in champion is stable regardless of numbers. I bought this for my wife a few years back hoping to give her a usable driver in a quality plastic. Neither of us can put any turn on this thing, and for her it doesn't go far before spiking into the ground. If you're a beginner, I'd recommend buying base plastic discs (or other manufacturers who are maybe more true to the numbers).

Great disc for beginners. That said, I took it out of the bag pretty early on when I first got into DG. I prefer to throw a stable to understable mid with a little more power as I found my Leopard to not be as reliable, especially when windy. I do bag a Leopard3 for shots that are a little longer.

This is the most beginner friendly disc on the market in my opinion. It is very understable so players of all arm speeds will be able to get it to fly straight. As a player with advanced arm speed, this disc taught me how to utilize spin correctly in my throw. With high arm speed, I can still use this disc as intended - a hyzer flip to straight/slight anhyzer. This is an amazing disc that I would recommend to anyone getting into the sport, or to players trying to learn correct form.

Great disc for RHBH where the disc needs to turn. Its slow enough most people should see turn out of it, but its not so flippy its a roller on every shot.

A great beginner disc and it will grow in nicely. I grabbed this is after my starter set and was pretty happy with it. I still bag it and will likely keep it for a while until its too beat in.

The Innova Leopard is the first disc I really fell in love with. From my very first DX one I got in my beginners pack it immediately became a go-to. Now it's still easily one of my most-used discs.

I've always thrown them at about 168g and in Champion plastic it flies dead straight with just the smallest amount of fade. If I really turn it over it doesn't go too far right. Easily one of the best fairway drivers for new players - and one that will always have a space in the bag of a more experienced player

The Leopard is a great beginner fairway driver. Mine in Champion plastic even has a bit of dome, and flies slightly overstable! A solid disc, no matter the experience level.

I carry leopard3 now because I like it very slightly better. However. The normal leopard is a great disc once you get it in premium plastic! Don't be discouraged by the DX light weight one that came in the starter pack.

If you are advanced, you probably outgrew this disc....

Except, when you are advanced you also rediscover discs for different uses. For most, this disc will overlap with a Buzzz or have a flight similar to a straight flying Roc.

    I'm advanced.

For me I have 2 uses:

    1) It's really a full-strength driver that does one thing... It flies the same every time. Same distance, same control, same.. same.... Very good for those short (but long) fairway drives when you need to park from 175' and do it consistently every time.

    2) As I've finally beat mine in, it's become a turnover driver in a shorter range. For me, it's my 2/3 Valkrie.

Having said that, I ALWAYS wrestle with the fact that a Buzzz overlaps maybe 75%, and that it's really a full-strength "Driver" (albeit short-range) more than a finesse disc like a roc.

Suggestion: Get a Leopard 1-2g lighter than your standard weight to improve control.

This disc is what got me into disc golf. I had a lot of fun times using this disc. The best way to describe it is "simple" yet "fun" to use. Its the perfect disc to work on developing your strength and overall understanding of disc flight paths. I will still use this disc on shorter fairways that require more conservative play style. If you're a beginner I would highly recommend getting this disc and experiment with it. This disc will help you understand your throwing tendencies and preferences and it will help you take the next step in finding more advanced discs that will help you achieve greater distances and better accuracy.

I'll start by saying that in Champion plastic, this disc is not understable. It's legitimately overstable. Scratch that -2 turn off and write a big fat ole goose egg.

Having said that, it's still an amazing disc, great for low ceiling shots or when you need something that fits in right between your midrange and fairway drivers. Longer than a mid, shorter than a speed 7.

I've beaten in my champ leopard a bit and am starting to see some of that turn, which I'd rate at about -1 after quite a bit of throwing.

I got my wife a 160g's champ leopard as a better option than a dx beast. This helped add some distance with the low fade since she threw nose up high hyzers. The champion plastic held up very well to trees and rocks that she hit frequently and after 5 years it still only had some scrapes.

For me this disc was a great glidy disc. Adding power caused it to flip easily and hold the anhyzer line but was never far enough to be in risk of catching edge since it was a slow turn even at low heights. Sidearm worked well as it could take a bit of hyzer and quickly flip over for a straight flight overall.

