The Discmania line-up gets a much-anticipated addition in the form of a beefy fairway driver. The newcomer is called the FD3 and it is targeted to everyone who can appreciate an overstable driver that's trustworthy in all conditions. The FD3 features a flat profile and a very comfortable rim.

Despite being very close to the Power Driver (PD) in terms of flight ratings, the FD3 offers a noticeably more overstable flight pattern. This disc can be used for everything from touch sidearms that get you out of trouble to full power drives off the tee. You can rely on the FD3's long but powerful and forward-penetrating fade.

I've thrown this disc in C-line and Glow C-line.

    C-line:

My C-line flew like a somewhat stable Thunderbird out of the box. It would hold straight for 100-110m with a minimal forward fade. In tougher headwinds it would even flip a little.

Thrown on an anhyzer it would carry the angle until the fade kicked in right at the end landing it pretty flat.

    Glow C-line:

Now this disc is something completely different, and that's why I'm giving this disc a 4/5. It would be more of a 4.5/5 in reality. The Glow C-line is more like the beefiest Firebird. I can barely get this flying 100m while i can get the C-line to around 125-130. It dumps hard to the left, like an OS PD2. I find it to be really useful for sidearms and in headwind.

    Conclution:

The FD3 is an awesome disc, but much like the other discs on the market, the flight characteristics vary from disc to disc and it depends a lot on the plastic as well. The 9/4/0/3 seem to be fair. I would say my C-line is 9/5/0/2 as this disc gets sneaky distance, while my Glow C-line is more like 9/3/0/4 mimicing a Firebird. I bag both.

The FD3 is one of my most thrown discs, especially in wooded courses.

    Disc: Glow C-Line FD3 - 175 grams

Feel: The Glow C-Line special blend is pretty grippy and stiff for this run of FD3. The FD3 mold is pretty flat and has a somewhat blunt, rounded edge.  The rim width and depth are comfortable for this fairway driver both backhand and forehand.

Flight:  The max weight Glow C-Line FD3 is very overstable, much more so than the C-Line version I have in the mid 160g range. Not really useful trying to throw the FD3 for distance because of the low glide and heavy fade that kicks in once it slows down. High speed flight is very straight and carries forward with a gradual fade. Will immediately begin to fade if the initial release speed is not high enough.

The utility of this disc in calm, low wind conditions and when keeping to the fairways is minimized. Covers a lot of utility shots such as anhyzer flex dump shots, low skipping fade shots, spike hyzers, approaches around obstacles, heavy headwind drives, covering forehand torque miscues, and dogleg left/right.

Impressions & Comparisons: Less sudden of a fade than the Innova Firebird with more distance potential than the Millennium EXP-X/L (7 speed). Discmania's original FD2 mold is a bit slower & shorter with a less comfortable grip and higher dome. The release speed requirement to maximize the utility makes this not a beginner friendly disc in the Glow C-Line blend at max weight.

Great utility and feel to the FD3. Situations where I usually throw it come up a couple times a round. Hopefully the Glow C-Line retains its stability and continues to serve me well as my utility fairway.
