I like the I-blend plastic its at a good price point with out diminished quality or durabliity..This disc was better than most understable disc. Put it on a slight hyzer and it flips out flat with lots of glide. It also handles forehand tork better than most understable disc.

This is for two first-run I-blend sphinx around 170g. Fantastic beginner driver as it starts fairly straight but loses stability quickly and holds at a hyzerflip-to-turnover level for a long while. For bigger arms it is fun to throw but will become a roller fairly quickly - completely different disc in other plastics.

This is great disc.  The I-Blend was cheap, but the plastic feels great!  I will have to see how it holds up.  The flight is great and I can chuck this thing as for as any of my discs for me.  9-10 is probably my max speed I should be throwing.  Out of the box did not fly as understable as numbers suggest, but that is likely due to my arm speed.  I was able to flip it up from hyzer and would reliable fade back.  Thrown flat it would turn and hold turn pretty well maybe will fade back a little, but if thrown anny it will not come back for be.  This disc with manipulating angles will give many useful shot shapes and great distance for moderately begginer arms.

I really wanted to love the Sphinx. In the hand, it feels great. Similar to the TSA Mantra in shape. I-Blend plastic seems good. No complaints about it whatsoever. I ended up with a 17th run I believe was what it said. Somewhere along those lines. I can get other discs in this range to flip up without issue but the Sphinx I had did not flip. If I wanted turn, I had to force it on some turn with anhyzer. Once I did, it would hold for a short while before starting to fade back center. I'd be willing to try out another Sphinx at some point. Just not what I was expecting.

I am in love with my Sphinx!  I love throwing this on a slight hyzer release and it pops right up with slight turn and a full flight.  The glide is amazing and it has quickly earned a permanent spot in my bag.  I feel like the flight number are accurate as published.

I did field work with this along with a dozen other discs, and the numbers seem about right to me, though maybe a 6 glide is being a bit over generous when I compare it with other similar discs, and it might not be quite a full -3 for those with more moderate power: The stability made it seem closest to a -2.5 disc I have than to either a -2, -3, or -3.5. In general, the Sphinx is really a great disc. The 9-speed might make it a bit overstable for some beginners, but even if so, I think they could easily work up to it before too long. It gives a great flight and compares well with others with similar flight numbers. I haven't had discs in I-blend plastic for as long as I've had some in Star- or Champion-type blends, so I can't say as definitively how durable this grade is, but so far my I-blend discs have been holding up well -- and certainly better than the base grades (thankfully I haven't been smacking them into trees and such), and it has a good, grippy feel and releases cleanly. The shiny metallic-like stamp on mine does make it hard to read the flight numbers.

*NOTE* I only give 5-stars out to discs that I bag and throw actively. A 4-star disc is great and may come in and out of the bag for me and I can see another player actively bagging it.

As a newer player, this disc was recommended to me and was one of my furthest-flying discs for a long time. As I got better and developed my technique and power, I gradually found myself reaching for my overstable high-speed drivers more and more and less for the Sphinx. As a player who has 450' of power, now I find myself throwing a Sphinx yet again. It's simply the perfect hyzer flip disc for maximum distance and control. Plenty of shot shapes that I didn't even realize I needed have opened up. Hyzer flip to flat with a soft finish. Hang this out to the left, watch it turnover, and finish right. The Metal Flake Glow is a touch more stable for those concerned about the understable nature of I-Blend plastic.

This is the best control driver replacement for the ace race heat. The ace race heat was the best of the heat and after throwing champ sidewinder, roadrunner flight # and pfn, nothing really compares... until now!

First throw with the Sphinx was very slight hyzer about 5ft off the ground. It looked like it had soooo much glide that the disc wasn't going to come back to earth and it ended up pretty far left.  5 rounds later and if I Throw it flat 4ft off the ground, it's straight as a luster jls but stays above earth a little longer.

Thrown flat with control it has about a -.5 turn with a .5 fade.

Thrown at my max power on a slight hyzer and it has about -2 turn with 0 fade.

This disc reminds me of a Discraft Heat, Innova sidewinder, and latitude 64 diamond. So given the great variety of plastics by Infinite Discs and the better price point, I would recommend this over the others. If your new to the game or have a weak arm, stay in the 150-160 gram range. Be careful if there's a headwind because things will go haywire. This disc has been in and out of my bag depending of the course, but still a great disc.

I got the Sphinx 163g and it quickly became my go to controlled driver. I have been playing for less than a year and I have a slower arm speed. I tend to release my drives on a slight hyzer which with the -3 turn on the Sphinx flips up to a straight drive for me. If I put a little more power on my throw I get the turn I need to get around trees without throwing a big hyzer shot. The glide on this disc is great when combined with the turn to give me extra distance with ease.

This is a great beginner disc and for those with slower arm speeds. I have put it on a slight anhyzer, RHBH, and it keeps that line well. If you are looking for a disc that will respond to the lines you put it on then this is a good disc for you.

I just got back into playing disc golf after only playing a handful of times in the last decade. I've did a ton of research on tons of disc to rebuild my bag. I'm 40 now and my arm is not what it used to be but I think I found my sweet spot with this speed 9 disc and that will be my starting point on future purchases. I'm throwing this disc constantly further than my wraith, both on forehand with a little anny while doing field work with virtually no bad throws. ( l might have been a little optimistic thinking I had the arm to throw a wraith)

I just played my first 9 holes with this disc and it was amazing, I threw it 3 to 1 compared to all my other drivers, the leopard 3 has been my most thrown disc and if I was to lose it I'm not sure I would replace it now?

