The Stego is a massively overstable utility disc. If you need a midrange that fades fast and fades hard, then this is the disc for you! It would be difficult to find another disc designed for such sharp and dramatic curves and virtually no glide.

    Fossil Details

Fossil plastic is the base plastic for Reptilian Disc Golf, similar to Gateway's plastic blends. It feels great in the hand - grippy, yet firm. This is the kind of plastic that you want in a putter!

I can't decide if the stego is a masterpiece or a failure.  The stego does what it's supposed to, which is fly like a brick, except the brick would probably fly farther.  The stego can sometimes be useful for when you can't overshoot a target or you need to go left, but other discs can do what the stego does but better.  The stego is a cool disc to mess around with, but other than that I can't see anyone actually bagging it.  It does what it's supposed to but whoever thought anyone would need a disc this overstable was wrong.

Some discs fight wind better than others. And one disc is the king of doing just that. In this video I compare the Stego to the Innova Rhyno, Hydra, Pig, Roc, Whippet, Viper, and Firebird.

This is the most gimmicky of gimmick disks. It is afraid to fly and fades straight out of your hand. I guess maybe there is 1 out of 100 shots you could use this disc but you probably have a better option. It's worth having just for the laughter of handing this disc to your friend and asking them to try and throw it.

This gets a 3 until a premium plastic Stego is more readily available. The disc flies like a manhole lid, which could be good it the plastic wasn't so BASIC. Beats up real quick.

What More can I say about this disc.  But I actually leave it in my bag, and give it to people to try out.

    1) Yes the rim is huge.

    2) Yes it loves to fade and does it fast

    3) Yes, it does not like to fly, but man will it roll.

I will find a use for this disc, which is why I leave it in my bag.  Great disc to pull out when you say I have no idea what to throw here. when I do I'll post it and raise the rating.

    Good Luck

The Stego is one of the craziest discs I have ever thrown. All this disc does is fade and find the groud in a hurry. It is so overstable, almost to the point I couldn't find a use for it. Short approaches is really the only thing I was able to use this for, 200ft and in. I'm sure someone with a huge arm could do somethings with this disc, but it was too overstable for me.

This disc is afraid of heights for sure. Perfect for short dumps. I like it.

I bought this disc because I read all the reviews about it and it sounded like a fun, stupid, yet useful disc to have.

    Yes. It is.

God this thing does NOT want to fly. Puts my Drone to shame with overstability. NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING is more overstable than this Stego. Appropriately named, since it will probably fly the same if you could actually throw a stegosaurus. Damn this rim is huge.

The rim is extremely big, flat, and manhole cover like. It extends a bit above the top of the disc. Probably creating down force when it's in the air.

Did I mention that this rim is HUGE?

You can feel it wanting to fade as soon as it leaves your fingers...even if you put it on an anhyzer line.

The harder you throw it, the faster it will flip to its side before crashing down to the ground and skipoing/rolling/flipping a good ways. Good luck getting it past 200 ft.

    Uses:

    - Distance control for approach shots.

-When you absolutely positively must fade NOW.

-When you are in the mood to feel like a weak noodle arm newbie again.

    Also, the rim is HUGE!

Buy one, throw it, laugh, enjoy.

When you buy a Stego you have to know this about it; there are a very limited amount of things is does, but it does those things better better than anything else in the world.

I have two of these, and the first run one is a bit stiffer while the newer one has some give to it, but both are firm. The outer rim is fairly flat, down to a bevel and bead that takes up the bottom third of the disc. The inner rim is flat and easy to grip. The top of the disc where the rim meets the flight plate is raised, sort of like a gradual little spoiler on top and the old one I have is slightly puddle topped, while the newer one which is beefier has a mild dome.

The flight is unusual. It makes an intense WHOOSH noise when thrown hard and it goes very straight right up until it seems to realize it's in the air and then dives from the air like a brick. Not even a ton of fade, it just runs out of steam and spikes into the ground.

I use mine on three types of shots; 150-220 ft FH placement shots, usually when I have to flex around something. Spike BH that need to sit. There is a hole at my home course that is only 180 ft, but has a 50+ft drop. so the disc has to go out straight about 120 and then hyzer hard into a 25x30 landing area, or you will have a roll away down 30 more feet of hill. I trust no other disc on this hole. It is also very good for FH rollers.

These do beat in, but they never lose much stability no matter how bad they look. Mine are now somewhat scuffed, clovered and look like booboo, but they still fly like they need to.

If you are a competitive player, and need a short utility disc, this is the one. Buy it.

Challenge: throw this disc more than 200 ft. Nobody in my DGC can do it

It's raised rim causes the reverse effect of lift. The faster you throw it, the more it gets pushed down towards the ground. Great for forehand upshots that need to hook hard and stop on a dime. Even if you were to give it a retarded amount of anhyzer angle, it flexes against that and turns hyzer almost immediately after leaving the hand

    Only Utility

I have had a Stego since they were first released, and it took me awhile to like it. Now, I dont know what Id do without it!

Despite Infinite classifying this as a mid-range, the Stego will never go mid range distance. It has no glide and is insanely overstable. Ive thrown some Gateway Spirits that matched the Stegos overstability, but nothing else comes close. Not the Justice, not the MOAB, not the old Tachyon...nothing currently in production matches the Stego.

Its not useless, but it is NOT FOR BEGINNERS

This is the most overstable disc you will ever throw. Forget what you think is the most overstable disc you have thrown, this will be more overstable.

It isn't going to go far and it will start fading as soon as it leaves your hand. You won't get this out past 250ft (probably not even past 200ft). It probably isn't a disc you will throw often during a round but this disc is great for get out of trouble shots as it is super predictable. You can throw it in any wind and you know what it will do. Also it is wonderfully easy to throw a straight forehand roller.

Basically if you want a disc that makes a XXX, Zone, Gator, etc look understable for get out of trouble shots (or you want a disc just to mess with people with), get a Stego.

Also this is one of the most durable discs I have. I am pretty sure mine isn't round anymore and it is still as overstable as the day I got it.
