    GStar Details

GStar is a fantastic ultra premium plastic blend by Innova. The plastic offers a unique metallic shine that not only looks good, but it is also incredibly grippy and flexible (you can literally fold a GStar disc). This plastic blend is especially recommended for playing disc golf when it's cold outside.

173 gram Innova Sidewinder GStar plastic. Please do not take this review too seriously because the Sidewinder I threw had been chilling under a blackberry bush for 4 years. The owner moved out of state and told me to keep it or give it to a friend, which I did. I don't know what GStar plastic feels like brand new but after 4 years in the elements it was a bit sticky and more flexible than I expected. The disc itself was fine but unremarkable. Maybe I should be more impressed considering it was homeless for so long. It was more understable than my metal flake C-blend Infinite Discs Sphinx (9 6 -3 1) but the difference could be due to the difference in plastics or age and quality of life of the 2 discs. The big difference was distance. It's pretty easy to get the Sphinx 300+ feet. I was only able to get about 250-260 out of the sidewinder. I really can't say it's a bad disc considering the context but I prefer the Sphinx.

I also went from a leopard to this, still bag both. 164 gram gstar, my most used flippy disc. I use it for 280' up tailwind and left to right and uphill. I have heats that will do the same thing they are just as good, I just bag this because I'm used to it now and to me it feels similar to a Valkyrie which I also bag.

I have this in a 175g G-Star plastic. It's currently my go-to fairway/distance driver, mainly because it's one of the discs that I can expect to keep that lazy right turn at higher speeds until it fades rapidly at lower speeds. Really great for long fairways with a delayed left-hand bend in them. I don't usually use this as a roller but it would work great as one. The star plastic may have less fade but the G-Star is more of a 2 fade.

I own a 173g GStar version.  This is a great control driver that I use frequently.  It works will with any release angle and seems to fly where you want it (even for a beginner like me).  I started off with a Leopard in my bag, but moved up to a Sidewinder when my release speed improved.  I don't see taking this disc out of my bag any time soon.  It's predictable, consistent, and functions well in a variety of situations.  This is an understable disc, though, and I do have a stable control driver and an overstable control driver in my bag as well.  Sidewinder has good glide; not too much and not too little for a control driver, in my opinion.  It has a little fade, but not too much.  It is forgiving to speed inputs; I don't worry about using this disc even when I don't throw it hard.  It is on the upper end of control drivers, but it flies fine even if it's not thrown very hard.  I definitely prefer Sidewinder to Leopard (at this point) and Discraft Heat.  Latitude 64 Diamond and Dynamic Discs Witness are also good choices, though.  In general, I recommend staying away from Innova's DX plastic.  Spend the extra money on Pro plastic or better.

This was one of the first discs that I was able to throw pretty straight with some distance! Its will always be in my bag as my go to dependable driver that I know will go far and straight.

I got this for Christmas, but unfortunately lost it a few days after getting it. The disc was in star plastic, purple, 168 grams. What I remember about this disc was that it was pretty stable for me back then. I could only throw about 200-225 feet back then, which would probably explain that. I used it as my max distance driver until I got my pro wraith, and it was also great for soft hyzers and turnovers. From what I remember if I threw it flat it would go straight and at the end would finish left (RHBH). I now have a champion roadrunner so I likely won't need to get another sidewinder (except maybe in DX plastic for a hyzerflip and ride to the right disc). Overall, I think this would be a great beginners first driver and a great disc for in the woods for advanced players as well for rollers.

I love this disc.  The first time I threw this disc it basically followed the Flight Path diagram above and gave me more distance than any other disc in my bag.  I really like the GStar plastic and it has withstood some hard knocks with very few nicks.  This is still my go to disc on most drives.  Love it and would highly recommend it.

I use a 170g Sidewinder mainly for hyzerflips through tunnel and open shots. If shooting through headwind, I find the wind likes to pick up and elevate it a bit. I would recommend this disc to anyone!
