The Ballista Pro is an overstable bomber, a huge-rimmed max distance driver.  You probably need a pretty big arm to get the most out of this disc, at around 400ft of distance my opto Ballista Pro is still pretty beefy and doesn't have much turn.  I tried a lighter one at 169g but still found it to be pretty overstable.  However for such an overstable disc it still has good glide and covers ground very well, often finishing with a huge flare skip.  It holds up in the wind well, and I also found it useful for forehand distance shots.  The opto plastic feels good and has good grip.  I have heard the gold line and biogold are more understable, so those plastics would be worth checking out if you are looking for a little more turn out of the box.

At 4500' throwing the Opto Ballista Pro with roughly 400' of power.

This is the disc for the big power throwers. The first one that I got was a gift from one such power thrower and he decided that it was too understable for him. Throwing this particular one was the perfect hyzer flip distance driver for me. I had to get a new one and I have really been enjoying these, but I think I still like my old reliable which is a 167g I-Blend Emperor.

Slower, glidier, and less stable than the numbers imo

This is an "overstable" distance driver according to Latitude 64, and honestly, I'm gonna have to disagree. This disc is great for those that want a distance driver that pushes out a way and then fades back. It is not great in a headwind though because it turns over and is not reliable. I was very disappointed when on a windy day it kept flipping over and not holding. Even on hyzer it was flipping up to flat. Overall in the wind it's a decent disc but it would not be my first suggestion for a distance driver.

Not an overstable disc; bought it to be a headwind fighting disc, but on a calm day this thing will turn over nicely and fade back, almost like a faster destroyer. Nonetheless, I can get big distance with this disc with its long, winding flight, but I wish the numbers reflected the flight better.

As a player getting back into the sport after 15 years, I don't quite have the arm speed to throw this disc correctly.  At speed 14, not recommended for a born again beginner. Amazing quality disc, but make sure you can handle it.

I picked up an opto Ballista Pro once I got some arm speed, hoping that it would be a good wind fighting bomber unlike my Giant which is extremely overstable. First time I threw the thing on a calm day it gave soooo much turn but did eventually fight out. Not what I was expecting but it is a great flight. I would say that if you are pushing 500ft on your longer throws this is a great max distance disc, but will sadly not be that headwind fighter. At least in opto plastic. Very pretty and great feeling disc though, currently holds my distance record out of my discs at 548ft so its a sender for sure!

This is my workhorse distance driver for when I need to get far. I would absolutely not recommend this if you have a moderate-low arm speed and you're looking for an all-around distance driver. When I first got my Opto Ballista Pro I was topping out around 300 feet with my fairway drivers and this disc was way too OS to be anything more than a utility disc. The constant spike hyzering into the ground, though, got it beat in pretty well and now I love it. For me, at least, it needs some decent space to work. In its current state, this disc can hold a moderate hyzer while still covering plenty of space, it can flip to flat and drift right when used with less hyzer, or I can put it on a huge sweeping flex line to cover a ton of distance or if I need a left-to-right shot. Very OS out of the box, but can do it all with lots of use.

Overstable, little bit slow but that is okay because you can get enough distance if you have a 167g Ballista pro. And because of the slow glide and you have a light ballista pro it can glide faster so that can make the disc go 200ft or 300ft if you are a beginner up to professional.

I took a loooong break from disc golf to do other sports, but hooked up with an old friend at a disc golf course. I brought my trusty 1999 JLS and had a blast. My friend gave me a Ballista Pro (gold) and said I should practice with this. Oh my – what a beautiful disc. That was only a couple months ago and since then I have purchased over 50 new discs. But this is my favorite overstable distance driver. I know I still don’t have enough power to fulfill its needs - so I don’t get the flight path shown in the chart. But even with just a little anhyzer I can get it to go straight for 70% before it loses power and dives to the left (RHBH). I’m really loving it for the FH too – again with some anhyzer I can get a really nice flex that will scoot out 300 – 340 feet.