If you are just starting, building your first bag, have lower arm speed, just planning on buying 2 or 3 disc, or just need a disc that can see its way around trees this is a must have disc.

Got an I-blend Sphinx (167g) with another order and took it out for a test flight, yesterday. Got in a few throws in the field and then played a round in which I drove with it once.

For an older dude with moderate arm speed, this thing was amazing. I threw one of the best drives I've ever thrown with this disc. RHBH with a bit of hyzer release and it flipped up beautifully and just kept on going. If it wasn't for that tree I hit... (stupid tree!).

Definitely would recommend this, though I think I'd like to see some more vibrant colors with the I-Blend plastic.

I love this disc.  An amazing entry level disc for slower arm speed players and continues to be versatile as you improve your game.  I would compare it to a leopard.  A disc that has great flight and distance as you learn and one that you can flip or roll for those shots where you don't want to pull out the side arm.  Super useful on all courses.  As you get a higher arm speed, just put some hyzer on this baby and she will fly straight for you.  I highly recommend this disc.

I got this disc several months ago and I still use it. It is a great glidy disc good for beginners and advanced. A beginner can get this to turn a little and an advanced thrower can put some stank on it and it will hold a long anny, but will not turn and burn! I sometimes use this disc on forehand to get it to turn left about 375' if i need to hit a gap and go far left.

The Sphinx is my most-thrown driver right now, in two plastics. The rim feels great in the hand for a backhand and I can hit a wide variety of shots between the two blends.

I Blend - run 8 - ~171g: I have seen five of these and they are all consistently extremely domey with a deep heartbeat. The I-blend plastic has a nice tacky feel and is pretty durable for a "pro" plastic. For players with slower arm speeds who max out at 9-speed, this is a sweet max-distance disc that will flip without too much power for a hyzer flip shot. Put enough mustard on it and it will glide right all the way without fading. For a power thrower this may be more like a roller disc, or a tool for long precision shots in the woods. I'd say the stability is pretty comparable to a Champion Sidewinder. Not quite as understable as a DX Sidewinder. The 6 glide is real; this thing GOES.

Metal Flake C Blend - run 10(?) - ~170g: True to other Metal Flake discs, and in stark contrast to the I-blend, this one is much much flatter. Not board-flat like a Buzz, but much flatter than you'd expect after you saw the I-blend. This has significantly less flip (-1 perhaps), and a reliable fade at the very end of the flight. It will flip to flat on a mild hyzer and ride out straight for quite a while before a mild fade. Very controllable, very predictable. This disc is for painting lines. You could maybe compare this to a Champion Valkyrie, with a little less flip and a little less fade. My favorite shot with this disc is a huge slow booming hyzer from an elevated tee, it holds a beautiful line. I chained out on a 300ft downhill shot on my first ever throw with it. Maybe not quite as much glide as the I-blend but still holds in the air very well.

    168g I Blend

Feel: Pretty domey, almost pop top, not my preferred profile for an understable fairway driver. Feels like a very domey valkyrie. I blend is a less rubbery feeling Star plastic. Just a little more firm but still grippy and quite durable.

    Distance: 300ish

Flight: TLDR nothing remarkable. Didn't click with me as much as other understable control drivers. Doesn't match the flight chart for me.

Backhand and forehand can both handle a good amount of power on all angles. Easy S curve and great if that is what you are looking for but a bit too overstable to be beginner friendly. I find it hard to be accurate because of this and I prefer a much straighter flight.

    Beginner: 8/10

    Intermediate: 9/10

Advanced: not sure in I blend, probably better suited in other plastics.

Still working on my form and getting a consistent flat and straighter throw. But have been seeing with disc where im at with my arm speed and i have got some big flex shots out of this. Very happy with the purchase of one and also all the infinite disc I've bought. Definitely my favorite driver right now. It has helped me focus more on form instead of force to get the best shot possible. I'm playing almost everyday i can. I was looking for a turnover disc that would hold that line, unfortunately, I can not get this disc to work that way. It flies pretty straight and has been one of my favs, but an avenger ss or dx Valkyrie are more dependably under stable for the rhbh turns. I don't doubt a stronger arm can make this disc work as intended. That being said, this has turned into my primary forehand disc and grab it multiple times during a round.

I've recently been switching from some of my favorite innova discs to the comparable offerings from infinite, and it all started with the Sphinx. This disc soars. As a fan of the sidewinder, I really enjoy the extra glide the Sphinx provides. As a low power thrower, I can throw this flat and get quite a bit of turn out of it before it fades back, something I had to force when using a sidewinder. Also, any disc I can throw in I-blend is a bonus. I-blend, or "hand candy" as I call it, is probably my favorite plastic of all the disc golf brands. I always bag 2 of the Sphinx and they are my workhorse driver whenever I'm on the course. Incredible disc for players with slower arms.

This disc has been an absolute game changer for me as a beginner.

I, like many newer players made the mistake of thinking that "bigger speed means more distance!". Once I broke myself of that line of thought I finally started making progress on my form and throws. After buying a metal flake C blend during black Friday (also my first disc from Infinite), I picked up an I blend Sphinx and immediately fell in love.

