The Rhyno is a popular slow-flying overstable putter with very little glide. This disc features a Thumbtac groove that helps provide excellent grip and controlled shots. The overstable nature of this disc makes it good for headwinds and short drives where you don’t want to overshoot the basket.

This is my go to approach disc and has gotten me some long throw-ins.   The one I bag is the Nexus plastic that has a Gregg Barsby stamp, love how the plastic feels.   I was given a GStar version which has a similar feel and flight.

I am starting to see some other reviews of people putting with this disc and I love it!. It has been my favorite approach disc since I took the time to learn its flight and value. I was bouncing around different putters for my "putting" putter. One day after missing a long (35 ft) putt for birdie I took a second with my R-pro Rhyno and it hit center pole and felt amazing. I was hesitant to start using it as a "putting" putter because so many review said not to. On the other hand, I heard a lot of people I take practice advice from say, "limit the molds in your bag" and "try a putter for 2 months"(thanks Robbie C) I gave it a try. I will still try other putters in my practice bag mainly because I love stamps and I have not found a lot of custom stamped Rhynos but I keep returning. Everyone buy them in every plastic so Innova will make more instead of only making Ricky pigs. No offense...I love that disc too...A custom dye on this Gstar will have to do...

Call me crazy, but this is my go-to putter. Not just specialty for wind and hyzer putts (although I love that it's a wind-warrior putter).
The mold, specifically the thumb track, feels great in my hand, and when combined with the Rhyno's predictable fade and complete lack of glide, I can confidently attack the basket with this disc. It was the first putter I ever owned, and though I've tried many other putters to see if straighter and "glidier" would be better for me, I keep coming back to the Rhyno.

This is a great approach putter. I just got one in the G Star Plastic and it is great for both forehand and back approach shots. It flies really straight for the first 80% of the flight then fades and falls really quickly thereafter. It is really good at resisting torque, you can rip it as hard as you want and it will not turn over. It goes just as far as my envy putter (about 300 ft) and does not have the possibility of turning over like the envy does. It does great on fore hand flick approach shots too. Most discs are too touchy and have too mich glide when your doing forehand approach shots within 150ft, not this one. I find that my forehand flicks are able to get the basket chain high so that I have a chance to hole out, but if I miss, they typically park within 150ft of the basket leaving an easy come back put. Its nice to have a disc in my bag that allows me to run shots at the basket from within 150ft and know that my comeback put will be close enough to make with ease.

The Rhyno in Champion plastic is probably the most trusted and dependable disc in my bag. It is my most thrown disc besides my putting putter. It is an ultra reliable approach disc and I mainly use it for this purpose on just about any approach within 175'. I will also occasionally throw it off the tee on short holes that can accommodate it's overstable line, or as a putting putter when there is strong wind. Getting the action of this disc down immediately shaved strokes off my game...

And yet when I first held it in my hand as a beginner, I hated it. I am not a big thumb track person. It felt deep and the rim felt kind of sharp. I threw it and it didn't go very far and faded hard into the ground (little did I know this is what makes the Rhyno so great). I almost got rid of it, but dug it back out after I had been playing for a little while and discovered it's magic. When I need an approach under 150', I pull this baby out, let her rip a little to the right of my target and watch it float out a bit before hooking up and diving to the ground with very little action, usually nestled within a few feet of the basket. Despite the feeling of the rim, I've found I get ultra-consistent releases with it. You can rip on the Rhyno and it won't turn over. I use it almost exclusively backhand, but I know there are people out there that flick it too. Calvin Heimburg uses Rhynos, to great effect, and you might hear Big Jerm call it his "velcro Rhyno" or "parachute Rhyno". That's a perfect example of what it does - it gets out to it's target, then it puts on the brakes and stops.

Every player needs a disc that does what the Rhyno does (that is, an overstable approach disc with low speed and low glide). The Rhyno is my favorite, but the Pig is a very similar alternative if you can't stand beaded rims. The Pig, Harp, Zone, Berg - they all do somewhat similar things but none of them quite had the magic for me that the Rhyno does. I prefer it in durable Champion plastic as I think the stability is very important part of it's action, and I also don't want it's dependable flight to change at all. I find even in Champ that the ground play is very minimal. I do think it's a hair straighter than the flight ratings, suggest, I rated the fade a 2.5. It's still not going to turn over on you, even powered up. I rated this Somewhat Beginner Friendly because while I think this disc would benefit new players, it does take some understanding of fade and how to use that to your advantage to unlock this disc. 5 star disc and one that will always have a spot in my bag.

