Disclaimer: 75% of my game is forehand, so this review will be primarily geared towards those of you looking to purchase this as a forehand control/fairway driver.

I absolutely love this disc. I first purchased a Champion plastic Firebird about 6 months ago. It was 170 grams, which is a bit on the light side for me since I tend to feel more comfortable throwing 172g and up for my drivers. I immediately fell in love with the disc, as it provided a predictable flight path for my forehand fairway drives. The fade isn't as intense as some may have you believe, however, the Champion plastic skips BIG. While this wasn't necessarily a downside, it was a bit defeating when I would throw a laser to the basket, only to have it skip and roll 50 feet to the right (for my forehand drives). However, once I started throwing it on a slight anhyzer line, this disc became the most reliable and accurate disc in my bag.

AND THE STAR PLASTIC IS EVEN BETTER! I purchased a Star X-Out Firebird that was a bit heavier so that I could have a Firebird that performed a bit better in the wind. What I discovered is that while the Star plastic made the disc noticeably more "domey" as opposed to the flat topped Champion plastic, it still threw the same. The major difference though is that the Star plastic helps limit some of the massive skips that I got from the smoother Champion plastic. The sharper edges on the Star plastic coupled with the grippier plastic does a great job of catching the ground and limiting the distance of skips, making it even more accurate.

I strongly advise that any player who considers themselves on the higher end of the "beginner" spectrum and into the "intermediate" range consider bagging one of these in both Champion and Star plastic. It is a MUST for forehand players.

Bought a 169g Star X-Out Firebird from Infinite Discs.  I have no real business throwing this thing backhand (RHBH) except possibly for strong hyzer shots into stiff headwinds.   This is NOT a disc for "less powerful" throwers to attempt backhand shots.

However, I do find it to work very well for me as I learn how to throw forehand flicks.  It's consistent, shows me my mistakes when I make them, and gives me hope when I do get in a good flick and see it fly beautifully.
