The Katana is an amazing high-speed distance driver with major turn and fade. The Katana will move through the air like no other disc. This speed-13 driver has an incredible degree of high-speed turn (3) followed by major low-speed fade (3). Innova says this disc has “flight characteristics of the Sidewinder on steroids.” The Katana is capable of making huge turnover throws, and sailing for maximum distance.

Innova Pro Line uses a special blend of plastics that provide unique qualities for each disc model. The different blends of Pro Line plastic produce discs with a wide range of rigidity from extremely soft to firm and stiff.

Pro plastic is more durable than DX, and provides a better grip than Champion Plastic. Discs in pro plastic tend to be slightly more understable than counterparts of the same mold in other premium plastic blends.

My personal favorite go-to disc when im unsure what to throw. I always get the same flight and same result from each of my pro katanas. I always have 2 bagged and 1 in my girlfriend's bag just in case something happens. Perfect flex shot everytime!!

I found this disk (no name/number) while searching for another my son lost in endless leaves. It was very caked in mud and looked all scuffed up, so I assumed it was probably pretty beat-in already. I gave my disc collection a good scrubbing this weekend, though, and it turned out to be in much better shape than I first thought. I took it out with me for 18 holes this afternoon and tried it out on one hole, then another and another -- I was really pleased with how it flew, with both headwinds and tailwinds. I thought with the -3 turn it would be veering right on me too much if I threw it straight and level and would have to hyzer it, but it tended to fly straight for me with only moderate turn. That might be from not getting enough zip behind my throws for a 13-speed disc. I have to assume you'd get more of the turn if you've got more power, though with a bit less, the same disc should prove to be a nice straight-flyer for you. I was also pleasantly surprised to see it finish more straight forward at my target rather than fading sharply left, as the the 3 Fade made me expect. I'm not very familiar yet with the Pro blend plastic, but I like the feel and smooth release of it. This will definitely be one for the bag!

Innova advertisers this disc as semi-beginner friendly but they can't be far away from the truth. Just because it has -3 turn doesn't mean a noodle arm can make it work. I get more distance out of 9 speed discs. Unless you are cranking out 400 foot drives, I wouldn't give this disc a shot.

    Disc: Pro Katana

Feel in Hand: Pretty boilerplate driver from Innova. In all honesty, it really reminded me of a Sidewinder.

Flight: Pretty typical, a big turn out of the hand; big fade back. It was pretty easy to forehand as well, but it didn't do anything that was changing for my game. It didn't hold up in the wind super well and I couldn't get control of the angles for this one.

Conclusion: I think it would be a good disc if it is your first disc above speed 10. To teach you timing and form. For me, it didn't do anything that other things in my bag can't do better. For me, this disc needs too much "real-estate" without all the controllability of hyzer flips, etc. (2/4)

This disc is great for a Kevin Jones-esque sky hyzer flip with a long glide and reliable fade that won't skip far. Threw this disc straight hyzer for 400ft 5 feet off the ground, catching a crosswind underneath the disc and took it forever. Pretty effortless glide, I would say its a 6 glide.  I also use this disc for a sharp cutting roller that will roll forever.

This is a very good starter driver for a beginner/amateur with a slower arm speed. For those who have a higher arm speed, I feel this disc will turn over majorly just as it does for me. I personally would only use it as a roller disc but, for those with slower arm speeds, they may find this disc to be very useful for longer distance. Overall, it has a very nice, slim feel to it, and it's very comfortable both backhand and forehand so overall, it's a very versatile disc. Just not for me.

This was to replace my Star 166g Katana and I also bag a 155g Blizzard Katana. The pro plastic on this 164g gives crazy glide and I immediately added 20 feet to what I could get with my other 2. Pro is definitely more understable than the others but works great on hyzer flips if you have a wide open drive. I went from about 350' to 370' consistently with this and can touch over 400 with good conditions. Not for tight lines

This disc had so much potential in my eyes, but I was rather disappointed. Although I can get a tiny bit of turn out of it for distance, it ultimately dumps left for me every single time. I've been told it really depends on what the disc looks like (flat or dome). I guess I can agree with them, mine was fairly flat. I have since given the disc to my dad, who really likes it, but maybe one day I'll find a domey katana and give it a shot.

I have Katanas in DX, Star, and Pro.  The Pro is my favorite;  I get great distance with good glide and a solid, consistent flight.  The Star Katana is a bit more overstable, and the DX Katana is flippy.  I actually use the Katana on tunnel shots in the woods;  it hyzer-flips to a great straight flight.  It's a fun disc to throw on casual rounds, as well.