The gold-line plastic feels excellent - one of my favorite plastics along with GStar and Fuzion. I even like it better than Opto because it is just a bit softer and has a little more grip.

The Air Ballista Pro is my longest disc with a reliable flight path.  I can throw the Air Sheriff farther but it may end up 40 degrees to the turn side.   The Ballista pro tends to end up very straight.  It gets significant turn and then fades back to straight.  This is true for forehand and backhand and uphill and downhill.    Just don't throw it into a headwind.  f you do, it will either go straight up like a rocket or sail off to the turn side.

I also throw an Opto Ballista Pro which is excellent throwing into headwind.  it will get a full s flight and land a little to the turn side but is very reliable.

With destroyer like discs I get a consistent 400 feet out of them. The ballista pro gave me an additional 40-50 feet. This BP will flip up on hyzer and ride straight forever before having some nice hard fade. It beats in really quickly and isn't the best disc in a headwind, I typically only throw it with a favorable crosswind or tailwind. Great disc!

If you look at my review history, you'll notice I haven't really pulled any punches regarding a couple of the molds I've thrown from Latitude 64. Before you whine I am full aware of their masterpieces, the Explorer, the River, the Keystone, and this disc. I will give credit when it's due, not before. I'm happy to say I think I can take a break from that for a moment. This is probably the best Speed 14 distance driver made so far, with all of the weird caveats that may entail. Caveats being there aren't many of this speed readily available compared to speed 12 or even 13, and the notion that beginners still can't quite get in their heads that you NEED the right arm speed to get the best out of this disc. My friend lent me a beat in Ballista Pro for a very windy round, and I absolutely needed to get my arm speed, technique, and follow through absolutely perfect to get the three throws that were actually useful out of this disc. The best one was a shot over a pond that begins a wide open five hundred foot hole. Into a headwind, the stiff wind it beat looked like a speed bump in a hummer. I was shocked, really, and the fade kicked in about on time. I still don't quite have all this disc needs to really get going, but it didn't skip too obnoxiously at the end. I don't have a whole lot else to say. If you have the arm, this has a good shot at being your best windy day bomber in the wind. Very Impressed.

PROS: An artillery piece amongst rifles.

CONS: Absolutely requires a high level of experience to be used effectively.

This disc is awesome! My first lat 64 disc from a mystery box was the opto ballista pro, throwing it backhand feels great, it feels effortless. I'm primarily RHBH dominant with decent arm speed. The ballista is a workhorse, with a solid flight and dependable fade, I've even gotten a few throws to turn a bit before coming back left. Would recommend to anyone!

    The epitome of "Distance Driver"

It's really hard to make a driver this fast without it being overly squirrely, or simply a novelty. Lat64 isn't even immune with their golf ball rim discs, but the Ballista Pro, to me, stands out as an achievement in disc technology. The physics that go into making an aerodynamic piece of sharp-edged plastic successfully be manipulated with any sort of control by a crude instrument like the human body is often why so many discs in this class fall by the wayside in favor of more stable and predictable 12 speeds. The Ballista Pro gives you control, though! A low 400 foot laser beam is possible with the BPro, And when you put on the full stank, that's when you get to see what a 14 speed driver can do. You'll need some space to get the full flight, but it's a thing of beauty to watch. The 0 turn provided by Lat64 is absolutely more of a -1 when you crank on it, but that's easy enough to adjust to if you just imagine a Destroyer-like flight stretched out a little more. I also do not by any means have large hands, but the rim fits just fine in my hands, it's more than comfortable, and for those of you who haven't felt up Trilogy plastic, you're in for a treat whether it's Gold or Opto. If you want to experience the apex of speed and control, definitely grab a Ballista Pro!

    Disc: 173 g Opto

I would say I'm somewhere between beginner and intermediate, and my forehand is much more consistent than my backhand in terms of distance.

