VERY Flippy to the point i can not control it reliably. Turns in to a roller no matter how much hyzer is put in to it. Would need to take substantial power off to control this, which kind of defeats the purpose of a 13 speed?

This disc is the one I will swear by day in and day out. When I first got this disc I got it because it was blue and I liked how it looked, I never would've thought that it would be the best I ever owned. With casual shots I have gotten this disc to fly 70-100 feet further than everything else in my bag. It is very understable but that only makes it easier to throw far. I find that forehand is the best way to throw this disc, while it also works backhand I have found great sucess throwing a forehand with a slight hyzer angle and it will straighten out and fly 350+ feet. The plastic is great quality and even with throwing it on almost every hole, scraping it across concrete, slamming it into trees, and even getting it stuck in a few trees it has never shown signs of deterioration. Aside from one or two smudge type things it is in mint condition and flys the same. I lost the first one I had throwing it 50 feet up in a tree after going downhill about 370 feet and immediately bought another. This disc brings something out in everyone who throws it and is the best I have laid my hands on.

This disc is one of my favorite backhand discs to throw, and is my go-to driver off the tee on fairly clear holes. It straightens out in the middle of its flight adding extra distance, and has that beautiful reliable fade at the end of it. Not to mention it feels AMAZING in the hand. This disc is by far Latitude 64s best distance driver in my unprofessional opinion, but it's at worst certainly worth a try for those who haven't tried it yet.

This is the first distance driver I could actually throw well and it's my go-to for long shots off the tee. I don't have a ton of arm speed and my comfort zone for drivers is usually a speed 7 to 9. For whatever reason, I can throw the Bolt really well and its a thing of beauty to watch it glide and glide. I'm at 5000' of altitude so mine has less turn (I'd say -1) and a lot of fade but It doesn't seem like a speed 13 to me...maybe more like an 11 (?) but I'm not complaining. Great disc, the Opto plastic has been very durable and looks great as well.

The bolt is a great disc that gets me great results. I have it in opto plastic (which I believe is the best plastic latitude 64 provides) at 172 grams. The flight is always consistent for me, which I appreciate. The flight of the disc results in a beautiful s curve with a left finish for right hand back hand players. I can also flick the disc to flip up and grab me some extra distance. Hyzer shots go pretty far for me since it is an understable disc with high glide. Anhyzers grab me some extra distance because of the natural turn of the disc. No matter what the shot is, the disc performs. Also, for a 13 speed disc, this disc is very easy to throw, which is shocking because I usually shy away from discs with such high speed. All in all, this disc is very crucial to my bag and I recommend all players of all skill sets give this disc a shot, I bet you'll love it.

the bolt is my absolute favorite disc. It does everything I want it to do. It is understable and it creates a perfect s line I would recommend this discs to anyone! I've recently gotten into latitude 64 discs and I will never look back my bolt will be in my bag for the rest of my life because I absolutely love it. For any players that are right hand backhand it will do whatever you say it will do.

As a latitude 64 fella myself I figured I would like this disk well guys I was wrong I just can't seem to get this thing to go where I want to. As an under stable disc I can't even get it to do give me that beautiful flex shot I was dreaming of. Just yesterday I had a beautiful look on this whole I drove guess what? This thing hyzer dove straight into the water I had to look for over an hour and even end up almost losing my wedding ring! Honestly next time I'll just leave it for someone else to try out because obviously this just ain't my kind of disc. So if you're looking for a disk you can't control buy this one

This was the first disc I figured out how to forehand and get the distance needed to get to the basket for a birdie shot. Its thin design and clean edges let you release it with ease whether you are throwing it Forehand or back hand. I find that it goes where you need to it to go and how you need it too. Does take time to learn its ways though. Throwing hyzer or anhyzer will always carry different results but they are consistant.

as an intermediate player with slower arm speed, i'll say this mold can help gain extra distance and/or control. it flies very fast and has a predictable fade, but can be touchy in wind. tailwind bomber, but probably need to power down in a headwind. these things fly far, and turns easily enough that tunnels can be managed. i throw my opto bolt for shots i can't quite reach with my saints. obviously, the fade is a bit more aggressive than a saint, but has a nice glidey finish for a wide rim disc. i highly recommend the bolt for intermediate arm speeds for 300' to 400' power. like discs that go far with less effort? try one.