Many of my local courses are heavily wooded so being able to shape a shot with a dependable S curve has been critical and on open shots the glide has been fantastic.

I'd strongly recommend getting one of these as a dependable driver for a beginner and can be extremely helpful for advanced players as well.

The Sphinx for an experienced player could be either a great anhyzer disc, turnover disc, or a great disc to throw on hyzer flip to flat and it will just carries for days.

For a beginner/newer player this will be one of the best fairway/distance drivers, it's understability will make it a lot easier for newer players to help them gain more distance.

This disc out of the box is pretty flippy. Really comfortable in the hand. The glide on this disc is crazy. It gets sneaky distance. i throw this disc 350 to 380 feet. I mainly use this disc for hyzerflip shots. It flips up and rides to the right quite a bit but will fade out at the end of its flight. When thrown on anhyzer it will hold its flight for pretty much the entire flight it doesn't always come out of it. On a flat throw it will flip into a roller. I don't forhand this disc. For a newer player I could see this disc being straight to somewhat overstable, but it being in I blend it will get beat in fairly quickly and become a great disc for newer players.

I put this as very beginner friendly because I have only been playing for a few months now and it is hands down my favorite disc in my bag. Being understable makes it so consistent while throwing. When flicking this disc it flys straighter then any other disc in my bag. I have stated getting comfortable using it to get around corners and out of tricky situations and I have confidence in its flight pattern. I just bought another one to make sure I have two just in case I one goes missing in the woods or water. I highly recommend to anyone, it is my most thrown disc.

    I picked up 3 sphinx, 175g and 152 I blend and a 164g Cbend flake.

The 152 is an understable machine. I love this disc and can always trust it for reliable understable flight. Defnitly durable, this thing has taken some shots and still flies reliably. the Cblend and heavier I blend  have been a bit more stable than the 152. That may just be because I can throw the lighter disc harder ha.

Gave the 175 to beginner with super slow arm speed and she was able to get reliable straight flight and distance.

This was my first driver and I loved it so much. As my form improved, I saw it go from straight driver to hyper flip distance then finally to turnover or roller disc. It was a bittersweet moment when my form improved and I had to select another driver as my main driver. I absolutely loved throwing this disc. Highly recommended as first driver or nice turnover disc. Flies true to the numbers and great glide.

This is the first disc i could get up to 350ft. I feel like i have good speed and power for an amateur, but am still working on an efficient form. I can power this disc enough to get a good flex on it to allow max carry/glide.

I think beginners, or players with slower speeds, will be able to keep this disc flying straight for the majority of the flight with a light fade at the end.

This is a great disc.  I bought it expecting it to be a roller disc but I couldn't get it to turn enough in the air.  Maybe with time it will get a bit flippier.

Once I realized I wasn't gonna roll it over, I tried some tailwind shots and got great results.  The disc seems to stay in the air forever.  I had about 10 mph tailwind and threw a hyzer flip at about 60 percent power; the discs carried forward with a good "s turn" and eventually finished at 410.

The effortless distance is awesome.  With no tailwind however, this disc gave me a good right turn.  Even on hyzer, I got a good flip and glide.  The best part for me, the disc doesn't want to finish back left.  Whether it's big turnovers or low cieling flips, I can trust this disc.  It's a bit flippier than my go to leopard3 and has a ton more glide.

Great disc to disc down with tailwinds or bomb with little effort.

The I-Blend Sphinx is a great disc. I use this for distance shots where I need a little more turn and/or less fade than I can get from my Metal Flake Sphinx. When thrown with a bit of anhyzer this disc will hold the anny to the ground and pan out slightly or turn into a roller or throller depending on how much heght you give it. When thrown flat, this disc will turn right before panning at the very end of the flight. With mild hyzer and the disc will flip up to flat and then turn for the majority of its flight before fading slightly at the end. My favorite throws with this are long tailwind drives and right turning flights that need to stay right.  Like my Metal Flake Sphinx, I can get really great distance (for me) with this disc on a solid pull. The I-Blend Plastic is a little stiffer than epected, but still seems fairly grippy and durable it seemly like a stiffer Pro. The I-Blend is a bit less stable out of the box and a good complement to the Metal Flake and beats in to a really great utility disc.

Note: I play at elevation (~4500'), so YMMV.

This disc (got in a mystery box) was initially one of my favorites, but since it's been beat in, it just refuses to turn unless i really force it, which is kind of missing the point. I still throw it often, but just had to order a new one to get back to the original flight ratings, because when I first got it, had some super shots and was very reliable. Try it out! Just try to avoid the trees! lol

When I first started throwing the Sphinx I loved it. As it slowly started to beat in, and my arm improved, it got flippy and more difficult to control. Eventually it came out of my bag. Smash cut to recently. I haven't been playing much and wanted something easy to throw until I get back into shape. I bought two I-blends and a Splatter S-blend in different weights and I am loving them! The 160-class I-blend is flippy and can only be used in a tailwind. The upper-160g and the MF Glow C-blend are awesome! Great distance and fairly easy to control. I'm glad I got back to throwing them again. Yes, I see a day when the heavier ones are the only ones I can control, but I can still find a use for them as big turnover discs.