For backhand this disc is a little too overstable for me to get max distance, but it is great for straight an-hyzer flips or I can get it to go straight and finish hard right when thrown flat. I rarely throw it hyzer unless I'm trying to bend it around a hard corner

For forehand - I can get a lot more torque than my backhand. When thrown hard with an-hyzer this may be my farthest flying disc. It flips up to flat and will hold that before finishing consistently right

Discs - 173 Latitude 64 Opto Ballista Pro, 174 Latitude 64 Opto Ballista Pro (First Run)

Feel - The Ballista Pro has a very wide rim and is fairly shallow. If your hands are decently sized it should fit nicely in your hand. It feels good for backhands and forehands. Opto Plastic is very durable and gives good grip in dry conditions.

Flight - The Ballista pro is very fast and has amazing glide and distance if you can get it up to speed. For my arm speed, it acts just a bit more stable than my champion destroyers but still gets the same distance. It has a ton of glide and holds a nice tight line. It will flip up and turn a bit but I can trust it into a bit of a headwind. I really like the Ballista Pro for shots that I need big distance but a tight line.

Overall - I would definitely recommend the Ballista Pro to many players because I think it can either get them more distance or help with their control over their other max distance drivers.

Max weight Opto, RHBH. This disc bombs. Got it as a mystery disc, and after a couple throws, immediately threw it in the bag.

Flight: I throw max distance around 400 feet. The Ballista pro is that driver in my bag that I know I can rip full power and it won't turn over, yet glides all the way down the fairway with a hard fade at the end. Very dependable, I know how this disc will fly every single time. Great for max distance in a headwind. The Ballista Pro is comparable to the Recoil, just a bit faster.

Feel: Big rim, pretty flat top with just a very slight dome. I prefer flatter profile discs, and the dome is not noticeable when throwing. This disc is very comfortable in the hand, and I get a clean release off of it every time.

Plastic: Opto is an excellent blend and I recommend it for any disc. Very durable, good grip. Still flies the same since day one.

The Ballista Pro is the longest flying disc I have ever thrown. With my 5 longest recorded throws, this thing BOMBS

Feel: It's got a very wide rim and usually has a fair amount of dome to it. Opto is a grippier premium plastic, and it beats in a bit quicker than champion or z.

Flight: This is where the Ballista Pro amazes me. It flies extremely fast, gets a good amount of turn, and fades forward the entire way. It goes very far, and I (as well as a lot of Trilogy players!) use it for max distance drives. Absolute money flight.

The Ballista Pro has to be one of my favorite distance drivers to ever be produced. I recommend it to anyone who can throw >370'.

Somewhat stable OTB but once seasoned it pretty much gets put on an angle and goes that way. I completely agree with the flight ratings when the disc is brand new. The Ballista Pro has been a staple in my bag for quite sometime! A brand new one provides just enough stability to attack headwinds, but when they get beat in a little bit, it can create some of the best "S" curves I have ever seen a disc make!
Brand new you can throw this disc both forehand and backhand and achieve some great to flip to flat shots.

When the disc is beat in, it is a definite go to distance driver. The farthest I was able to throw one was just 550' and I average just around 450'. Great disc and I recommend it to everyone!

I thougth this would be a more overstable ballista; however, this disc to me is just not workable.  It does not have the beatiful glide of a Ballista, and I do not love the flight of this disc.  Maybe it is just my arm strength, but I could not get this disc to flip over.  The way the ballista is so much less stable than it's flight numbers, I thought this disc would be amazing.  I think once my arm speed improves, I may come back to this disc, but for right now this disc is siiting in my closet.

This disc is the king of bomber distance drivers, no contest.  If you can reliably throw nose-down 375ft+, this disc has a place in your bag and will change your distance game.  I have tried a lot of glidey understable discs (Tern, Grym, Destiny, D3, etc) to eek out maximum distance, but the Ballista Pro is superior to all of them due to its ease of use and consistency.  It's less sensitive to release angle due to its overstable nature and has unbelievable glide and fade-forward given its factory-listed flight numbers.

Disc: 167g Opto Ballista Pro (pink)

Found this beauty with no number on it, so figured I'd give it a try, and I've actually been pleasantly surprised by how well it flies.

