The Rhyno is a popular slow-flying overstable putter with very little glide. This disc features a Thumbtac groove that helps provide excellent grip and controlled shots. The overstable nature of this disc makes it good for headwinds and short drives where you don’t want to overshoot the basket.

DX Rhynos start out true to the flight numbers and after some tree hits - turn into a great straight flying disc.  Can take a lot of abuse, despite the base plastic.  Great for upshots/driving off the tee.

In this video I thoroughly review the Innova Rhyno. This is a very overstable putter that is best used throwing at short range, or spin putts against headwinds or crosswinds. Arguably one of the best utility putters for minimizing skips, and otherwise slowing down significantly towards the end of its flight.

Great throwing putter that parks under the basket. Usually use it for tee shots and up shots, especially in the wind or close putts. Also good for elevated putts when you're throwing down at the basket, it'll just drop in. I carry a champion one in 170g that's from the early 2000s which means the fade has mellowed and it holds a straight line longer than usual. Can really rip on this disc and trust I won't overshoot the approach.

This disc is a staple of my driving putters, without a doubt. I got this disc from Walmart thinking I'd use it as a putting putter, and while it works well for me at short distances, it's high fade really didn't appeal to me. Keep in mind, I got it in DX plastic. Now, while it didn't really work for me as a putting putter, once I increased my arm speed and could finally drive past 250 feet with a driver, I started using different discs to drive with, including putters. When I put some power behind this disc now, I can do a slight hyzer flip on it, which will get it to level out, fly straight for about 250 feet, then slowly and reliably fade in for the last 50 feet. Or, if I'm approaching a hole with a bend, I will often throw it at a lower speed and get that reliable fade that puts me at or in the basket every time

I bought my DX RHYNO off my local shop's used rack already kind of beat up, and it flies very straight with a reliable fade at the end. I loved it so much that I bought another Rhyno in Champion plastic to compliment the other one. Definitely would recommend for players that don't bag that many mid ranges and is looking for a disc you can power up on and not have to worry about flying 30 feet past the basket. 5 STARS!

I would never putt with this disc but I love throwing it. I can put a little bit of power behind this disc and get about 200 feet from it with a slight continuous fade when thrown flat. It has nearly no glide but will do exactly what it advertises. The DX plastic gets beat in pretty quickly but I think that benefits the Rhyno.

This will be a great and dependable disc for most of its life. It is definitely overstable but doesn't just dump on, it just fades softly and consistently to the ground. Once it is used for a while, it will become an incredibly straight, and surprising glidey, thrower. Try out a rhyno!

I'm still learning to throw back handed well, so this is about the only disk I use back hand. I use it mainly as a mid-range to approach disk. It is very predictable, and works like a charm every time. The DX version rolls away from the pin a little too often, so I now use the Rhyno R-Pro.

The Rhyno is a great putter when you need an up-wind option, and a pretty bad putter when there is no wind. This disc is very low in the glide department so it barely notices wind, but this also means that new players will have a hard time getting it to go far as it requires a lot of power to get this thing moving.

The DX Rhyno was my first disc, and it's still in my bag as an upwind putter (although I have a flat-top Champion Aviar I am testing for the slot), but more and more, I find myself reaching for one of my Aviars or my Nova and just putting them on a better line instead so I can keep the same mold feel.

The ryhno was my first ever putter and it was nice and overstable for me starting out now I'm using it for aproaches in star plastic, thrown at 60-70% on slight hyzer it will hold it nicely the whole way bit more power and will flip flat with some fade at the end. I recently went back to it for putting and I forgot how much I loved it for that, I don't have to worry about the wind any more. over all for beginners I'd recommend using it for aproaches and alittle bit of putting but for intermediate to advanced unless you get it really dialed in and you want something that can handle the wind stick with it for putting.

Disc: Innova Rhyno - DX 175g

Feel: The DX Rhyno has a shallow feel for a beaded thumbtrack putter. Towards the center of the flight plate a uniform dome is present but rarely would a grip be affected by that if utilizing the thumbtrack. The DX plastic blend seems to vary from slick and hard to soft with more grip, with the softer blends typically having a smaller or no dome.

Flight: New, the DX Rhyno has a good amount of stability and will fade when thrown up in the air. Nose angle is more important when manipulating the flight than some other putters (especially in wind). Once worn in, the Rhyno is a straighter flyer that will gain a bit of glide and lose some stability in the early flight. Be cautious when throwing into a strong headwind as the stability won't match the 3 fade expectation unless the dome is higher and nose/hyzer angles are appropriate or else the disc may flatten out and turn in the wrong direction.

Putting with the Rhyno is fine within Circle 1, outside of which consider getting a higher glide putter. Spin putting with the Rhyno, the thumbtrack gives a great reminder of where to grip and place fingers.

Impressions: Fairly torque resistant, the DX Rhyno will not turn and burn when overpowered but will provide a somewhat straight flight path before the low glide kicks in and settles it down. I picked up a DX Rhyno as my first putter and went away from it when I had little success putting initially. I've recently returned to the mold (and that first putter) after seeking a lower glide disc that could be reliable throwing shorter & more controlled distances.

Using the thumbtrack as a guide, I've been learning to spin putt much more efficiently and find my putts more consistently drawing metal compared to the deeper beadless P2. That first putter I bought just starting out still has a lot of life and has turned into a straight flying & putting disc with little fade.

Comparisons: The Rhyno is a somewhat unique and older mold with a different feel that may not suit everyone's game. Most aren't looking for low glide options to putt with but I found it works for my game.

