This is the driver that I recommend to anyone that is beginning their disc golf journey. If you're inexperienced it is a great disc to get some easy distance. It's also a great disc for a hyzer flip to get a nice straight shot. If you're more experienced you can start using this for rollers (intentionally lol). Very versatile disc that I would recommend to have in your bag at any skill level.

For me this disc is a great roller disc, start it on a little bit of anhyzer with some power and let the disc do the rest, but if you are a beginner this would be a great disc to bomb because you would get a big s-curve out of the disc.

A finesse player's dream. I bag 2 sidewinders, one beat, one new. The beat-in one is perfect for hyzer flips and long turnovers, and tunnel shots up to about 375. The new one is what I always wished a Thunderbird would be. Less flip, long pushing hyzers, anything where the beat-in one won't handle the wind. These are a fantastic addition to my bag and I don't see them going anywhere.

The Sidewinder is my go to driver disc. I don't have tons of arm speed or strength, I'm a little stronger in throwing than average though. I'm also not a perfectly technical thrower which is why this disc is amazing. When released straight it has the most beautiful S curve flight you'll see out of any disc! So if you struggle with a lot of fade at the end no matter what the reason, THIS is the disc to correct that. If throwing backhand/righthand, it starts to the right and then nicely and gently comes back to the center for a straight shot down the fairway. I barely use any other driver!

I got a 175g champion sidewinder fairly early on in learning disc golf, it was the first disc I ever bought that want base plastic. It started out as very overstable for me, but as my armspeed and form improved I started being able to flip it up and throw it straight, or throw it flat and have it flex fully. With the high glide and low fade, it really is the perfect mold to teach beginner to intermediate players how to throw far and let the disc do the work. I threw it both forehand and backhand until it wore in too much over the years, but it still makes it back in the bag on long courses for a reliable roller.

The champion sidewinder has been my new go to for forehands. I'm a beginner and a backhand dominant player so having a decent forehand disc is everything for my game. The flight is very neutral with enough understability to go straight with minimal fade. Great for big hyzer and anhyzer shots. Basically a great all around driver. Not the #1 distance driver for backhands but it's serviceable. Highly recommend for new players looking to up there forehand game.

A good disc in my bag. Use it for rollers and higher turnover shots. Can't put too much power on it or else it will just turn into a roller. A good utility disc that I recommend people to have, I also use it for hyzer-flip ups which work well with this disc. Beginners would like this disc as it gives them sneaky distance

I have owned half a dozen Sidewinders in GStar, Star and Champion plastics.  As others have stated, this is a very beginner friendly disc.  At my local course there is a slightly down hill wooded hole, about 250', with a fairway that bends right, then back left, finishing straight and about 20 feet offset to the right, relative to tee pad.  The elevation drop is around 15', and the bend in the fairway is about 60' from the pin, so rather late in the flight.  The Sidewinder is the perfect fit.  My 163g GStar, (before becoming too beat in), would be parked with a flat release, bending magnificently down the fairway.  This hole and this disc has taught me the difference in flight characteristics between plastics, weights and wears, as I have had the perfect dialed shot line and disc to use as a datum.

GStar is by far the most understable plastic, especially when beat in.  Following is Star, then finally the most overstable is Champion.  I'd recommend a low 160's gram disc for beginners, and anyone looking for a nice flippy version close to the flight numbers listed for long flexes.  I find the heavier Star and Champions to be significantly more overstable.  The same shot on that hole normally thrown flat with my 163g GStar requires a 5 degree anhyzer release with the heavier and more overstable versions like my 175g Star.  My light GStar eventually became too flippy and unreliable, that shot eventually required 5-10 degree hyzer flip release to produce the same line.

The moral of the story is, if you're looking to throw a specific flight line and are close but you can't quite grasp it, it may not require a different disc mold, it may just be a change of weight, plastic, or perhaps a less or more worn version of the mold you're already comfortable with.

My my all around best driver. Straight for me if I put a little hyzer on it. I can throw this as far as my 162 gram Wraith. Great wooded disc. I carry a 159 gram DX and 170 gram for different shots or courses.
Very workable disc that can be manipulated with  some finesse to take lines that can't be done with other discs. The champion blend is far more over stable than the DX. So I would rate any plastic other than G Star and DX to be not beginner friendly especially if it's 170 grams plus. Great Disc!

This disc is by far my most reliable for sidearm drives.  I am a backhand dominant player, but am working on sidearm for drives that really favor the right side fade.   I feel like mine does not have a -3 turn, maybe a -1.5.  It has an 'S' shape to almost every drive, but it has plenty of stability in champion plastic so I don't worry about this turning and burning.  Great disc, would recommend for players getting into intermediate stage.

