The Berg is unparalleled: A low glide putter that flies true every time, and will not outdrive the basket. Its aptitude lies in precise landings and eliminating the need for distance control. A distinctive attribute of this disc is its thumbtrack, with a lowered flight plate that almost hugs your hand. Remarkably versatile for both forehands and backhands, the Berg fearlessly accommodates the full extent of your power, steadfast against turnover, and adeptly managing even the most delicate approaches you encounter.

What I find unique and interesting about the berg, is that unlike other thumbtrack style discs which tend to be massively overstable, the berg only has mild stability while still being torque resistant when thrown hard. It's not for me but I can see the appeal.

Not much else I can add to these reviews other than to say: everyone should have a Berg in their bag! It's SUCH a unique disc that does stuff no other disc can do.

I currently have a K2 and a K3 hard. Both fly basically identical, I just switch them in or out of the bag depending on the course I'm playing. If I'm playing a normal course with no weird baskets that have a slope near them, then I play the K3 hard. But if I'm playing a course with some weird approach shots or where the basket is near a slope, then the softer more flexible K2 goes in, as it has a tendency to stick it's landing like it's hitting velcro.

The feel of these two are the same and also totally different. It's the tops that make the difference. The rim shape and feel is the same on both. The K2 has an odd raised dome center, that then puddle down right before the rim. It's an odd shape and look to be sure, but once you get over the look and just worry about throwing it well, the feel becomes something you love about it! Whereas the K3 hard is more or less dead flat, maybe just a touch of puddle top. I also love how it's not too deep, and not too shallow. It's just a touch deeper than a Tactic or Zone, but not so deep that it's like a classic deep dish putter that will get stuck on your hand. It's perfect. And it feels equally amazing for BH or FH. In fact, I throw it FH on almost all approaches from 100' and in.

The K2 is a slick glossy plastic that is very durable, but somewhat flexible, but not so much that it's floppy like a super soft wizard or something. And even though it's glossy and slick, it still somehow has a great grip. Not that you need amazing grip on a putt/approach disc that only goes 150-200'. You're worried more about clean releases and that's why this plastic is so great for this disc. It just comes out of your hand so clean and it's very hard to grip lock this accidentally on a longer approach.

The K3 hard on the other hand is a base plastic, and is very stiff. It dings and scratches much easier, but still feels really good. It's not quite as cheap feeling as DX or D line plastic, but it's along those lines. Kind of like Exo Hard from Discmania, but better. It's stiff and does not flex, so you can feel a little better about putting a hard rip on it without it deforming while throwing. Not that you should be "ripping" on a Berg, haha.

Both have the exact same super predictable flight path. Straight where you throw it, with little glide, then a baby soft turn at the end and just falls out of the air. It's like the difference between throwing and Aerobie (super high glide) vs throwing a Brick (no glide). The Berg just dies where you throw it too. It doesn't glide there. When you first get one, you'll constantly be throwing it short, because you're so used to using a glidey putter to approach, and expecting it to glide past. So you account for the glide and then come up short, haha. But once you get used to how it flies and it's lack of glide, it's absolutely game changing! It's just like shooting a basket with a basketball. You throw it how far you want it to go, and then it just falls out of the sky and stops on the ground. My scores went down 3-5 strokes on avg per 18 instantly just by using this disc.

And to say this disc is a Utility disc is an understatement. You can throw so many different types of shots from 200' and in with this and they all turn out so well, it's ridiculous. There's a reason there's the saying: ALWAYS BE BERG'N. BH approach, yep. BH recovery shot, yep. FH approach, yep. FH recovery, yep. Touchy putts where you don't want to go long, yep. Putting into a headwind, yep. I could go on and on, but you get the point.

Once I found this disc, I went through 4 of them and narrowed it down to the 2 I have kept. I'll NEVER not have a Berg in my bag. It's that good of a disc and will completely change your approach game.

Another thing I've done more with this disc than any other disc by far is accidental throw in's! I'll just be trying to get it NEAR the basket on a short 50-100' shot from the woods or an approach and BAM! It just decides to go in instead! It's insane how many times I've done that with this disc, and every time it surprises me. It's because of it's extremely straight flight path and extremely low glide. It just sails along to the distance you wanted it to go, then falls out of the air. It's extremely rare to be way long with this disc. Which allows you to be much more aggressive on your shot or putt, knowing that if you miss, you're not going by the basket by very much.

