The Buzzz is a great disc but has unfortunately grown so popular that it has become the "hammer" for every disc golf "nail". The Buzzz is a go-to "hold-every-line" disc and is recommended for every player from beginner to world-class. However, it didn't work at all for me. Don't let me scare you away from buying it, but let me at least share my experience with it in case yours is similar.

I bought the legendary Buzzz thinking it would replace the M3's I was currently throwing. Several of my regular cardmates throw and love the Buzzz so I was eager to try it out myself. However, there were two significant issues that I think are often overlooked that led to the Buzzz dropping out of my bag. First, the Buzzz is a fast "5" speed I regularly used to scare baskets I would have never thrown a mid at before. The speed, however, was more of a blessing than a curse. It ultimately meant that I didn't really feel comfortable using it in many places besides the tee-pad, which was a drastic change from my previous mids which I would throw all over the course. Second, I had an issue with this disc's "threshold" and lower glide. The Buzzz's speed means that it needs a bit of juice to get it up to flat from hyzer. If you miss it, this disc is hyzering all the way to the ground. This compounds with the lower glide to mean that a missed release with this disc is super punishing. In the end, I thought that the Buzzz was pretty touchy and filled a spot in my bag I didn't really need or want.

Now who would I actually recommend the Buzzz to:

First, beginners. This is like a top three disc for beginners to start with once they surpass putters, especially for players who don't want to buy a lot of discs. Second, people that throw hard. Now I don't mean long throwers, I mean people that release every shot with a lot of smoke behind it. If you regularly struggle with turfing or turning over mids, this might be perfect for you. Third, people with flat releases. This is a great mid for people who want a hyzer-flip shot from a flat release disc. Fouth, people who don't like fairways. If throwing driver south of a 9-speed makes you nervous then you will adore the Buzzz. Fifth, people who don't like beaded midranges. There are lots of other reasons but these are the ones that came to mind first.

The Buzzz lives up to its name as a staple midrange for all levels of expertise. I'm a relatively newer player and having this disc in the bag works wonders teaching me both what I am doing right and what I could improve upon. The flight path and numbers have proved to be true in the number of times I've brought this disc to the course. A few words of wisdom though for those interested in the Z midnight plastic: if you plan on using this disc often, I would advise choosing a brighter color. This disc looks sick... when I can find it out in the field.