This disc is one of my favorites it is pretty much a staple in my bag. It pretty much just whatever I wanted to do and I have loved throwing it in the wind because it's Stables out. I was pretty sad the day I threw it in the water but I fortunately got it back and I throw it on every hole. If there is a strong headwind I strongly recommend this disk because it will by far exceed your expectations.

I've had 3 different plastics of this disc. All in all I wanted to love it because of the flight path and description from Infinite. I'll say that for sure those both added up to what I experienced from the disc, pretty dead on. If you are looking for a good fairway driver for turn shots I think this will be a good disc for you. I don't think I could control my power to get it to fade back for me the way I wanted it to though. I think its a great disc but I just couldn't justify its time in my bag because it didn't fill any gaps for me in my lineup.

The Sidewinder is an awesome beginner disc.  It is so understable that it s bends easily with little power.  I have a love/hate relationship with the disc.  When I was learning to throw further it helped support my poor form and lack of snap.  Now when I throw the disc, I cannot keep it from turning over.  It frustrates me every time as it only wants to break right.  I have now chosen to embrace this and am using it as a roller.  I would recommend this disc to anyone, but how you use it is up to you!

Easy distance for starting players. The Sidewinder in Champion plastic is an incredible choice to grow your game. After building skill throwing putters and midranges, adding a Sidewinder will net a strong beginner considerable distance right out of the box. It is just so versatile. Released flat, this disc will give a starting player a nice turn before reliably fading back. As a player powers up and improves throwing form, it becomes an incredible tool for hyzerflips and anhyzer rollers.

The Champion plastic negates a lot of the turn you see on a DX or Gstar Sidewinder. For less powerful throwers, the flippier plastics may be preferable to get an easy turn. However, the longevity (both in terms of durability and usefulness to the player) of Champion makes it the ideal plastic for a Sidewinder belonging to a developing player. This was my first distance driver, and it is still in my bag.

Anyone getting into higher-speed drivers should pick up a Champion Sidewinder or a Champion Mamba for big distance gains. Innova nailed it with these understable molds!

I have a 174g Star Sidewinder and it has quickly become one of my favorite utility discs. I throw this mostly for rollers and high anhyzers, but it can fly dead straight if thrown with slightly less power.

It will hold an anhyzer line unlike anything else in my bag, for that reason it takes a bit of touch to not flip it too much when trying for a straight air shot. That being said I love it for any right turning shot that I don't trust my forehand power to get there. I'm still learning how to throw a good roller, but this disc will roll with a moderate amount of angle.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a nice distance disc that doesn't require too much power and as you progress a good roller.

Overall I'm a pretty big fan of this disc, although I've started to replace mine with some other options. Gotta make sure you keep it flat or on a slight hyzer so it doesn't roll over on you, but release it on that slight hyzer and it will flatten out nicely, turn a bit, and gently fade out. I'm able to get similar distance from this as several of my higher speed discs.

This disc is a great beginner driver, I used to bag one and use it forehand and backhand. Once you get a little better and outgrow this disc due to arm speed you can still use it for rollers. I believe Nate Sexton bags or has in the past bagged a Sidewinder for rollers. Unfortunately my roller isn't the best yet so it may be a bit until this disc is back in my bag.

This distance eating disc closely resembles the Heat (Discraft), but because of lower glide and greater accuracy, I often use it for shorter fairway drives. It is very similar to the Roadrunner.

I actually found this disc a week ago, and since it didn't have a name on it, I've been playing with it to try it out. Like all Champion discs, it is more stable than the numbers suggest. I was hoping this would be a good disc for backhand rollers, but it doesn't turn over for me as easily as you would think, especially at a 9 speed. I can definitely make use of the disc for various things, but it just didn't serve the purpose I was hoping it would.

At first I wasn’t sold on how good this disc was.  The flight pattern for mine seemed a little odd according to what the numbers actually suggested it would be.  However, after a month or so of working with it and breaking it in, it seems to work fine.  I can get a ton of distance with mine throwing it on an S-curve, more than my thunderbird actually.  Sidearm (or forehand, whatever you prefer) it works fairly decent, but I’ll stick to my firebird for those throws.  Overall, I’d say it’s a fairly good disc that can really pick up some distance for newer players who are looking for a 9 speed disc.  Still think my flight pattern is just a little off though with this disc... probably just me honestly.

This is my go-to driver for turn-overs and just about anything that demands serious control. Mine is beaten in and it is very dependable! Thrown flat, it has solid turn and a slight dependable fade that keeps it from getting away. Very controllable, so shot-shaping is easy! It has lots of glide which helps stretch the distance. Put a little anhyzer on it and watch the long sweeping turn! Everyone needs this disc!