My second disc and my first non-DX disc was a champion Leopard in the 170g's and it was a useful tool in my bag. As a beginner I threw nose up and this disc was a good speed to allow for some distance while the understable-stabe flight allowed the disc to not fade out instantly like drivers. As I learned better form it became a very straight disc with minimal fade. Once I got good form I could see a good turn that gave it glid and the small fade kept the disc from ever catching edge.

This disc worked for me as a half to three-forths speed straight shot or power it into a gliding turn to make those slight turns to the right.

I did loose this disc for a few months, with the weather exposure it became more flippy but still not excessive. A great disc for any bag.

Champion Leopard (175g) - I bought this disc as a compliment to my Star Leopard, however, I have found that it doesn't fit well in my hand as a forehand disc and it is more stable than its Star brother so doesn't really make sense to carry as it overlaps with a Star Teebird. I don't really carry it anymore. I know that a lot of people throw harder than me or prefer the grip of Champ plastic, so I would recommend it for them. I don't care for it as much.

I had a champion glow one that I loved. This is one that changes really dramatically from plastic to plastic. gstar and DX and pro are really understable, enough to be able to roll throwing flat. Star and champion are so overstable they are similar to a teebird. They can be used by anyone, and anyone can find one right for them.

Bought this Leopard in Champion plastic, 168 grams, based solely on the numbers, as I need a 6 speed disc with a good S-shape.  Turned out the be extremely disappointed with this disc, as it had virtually no turn (MAYBE 3 degrees from horizontal) into a light headwind.  To put this into perspective, I threw a 169 gram Ballista Pro Opto (14-4-0-3) back to back 9-10 times in the same session and the Ballista turned over far more than the Leopard.

You would think the disc manufacturers would change the flight numbers for each type of plastic, if the plastic impacts the flight characteristics this drastically.

This Leopard is going to serve as a food bowl for my puppy... and even that's giving this disc too much credit.  Maybe the dog can at least flip this disc over.

My first driver, good ol' DX plastic in a starter kit. This disc is very beginner-friendly in the DX plastic at about 140-150g. As your arm speed increases and you can force the disc to turn over hard right, I would highly recommend upgrading to about 170g in the champion plastic. Beautiful straight flight, flex lines, turnovers, this disc will do anything you want it to.

One of the very first distance drivers a beginner should have in the bag. I absolutely love my leopard and can probably get it out to 350 ft on a really nice drive. Still a very straight disc and can be thrown on whatever angle and the disc will hold the angle very nicely until finish. Has been a staple in my bag since I have started playing.

I recieved this disc as a gift when I started and I hated it.i have now been playing regularly for the last year and what a difference it makes. This is my go to for wooded shots and long, straight shots. Can turnover and has in the past turning into a roler when thrown hard. Just don't try to hard with this disc best advice I can give.

So far so good. Just got one in Champion plastic in what I thought was pink, but in fact is "clear" pink. Lol. The only plus side I can see is that I'll be more careful throwing it to hit my lines and stay within boundaries. Maybe I'll learn some restraint, rather than the ol' chuck it/go find it method. Hoping it will transform my woods game.

I spent a lot of time with some of the new fairway drivers like the river, FD, and a few others, but none of them really stuck in the bag for me so I decided to try the leopard since its one of the classics that a lot of people talk about, and I was pretty confused by it. Mine is a max weight domey champion leopard, and it was REALLY stable. It doesn't have a lot of fade, but I found myself having to but 80% power on it to turn. To me it flew like my slightly worn 170g star teebird, but with more glide, but I was hoping for something that I could work different angles of turn with. I tried a star leopard3 and it was just what I wanted. Not a bad disc, I just already had the slot filled in my bag.

personally i think champion is the best plastic for this disc but i started with a dx and it was good until it got broken in, the champion is a little harder to flip over and it doesnt have the tendency to want to dive and roll as much. although can absolutely still be used for those lines. This makes it able to handle a bit more arm speed and finish with a nice understable flight that the numbers depict very well.