This disc is amazing. The fact that each blend adds to detracts from each molds stability is also great. This allows me to cover alot more slots in my bag with the same mold just in different blends. The I blend i the least stable of any currently in production and I have 2 in this blend, one 168, and another max weight. In this blend the 168 is super flippy! I can standstill/ 1 step hyzer-flip this into a roller at full power.  But that same throw powered down can sculpt some great lines through the woods. The max weight has amazing distance when given enough room to work. I have thrown this 360 and then some. This will  finish right of starting point by a good margin, and will turnover in a head wind. This disc has helped me learning how to throw fairways far with very little effort. The stabilityies of the G line MF really help me cover several shots and I carry all 3 every day. possibly my favorite disc in recent years.

I quickly and often reach for the Sphinx when I need to flex around long-range obstacles (that is, trees) or for long-range glide and yet need to end straight way down the fairway. Hyzer flip will send this disc straight with slight fade at the end. With more power, hyzer flip gives some turn with reward of huge glide resulting in satisfying distance. Anhyzer will keep its turn with little or no fade at the end. I use lighter weights (mid-160 grams) with tail winds and heavier weights (max-175 grams) into head winds; this mold seems to handle well that way. I-Blend works well for summer and G-Blend is excellent for winter (Wisconsin). In addition to standard quality discs, I have X-Out discs that I use for when I travel. However some of those X-Outs make my primary bag because they fit a niche so well for me.

This disc is such a staple for me that when I lost my 1st Run I-Blend Sphinx last year to a pond, I quickly ordered up another 1st Run I-Blend from Infinite Discs. I have subsequent runs as well (Run 2 in I-Blend & Run 3 in G-Blend). I plan to explore the Metal Flake Glow C-Blend soon.

This was my first and only disc that I got a hole in one with.  I can throw it RHBH or FHFH and still get a good amount of distance on it with a slower arm speed.   I got it in the g-blend 175 g.  It’s a good disc to get distance and good control for beginners.

    Another great disc by Infinite.

This is a great distance driver for beginners.  If you are just starting out and don't have the arm for something else you will not be disappointed by this disc.  It has enough turn that you can get it to flat very easy and then let it get a beautiful S-curve before coming to rest.

For myself, I put it between my F5 and my saint.  It's something that I can throw hard and get a great turn over but not roll or slow down and get a full flight out of the disc.

You will not be disappointed by using this disc.

I love this disc! I don't have the biggest arm and I have been searching for something that I can get to flex a little without having to force over on an anhyzer line and the Sphinx is it! I have bagged Valkyries for several years and I like them but there are days that I just can't get them to go like I would like and the Sphinx has proven to be the solution. I can get this disc out flat or on a small hyzer, it will flip to flat, turn just slightly, cruise and then finish right back in line. For a bigger arm I am sure this disc would be a roller but for me it is a perfect distance driver!

This disc is what I always wanted premium plastic Valkyries to be. This is a full flight driver for the 300' arms of the world.

This disc definitely has a significant amount of turn out the box but always felt controllable. And, on a clean throw with plenty of room, the Sphinx will finish. It certainly doesn't have a hard fade but it will come back some on a flat throw.

The I-blend plastic really takes a beating.  As a new player, I bang a lot of trees and this disc is holding up nicely.  After seeing the abuse this can take, I also added an Infinite Discs  Chariot and Pharaoh to my bag.  I can get a nice S-curve out of it even though my arm speed is low.  I would call it more of an 8 speed and 5 glide.  I also throw a Witness, which seems to glide farther than the Sphinx.  Very comfortable grip for my small hands; also not too slippery when wet.  It's fairly light (159g) which helps with my low arm speed, but I'm wondering if I'll have to move up in weight eventually.

I never liked understable discs because for me they were always unpredictable and I never felt confident throwing them... until now. The Sphinx's glide allows the disc to either flip over quickly into a roller, or if thrown into the air the disc comes back after a long anhyzer flight. This disc can also be utilized for tunnel shots that fade out lightly, especially if you throw with a natural hyzer anyway because the disc does the work for you on this one. All beginners should bag this disc so they can see how they're getting better as they see the disc go from being slightly stable, to straight, to anhyzer, to a roller for them.

This disc is a great understable fairway driver. This disc is very understable but is still controllable. It is great for rollers and long turnover shots. I use this disc mostly for utility shots because I can rely on it to follow the lines I put it on. My wife has also been throwing a lighter weight version and has had a lot of success with it. I highly recommend this disc to pros looking for an understable utility disc or beginners looking for an easy throwing distance driver.

This disc flies far and is so smooth.  The I-blend plastic feels great, and I feel like it is just as durable as some of my star plastic discs that I have.  I've never been a power player, and my backhand distance is definitely lacking, but this disc has definitely changed that.  This disc gets some easy distance and it doesn't require an immense amount of power to get that beautiful S-flight.  I primarily throw forehand, which is where I get most of my longer distance shots, and this disc actually can be flicked for a nice straight shot.  Obviously you have to watch the angle of realease and not overpower the disc on the flick, but when done right it flies nice and straight.  That is a shot that I have been working on, and which I hope will come in handy on the courses I play.  Overall, this is a great disc, and it is an even greater disc for a beginner looking to throw their first driver!

When I got my Sphix in the mail as part of Team Infinite, I'll have to admit, I wasn't too excited about the description. But boy was I WRONG.

I really like this disc, and it was amazing for the woods. I tend to release everything on a slight hyzer on my backhand release. This disc quickly became my hyzer-flip in the woods, and a great one at that. Even when I would put some power on this disc, it would flip up, ride a little bit to the right before very gently finishing flat, or fading ever so slightly back to the left (RHBH). It felt great in my hand with the smaller rim, and I had some great control even when throwing it 60-70%.