Summary: I've owned four, and they were all pretty different. Latitude 64 definitely needs to work on manufacturing consistency, because I've had two that have basically no fade at all, which is not acceptable for a disc with a fade rating of 3.  My ratings are either 5 stars or 1 star, so I settled on 3.

Two of the Optos are what I think Bolts are supposed to be. They fly more or less how you throw them. One thing I will say is that the angle difference between hyzer, flat, and anny is very subtle compared to other discs. You need to be careful with the angle, and that's why I said it's not a good beginner disc (also, beginners shouldn't be throwing speed 13, but that's another topic...). Despite being flippy, this has a fade rating of 3. I'd say it's more like a solid 2 - 2.5 on my discs, but whatever it is, two of the Bolts I've had will fight their way out of an anhyzer and have a smooth forward fade. I've never thrown these a lot in play, because I find them a bit unpredictable and sensitive, but in field practice, I regularly see my Bolts go further than anything else with a flip-to-fade S curve. The high fade will also make any angle error more forgiving.

So that's the love part of my love/hate relationship with the Bolt. One Opto Bolt was so understable that it was simply uncontrollable. Frankly, it was a lemon. Thrown on anything less than vertical hyzer, it would be going 90 degrees to the right by 125' away from me. I bagged it one day for a practice round and it went off the fairway, never to be seen again. Good riddance. In 30+ years of DG and Ultimate, I've never seen a disc do that.

The last Bolt is a Moonshine. It is very understable, and has very little fade. If I throw it on a sharp hyzer, I can get a nice flight out of it, but it's hard to control. Might be a good roller disc, but why would anything with a fade of 3 be in consideration for a roller?

Note - I've owned 3 Opto Air Bolts in the 150g range. See separate review for those.

The Bolt is a great Understable Driver from Latitude 64. It is a very controllable disc that will easily turn for you but surprise you with some fade at the end of the flight.  It can definitely be forced over for a roller but will still give you a straight finish without turning over too much on the ground. Very glidey and feels great in the hand. If you are a Trilogy fan and you are looking for a good controllable driver, pick up a Bolt!

It flies far but it is hard to control. I wouldn't recommend this disc for anything other than practicing your angle of release. It is not forgiving at all. This thing will hyzer, go straight or dump and roll all within 15 degrees of angle of release.

The only reason I don't think it is good for beginners is because beginners shouldn't start with high speed drivers. That said, I think this would be a fantastic first high speed driver for someone growing into them. I have the Frost Line Bolt. It was in my bag for a while, and then I decided to disc down and not throw any max distance drivers until my form was really ready for it. The Bolt is definitely on the short list of max distance drivers that I am planning on testing when I can actually handle 13 speeds. It has a TON of glide, and I imagine that in plastics other than Frost, it will have a bit less stability, so if the Bolt does win my 13 speed sweepstakes, I will definitely be grabbing more to have different stability ranges. The Frost is understable but not what I would describe as flippy. I would say it was predictably understable, and I believe that in other plastics, it would just turn a little bit more than the Frost.

Hands down, my go to Distance Driver. I broke my personal distance record twice with this disc with the same max arm speed as I throw other DDs. Been playing consistently for about 6 months, 2-3 times a week. The under stability makes it a little friendlier to beginner/intermediate players looking for extra distance off the tee with that nice S flight and moderate fade at the end. I was surprisingly satisfied with this disc, I always enjoy trying other brands outside of Innova and Discraft and I gotta give the Bolt credit where it's due. If you're a beginner/intermediate looking for your first or looking to experiment with a new DD, look no further than the Bolt.

I have only been playing a little over a year and don't have high arm speed yet.  I typically drive about 300 with the ocassional 375, when I actually get the form correct.  I started with a lot of understable discs to combat my poor form to try to increase my distance and I have thrown every thing from 11 speed to 14 speed discs.  I am starting to finally turn over the understable discs too much and throwing more stable discs much cleaner and further.  All the way through my growing process and working my arm speed up and correct form, the Bolt has always been my furthest driver.  I am finally getting that highspeed turn with a little fade at the end out of it.  With drivers taking up half of my bad, still working on fixing myself to get distance, this is always my go to disc when I need to make a shot that I need to know exactly what the disc is going to do every time.

