The Stego is a massively overstable utility disc. If you need a midrange that fades fast and fades hard, then this is the disc for you! It would be difficult to find another disc designed for such sharp and dramatic curves and virtually no glide.

A great gag gift. That's about it. You will never see this disc make a major professional event highlight reel. It has no glide so the stability is useless. It just wants to eat ground. I love the idea of super overstable disc, unfortunately those discs tend glide like how a turtle runs. If you have a disc golf collection, you need this disc. If you are starting out and looking for discs to make the bag cause they are useful, well this disc might prove useful once every 50 outings on one specific shot selection. Oddly enough I can putt with this disc fairly well.

So I will start by saying I love overstable discs. The Firebird is probably the most used disc in my bag so I was really looking forward to the Stego. Unfortunately I must have gotten a dud. It is not very overstable or at least not as much as I was expecting. This disc is not meant for distance but throwing with mid range power I can easily throw it 150ft with the flight path relatively straight to slight hyzer and a moderate fade at the end. The Croc is much more overstable as is a Pig. The feel in the hand is good and the tar pit plastic is very rubbery. I do use it as a putter any where I need it to sit and stick if I miss and it does that very well. It is mildly affected by the wind. I really wanted to like the Stego but it just didnt quite get there for me. It is not a bad disc but mine didnt live up to the numbers so it has gone into the practice putter pile. As a side note I have a friend who bought one recently and his flies similar to mine. It has a lot of good reviews so give it a try, just dont expect pure beef.

There are few discs out there today that aren't extremely similar to other molds. The Stego is truly one of a kind. It is comically over stable, it dumps instantly out of the hand and sticks where you throw it. It is more over stable the faster you throw, I didn't believe the reviews but when you throw it it's absolutely true. It's an absolute savior of a disc when you're in trouble and need a reliable sharp angle to get out of the woods or cut an aggressive corner. Everybody that sees the flight asks me what it is and where they can get one. It's such a great disc, get one and have some fun with it!

This disc is amazing! You definitely need this in your bag! The stegie can do it all! Put a good anhyzer on this disc and watch the magic! You really want to throw it like a roller. This disc will cut back beautifully! If you are stuck behind a tree don't fear Stegie will save you! The overstable of this disc is crazy! Forearm this to a fun roller disc as well. This baddie is a great disc! If you are new to disc golf do not pick up this disc!

I always hear this disc is so overstable that it's unusable, but that is not the case. This disc is probably the most fun disc I have in my bag. It won't go far, which is part of why it's so great. The tarpit plastic is nice in the sense that it stops the disc from skipping too much, but I handed this to my buddy to try out and he of course hit the first available tree and  dented the disc pretty good. Still flys the same. 5/5 fun disc.

The Stego....what an absolute masterpiece of a utility disc. I have had more throw-in shots with the stego from the 80-100 foot range than any other utility I've owned (forehands pretty much exclusively). Sometimes a disc like a harp or a zone just don't fade out when you want it to or not as drastically as I'd like. It is definitely a disc you have to get used to but once you do and you learn the angles it's a short game workhorse. I feel more comfortable doing a forehand flick/putt from just outside of circle 2 + than some weird awkward jump putt that I know prob won't make it there. It's is so OS but reliable time after time. Not for everyone but won't leave my bag EVER!

    Plastic: Tarpit

    Weight: 176g

Feel: Tarpit is a very soft and very grippy plastic (or should I say rubber?) blend.  Any weather or temperature and you can grip it.  The beefy, beaded, and RAISED rim is a bit awkward at first to grip but definitely doable.

Flight: It's the Stego...it's for fun.  It's a disc that is more like a normal golf disc when you throw it upside down.  The Stego gets MORE overstable the harder you throw it and loves to get to the ground fast and stick.

Conclusion: The only real reason to get this is because it's fun, and believe me it truly is.

Sidenote: If thrown as a tomahawk, the Stego being so OS, will not flip or turn at all, it will simply hit the ground vertically and roll fairly straight.  So that's a shot shape nothing else can do I guess.

This disc is perfect for very specific shots. It is the quintessential "utility upshot" disc. I need a shot to go hard left very quickly....stego, I need to float something sharply around an obstacle directly in front of me to the target...stego, I have an 80 ft approach and a cliff drops off directly behind the target...stego. I need a forehand roller to roll for days...stego. This is not meant to be an off the tee disc. This is meant to be a "get out of serious trouble fast" disc, and it's AMAZING at that. 5 stars for what it's meant to do. The review made me pick the only plastic available. I use Fossil plastic stegos, not tarpit.

This disc depends on what type of person you are.  Are you the type of person that likes gadgets and tools?  Or are you the kind of person that can't tell the difference between a phillips head versus a regular screwdriver?  If you are the type of person that has a tool for every situation and you play disc golf the Stego is for you.   This is a specialty disc that can be used for specialized approach shots that need to fade and drop quickly.  This is a scramble type disc that will help you get out of bad situations.  You might throw it once or twice a round, depending how much you plan on scrambling.  It is a tool and it depends on how much space you want to give up in your bag for this disc.

If you go in thinking this disc will be anything like you have thrown before you will be very mistaken. I bought this disc because I heard it was "the most overstable disc ever". I think the stego is exactly that. This disc is very bulky feeling in my hands and when you throw it you should expect no glide or extra distance. I think there are plenty of times in a round that a stego would be very useful. You can throw very short flex shots that sit down really fast. I think the stego can be replaced by other overstable approach disc like the zone, harp, pig, or many others. Maybe think about getting a stego if you live in a very windy place but I think people will find more use out of some things that are slightly less overstable than this disc. Purchase this disc knowing it'll fall out of the air instantly and will go left for righthanded throwers.

This is truly a disc unlike any other. I've rated it neutral for beginners because it has a use for everyone, even if it won't help a beginner learn how to throw any other disc or shot.

The Stego has a Positive high speed turn to the point that if you throw it hard, it feels like it is fading before it even leaves your had. It has a very blunt rim, zero glide, and prefers to fall to the ground rather than fly. Besides getting a laugh out of telling your friends to throw it as hard as they can, this is actually a very useful and versatile utility disc. The harder you throw it the more it dumps. I can throw crazy flex anhyzers about 200-225ft with it full power. But inversely if you throw it with a little touch from ~150ft in, then you can shape some awesome lines and really control your upshot. I just got one in the TarPit plastic at I'm currently loving it for its tendency to just bounce and stick where it lands.

Bonus: Take time learning out to throw a forehand or thumber roller with this disc and you will get a dead straight roller that doesn't stop
