Like many players, the Firebird is my favorite forehand control driver or as a very overstable utility option for my backhand. I bag two or three Firebirds at a time, and there is a lot of variation in terms of how straight or dumpy the different plastics or runs fly. My 2022 Sexton Firebird flies ultra-straight with forward pushing fade, whereas the 2023 Sexton is 100% USDA Prime BEEF. The Star or Halo Star Firebirds are bit more mild, but they remain a reliable overstable option and a staple in the bag.

Bought my 2017 Sexton Firebird used. The run that I have is typically domey and more overstable however mine is board flat and flys like a Thunderbird. Whether I want to throw it forehand or backhand it feels comfortable in my hand and can hold the straight line with a reliable fade at the end of it's flight. If I was looking for a FB that flys similar out of the box I would go for the 2021 Sexton FB. I love this disc and it's a go to on the majority of my forehand off the tee and some backhands

Great overstable driver, I don't use mine for a lot of distance, but when i get in the wind i throw it all day with confidence that it will always come back and stick. It can be used for big hyzer shots to get over or around stuff and can be used for flare shots when thrown flat and just let it do its thing. I couldn't recommend a better windy day driver.

There is a reason the Sexton Firebird is so popular. This is the overstable disc to bag for intermediate to advanced players.

Can't find a more reliable disc. It is a beloved classic for a reason. I currently bag three Firebirds. My most overstable is in Champion plastic, great for utility shots mainly. My 2022 Sexton Firebird is a little straighter, and the Champion Color Glow is probably Innova's best plastic. The last Firebird I bag is in Star plastic, it is a little beat-in and flies closer to a Thunderbird now. If there is a forehand shot inside 300ft, I am always reaching for a Firebird.

My caveat, I do not drive forehand. I only forehand out of trouble. So.... I only backhand this disc. Nothing beats its ability to fight a headwind, do what it does, and stay on the fairway. It has a great skip, to add distance on doglegs. I don't throw it often, but when I do, it is because it is windy and I need it!

One of the best forehand discs ever made. I carry two with me. '18 Sexton and '21 Sexton. My '18 is very beat up, and still is very overstable. The '21 is a much straighter flying disc which is nice to have to contrast the other. Definitely recommend for forehand players, or if you need a very overstable backhand hyzer disc.

Best overstable utility driver on the planet. I bag a couple sextons and a champion glow for more Overstable shots and thumbers. If I can throw a Firebird on a hole, I will throw a Firebird on the hole. This disc is my security blanket. Learn it, love it, and watch the strokes fall off your scores.

This is one of THE BEST overstable fairway drivers for any player with a strong forehand and a stronger backhand. It reliably fades out of an anhyzer throw for a beautiful s-curve and also can cut very sharpe corners on tight wooded fairways when thrown flat and straight. The Nate Sexton Firebird is one of the most popular discs of all time, aswell as my favorite BY FAR!

Wow is this disc legendary. I've used this disc for so many shots that really need to get around an obstacle right when it slows down. In time it makes itself go straighter and straighter but still gives me the reliable fade I am looking for. I have also used it for some serious spike hyzers over trees. I can't say it's bad for beginners, but they may love the Firebird for different reasons for lower arm speeds. It's a great all around driver that everyone should try out at some point.

The Nate Sexton firebird or SexyBird has to be one of the most famous discs I know of. This disc is insanely reliable, even on the most windy day, I know it is going to finish to the right. For the longest time I exclusively used this for forehands, it feels really nice in the hand so I can understand why Nate puts his name on it. This plastic is really the best plastic Innova makes, it has grip, it looks great, and it is VERY durable. I own many Sexton Firebirds and I don't think that is gonna change any time soon.

This disc has quickly become my go-to for forehand approach shots, or a disc that I need to throw off the tee which I can throw on an anhyzer, flexing it through the fairway and then trust it will fade hard and potentially skip up to the basket. Perfect for anyone who can throw anhyzer flex-shots, or just a disc to throw into a straight headwind that you don't want to turn, what-so-ever. Loving this addition to my bag.

I have a Sexton Firebird(2018) and a star Firebird that I bag. I will talk about both.

Sexybird: this is my workhorse FH driver. It's not my longest, but the lesser stability really let's you shape shots knowing that a Firebird fade will kick in. This disc is definitely more flexible than it's brethren.

Star FB: more stability, more fade, less distance. I've had more ace runs with this disc than any other. Very predictable, and not an outrageous amount of stability. On the right holes I just try to throw this one in.

What can I say about the Sexton Firebird that hasn't been said?  It starts off straight until the high speed starts to go down then it always fades.  I like this for skip shots, head winds, and when I need a reliable dumping fade at the end of my shots.  Most disc golfers should probably have one of these for a utility disc.

