The Rhyno is a popular slow-flying overstable putter with very little glide. This disc features a Thumbtac groove that helps provide excellent grip and controlled shots. The overstable nature of this disc makes it good for headwinds and short drives where you don’t want to overshoot the basket.

Super useful disc. The rhyno feels great in the hand with the thumb track and beaded rim. The slight overstability allows me to trust it on a little anhyzer angle to go straight and land flat. I can throw it anywhere between 80 feet for approach shots and 300 feet for short drives.

The only downside the rhyno has is that it isn't great for forehand considering it is a deep putter. Otherwise it works great.

Turning into my favorite putter. Great for those approach shots that you need to put a little extra effort on. The low glide will make sure it won't get overthrown. Love the beaded feel and drops nicely on a put.

This is my one absolute favorite putters that I use in my bag at the moment. It is a really good disc for new players such as myself. The feel of this disc is really great too, even in DX plastic it still feels good in the hand. When I throw it, it goes where I want it to go to with a nice fade at the end, I also use it for running the basket, all i have to do is give it a smooth throw and it will do the rest. It does have a bead which is not everyone's cup of tea but I like it a lot.

Its a good disc for beginners and will do the job for ya.

Very good disk for throwing/putting into wind. Super predictable fade, however has a tendency to roll

THEN - My "Chubby Unicorn" was my first disk I used when I started playing. Several people told me to use a putter to start, and so I did. I went to Walmart, found the putter that just looked the coolest, and went with it... in DX plastic of course. This disc was probably not (certainly not) the best disc for one disc rounds. It has a terrible glide, hooks pretty hard left if not thrown well, and sometimes rolls like a mo-fo if it hits on the rim at an angle (unintended "throwlers" are not fun, especially when you are starting out).

NOW - My "Chubby Unicorn" has a permanent spot in my bag (now in Star plastic of course) for the same reasons I would not suggest it for a new player. The low glide makes this disc perfect for windy days. Throwing into the wind, or even cross-wind upshots, the disc will almost always maintain the flight-path you intend, and the low glide keeps it at the same level. The ability to throw it as a relatively straight overhand roller for short distances before the fade takes over and makes it just lay down, and the fact it consistently will hook left if thrown with proper form all contribute to this disc being extremely reliable to do what it needs to do.

One of my local courses has a family / beginners course that is great to practice putt and approach gameplay, and now I do use my Rhyno for one-disc rounds there. While I would never want to use a Rhyno as my main putter due to the low glide and heavy fade, as a utility disc and utility putter, the Rhyno is irreplaceable. I don't bring this disc out every round, or even every other round, but when I do need it, the disc fills the role I need it for perfectly every time.

You need discs you can rely on and always know what they will do, and the Rhyno fits this slot perfectly.

The Rhyno is probably the most important disc in my bag. 200 feet and in, there is a 95% chance I'm throwing it because as long as I hit my line, it's not going to scoot far from the pin. It's slow, has the same amount of glide as a brick, and is nearly unaffected by wind. I lovingly call it a baby Gator.

Not too flat, not too domey. It has a thumbtrack on top which feels good and adds to the grip quality, and the rim is nice and thick and it doesn't have a particularly deep dish. Power grip, fan grip, whatever, it's comfortable. It really just feels BEEFY in the hand and that gives me confidence to unload on it and it rarely disappoints. When I do have a bad shot with it, it is always my fault. The disc won't flip, won't skip (much), and won't sail 50 feet long on you.

The Star plastic is a staple in disc golf so you know what you're getting; good grip (the thumbtrack helps), consistency, and incredible durability. I've been throwing the same one for 3 years and it is still a stable brute. It can handle power, winds, is fantastic for forced over flex shots and headwind putts.

I almost strictly throw this disc, very rarely will I putt with it. However I have had success when putting straight into a headwind with the Rhyno, and I've had a TON of success tossing soft flex shots from 60-100 feet and banging chains with it.

Forehand or backhand the Rhyno is a putt and approach disc that you can trust completely and absolutely rip on off the tee or from the fairway approaching the basket without fear of it skipping too far away. This thing is great.

This was the first putting putter that ever stole my heart. It was the best straight line point and shoot putter i ever tried. MY only beef with it was the glide. I think i hit the basket 5 times as often as i made it in. Flies extremely straight and feels very comfortable and is a great approach disc always sitting down as it lands. Def worth giving it a shot!

    170g Star Rhyno

Solid putter and approach disc for windy conditions.  Really helps my confidence in the wind.  For me, it's too over-stable for anything other than a utility disc, but a solid one at that.

Rhynos are basically my control mid-ranges for drives and long approaches.  On full rip I can flex them straight as an arrow for about 300 ft.  They are not a jack-of-all type of disc so keep that in mind.  They do not glide much, I can't FH or OH them nor can I throw them for short rollers.  Backhand, for me though, they are magic if magic means they always land where I want them to.  In DX they are also my go-to OS putter.

I started using a Star Rhyno for those shots that are tweener Mid/putt range.  And man I'm glad I did!  When I want a short approach or long putt that I know will drop quick and stick where I want it this is the disc I reach for.  The stability of the Rhyno stands up nicely to power and the lack of glide means I hardly ever over shoot the basket.  The fade is amazingly consistent.  I don't know how the other plastics are as far as rollaways and skips go but my Star is kind of gummy and where it drops it stays.

As far as using it as a pure putter I don't really reach for it unless I'm dealing with a lot of wind and then it is an excellent wind fighting putter.  From closer range I'm still reaching for my Swans.  But I didn't get the Rhyno for putting so much as approaches and it works wonders for me in that regard.  The combo of the Rhyno for approaches/long putts and the Swan for close in work is a deadly combo for me.

Overall good disc. I got this for upshots but have found it a little on the very low glide side. I know the numbers indicate that but I was surprised. Definitely a good disc if you want it to get there and just fall down and sit. Could be a nice driving putter for short holes.

The Rhyno is a get wind fighting putter, and a solid putter off the tee. It's a consistent flier and doesn't like to move once it sits down.

The thumb Trac is a nice feature for extra grip and control and I like the star plastic. It's strong enough to take some hits while being grippy and flexible enough for bad weather.

It has its uses, but I wouldn't use it for putting or upshots on a regular basis. it only sees use on really windy days. It excels there, but doesn't get much use aside from that.

I have a beautiful white/green stamp Star Rhyno that's 172g. I'm a big fan of hyzer spike putting and this fits the bill for me out to 200'. Overstable and comparable to my Medium WIzard that I alternate into my bag. My other putter is an RFF Wizard that I use for putts inside of 35'. The Rhyno goes where you want it to go, a great overall putt and approach disc. Some may find the Thumtrac off-putting, but I like the control it gives me.