I used to bag a Pro Katana and was unable to throw it, so I ended up selling it. I recently picked up a Star Katana and another Pro Katana and now that my arm speed is up, I'm really starting to like this disc. It's one of my go-to discs for long, wide-open shots as it'll get a long turn before making a hard fade at the end. My longest drives have been with this disc.

Recently I picked up a Katana in Pro in search of a nice hyzerflip/turnover disc. The Pro Katana I purchased was a softer grippy blend and the plastic felt nice. The flight plate was nice and gummy but due to the rim width the disc didn't feel floppy.

Flightwise the Pro Katana flies nicely.  Mine is 171g.  I would say the flight numbers are correct.  Throw it hard and the disc will turn over and when it slows down it will fade fairly hard.  I would say this disc would work for a good turnover disc for someone with 340'+ of power.  The more power you have the less the fade will come into play.  Likely, the more use this disc gets the less fade it will have as well.  I have a Pro Thunderbird which has seen a bit of use for a year and it flies more like a fresh Valkyrie than a Thunderbird.

Keep in mind that the rim on this is pretty wide with a shallow rim.  The rim on this is wider than a Shryke and is also more shallow than the rim on a Shryke as well.  The rim on this just isn't very comfortable for my grip due to the wide shallow rim.  The grippier Pro plastic somewhat helps overcome the rim issue though.

I bought a Katana when I first started playing the wonderful sport of Disc Golf.  However, at that time it was too much for my weak arms and beginner form.  Fastforward a year later, and now I have picked myself up some more Katanas (Pro plastic, which I prefer for my drivers), and I am really liking the S-curves and longer distances that I seem to be getting with this disc.  I'm still working on my backhand and forehand forms, but I can honestly say that I like this disc.  I would'nt reccommend it to a brand new beginner, but once you get your form down give this bad boy a try!  It will surely fly!

I have owned three katanas in my short career so far, two in champion and the current one is R-pro, and I have not been disappointed yet. True to form the champion plastic performed more stable than the R-pro. With a champion katana, I can throw a mega hyzer rip and it will stand up after fighting just a bit and fly consistently straight. The R-pro however is a much different story... After finding this disc, which already flew much more understable, it beat in quickly. At this point, the disc is almost obsolete it is so understable. This disc will turn viciously harder than any disc I've ever thrown and roll. I could use it for a roller, but I've determined that I'm an effort to have a disc tailored for every shot, I use it for the heaviest of tailwinds. This disc will without a doubt fly further than any disc in my collection with the proper conditions. With a heavy tailwind, I release this disc on a massive hyzer off to the left of the fairway, and it will bank hard to the right. The disc will barely fade as it approaches the ground, but will straighten out enough to carry so far you might want to pack a snack or five. Experiment, learn your discs, and find a shot for each one, and you will improve that much more. I love the katana and would recommend it to Any player of any level.

Just found this disc while playing a round at Weatherford DGC. 170-172 R-Pro. Afterwards me and a couple friends went to throw it around and the very first throw I threw with it I hyzer flipped it perfectly and watched it go perfectly straight. And then watched it keep staying straight.. It ended up being the farthest/most accurate throw I've ever had backhand. Great backhand disc. Hard to control forehand if your release comes out flat.

Also I love the grippy feeling of the R-Pro plastic.

My first and only Ace was with a pro Katana. This disk made me love to play disk golf, it was long and i could put a beautiful s curve on this thing when i first started. defiantly made me keep coming back for more and more rounds of disk golf.

I love this disc! This disc goes wherever I want it and is my most consistent driver I've ever thrown. I have one in the pro plastic. I used it for a few months now but recently played a super tight course and I had an off day and the trees beat it to crap. Just to be prepared if it has to be retired because I messed up it's usefulness I ordered another in the pro plastic and another in the champion plastic.

The most consistant big distance driver i throwll. I get a little more distance with thee tern but in anyweight i get the most consistant drives with the katana. I have a 142 blizzard that i just picked up, getting too much height as of rt now but crazy distance even so. Cant wait to see what happens once i can level that one out .

I have a Pro Katana i used to throw all the time until it got too beat in to be useful. I'd recommend getting one in premium plastic to avoid the frustration of trying to replace a favorite driver every year or so.

Fun disc, the only bad thing is if you don't have the arm for it, it wont do what you want. I don't have a cannon for an arm so I have to tweak how I throw. But once you get it down, this disc is great for dogleg right holes. I would recommend this if you have some patience to get used to it or are a power thrower.