Flight: I normally wouldn't pick up a disc like this as I read these flight numbers as "too fast" and "meathook" BUT that actually isn't the case. This disc is stable, but it actually gets pretty good glide. I'm an intermediate arm and can get it pushing straight for a while before fading.

Use: This disc is a pretty solid distance driver. You can really put a throw into it and it won't turn over, but it also won't hoook up. Good headwind driver. I also really enjoy it for big forehand shots as it holds up well with the extra torque.

Summary: While I didn't go out to get this disc, I have ended up keeping it in the bag for now. It's replacing my destroyer slot for now as I lost that disc (sad face). Ballista Pro is definitley worth checking out though and see if it suits your needs.

I finally did it. I finally tried a ballista Pro. The numbers scared me at first, but I wouldn't rate it as a 14 4 0 3 at all. It's a tad overstable yes, but more on just the stable side. Head winds it does ok in as long as it isn't too strong. It has more glide than it says for sure. If it was as stable as they claim then I wouldn't be able to get this past 350ft.

I'm able to get this sucker anywhere between 365 and 400 depending on the shot type. It goes very straight for a long ways though, and always fades back.

14 for any rim size other than say a Nuke or the Raketen/misselen is a bit bold to claim. It doesnt feel any different than a 12 or 13 speed.

I bag one but not sure about bagging more or multiples yet.

It's stable, but its not too stable. It is the perfect combination for a maximum distance driver. I can count on this disc to fly for me and to fly very far. 173 Opto

This disc has the most beautiful perfect looking turn of any disc I've ever seen.  Slices through the air like butter.  This disc can be thrown as far as any disc made in my opinion.  The only problem I have with it is that in really any headwind at all, it will turn and burn into the ground.  I would rate the opto version of this disc 13, 6, 1.5, 3

    175 Opto-X

This version has all the stability that the regular opto seemed to lack.  Can throw it dead straight as fast as any disc and will hold the line for longer than you think would be possible, then fade left.  It is the perfect starting point for any overstable disc that you want to be able to work into a bomber a bit down the road.  Some headwinds that knocked it around a little bit and caused it to turn right much more than is ideal if you need an ultra precise shot in the open with wind and OB.  Although it never came close to turning and burning like the regular opto. I would rate the opto-x 13, 6, 0, 3

In summary, I feel that both the regular opto and the opto-x Ballista Pro are the fastest disc with the most glide that I have witnessed. However, I think all of the glide can cause it to become a little bit unpredictable in wind.

This disc is straight fire! I have never thrown farther and as consistently as with this disc. I have struggled to get this disc to turn over on its own and usually have to and just a hair of Anhyzer or a little extra mustard to get those super long s curves out of it. The grip of the plastic is mind boggling. This quickly became my go to for the 400'+ shots that need that reliable fade at the end. I think every big are needs one of these in their bag.

My absolute favorite distance driver. First time I threw it I fell in love. It pretty much replaced the wraith in my bag. It has tons of speed and glide with strong and predictable late fade. It can be thrown on any angle with predictable stability. I throw it 350-400 all day.

I was really very hesitant to get this disc.  I throw primarily FH, and especially with the high speed stuff.  I felt that this disc was a little overlap for my current high speed drivers.  But I succumbed to my temptations and bought one.  Well I'm really glad I did, this is becoming a go-to thrower for me in so many situations.

As a FH disc, I can really crank on this and it will always come back!  If you throw it on a hyzer release, it will stay on that hyzer.  If you throw it flat, it acts like a super long felon, like super long!  If you throw it with some anny, that thing will flex out and come right back with a good fade finish.

I normally don't ever throw anything higher than a speed 9 on a BH, because my BH is still developing, but I threw this and it did great things for me.  Thrown at a slight hyzer, it stood up flat and finished left, but it got great distance.  Throwing BH, I was able to get 300-330 feet, which is pretty good for my BH.  Throwing it FH I was getting more like 350-400 very consistently.