Everyone should have at least one of these in their bag. Best Approach disc out there, best all around utility disc out there, and also a great putting disc. Sometimes when I'm putting long, I start using the Berg instead and everything just magically goes in! Such a great disc.

The Berg is one of the most interesting discs I've ever seen and/or thrown.  This disc seemingly does not want to fly.  It wants to get down as soon as possible, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.  The Berg will not fly very far, which again isn't an inherently bad thing, but it has it's place.  Tricky upshot to a basket on the side of a hill? Berg.  Need a disc that plops down and doesn't skp or roll? Berg.

The self-proclaimed zero glide is very apparent in this discs flight.  It doesn't float or ride the wind.  It's more like throwing a disc-shaped rock.  You do have to snap this disc a bit harder than you would other discs due to the lack of glide, but once you get the hang of it, you will use this disc almost exclusively for approach shots.  This disc does take some "getting used to", but if you put in some practice, you will come to love this disc for both forehand and backhand approaches.  You will almost never get a skip or a roll out of this disc, again due to it's "desire" to get to the ground as quickly as possible.

I really didn't think I would like how the Berg felt due to its unique look and shape. The thumb track is actually super comfortable and hardly noticeable. I like the feel for either backhand or forehand shots. Initially, I was trying to use the Berg as a long-range driving putter due to its stability and I was growing frustrated by it. My frustration was due to me using it totally incorrectly. The Berg has almost no glide to it and makes for a perfect approach disc. The stability fights the wind and can handle any amount of power. The lack of glide makes for accurate point-and-shoot style shots without having to worry about blowing past the basket. Once you know how to use it, the Berg makes for a great addition to the bag. This is my first (and only) Kastaplast disc and I love the K1 plastic (which was not an option so I chose the K2 plastic as my review). I am looking forward to trying their other discs and plastic types.

Loving this disc. The subtle thumb track is super comfortable in the hand along with the overall feel of the disc. The K2 is actually pretty grippy and somewhat flexible considering it's more of a star/champ-esque plastic.

The flight of this disc is pretty reliable as well. I typically like to throw it on a strong hyzer line as an approach disc when a mid-range is a little too much. If you throw it flat with enough juice it'll typically hold that line and maybe even turn over at times.

I also like the thumb track when flicking the disc. If you keep a hyzer on it, it's typically staying pretty straight with a little fade.

I would say the disc is pretty deep as well, which may be a turn off for some but overall I'm insanely happy with this purchase and even tossed a glow version in the bag as well.

The K2 Berg is definitely the most interesting and unique disc I have ever owned or thrown. The thumb track is hardly noticeable- I thought I might not like it, but it has not been an issue for me at all. I love the plastic and I love the deep rim which allows for a power grip or a fan grip. The Berg is great for throwing approach shots that are fairly straight. It has fade but it sort of "drifts" out very softly, there's no hard fade at all. It's interesting though, if I throw it on a hyzer it doesn't have enough fade to come back and drops almost straight down. I like that I can throw it hard and it has no turn. I can put some anny on it and it fights out of that quickly and then flies straight for awhile before falling out of the sky. The only problem for me is that I play courses that are par3 and it's not a super useful disc on those courses unless I have an awful drive. I think it's a great utility disc but it's not absolutely necessary for me. I carry a Warden for putting, Reko for a throwing putter and straight approaches and a Zone for BH and FH approaches that need some fade. The Berg is a tweener for me. Although, if I have room, I'll take it along because I love it. Rating the numbers at 1/2/0/2.

The glide-less wonder... And I love it! I never knew how much I could love a disc that has such little glide. Due to the lack of glide this disc goes only as far as you throw it, which makes it very predictable. It s also very overstable. A few times I missed my line on the approach and expected this disc to glide too far past the basket, and instead it drops right next to it.