I've only thrown a few Sidewinders in Champion plastic, and this wasn't near as stable (in my opinion). This is a great discs from Infinite Discs. Give it a shot!

The sphinx has replaced the roller spot in my bag, or big turnover shots. It reminds me a bit of the sidewinder, and is predictably understable. This is the perfect disc to practice a hyzer flip with, because it loves to flip up, and turn to the right where it finishes its flight. The rim is a good feel, and not too wide. This disc has a TON of glide, and if you have a pretty good tailwind then bye bye. Forever glide time. I'm curious to see how other plastic molds of the sphinx will fly.

Flies very similar to a Prodigy H5. It's a turnover driver or roller disc. Flies closer to numbers than Innova's sidewinder or Roadrunner. If you have issues being able to turn those over, buy the Sphinx. It's a great disc. If you're a big arm, it's probably only useable as a roller disc.

This is the driver i wish I had started playing disc golf with. Instant distance for a beginner, and a long, fun disc for shot shaping for an intermediate guy like myself. The i-blend plastic is my favorite blend I've used. I'm a huge fan of stiff driver pro which has become too hard to come by; i-blend is just about perfect for me. The sphinx is a speed 9 but has the same rim size as a speed 7 disc, like the FD and TL, so it's going to feel smaller and controllable. The glide is unreal, it just keeps going! Similar glide to a g-line fd. At 165g this disc is flip city and is borderline exclusively a roller for me unless I have a tailwind. At 175g this disc is a hyzerflip and s-curve machine. Flies like a slower but glider in nova beast. Cannot recommend this disc enough.

I will keep this short and sweet i love this disc for a very specific purpose finishing left without worrying about it rolling. I can really put some arm into this disc and it doesn't like to turn and burn, it likes to leak out right ( i throw rhbh) and just holds that slight leak for its entire flight for me when thrown flat and hard.  so when i  need a really consistant slight right finish. If you air it out you can shape really nice lines with a slight late finish to the left if it has the room to work. Try it out you might just fall in love like i did.. its the only disc in my bag not made by my go to manufacturer, its that good.

I'm a older person with slower arm speed. I only throw 150 class discs, and about 95% of my bag is trilagy. I have been looking for a disc for years that would turn for me. I have tried so many different US discs from many other disc company's without finding what i was looking for. So i decided what the heck and bought a sphinx to try in 149g. i use this on every shot needing to turn, and very pleased with the results from this disc. The only issue i have with it is i bought it in purple and have spent much time looking for it. its been stuck in trees, buried in bushes, and always seem to come home with me.

I picked up a Sphinx becaues I was looking to try to learn a BH roller.  I ended up usimg it for hyzerflip turnovers as well as for trying (and failing) to learn the BH roller.  I don't know exactly how to describe the I-Blend plastic, except as the best mid grade plastic out there.  The Sphinx is actually US out of the box, unlike what can happen with similar US drivers such as the Roadrunner and Sidewinder, but I think that has to do with the plastic (DX Roadrunners would be awesomely US), but only a C-Blend run would tell for sure.  When I had thrown out my shoulder playing dodgeball 12 hours before a round, I leaned on the Sphinx for easy distance.  My father who only throws about 260' was able to see close to 300', and as a result was trying to get mine off of me, I'm going to order him his own.  The Sphinx is the perfect step beginning distance driver, or a perfect step up from a Leopard especially in terms of flight (I bag both).

I've been throwing this for a week now and I really enjoy it. This disc will hold its line. Put it on a bit of an anhyzer and it will move left to right until the very end of its flight with a little fade at the end to prevent any cut roll (RHBH). Put it on a hyzer and it will stand up then hyzer. I've gotten pretty good distance out of this disc with its relatively high speed/glide for a control driver. The only hesitation I had with this disc was the I-Blend plastic. It felt a little weird to me at first. It seems a little more slippery and stiff compared to Star plastic. However, I got used to it pretty quick and it doesn't bother me. Overall great disc reminds me of a Saint.

The Sphinx is a great disc for beginners or someone with lower arm speed. For lower arm speed players this disc will go pretty straight even a little turn to it. I use the Sphinx as a big distance roller and a utility disc. When thrown hard and flat I get a max distance roller angle out of it, with a hyzer release I get it to flip to flat then ride out to the right (RHBH) for the duration of the flight. Overall the sphinx is a great disc for beginners and an amazing roller for higher speed arms.

I had the pleasure of receiving one of the prototype Sphinx's, in the new I-Blend plastic. The plastic blend is somewhere between Innova Star and Pro, it is super grippy but not floppy like G-Star. It feels great and provides that controlled grip you'd want in a fairway driver.

The disc itself feels like a cross between a Roadrunner and a Sidewinder, a medium sized rim and understable feel in the hand. This thing will be a hyzer-flip to turnover machine for those with faster armspeeds, and also a fantastic roller disc! Personally, I used this disc for ridiculous forehand trickshots and backhand rollers. Super fun disc to throw! For the player with a slower arm, this disc will be a great straight driver which could become your go-to in most situations. The glide is incredible, and it will not disappoint!

I highly recommend this disc for all players due to its versatility!