I still use the P2, Aviar3, or Tomb for longer putts, glidey approaches, and driving off the tee but the Rhyno has taken over a majority of short range approaches (R-Pro, Luster Champ, GStar) & putting (DX & R-Pro). DX AviarX3 is another comparable mold that has slightly more stability new but breaks in a little differently and doesn't putt as well. Pig, Rat, and Gator/Mortar provide slightly different experiences as well with more speed, fade, and wind resistance. Picking and choosing which of those molds makes the bag depends on a few things but I usually have 3-4 in my bag at any time.

Before I go into the details of the disc I do want to point out that the different plastics innova offers will also differ the stability of any disc they offer. Meaning a rhyno in DX plastic will act a lot more under stable, while a rhyno in champion plastic will be a lot more over stable than what the flight ratings state. Now, that being said the rhyno that I am describing is in DX plastic, when thrown at full power it flies nice and straight for quite a while and then fades moderately to the left. I can only imagine how much a champion plastic rhyno would act. it will probably fade hard left with very little effort. Overall using it as a putting putter, I don't recommend this, as an approach putter, I would definitely recommend using it. simply because it has a nice straight line with little fade.. again, in DX plastic. The overall feel, consistency, control, and confidence when using this disc.. again, in DX plastic, in my opinion, is very useful in the field. The distance that I can get with this putter MDX plastic is anywhere between 250ft-300ft before it fades. The higher it is from the ground the more it's going to fade obviously, but I do feel this disc hooks hard left if it's thrown too high or even straight up.

This is from the perspective of multiple beginner players.  The first putter we purchased was a 166g DX Rhyno.  It has too much fade to be useful anywhere other than really close to the basket.  I definitely prefer every single putter I have tried since buying Rhyno and so does everyone in my family.  Of the putters we own, they are (in order of preference) Viking Rune (we own 12 of these), Dynamic Discs Marshal, Discraft Soft Focus, and Dynamic Discs Judge.  I'm not a huge fan of Judge, either, but it's definitely better than Rhyno.  Rune, Marshal, and Soft Focus are all true Putt & Approach discs that can be thrown off the tee pad and any time that you are within 200' of the basket (or further, if you are more experienced).  Unless you have a reason for wanting a high-fade putter like Rhyno, there are countless better options.  In general, I recommend avoiding Innova's DX plastic (there are several companies that have better base plastics and there is a huge jump in quality between Innova's DX plastic and their Pro plastic).  However, this doesn't necessarily apply to putters.  It really doesn't apply to a putter like Rhyno that won't maintain a place in your bag.

DX Rhyno 175g - This was my first putter, and it didn't stick around in my bag for too long as a putter. I didn't enjoy the thumbtrac on it for putting, and it saw it stall out too soon, causing me to miss my putt left and short. However, this disc did stay in my bag as I adjusted from BH to FH, and it is now my main approach disc within 10ft. This disc will stay flat and die right near the basket, which is helpful on wooded courses. It feels a need in my bag and its rim is comfortable for that FH approach shot, but i would not putt with it, regardless of wind.

Good if you like to throw touch shots at full power

I bought this disc because the local store had one and I was on vacation and lost my zone. I wouldn't have bought the disc sight unseen but having felt it in the store, I thought, "sure, let's give it a go." Besides, I liked the color and weight. Thought that even if it didn't play out like my zone, it might play like my scale which I didn't bring with me. I was wrong. First, it feels better in hand to me than the scale, more like my zone although it (like the scale) has a thumb groove. So unlike the scale which is very uncomfortable for me to flick, the rhyno is like my zone, and very easy off the forehand. But that's where the similarity to the zone ends. Now to be perfectly fair, the rhyno is speed 2 and the zone is speed 4 so they should not be that similar in the first place, however, I was not thrilled with how easy it was to turn this disc. On the Inbounds flight path chart, the zone goes dead straight for 200' and then gradually fades to about 270'. The rhyno goes dead straight for 200' and then fades to 240'. I can get my zone to go dead straight for about 180 or so before the fade kicks in, but with that same throw, the rhyno turned over and then faded back and died. It's a strange disc. I could get it to hyzer flip, but the lack of glide made it like I was throwing a stone. It would flip up, run out of gas, and dump out. But a tad too much hyzer and it crashes and burns. In a way, if you want your touch shots to be thrown full power, this disc could be your friend.

The DX Rhyno was the first putter I ever owned. As a beginner, the overstability of this putter made it hard to actually putt with, but it was, and still is, a heck of a throwing putter. It has a nice low profile that sits comfortably in hand. It is beaded, but that gives it that added stability to fight the wind. I really like the DX versions because they beat in nicely, but I have also thrown th Champ and G Star versions as well. I like both of those to hold the stability longer.

Great putter. Granted this is the only one I have ever owned but I have not complaints about it. It is a solid straight throw with a little fade at the end. I would recomend something other than DX plastic but since its a putter, DX plastic will be just fine since its not going to hit anything at a high velocity and damage the disc.

I agree with the other reviewers this is a great disc to have in your bag. Very sturdy. I've had mine for a few years and still flies great. I like that it is one of the least expensive discs but the quality is there. I will probably get another one just to have a backup.

I personally don't care too much for the Rhyno as a go-to putter, but as an approach disc, the Rhyno is wonderful. From the ~80-100 foot range, I know exactly what the Rhyno will do and I can always put it close to the basket. In any condition, the Ryhno will be a dependable disc with a predictable flight pattern... and for me, I don't want to carry around a stack of approach discs, so I carry just one. They Rhyno.