This was the first disc I actually threw over 200ft, it was 171g in GStar.  I have since lost that disc and replaced with a 175g in Champion.  I really enjoy throwing this, although I tend to turn it over unless I put a hyzer on release.  Great for a first fairway driver.

This is deff a beginner disc but advanced players will love this disc for hyzerflips in the woods. You are starring at a 325ft tunnel shot, what do you throw? Something stable on a flex, tomahawk, seasoned teebird? No effortlessly put it down there with a leopard like no big deal. Seriously champion plastic, hyzerflip glide forever, land flat and slide into the pole. Best kept secret by big arms looking to save their power for those 400+ holes and effortlessly play in the woods. You're welcome, now buy this thing!.

I got a champion leopard, max weight, and it is one of the straightest flying discs in my bag. If you want a leopard that will fly straight, get it maz weight in champion plastic. If you're looking for fairway driver that will turn more or turn over, get a leopard in star or DX plastic, and in a lighter weight. This is a versatile disc, and will fly very far for only being a 6 speed.

This is one of the first Champion / premium plastics that I bought backa few years ago when I began playing. Within a few months it had been tossed to the side for newer plastics from other brands. It sat there for about a year before I pulled it back out and threw it in the bag. What in the world was I thinking, this disc can carve up a course. I can throw this with accuracy on an annie, flat, or hyzer to sculp so many shots. I can also get almost as much distance with this as some of my higher speed drivers. A very workable disc. Infact this is the only Innova currently in my bag.

Doesn't fly anything like a DX Leopard. My Champ leopard is 165g , and it is WAY more stable. In fact, it is more stable than several Champ plastic TL's that I have, and it is even more stable than a 150g Champ Teebird I have.

If you are used to a DX Leopard, the Champ is not gonna fly like you think it should.

In DX plastic it flies like the numbers claim, maybe even less stable with my 148g DX. Even with a good amount of hyzer it will flip up and give a "S" line. With a flat release it will power to the right (thrown RHBH) and sometimes fade back a bit, depending on how high you throw it. On a line drive shot (flat release), it will anhyzer all the way to the ground.

I was disappointed with my Champ Leopard , as it didn't fly anything like I was used to . Didn't stay in my bag for very long, although I did try to use it long enough to get some break in, it doesn't seem to have gotten any less stable.

The Champion Leopard!!! This is one of my favorite discs, still. Granted I'm throwing a flat, pearly pre-barry 166g leopard that flies unlike any other disc, I still love a regular champion Leopard. It is one of the best beginner discs out there, however I would say the Champion is the most stable version. I put a Leopard into the hands of a guy who had never played before, but was kinda a buff guy i knew would just crush a disc regardless of form. That first day he threw a couple shots around 350 and was maintaining a par to bogey score throughout the back 9! The Leopard can be the best beginner disc, even the Champion version. For those that aren't going to have raw power, I would suggest a DX or Pro Leopard for beginners. Overall the Leopard is the ultimate beginner disc, but can always be useful for amateurs and pros alike.

I love the leopard! I have a 168 champion and it is one the of the most versatile drivers in my bag. If you really rip it hard, it will hold a nice turnover. If you throw it with a little more "finesse" (softer), it will go dead strait. Really rip it on a hyzer line and it will flip up and ride dead strait with maybe a slight fade at the end. Throw it a little softeron a hyzer and it will hold it due to the great glide. This is my go-to tailwind/turnover driver. It's also very easy for beginners to get good distance with this disc. When I bring new players into the game, the first driver I put in their hand is alway a leopard. Great disc!!!!

The DX Leopard vs Champion Leopard. I think they do not match in their flight. I am so much disappointed with my recent purchase which is champion. To make it certain how beautiful dx leopard flight and truly holds the flight path mentioned in the chart, I bought the dx leopard today. I tested it with several throws; dx leopard consistently flew as the number shown on the disc. However, champion didn't hold the line as shown on the disc. The quintessential disc for beginners. There's not a disc I can recommend more than light (~150-160) Champion Leopard for beginners. The disc flies straight with moderate fade at the end, but once you learn the disc you can make nearly any shot with it. I prefer the Champion and Star plastics for the Leopard.