Infinite Discs has hit a grand slam home run with this disc.  It looks like a Roadrunner bottom and Valkyrie top, and performs like the best of both of those molds.  Feels great in the hand, really comfortable.  The I-blend plastic is not Shimmer Star or GStar, but feels like Star, or perhaps Pro that almost made it to Star, if that makes sense.  But it's the performance that is so awesome;  it has tremendous glide and distance, especially for its speed class.

I get a good controlled turnover on flat throws.  I hyzerflipped it for a tight tunnel shot through the woods, and the Sphinx flew dead straight right down that narrow tunnel.  I've had a ton of other great hyzer flip shots, as well.   I have not yet tried it as a roller (the grass on my home course is not cut low enough to try one yet), but I suspect it's going to do well as a roller, also.

I believe that relative beginners and noodle arms (like mine) will do very well with the Sphinx, whether as a driver or a fairway/control driver.  Again, Infinite Discs has really knocked it out of the park with this addition to its lineup.

First of all the I-Blend plastic feels great in the hand.  If you've thrown Innova plastic, I would say it falls somewhere between Star and Pro.  The rim is very comfortable in my smallish hands, and has a familiar 8-10 speed rim feel.  Thrown with power (RHBH) this disc will turn right, hold the line with lots of glide and settle nicely to the ground. It didn't turn into a throwller, or turn and burn when powered up a bit.  With full power this is a nice hyzer flip disc for wooded holes or can be used as a roller. I find the symmetry in the rim/flight plate makes it excellent for rollers, and reminds me a bit of the Roadrunner in that way.

As a backhand dominant player who struggles forehanding, it has made dogleg rights a lot easier for me.  Rather than risk my forehand, I've been able to throw this disc backhand with confidence and have been getting nice results. It earned a spot and in doing so filled a large gap in my bag.

Beginners will get easy distance out of this disc and really enjoy the extra glide of the I-Blend plastic.  It will be a disc you grow with, but don't outgrow. At any skill level you will be able to find a slot in the bag for this disc. Another versatile release from Infinite.  Definitely worth a try, especially for the low price.

    Rollerrrrr!

When I first heard about the Sphinx I was super excited to weigh it against my current turn-over disc, the leo3.

When I got my team proto I quickly learned that there was no comparison. The Sphinx is very understable, and significantly faster than a leo3. I didn't like it and it's because I wanted it to be something else. It threw it in the car for a week or two and then pulled it out one day when I wanted to practice rollers. I rolled it 520ft. By accident. Now it's in my bag!

I wanted a turn over disc for the woods, but what I got was the best roller disc I've ever owned! This disc is fantastic roller for low ceilings due to it's understablity. You can rip hard and flat and get it over on edge for a roller. You can also get KILLER distance rollers because you can really pump it out high and get it down on edge wayyy down the fairway for really late landing rollers.

I also let my buddy who's a novice play with the Sphinx and he loves it for big S shots and all out bombs. Great distance for a slower arms speeds with out having to get into those finicky high speed, understable drivers.

I recommend this disc to everyone, give it a chance!

I've thrown trilogy discs for the past 4-5 years and have been in love. I slowly ended up all trilogy over the years and had no complaints. That being said, I won the sphinx in an online give away. Gave it a try at my home course today and instantly fell in love. It has an amazing hand feel, has a great flight, and the I-blend plastic just feels great. I used it on 4 holes when I needed a nice S line and it just followed the fairways like it was on zip line. Really looking forward to trying more infinite discs as this will become a staple to my bag. Thank you for opening my eyes to a new company, y'all just made a huge fan out of someone who wouldn't have tried it out on my own, thanks again for disc.

This disc is a great choice for almost any skill level. I use it for carving lines through the woods and for big turnover shots, as well as tailwind drives. Has excellent glide and for newer arms is a a reliable driver that will carry a good distance. Good complement to the exodus they released not too long ago. Definitely found a spot in bag and kicked out current understable fairways.

Dang, the Sphinx is great! At max weight this thing is still flippy, but very controllable! I just throw it at 50-75% power and it just goes and glides for days and days. Perfect for long turnovers, or if thrown soft enough, great straight distance.

This disc will REALLY excel in a beginners hands, I now recommend it to all of my friends who are starting out. Get a lightweight 150 Sphinx and let it soar. The glide really helps people get extra distance.

Of course this won't be my go-to distance driver, because I throw the Pharaoh for that, but this is the perfect, workable, understable fairway that I didn't even know I was missing.

The I-Blend plastic is amazing as well, it feels like a little gummier star, but not quite Gstar levels. It's quite durable and just feels great in the hand. This really is the perfect disc for beginners and advanced players alike!

    Yellow 175g I-Blend Sphinx

The Infinite Discs Sphinx is definitely an understable beauty. It has similar feel, and flight to the Discmania TDx. The I-Blend plastic is really good; nice and grippy and has some decent durability. The Sphinx would be great for beginners or advanced players alike. Definitely could be a go to roller disc for you if you like a Sidewinder or Roadrunner in that spot. Great job Infinite team! Looking forward to the next release!

This disc is a great thrower for all levels.  A beginner will be able to throw and get more aggressive with it.  A seasoned player will love the touch and usability of this disc.  Crazy glide.  Only draw back is it's too flippy for wind play.  But what it's made to do it does quite well.  My favoritie thing about this disc though is the feel in the hand, very comfortable.  Def a disc you'll want to try out.