It also works great as a putter into headwinds because of its lack of glide, forehand approaches, and putts that have danger around them and you need to the disc to drop fast if you miss. This is just a disc that has so many uses that I think anyone could use this in their bag. I like the K2 for this disc because the flexibility allows it to hit and stick.

It also feels really good in the hand. I was worried the groove around the disc would feel weird, but it is actually quite comfortable.

This is one of, if not my favorite approach disc. The great thing about this disc is that it is incredibly predictable. It isn't going to go far due to its low speed and low glide so you can absolutely unload on it to shoot through a gap and you know that it isn't going to go past where you want to put it. It will also hold any line you put it on so it is great for getting out of a bind in the woods. I am a spin putter but have used this many times when I have a death putt so that I know that if I miss it won't go past the basket too bad. I don't ever see this disc leaving my bag because I don't know any other disc that does what this one does. The only downside is that the mold is kind of goofy so my grip is different than it is for any of my other dics.

This disc mold just feels great in the hand.  The dimple in the flight plate behind the rim is unique to putters.  The Berg does not dump as much as others have said, but it is a great disc.  K2 in my opinion is like Premium GStar, but maybe a little softer.  This will also satisfy those ASMR tactile types out there.

I love this disc. Now my go to up shot disc from 240 and in. Holds a dead straight line if released flat and is very difficult to overpower. Grabs the ground when it drops straight down out of the sky like a lead balloon. Plastic also feels great!

Ever since the Innova Piranha went out of production in 1996 I have been searching for a suitable replacement.  The Berg is close. Real close. I would even go so far as to say it flies like a beat-in Piranha.

The flight numbers are close to accurate, but high speed turn is between +0.5 and 0. when thrown hard and flat (RHBH) it does pull very slightly left before a modest, dependable fade. It handles hyzer flights and even hyzer spikes very well, very controllably. It doesn't anhyzer the greatest, but it pulls out, and it is a disc you can anhyzer spike with, landing completely flat every time I tried this throw. I tried to turbo putt with it and it just turned into a wacky wobbler.

I don't think this will leave my bag, but I am not sure I will putt with it much. I want to get one now in the K3 plastic to use as a pure putter. Love the feel of the K2 plastic, love the dependable straitness of the flight. The shape and grip will put some people off,but I have always loved traditional Frisbees and thumbtrack golf discs, so the shape feels quite good to me.

In short, I love this disc, I love the plastic, and I even love the 4 dayglow yellow swirls in my white disc.

It's hard to screw up a put with this putter.

I have been using my Vibram VP putter but I was air balling a lot of puts out side of 30 feet just because its hard to figure out the fade for a beginner like myself, so I thought I'd get a new putter for longer puts. Today I bought a K2 Berg and I'm in love with it!!! I had 3 other people try it and not one negative review from them. This disc will take strokes off your score.

    Fun and Useful

I picked up the Berg at the reccomendation of my friend "Pistol" Pete Stegemeyer from Hucking Aces. He told me it was lid-like disc, which I am a big fan of, but honestly, he was wrong. For one, there is a rounded nose and a beveled edge...which eliminate it from contention as a lid. But that doesn't mean it isn't a great disc.

The Berg has a good grip, despite the odd thumbtrac top. It is easy to grip for fan, power or forehand grip. It feels tight and comfortable, and is very intuiative to throw. It has a great floaty glide to it, which is what Pete was likely referring to as a lid-like disc. The Berg is, however, lightly overstable. It is very resitant to turn and has a nice, mild, forward penetrating fade. However, when the speed dies, so does the Berg: it drops quickly out of the sky and hits and sticks. I had little problem turning the Berg over, but giving it height and anhyzer, it will fight out at the end.

The Berg is a good disc that moves in and out of my bag, depending on the course. Fun to throw, and easy to master.

Excellent grip & feel on the K2 plastic. The indented flight plate feels great in the hand and really gives me a lot of confidence heading into any putt. Having gone through 4 different putters in the last year, I think I've finally found what I've been looking for.