    UPDATE 7/5/17

I feel the need to update my original review. I have added a little distance (I had a torn shoulder/biceps at the time of the 1st review), and I have cleaned up my form more and maybe that's why I have a different view of this disc.  This is very understable.  This could only be in my bag now as a hyzer flip disc.  But I don't really even like it for that.  At this point this disc fades to the right and cut rolls on me.  Doesn't work well as an anhyzer disc either for me.  So I think this disc is appropriate for those with 300 ft power.  If that's you try this disc out. If you are over 350 ft, you won't like it, you'll flip it, unless you want a roller then maybe.

    3/21/17

Opto is myy current distance driver (when I have the room for it to work). Definitely understable, I get big S's out of it with a small consistent fade at the end.  It is pretty fast too, I would say it flies more understable than the numbers.

My Moonshine flies very different.  13,6,-4,1.  I have to hyzer flip it or it turns into a cut roller.  But is is great for hyzerflips: it holds a long line then 2/3 of the way down it starts going to the right with a slight fade at the end.

The Bolt is one of my favorite max distance drivers. I have a low arm speed and I could throw my Katanas about 240. I picked up a Gold Line Bolt and right out of the box it flew 260. As it beat in I could use it for hyzer flips that would land around 270 on a good throw. This is a great disc for anyone with low arm speed looking for some extra distance. For me, the Bolt flies with a very nice S curve. After throwing the Gold line Bolt for so long, I decided to get an Opto Bolt. This flew just like the Gold Line out of the box but beat in much slower. Overall this a great disc for low arm speed players looking for some extra distance.

Opto 165. I can get some of my longest throws with this disc, but I feel the lower weight and understability of it makes it very inconsistent. Sometimes it holds a beautiful line and goes a mile and sometimes it seems to just drop out of the air and land way shorter then I expect. This is not to say it is a bad distance driver, especially for beginners, but I just get better consistency with other discs.

This disc is fantastic. First off it's great for beginners considering the distance you get with such minimal effort. However it is great for big arms too. With a RHBH throw I throw just over 400. With that being said I use this disc for ridiculously long hyzer flip to anhyzer glides. This thing will not come back once it is turned over unless give it a ton of air which I love. This is a disc you can count on to flip over and hold that line til it hits the ground. Very reliable.

The Bolt. The premier understable distance driver out, along with the Nuke SS. Very touchy and difficult to maximize the flight on it. Hyzer flipping is a must, as it really is very understable. Thrown properly the Bolt is among the top 3 longest discs I've ever thrown. Beginner friendly, as it doesn't take a ton of arm to get the Bolt up to cruising speed. Downwind is good, all other wind conditions leave the Bolt in the bag.

I believe that Latitude 64 makes great discs! Very consistent, great in hand feel, and unbelievable glide. This one is NO different. I have had it in my bag for a few months and have found it to be a very fun disc to throw. With how much glide it has got it will keep going forward for you for days. You will not regret buying this disc, especially if you are looking for a big distance disc.

This disc is REALLY understable. It has one purpose and that is for me to HOPE I put it on the right line to hyzer flip and thats if I let it go edge facing the ground. I have my longest throw ever with this disc but you have to find the right spot to get this to stay on a line. Don't even try this in a headwind, you'll have a bad time. Overall, definitely staying in my bag forever for its one purpose, staight, long distance.

The Bolt mold, in my experience, is inconsistent. Some people claim they are flat out stable, others call uncontrollable flip discs. I have found them to be easier to flip than a Katana with more of a tendency to turn and burn. If you have a wide open field and need some serious distance, the Bolt may be what you are looking for. The Latitude 64 Opto plastic is the most durable plastic I have ever used. Latitude 64 Gold plastic, typically a little less stable, is the most beautiful plastic I have ever seen. You can't go wrong with either plastic!