    A TRUE beginner's disc!

A lot of times, the phrase "beginner's disc" is just code for wicked flippy and glidey. The problem with many such discs is that a player outgrows them very quickly. Luckily, the Sphinx is here to fill that gap.

The rim feels great in the hand, and the I-Blend plastic is grippy and durable. The Sphinx is what I like to call "deliciously understable" as it wont flip all the way over on you, which gives it pretty good distant. With a small degree of hyzer, the Sphinx will flip to flat, do a little wiggle to the right, hold straight for most of the flight, then have a small amount of fade. This is a highly useful shot for tight, wooded courses. I cannot dial the Sphinx in forehand, but I also dont have a smooth forehand. Beginners may find this a good disc for forehand, though. The Sphinx also makes a great roller disc!

Wow what can I say... This disc has been a fantastic addition to my bag. Incredible feel in the hand and amazing distance. It was a bit more stable than I thought it would be but I'm betting that will change after a good beat-in. This disc really shines for me on long flex drives and straight line drives. I had decent luck throwing the 175g in the wind as it didn't turn over for me at all. All the reviews are spot on, you need this disc in your bag. Buy it now.

One of the most beginner friendly drivers on the market!

That doesn't mean that more experienced players should shy away from it though. This disc is great for tightly wooded shots, hyzer flips, big anny's, and rollers. Extremely controllable.

The I-Blend plastic is nice and soft and has a great grip to it. If you're looking for and understable fairway driver, look no further.

WOW!!! What an incredible disc! After the first throw with this disc, I became a huge fan! Just another amazing addition to the Infinite lineup. I tried this disc on a variety of shots on different angles of release and different speeds. The understability of this disc mixed with the speed allows you to execute many shots at many different distances. This disc would be a great beginner driver and a great utility disc for a more experienced player. With a similar flight to a Roadrunner or Heat, what separates this disc is its glide.

When thrown with about 60% power on a hyzer angle, this disc would pop up to flat and glide for days on a straight line with minimal fade at the end. With that power and angle, I was able to get this disc around 380 feet. When thrown around 90-100% power on a hyzer, this disc would flip up, hold a strong turn, and slowly fight out at the end. At this power, the disc flew about 415 feet.

All in all, this disc will be a staple in my bag for left to right shots and also for long wooded holes. With the ability to make this disc work on different angles and speeds, I can execute a wide variety of shots with a single disc. I highly recommend everyone pick up a Sphinx.

I think I have just fallen in love with a new understable disc! The Sphinx is awesome. I tested the Sphinx in 4400' elevation with little to no wind. I think this is an amazing understable driver due to the incredible amount of glide that it has. My first throw with the Sphinx was a 475' downhill shot with a low hanging ceiling. After throwing what I thought was a perfect hyzer-flip shot, it started taking off to the right and kept holding so long I thought it was going into the creek on the right side of the fairway. After slowly panning out, I ended up about 50 feet short and right of the 475' pin. Considering I put about 60% power on the disc, I was so surprised that it went SO FAR.

I think this disc is perfect for an understable utility disc in tightly wooded courses. If I were using this disc on a more wide open course, I doubt I would use it for anything other than huge anhyzers, rollers, and tailwind drives. In the woods, this disc is great because it will stay up in the air for a long time, making it great for low ceiling technical shots.

Overall, the Sphinx will be greatly considered when building my bag for a tournament as my understable disc. I rarely throw understable discs since I have both a strong forehand and a strong backhand, but when I do I pick the Roadrunner or the Leopard. Even though this disc has the same speed as the Roadrunner, the increase in glide makes the Sphinx feel slower. So on courses where I can't decide between the Leopard and the Roadrunner, the Sphinx will be the choice because it fits right in between.

I have found my soul mate.  You know, until I find the next one.  =)

This is weird for me to say because I rarely threw understable fairways before the Sphinx stole my heart.  I kept a River in my bag as a utility disc.  If a Renegade was too much and a Deputy too little, I broke out the River, blew the dust off, and gave it a toss.  The Sphinx has changed that.

Now, I look for excuses to throw the Sphinx.  In fact, to solve the dilemma of trying to decide if the Sphinx can take the place of a possibly better suited disc for a certain shot, I've been playing rounds with just the Sphinx and a putter.  Problem solved.  And I've already thrown an ace and hit several baskets with the Sphinx which obviously tightens the bond between us.

I suppose I should try to describe its flight.  On that topic, the first thing I have to mention is the glide.  This disc is ground-aphobic.  It likes to fly.  It doesn't want to sit in my bag.  It begs to be thrown and when I throw it, it stays in the air as long as it possibly can.  The first day I had it, I went to the field and compared it with the River and a Saint, both of which have a reported glide of 7.  The Sphinx has noticeably more glide than both of them.

The Sphinx has more turn than fade but I rated the turn at -2.  That will obviously change when the disc gets beat in but for now, I can throw it fairly flat, get quite a bit of turn but still a bit of fade for a flex-ish shot that ends to the right.  When throwing an annie, it holds that turn for a long time.  It might flatten out if it has enough height.  The turn is low enough or the fade is high enough that it tries not to end up being a cut roller.  It's great for long, straight hyzer flips that have very little fade at the end.

I picked up a lighter one (155 g) to play around with and it probably has a turn of -3.  When I turn this lighter one over, it's going to hold that turn for the entire flight.  If you don't throw it on a hyzer, you're going to get a roller.  If there is a head wind, that hyzer angle will need to be close to 90 degrees and it's still probably going to turn over.

