The Stego is a massively overstable utility disc. If you need a midrange that fades fast and fades hard, then this is the disc for you! It would be difficult to find another disc designed for such sharp and dramatic curves and virtually no glide.

This disc does what its meant to do well, which is get to the ground fast. I got this disc a long time ago as a gag disc but now it wont leave my bag as there are several places its helped me out. If you need to throw something on a little flex shot and have it fall out of the sky without going too far, or have to throw some left to right moving roller, this disc can cover those lines better than an other. This disc is impossible to throw anywhere, and doesnt really go any farther the harder you throw it. My farthest throws with this disc have been about 200ft, while I can easily coast an aviar over 320. This disc is pure utility, and although you might not use it much, youll be glad youve got it when its time you need something like this. The flight numbers on this can be a little wierd as it starts turning hard directly leaving your hand. Its tall so it has almost no speed. Definitely doesnt exhibit even 1 single ounce of glide. But also doesnt fade much since it turns completely vertical only a couple seconds after leaving your hand. I would say the numbers are 2, 0, +2, 2

Sometimes I feel that all discs are the same. One might have a little more speed, one slightly more understable/overstable than the next disc but a lot of them are pretty similar. Not the Stego! This disc is definitely one of a kind!

If you want a great flex shot, throw this disc hard with as much anhyzer as you can put on it and it will still flex and fade back. Great disc for downhill shots, death putts, and short highly wooded areas. By far one of my favorite disc! I think everyone should at least try this disc out at some point.

I feel like this disc is somewhat beginner friendly because: 1) there is no glide, so you are not ever going to overshoot the basket. 2)  Because of the slow speed and the crazy overstability of this disc, it makes for a great teaching tool for understanding flight path ratings as well as teaching how to throw a good anhyzer line.

I just freaking love this disc! It's so great and there's absolutely nothing like it. But here's the thing: the Stego is not a workhorse disc. It's not a Roc, it's not a Shark or any other popular mid. The Stego is a disc you use for short approach shots that absolutely cannot fly past the basket or turn over.

The other feature of the Stego is that it has a unique fade. An overstable mid like the Justice will take a long, arcing fade, but the Stego just tends to drop out of the sky. And on this angle, the Stego barely skips, which makes it very accurate for these types of shots.

If you're a player who struggles with distance (which very few players will admit) this is not the disc for you. Get a Roc. Get a Shark. Get something that will fly. But when you absolutely got to stick a shot, avoid an obstacle, or nail a tight fairway--accept not substitute. Stego.

The Stego is the best approach disc I have used for any approach shot that is not completely straight and clear of obstacles.  Low branches? - Stego.  Go left or right around an obstacle directly in front of your stance? - Stego.   Bursty wind?  Stego.    In the woods? - Stego.

The Stego needs to be learned and practiced but it is well worth it.  I use it several times each round. For windy days it is my go to putter.  I have never 'thrown in' with the Stego from farther than 10' but you can routinely depend on it to 'plop' down at the foot of the basket from as long as 150' if you shape the line well.

As it has worn in it has started to roll away on me several times now.  It never used to do that so I am hoping it has something to do with the dings and scuffs.  I tried a couple Amber Stegos in hopes that the more durable plastic won't catch an edge and roll as often but it really didn't make a difference.

The plastic feels very different from other brands and I have since switched to a combination of Anvil, Justice, Pine and XXX for this spot in the bag.

This is a crazy disc. I have a special edition, Black, Fossil Fuel Stego, and I never play without it. I saw the reviews and how this disc does not like to fly, and how much of a gag disc it is. I showed my friend and I received it as a Christmas gift. I thought for sure I would never use it, but I can always rely on it when I need to park it under the basket. It has such a strong fade, I can get it around any tree, with enough height, and can even make some far putts. The fossil fuel plastic is hard and does not bend easily. Feels like a brick and flies like one too. I never thought a disc like this would possibly be useful. Overall, it is a tough disc to use, but if you understand what you are using it for, you can easily make it work in any scenario.

Behold, a disc that does NOT want to fly. This is a ground-dweller, and it will resist any attempt to keep it airborne. The Stego must be a close relative to the bowling ball when it comes to flight, except that when a bowling ball hits the ground, it will roll for quite a distance, where a Stego will skid to a stop and refuse to move any further.

So, why four stars? Any disc this flat-out ugly and so immensely overstable is one of the ultimate niche discs. At some point you'll need a disc that fades as hard as possible and then hits the ground and refuses to even skip. At some point, you'll need a disc that is impossible to find elsewhere. At some point you'll need an overstable, short-range disc that would only seem to exist in your imagination, and the Stego will be your unwilling weapon of choice!

What even is this disc... just when I thought things couldn't get more overstable, I try throwing this.

This thing is a brick, and it's ratings are 100% accurate. Literally no glide. It just flies out of your hand, turns sideways, and drifts straight into the ground with a harsh fade.

Now, I'm used to skipping a Fuzion Justice up to the basket, but this thing sticks better. I throw it and it just kinda flops up to the basket. I could see some good purpose for this, but it's gonna take a little getting used to.

Anyway, just give it a shot, you'll probably laugh at how weak-armed it makes you feel.

This is the dumbest disc I've ever owned...

    I LOVE IT!

Holy crap is this thing ridiculous! It can actually be thrown softly alright, but when you power up, it's like a tree being felled. Just CRASH! I laughed my ass off the first power throw I gave it! I released flat and level... It went about 80'. Brilliant! I can't wipe this stupid grin off my face.

If you give it some height and moderate power, I can actually see it being very useful. Also great for forehand rollers and solid for overhand. But, my god. Do NOT give it a full rip unless you want to fall down laughing.

All three of my Stegos are flat as a board. But I did end up with a 174g, 172g, and a 165g. The 165 is actually MORE overstable! I was actually surprised at how thin the flight plate was. I was expecting a "heavier" feel in the hand, but it's actually very pliable and gentle. It's the first putter I really feel comfortable forehanding. Now, if only it would fly!  I gave it full power, as much torque as I could muster, on a steep anhyzer, into a 5-6 mph headwind and it still fought out and kerplunked after about 150' or so. It's just so silly I can't stand it! Definitely the best utility putter out there. It makes Harps and Gators look like sissies.