Only because I think everyone who plays has to throw and review a Firebird, here is mine. 1st I have the sexton 2017 tour series disc and the champion glow. The sexton is more stable than the glow. I never threw this disc, even with all the hype. I've taken some time to get to know the disc and can say it is no wonder why it is a classic. When I began playing I could never understand how anyone can get this to go anywhere but a simple hook. Over the past month, I have been working with it to get a nice flight out of it. The only reason I broke down is because I started playing disc at night and this was the easiest glow disc I could get. I also got a glow thunderbird but go with the firebird more often as it feels better in the hand and it seems to go further. If you need something overstable, there is a reason why so many of these have been made. Just give it a try.

My first overstable driver was a Flick, a choice which I would love to be able to ask my former self about. After that experience, I was just glad to be able to get the Sexybird to fly straight for any period of time. However, I did soon start to wonder whether I'd ever get any more than 250 feet with a massive fade out of it.

I've now decided that the low glide of this disc is for a reason: wind. This thing performs more predictably than almost anything I've ever thrown, no matter the conditions. If I need more glide and less fade, my Valkyrie works; for more glide and almost the same finish, I can turn up the speed with an X-Caliber. But for that dependable hook on restricted fairways, I trust my Firebird. This reliability also extends to overhand shots, though I now tend to throw my thumbers with less beautiful, cheaper discs.

As I develop better form and more arm speed, I'm confident that this disc will respond better to my attempts at flex shots, as long as I can get the height right. The Firebird clearly has a lot to teach.

The Sexton Firebird is one of the greatest discs ever created. From feel to flight, it does not disappoint one bit. The Champion Color Glow plastic feels great in the hand with the perfect amount of gumminess and stiffness. The flight is also unattainable by other discs. It flies very smooth before dumping at the end of it's flight with that predictable fade.

I've had plenty of shots with it where I have a bad release and throw it right at a tree and it just cuts in front of the trees. I have never thrown a disc that dodges so many trees before. Great get out of trouble disc and for any shot that needs to hook or get a skip.

I have the Sexton signature Firebird and, although I hear it is less beefy than the standard mold, it is still extremely overstable for my intermediate arm. If you are a slow arm looking for utility, try options in the midrange category for more control. However, for skips and shots that require some speed on the disc, it's hard to beat the venerable Firebird.

The 2018 Sexton firebird is the straightest yet.  I've been beating in my 2017 version for over a year now to be straight and the flight of the 2018 was identical out of the box.  This is a disc that could be used almost any hole forehand or backhand on anything from spike hyzers to turnover flex shots.  If you're looking for a beat in firebird flight out of a brand new disc then look no further than here.

This is a fantastic OS fairway/utility disc. I do not throw sidearm, but anytime I need a big skip or a hard, dumping fade off the tee I reach for my 18 Sexton Firebird. It's also a great utility, get out of trouble disc when getting around an obstacle is important. It also feels great in the hand, like just about all of Innova's speed 9 drivers.

Hands down one of my go to drivers. For me, I play a lot of my rounds RHFH flick for my drives and this is usually my go to driver for a controlled, reliable drive with distance. If I want it to fade more right at the end, I throw it flatter. If I want to maximize the distance on it, I flick it at a slight “/“  angle and it provides a predictable, consistent bend to the left and finish to the right.

I bag 3 firebirds (1 Sexton Firebird and 2 other Champion Color Glow that are more stable) and they are money for me! The reliable over stability of the firebird is great for forehands, hyzers, exaggerated flex shots, and especially overhands. I throw a lot of thumbers and with the firebird I get pin point accuracy and even great lines in the woods. The sexton firebird gives more glide and is great for flex forehands from 300-350 ft.

For beginners this would be purely a utility disc whereas advanced players will find the reliable stability useful on a variety of shots.

Recently picked up a new Sexton Firebird to go with my MF Firebird and my C-line FD3, and they work great together. There is some overlap between the FD3 and the Sexton firebird, but I just can't get either one of them out of my bag. I would say that the Sexton fire bird has a tad more glide than the FD3 or the MF Firebird.

Now to review the most hyped tour series disc each year, selling out in mere minutes when Sexton fanatics hear they're releasing. The Sexton Firebird quite honestly is its own mold now, comparing this to your normal production run Firebird is almost unfair mostly because this disc performs better in almost every way imaginable. The Sexton Firebird has a mostly flat but tiny dome to it and the rim is in the comfortable speed 9 range making it great for backhand (and obviously forehand). All Sexton firebirds come in the Champion Color Glow plastic, however this blend of CCG is a little softer feeling with some give and it weighs in at 175g.