Giving this disc 3/5 Stars, as the Sidewinder I've thrown is probably an anomaly. The disc was something of a miss-branded Thunderbird. This thing would not turn the least bit no matter how hard it was thrown. Give it 100m of power, and it would just go straight and fade(3) hard.

Perhaps it would beat in to meet its flight numbers. Unfortunately, we will probably never know.

My friends and I basically all learned distance with Sidewinders. It's a great confidence boosting driver to practice good technique and S Curves. Once you pass that phase, I prefer a Roadrunner just because you know it's going to be more understable and I like the certainty of that, where the Sidewinder is just a little more stable where it's sometimes hard to gauge what is too much or too little. I will say it can be a great disc to get out of bad spots when you can only throw 60% and still need some distance. It has glide, some controllability, I just don't bag too much understability and when I do it's my roadrunner.

This is strictly a roller disc. I cannot get this thing to fly for the life of me. If you are looking for a good beginner roller disc, this is the one for you. If you are a beginner and looking for an understable disc to fly straight for you instead of going left, this might not be the disc for you. I would suggest possible an Avenger ss for that. I ended up giving this disc away to a friend as I'm personally not a fan of rollers. If you want a roller disc, this is a 4/5. If you want a backhand/forehand disc I give this a 2/5

I got the sidewinder to be a roller/understble driver. Mine is 175g champion and is still in the new stage of wear. It is not as understable as advertised at this point. I have thrown it flat and it gets a little bit of turn and then holds that line and slightly fades back. I've even given it a little anhyzer and it still just slightly turns and then comes slightly back at the end. It actually became my driver for distance shots instead of rollers for now, but guessing it will start showing that -3 turn when the champion plastic finally starts beating in.

I like the 169g champs and have a 169g star that I actually haven't thrown yet. I was very skeptical about using a -3 turn disc thinking it would just turn and burn, but this disc doesn't. I have played anny holes a good bit and would only forehand them. After getting this disc and backhanding it I was amazed.  It'll hold that anny all day and slightly fade out at the end. It's made me reevaluate some anny holes and using this disc has gotten me a better leave. What can I say, this disc has changed my game. When I want a little tighter of a shot I'd throw the FD.  I think beginners may want to try this disc over the valk.  The valk is still a great mold imo too though.

Only throw this disc in a tailwind.  It's not a head wind disc at all.  In a wide open shot you'll get super distance thrown flat. It'll do all the work for you as a disc should.

Now I'm skeptical of throwing the roadrunner. I don't do rolls yet so roadrunner may not be for me.  Right now this disc is all the turn I need. Anything more and I minus well just forehand my thundy.

I bought the sidewinder with the idea in mind to receive an understable disc that I could reliably roll. The sidewinder delivers on that! For rollers this discs will stand up quickly, hold its line and finish right (RHBH) every time. I also love this discs as a flip-up control type of shot. The disc is great for a hyzer release followed by late turn then finishing left if it's high enough. Released flat, the Sidewinder will turn over and hold the line down to the ground. This makes it useful for the not-quite-forehand type shots or low-ceiling tunnel shots.

I love this disc, it has a surprisingly reliable turn and fade (in champion at least) if you let it fly long enough. It also makes for reliable rollers, both forehand and backhand. For a more control type of S-shot this disc can certainly do it, or it can head hard right with enough speed on it.

My sidewinder is a used one in champion plastic. We have precious few opportunities to throw rollers in Colorado so my best throws with this disc have been long anhyzers, which it holds like a champ. I'm surprised at the distance it gets, which may mean I should throw more of these lower speed discs. Thrown on a hyzer, it tips up and flies relatively straight for much of the ride. A useful disc.

Edit: 3 years in now, and I can throw much further. The Sidewinder is a fairly controllable Straight Driver. Innova stability tends to run more stable than the numbers suggest, especially in champion plastic. The sidewinder flies like a Dynamic Discs Escape. Straight flight, some turn, some fade.

I've only been playing about 6 months and this is the disc that I can regularly throw the farthest. For me, it goes really straight and does not fade out much at all. I have higher speed discs that I can't take advantage of, and honestly rarely use since I can get this one out further with more consistency. A great first driver to have in the bag.

I first purchased this disc to give away. I was gifted a king and in return had to keep the circle going. My first throw before I could give it away was amazing and since then it has been an absolute staple in my bag, and I have added an F2 sidewinder, A starsidewinder another F2 sidewinder. The original was a champion sidewinder. The one thing you will notice is that the turn is more evident with the star plastic or a bubble top. My champion sidewinder is very flat and goes very straight. Must have in the bag especially for people who throw 9 speeds, roadrunners, tee-birds and thunderbirds far.