The feel of this disc is great, it allows a smooth release, and it flies so super smooth.  Plus this disc gets through the air fast!  I mean as soon as you release it, it cuts through the air and gets down the fairway.  It cuts through a headwind and it can ride a tailwind.  I hate to say it, because I'm a fan of getting a lot of different discs to try out, but this is about as close to a one disc to rule them all mold that I have ever seen.  Latitude 64 knocked it out of the park on this one!  If you are one the fence, get it!  It won't disappoint!

I completely agree with the flight ratings when the disc is brand new. Once the Ballista Pro I threw got used for a while, it became less stable quite quickly. The rim is quite large and flies very fast. The glide could be higher but most drivers should not have tons of glide. It started to turn once I used it 20 throws past brand new. This disc does fade at the end quite consistently. I found the Ballista Pro to be very similar to the Innova Boss but slightly less comfortable in the hand. A Discmania PD2 is 14/4/0/4 and the Ballista Pro is not quite as overstable.

The Ballista Pro is an awesome overstable addition to Latitude's lineup. It has a very large rim, and feels very fast. I first was introduced to Ballistas through the Snow Line they released for the Scandinavian open; this run was much more stable and everyone seems to love them. I was hoping that with the Ballista Pro, we would get the stable version of a Ballista we've all been waiting for.

I was throwing a 172g very domey pop-top in Opto, my ratings aren't too far off, but I did adjust the glide 14 5/6 0 3

I was impressed with the stability of this disc; it was much more overstable than I thought. I haven't gotten in as many throws as I would like with it, but it seems to fly far. It is a little too stable for me, so for distance I was throwing it on anhyzers and getting good distance. I was mostly impressed with the glide on the Ballista Pro. It could be due to the extreme dome/pop-top that mine had, but it would hover 5 feet above the ground forever. On a couple throws into different swirly winds it seemed to handle it pretty well. I had a couple errant throws that I essentially threw into the ground. Every other disc I threw sunk into the ground, while the Ballista Pro just hovered and still got great distance.

On hyzers, the Ballista Pro would hold the hyzer great and even turn into a little bit of a spike because it was so overstable. Thrown flat it goes strait for a little while, but fades pretty early. On an anhyzer is what gave me my best results; it would hold the anhyzer line for a little while, but fight out easily and even fade.

Overall I really liked the Ballista Pro, it's a little overstable for me, but it still provided me with some good distance. I'm excited to see how it might beat in, and how it will fly then. I would guess the Ballista Pro is a great addition to players with bigger arms. I don't normally jump on the hype trains, but all the hype was well deserved with the Ballista Pro.

The Ballista Pro is a good addition to the Latitude lineup, but might be a tad more overstable than I'm used to throwing. That being said, it's still a very good disc for bomber shots from big arms. I could get it straight for quite some time, but it would always fade out pretty hard at the end. So- it does exactly as advertised.

The rim is definitely a thicker one, so know what you're getting into. It wasn't too hard to manage, I still could grip it comfortably. When I threw it too high, it would ruin the hole for me because it would fade and glide so far away... so make sure you throw this thing straight and flat, or with a little anny for that big distance. I did get some awesome shots with it. I even flicked it a couple of times that worked out okay. (I never flick.)

In Summary: Great disc, flies as advertised, might be too much for my arm. I like flip up discs.

The Latitude 64 Ballista Pro is sooo fast. You can notice how quickly it cuts through the wind. For my lack of arm speed this disc is pretty overstable. I'm still only able to get more than 300 feet of distance out of it throwing both forehand and backhand if I release it at a slight anhyzer angle. It always fades back at the end of the flight for me and works nicely for weaving around rows of tress and then fading back in. One noticeable thing about the Ballista Pro is that this disc has a really sharp rim. In the hard opto plastic, you definitely want to make sure that you don't hit anybody, as this disc could cause serious bodily injury.

I know people that can absolutely bomb the regular Ballista, for them this disc will probably be perfect for situations where they need a bit more stability but still want the 400+ feet of distance. The reality is that this disc is just not for me.  I can get a lot more distance out of less overstable drivers and there are many discs I can get the same distance out of but with more consistency and control.