The Sexton Firebird was conceived to service Nate's renowned forehand game, but it seems like each year's mold flies a little differently than the last. The 2018 model flies like a longer eagle with little to no turn in the highspeed portion of it's flight and then a nice hard hook at the end; ultimately it is probably the straightest flying firebird I have thrown to date. The Sexton Firebird this year is extremely serviceable back hand. I can pretty easily get it out around 350ft with almost a guarantee of no flip even with a decent headwind and a late hard dumping fade making it a disc great for throwing flat and hard and still offering good control. I generally do not rely on firebirds for much more than flat shots and occasionally spike hyzers for distance control. I haven't even bothered to throw it with anhyzer in my time of ownership. Forehand this disc goes quite far and honestly requires almost no flex at all, it is probably one of the straightest firebird's I have ever seen. The Sexton Firebird is also great for overhand shots offering big distance if you have the arm (and shoulder) to handle it.

The Sexton Firebird handles headwinds very well, it's overstability prevents it from flipping until you get into properly gusty conditions, it's tailwind performance may cause it to hyzer out early but it honestly was surprisingly good all things considered.

The Sexton Firebird makes for an awful beginner disc, it is quite overstable and can be a pain to replace given how the "collectors" market likes to gouge these. Granted if you are buying it solely for the utility this makes a great headwind driver.

Overall there is a reason why these discs are so sought after but I don't think anyone would be surprised to hear that. The Sexton Firebird is an excellent flying disc and one that should be in most peoples bags is it really any surprise? 5/5 stars suits this disc well for sheer number of things it does right.

I have the sexy Sexton Firebird. I was amazed at the way this disc flew. While yes, this disc is very overstable, it is much more "throwable" than my star firebird in my opinion. The 2016 Sexton Firebird seems to have a lot more glide in my opinion. I don't seem to have much trouble throwing this disc over 300 feet. I use the Sexton Firebird to throw a little longer overstable shots, while use my star firebird for shorter distance shots and finesse thumbers.

The Firebird is the go to disc in my bag for so many shots. I have the Sexyfirechicken as they are known, or more commonly the Sexton Firebird. These discs are fantastic and remain to be the only Innova disc in my bag. I throw almost exclusively Trilogy, but I could not replace these Firebirds. The flight on them is so consistent and the Colored Glow plastic feels great in the hand. Its a durable, yet grippy plastic that I really like.

While I say the Firebird is not beginner friendly, it is a disc that a beginner very well should have. The Firebird is a fantastic utility disc that can get out of a sticky situation when needed. One of the biggest things with the Firebird is how much it skips after coming in contact with the ground. While this can be frustrating watching just how much it decides to skip some days, utility wise it is great when you need a short shot you can throw onto some hard ground to flare up and take a huge turn. This shot has saved me many times in a few different situations and the Firebird is the disc I go to first for the shot.

Once you get practice with a Firebird you will also learn to control for/plan on the skip helping out rather than sending it clear off into a place you don't want to be. For shots you don't want to skip try to send the disc higher and spike in harder, and for those where a skip is okay just send it wider, I have skipped off the ground and hit the basket with a Firebird more than once because I wanted that kind of skip.

Great drivers, I definitely love them and do not plan on making a change to any other overstable fairway driver

I love both runs of the Sexton Firebird. The 2015 is my go-to overstable shot. The 2016 is even more overstable in my opinion. I picked it up because Nate Sexton is one of my favorite players, and I was looking for a solid overstable disc for forehand shots. This is exactly it. I love how flat it is - something I look for in a forehand disc. Awesome utility driver.

Nate Sexton Glow Firebird is a disc that I didn't know I was missing until I purchased one. I previously owned a flat top champion Firebird that was so overstable I only used used it for short spike hyzers when I needed to go around a tree or obstacle. The Sexton glow firebird is still stable but goes so much further than my flat top. Its a perfect disc to forehand when you need to get some distance out of your hand but will still finish with a hard hyzer. Love this disc!

I got this disc expecting it to be exactly like a regular Firebird (but also to support Nate Sexton). All I have to say is WOW this disc is amazing! It fits beautifully in my bag for when I need a good forehand or hyzer shot without going as far as my overstable destroyers. I like the really flat 2012 Champion Firebirds, and those are extremely overstable. I was missing a slot in my bag between the flat Firebird and my most overstable Destroyer. The Nate Sexton/Color Glow Firebird fits exactly in that slot. It has become a staple in my bag and I have had it less than a week! It is a fantastic wind fighter and is very dependable in windy conditions.

I have been playing for under a year and i initially thought that this disc would be too much disc for me. However, it is a staple in my bag now. This thing does exactly what it should no matter what the wind is. You can fire this disc directly towards water,OB, or a Forrest of trees and know that it 100% will start fading hard left towards your target. Aim this bad boy hard right (for RHBH) and it will 100% fade towards the target.I also drove it off the tee right into a gusting headwind and it laughed at it and bombed straight. I just recently started using this disc for forehand approach shots and it works great also. I have this in a Nate Sexton Glow edition and it is the best looking disc I have ever seen. Don't be afraid of this disc if you don't have a strong arm. Pick one up and have some fun with this meathook.