I don't agree with the flight path listed on here. When I throw this disc, I don't see much right turn before it slices left. For this reason, this is my go to disc for left slice shots. If I need to get around a tree that is blocking the hole, I know I can trust this disc due to its sharp left hook at the end. Usually I only throw this disc to about 300 but I have thrown this disc 350-375 as well. I don't consider myself an expert so I guarantee more people can throw this disc over 400 so don't be discouraged by the map having it stop at 375. I agree with ADK812 that this is more of a ten speed but also way more of a turn, at least for me.

This was one of my first discs I started to use and I don't regret it at all. Once you master this, try the Innova Champion Beast and the Innova Blizzard Boss and see how those feel in comparison. They all are the same type of plastic so they should feel the same when starting out, but the Innova Sidewinder will help you stabilize your drives when first starting out. Must have and after 4 years I still have the disc and use it to this day! A must have in my mind.

Without buying this disc shortly after I began to play, I really wonder how my game would have developed. This disc taught me so much! The first distance driver I learned to really control. Though it is understable it can be easy to keep straight for a nice amount of time. Especially for beginners, that is important. I also found that it can out drive or finish very close to many of my high speed drivers. I usually max out around 375 or so, but I have thrown over 400 numerous times. A number of times I have thrown this bad boy over 400. This leads me to believe it is more of a ten speed. Either way, a must have for any beginner!

The Champion Sidewinder. Honestly this disc suprised me. I picked it up a while back because a friend reccomended it to me. I tried it out and decided I had other discs that better suited my LHFH lifestyle. But recently I found a PDGA discussion group about discs that were great for tamahawking. One of the discs mentioned was the Champion Sidewinder. Trying to step up my tamahawk game, I decided i'd give it a shot. Sure enough, the Sidewinder completely change the way I play. Anytime i have a hole less than 300' away with no ceiling, I reach for the SIdewinder. WIth a powerful throw I can easily put it 250+ feet down a fairway. I HIGHLY recommend anyone who tomahawks often or would like to start to pick up this disc. It has a very predictable flight pattern and is the only disc I trust enough to tamahawk.

I use the Sidewinder mostly for forehand drives. Mine is 150 g and allows me to get good distance with my secondary drive style. Backhand drives are not as reliable for me yet though.

If you love the way a valkyrie flies you will love the sidewinder, to me it flies the same but with more turn on it.

my sidewinder come out when i NEED to get around a long right hand turn and still get down the fairway a good distance, Such a great disc for that situation ..this disc has made birdies possible on holes that i couldn't get par on before it makes the turn and sails down the fairway finishing with a little left fade, i does require some height to come all the way back, its a very pretty flight when it works well. haven"t found anything else that will carry as far after the turn (but always looking)

one of my first driver disks when i got it the flight was rad staying in the air s turning until its finish. When it started to get worn in after hitting multiple trees down in Florida i started using it as a thumber disk that was pretty predictable and easily accessible helping me get out of trouble.

This is my go to disc for tunnel shots even though it is an understable disc, I have it in a heavier Champion plastic. While I have been discing for quite some time, I don't have a huge arm so the combination of lower speed and high glide ratings makes this the perfect backhand disc for me. The champion plastic seems to be extremely durable and is definitely recommended over the DX plastic that wears quickly.

I used this as my only disc on a course recently and it did everything I wanted it to do. The disc works well for LHSA or LHBH. And the Champion plastic is very durable.

My 7 year old son now has a 171g Champion Sidewinder since daddy has the 175g Dx version. They both are Discs that we always reach for. I seem to find the Dx for me gets better glide on a RHBH throw while Aiden's Champion version I get a really nice S curve on the Forehand throws. Therefore I would recommend having more than one Sidewinder in the bag in different plastics. This way you got it covered for whatever you encounter on the course. This is also the disc that my 7 year old has said may be the one that he gets his 2nd Ace with (Yea, I said 2nd.. check YouTube) so it's very beginner friendly as well.

I had one of these for a while in champion plastic and couldn't stand it. I could never get any turn on it at all, didn't get any distance to speak of, and it just didn't feel good coming out on release. I sold it to a buddy and he loves it. Does everything it's supposed to for him.

I use a beat-in Champion Sidewinder for straight, long-distance rollers with a stiff turn at the end. Previous I used beat-in Sidewinders for long anyhzer shots, but have since replaced it with Star Roadrunners (also a popular rolling disc).