Bag-worthiness: Do I even need to say?

The Sphinx turned out to be a great understable driver. It has a comfortable rim (not too wide) and releases very smoothly. The I-Blend plastic is a lot like Innova Star (Infinite S-Blend) but is slightly more flexible. It really feels nice and holds up well after frequent use. I have two Spinx discs. My max weight Sphinx is actually pretty stable. I can throw it very straight and it still has a gentle end-fade, even when I don't hyzer-flip it. It can hold an anhyzer line all the way through, which is how I primarily use the disc. Since I've always had a weak forehand flick shot, this kind of disc becomes by go-to for any throw that needs to go to my right (I throw right hand backhand). But it is stable enough that I can really keep great control without needing to put too much heat on the disc. So I use that max weight for anhyzers and for threading the needle on straight shots.

My other Sphinx is 164g and at that weight is a bit more undestable for  me. So I use it mostly for sharper right hand turns. It doesn't come back after making that understable turn. It could be used as a roller, if i were more confident with rolling. I can't keep the lighter weight Sphinx straight like I can my max weight version, so I feel like I simply must have them both in my bag.

The lighter weight Sphinx drivers would be absolutely awesome as beginner drivers. They are easy to throw and don't require a lot of power. I would even give the discs in the 150's to kids as starter discs to give them a feel for drivers. But the max weights are great even for experienced players who want consistent straight-to-understable flight.

I first tested the Sphinx on an open field and absolutely loved it. This disc is a great understable, utility type disc. The I-Blend feels amazing (a slightly more gummy/grippy Star feeling blend) and the price is awesome. It flies similar to my Hatchet from Westside Discs. It's super fun to throw and can do a little bit of everything.

I was testing the Sphinx at sea level, in an open field with a little wind. When I first started I was throwing it pretty casually, but getting great distance. Between 40-60% it flips and glides great. At this lower power, released on a hyzer, it will flip up but still eventually finish left. Thrown flat it gave me a great "S" flight with good distance. On an anhyzer it mostly turned and burned, unless I gave it a lot of height.

Once I bumped up the power, things got really fun. Thrown on extreme hyzer (most hyzer angle I could throw with, while still being comfortable) it would pop up flat, have a super late turn that it would hold for a very long time before flattening out just a bit. Throws like this with a little more height would just barely fade back at the end. On this hyzer, I was throwing the Sphinx between 370' - 420' most throws. Thrown flat it would roll, but mostly cut out. Thrown flat with enough height, it would give a great "S" flight, and decent distance. With a little anhyzer, as a roller, this disc was great. It stands up pretty fast, and I had the most success giving it more time in the air before hitting the ground and rolling. I had a couple rollers around 450' which is pretty decent distance for me.

    I would rate this disc 9 6 -2.5 1

Overall, this disc was super fun to play around with on an open field. It's pretty flippy, but not so much it can't be utilized for some really great shots. It would fill an understable utility slot in my bag. For the price-point, and quality/feel of the plastic, it's hard to beat.

The Sphinx was, in all honesty, the disc I’ve absolutely been looking for. For me, it was a 9 6 -3 1. Personally, I am a natural hyzer thrower so I love being able to rip a disc on hyzer and have it flip up and glide forever. That’s exactly what the Sphinx does. It was an absolute bomber for me and was flying further than any of my high speed distance drivers ever could. I would recommend it to anyone looking for something to add distance and glide, but who doesn’t have the fastest arm. I can already tell this disc will be a work horse for me.

This disc can be a compliment to anyone's bag, regardless of skillset. It feels great in the hand right away (always a good sign). The rim is not too wide or narrow, it feels just right. I am an advanced player and absolutely love this thing. I like it for super long hyzer flips that finish right to straight and it is now my go-to roller. The plastic blend is superb! Amazing grip and durability. I'm excited to see where my roller game goes from here!

Pros: reliable understand flight path. Great blend of plastic. SO. MUCH. GLIDE. Great for rollers, hyzer flips, late turnovers, and hyzer turnovers.

    Cons: haven't found any yet.

The Sphinx is my new favorite disc and I-Blend is my new favorite plastic. To me I-Blend plastic is like a slightly softer version of Latitude 64 Tournament. It's nice and grippy so I don't release early and get a nice snap out of every throw. This disc seems to glide so far with just moderate power throws. I first tested it out while playing practice rounds for the Las Vegas Challenge. Multiple times I threw light "test throws" while waiting for the group in front of us to clear the basket, but my light throws went way too far and we had to yell fore. The Sphinx is an ideal distance driver for newer players trying to reach 300 feet of total distances, especailly in lighter weights.

I've thrown this disc in multiple weights. In the lighter it is, the more understable it gets. In the ultra light weights it is really flippy and will turn right and not come back with a backhand throw at all. In heavier weights at a slight hyzer release the Sphinx glides almost perfectly straight for about 300 feet and then has a very moderate fade. Even though it's not a "distance driver", I'm consistently able to push the Sphinx out to about 350 feet.

If you're a new player looking for a disc that will give you more distance, I highly recommend the Sphinx. For experienced players, this disc provides excellent distance for a nice straight flight on a moderate smooth release. It's also great for backhand throws that you want to hold an anhyzer line and keep right.