The Rhyno is by far my favorite putt and approach disc with a Pig being a close second. I found an old beat up Pig on my local course and threw it a couple times and fell in love. Now while I would never putt with a Pig, this lead me to looking for another option out there with a thumbtrack. That's when I found my beloved Rhyno mold.

I love these things. I have tried all the plastics but keep coming back to the GStar. This thing for an approach disc is unreal. I throw it and it just sits down next to the basket. It has almost eliminated all rollers from my approach game.

For putting I'm in between what plastic types I like. R-Pro and DX have been my favorites so far. I seem to get more luck with R-Pro putting, but that could just how I am throwing it.

Do yourself a favor and get a Rhyno to try out. DX is cheap enough entry level to find a new love for a unique putter.

Have to concur with other reviewers on how legit the Rhyno disc is.

I would like to add that GStar plastic is best to prevent roll-aways and stick as close as possible to where it lands.

Got this disc a little while ago, it has settled into my bad as a great approach putter and upshots.  Very consitent flight and very confindent I have park it close and have a stress free putt.

This is a great approach disc.  I put a lot of power behind this disc knowing that it's not going to go past the basket with the low glide and over stability.  Thrown hard this disc is going to fly flat and try to get to the ground.  Depending on the height that you give it, it will fade.  Thrown with less power it is going to fly like a overstable disc will, going left (RHBH).

The G Star plastic is great in this disc because it doesn't want to skip or move once it hits the ground.  Couple that with the low glide and stability makes this a fantastic approach disc.

I wish I'd followed the advice that everyone gives when they tell you to throw putters until you get good at it. I skipped throwing putters and used a lot of mids and fairway drivers which can masks flaws. I've circled back and started throwing my Rhyno and it is a fantastic throwing and approach disc. It is overstable and not glidey (more glide than advertised though) and it lands pretty soft. Putters make really good upshot discs. The rhyno is a great overstable and slow disc that will stop where you put it. Great throwing putter. I do not putt with the rhyno.

The Rhyno is one of a kind putter than functions best as an approach disc. It can be used as a putter, but where it really shines is 50-150 foot shots coming up on the basket that need to sit and stick. Like another reviewer, I have a super gummy Champion version that tacos when it hits the ground and doesn't move. Rhyno is unique in it's lack of glide, which means it goes not further than you throw it. If you want a disc that can get you close to the basket regardless of wind conditions and making your putting life easier, Rhyno is what you want. Irreplaceable disc for me.

I have 3 Rhynos 1 DX, 1 Gstar, and 1 R-Pro.  The Gstar, and DX are nearly new and the R-Pro is super beat / flippy.  I bought my first Rhyno for flick putts and it has become my main putter as well as for anything inside 150'.  Even though the glide is rated at 1 I can easily get the Gstar and DX past 210'.  I primarily am a push putter and I needed something more overstable than my overstable than my JK Aviar-X that was also beaded.  The R-Pro is so beat up that it will hold any line that it is put on .  Overall the Rhyno is the best putt and approach disc for both BHs and FHs

This is a terrific putter, I get some flak for being a rhyno only guy but I am ok with that when I am hitting putts with the best of them.

I have to qualify this review by stating that my putting game is not that great. I'm decent from 30' in, but from 30' out my accuracy diminishes significantly. This may be because I use a rhyno now that I think about it. I use this as my go-to putter. It is super slow with almost no glide, so it won't carry far at all. I rarely overshoot a basket with it. It does fade big though, so you have to aim high-right in the chains. The big bead gives you a lot of control though so it works. A couple things though, I use a Gummy Rhyno, which isn't offered on this site as of this writing. It is soft and yet offers the cleaner release than the R-Pro. Finally, this is my first ace disc. 104 ft little guy, but it was awesome just the same.