I first decided to check out the Berg based on the name.  My last name has Berg in it and thought, "if I ever see one, I'll pick it up".  When I actually put one in my hands, I was shocked how comfortable it was.  The dip near the rim made it fit like a glove.  The K2 plastic it was in was also some of the grippiest plastic I've ever felt, which stuck out to me in a big way as my previous putter kept slipping out of my hand in the cold.  I picked one up in the K2 and K1 plastic right then and there.  It has since replaced my old putter with it's incredible grip.  I use the K2 outside the circle and K1 inside, because I need a stiff putter to push putt.  It has a real lack of glide that I've found to be very helpful in headwinds.  It does have a hard time with distance putts, but then again, I have a hard time as a player with distance putts.

Off the tee, it's more overstable than the ratings made me expect.  It loves to go left (RHBH) almost immediately with a flat release at medium power.  It'll definitely go straighter for longer with a harder throw, but will always get that fade at the end.

The grip can be polarizing, to my understanding.  Some people hate it.  I personally love it.  My recommendation is to go for it.  At worst, you'll grip it and know immediately that you hate it.  You can return it without throwing it.  If you like it, you're golden.

i absolutely love my k2 berg. the plastic is a very unique blend thats grippy and flexy, then there is this incredible rim that comes up and above the flight plate. i compared it to 15 or 20 other putt and approach disc and there just is not anything else like it. some have suggested it has a thumb track, but really my description of the rim rising above the flight plate is much better because a thumb track is actually a raised area of the flight plate next to the rim. and the berg has a  bit of dome in the center of the flight plate that creates more of wide seamless groove on top of the disc. this disc is  s l o w and even with a good powerful rip doesn't go very far. it goes straight fades a little, then sits down.  it's actually not to bad as a putter either you just have to get creative with your grip.  i haven't had any roll away's with this disc but with that massive rounded rim i would think it has the potential to do so. very interesting disc for the short game that feels great in hand......

    Tested: White K2, October 26, 2015.

The Berg was a very interesting disc for me, as I had never thrown a disc of that type of mold. My first few throws with it were either with too much hyzer or with a downward nose angle resulting in a throw into the ground. Once I got the hang of the disc I was getting a consistent release, and was surprised with the stability of the disc. I even threw in a 150 foot throw to save a 3 after going out of bounds with the Berg!

As for putting, I did not like the K2 Berg whatsoever. I am just so used to a more old-school mold of putter (I use a discmania p2) that I just couldn't get used to the feel of the Berg as a putting putter.

I like the Berg as an upshot, approach, and short driving putter. It has a consistent fade and is actually pretty hard to flip over for a putter.

This thing reminds me a lot of the flight of the arrow, but this thing has a much more acceptable profile, yet its still not the best.

Love the groved rim on the outside, and the K2 is really nice feeling, a little slick when wet, very similar to frost or fluid.

It can handle all the power you put at it, and is an awesome approach disc that can be used with tactical precision and every range of power, but it is not a good putter, just doesnt feel right to me. Also cant handle the torque on a forehand shot, where as the arrow can, but for what this disc can do, its good at.

The Berg is a fantastic golf disc. The K2 plastic feels amazing, and is unlike any other plastic I've ever felt. It's flexible and grippy, but not too sticky where it gets too stuck to my hand. I love the grippiness and indented thumbtrack for fan grip approach shots. The Berg is a stable disc, but it really doesn't fade too much at the end of the flight, and it definitely does not fly like a traditional Frisbee. This disc is a tank, and stops on a dime. It hardly skips or rolls and the soft grippy plastic help keep you close to the basket.

When it comes to putting, I could really get used to, and probably thrive with the Berg. I like the big bulky feel of this putter, and the indented thumb grip is something that could help keep a consistent hadn positioning. The natural putting grip I developed keeps my thumb a little farther from the edge of the disc, but I like the idea of making sure you're hand is in exactly the same place every time.

As a driving putter, the Berg also works sufficiently well. Even though it is a tall 2cm putter, the inside rim depth is not too deep for me, in large part becuase the top edge comes down with the thumb track indention. This disc doesn't go far at all and stays put - perfect for those 150-200 foot drives. Because the plastic is not only grippy and durable, this is an excellent all purpose putter. If you're the type of person that likes to use the same disc for your short drives, approach shots, and putts, I'd recommend trying the K2 Berg.
