The Berg is unparalleled: A low glide putter that flies true every time, and will not outdrive the basket. Its aptitude lies in precise landings and eliminating the need for distance control. A distinctive attribute of this disc is its thumbtrack, with a lowered flight plate that almost hugs your hand. Remarkably versatile for both forehands and backhands, the Berg fearlessly accommodates the full extent of your power, steadfast against turnover, and adeptly managing even the most delicate approaches you encounter.

The moment I got my hands on the Berg I loved it. I heard all of the controversies and had to try the disc out for myself, but it really immediately clicked for me. This disc has no mind of it's own. Where you throw it, it will go. It does have a slight fade on it but it really will drop out of the sky. I mostly use it for upshots that I want zero ground play. I have the K1 Soft and I have to say the plastic feels amazing in my hands. It's just solid enough to not flop around but has so much play in it that it just wants to sit as soon as it touches the ground. Looking forward to getting it in more plastics eventually.

Make sure you get the soft plastic because it sticks to those chains! I got it for approaches but I still sometimes grab it for a putt. It really lands and sticks so I use it on hills all the time.

This disc is often hated on, but I find it amazing for approaches. The K1 soft plastic feels so floppy which helps it sit on scary terrain while somehow still being stable and torque-resistant. On a forehand, I can barely flick my and make the disc fly completely straight with no turn or fade, it just drops to the ground. Honestly doesn't come out of my bag a ton, but love it to prevent roll aways, sailing past basket or when I need a dead straight approach

I finally gave the Berg a shot, I had heard the hype but had decided that the unusual design of the disc with its big chunky rim and thumbtrack wasn't for me.  However after purchasing one in the K1 Soft plastic I have to say I am impressed, the Berg really is a great approach disc.  I had usually thrown something more overstable for my approach disc, I had recently been throwing a champion Toro and found it to be a fine disc.  The issue with throwing the real overstable stuff as an approach is that you always have to account for the strong fade, and there are some shots where that adds an extra challenge.  I would find myself having to throw my forehand approach on a slight anhyzer angle to get the Toro to finish straight, or try a sweeping hyzer if I had the room.

The Berg allows you to mostly throw the disc straight at the basket and it has enough fade to let you play around with some different angles, like small flex shots.  It handles forehands just fine and has enough stability where it doesn't turn over easily.  Probably the main idea of the Berg is its very low glide, which allows you to throw a bit harder at your target and removes the "touchy" aspect of the approach shot.  I actually found that the Berg has a little more glide than advertised.  Once it starts slowing down it does kind of drop out of the air without any sort of flare skip, but I didn't find it to be the brick that many people make it out to be.  I didn't have any problems getting this disc out into the 200-220ft range either forehand or backhand.

The K1 Soft plastic feels good, but as a warning it is very soft and gummy.  It's verging on being floppy, which I don't mind too much, but I could see some people preferring a firmer plastic.  Obviously Kastaplast makes the Berg in a variety of plastics so you should be able to find the type of plastic you prefer.

The sawzall of disc golf. It gets most jobs done. Best turbo putter ever made, great roller, and straight flier the berg is here to work. Released on an anny or flat is best. For hyzer releases grab the berg-x.

The Berg does what it is advertised to do: fly straight for a bit and then fall out of the air.

This is definitely noticeably different from any other disc I have thrown (except the Armadillo being close), which I did not think about some other one speeds (Birdie and Polecat).

It has pretty good torque resistance.

I love the Berg. I throw it on most approaches unless they are better suited for my Toro. This disc goes dead straight, forehand or backhand, no matter how hard you rip on it. Super reliable, super good in the hand, super fun to throw. 100/10 would throw again. I bag two, one in K1 soft one in K3 line. Usually I prefer the K1 soft if I really need to rip on it as I find it a touch more stable and the K3 line for shorter approaches, but both are great. I will say, in terms of hand feel K1 soft may be the best plastic I have ever felt.

Where do Bergs go? They go in. Both the basket and my bag.

Really good putter for controlling distance and handling the wind. It can handle forehand power better than any other putter out there as well. It is basically the quintessential beefy 1 speed disc. It stops on a dime as well, so it's great for throw in attempts. Not great for glidey shots and distance but otherwise excellent

    Everyone needs a Berg!

Great disc to learn on, will hold any line you put it on and the low glide is very forgiving if you miss release because it's quick to the ground. After throwing this disc 10 times you know exactly what it will do and will find yourself in "Berg" situations multiple times throughout a round regardless of your skill level. Ace-running a short hole-Berg shot, approaching a tricky basket surrounded by hazards-Berg shot, need to punch out of the rough-Berg shot.

Not to mention the K1 soft Berg is without a doubt the best feeling I've ever had holding a disc. The slightly raised edge gives my thumb that "locked-in" feeling knowing I can really rip on this thing if needed. It's also reassuring in variable conditions, or when it's wet knowing that raised edge will provide a bit of extra grip and "snap" when you release.

Of all the 1 speed discs, this one is by far the most comfortable in the hands for me. And the thumb track is comfortable too since it's rounded and blends into the shape of the disc. It doesn't fly far, so you don't have to worry about overshooting the basket. It's surprisingly torque resistant, but doesn't have a lot of lateral play. Even if it starts to fade, the disc itself goes pretty straight with little ground play. I've used it quite successfully on both forehand and backhand.

Ah yes, the beautiful, beautiful Berg. When I have a Berg in my hand, it's about to get weird. The Berg is a premiere disc if you follow a few rules.

    1. Don't putt with it

    2. Be tall

    3. Forehand that sucka on an anhyzer

If you get the angle right, you can make a forehand anhyzer hit the basket from 100 feet out at least a few times a round. This is the ultimate "chain out" disc. Let your card mates point and laugh when you whip it out, but be sure and notice their faces when you throw in 80 foot throw after 80 foot throw.

This Disc CHANGED My Approach Game

I was genuinely a person that didn't really have any expectations when I tried this disc. I bought it while I was on a trip, I threw it in a field, and was like "Hm, that's definitely unique." After playing some rounds and being frustrated with my approach shots, I decided I would try to use the Berg for the heck of it, and it really made me understand the value and appreciation for this disc. I went from feeling like my approach shots were the weak-point of my game, to feeling like it was actually my strong-suit. The one thing I will say, is I think the Berg is generally a touch more over-stable than people give it credit for. Many times I've felt like I've released it flat, and then it's immediately holding a hyzer line. I think people tend to talk about and treat the Berg like it's a 0 or even a 1 fade, but I'd say that it's definitely a 2 fade like it's labeled (maybe more neutral if beat in and in base plastic?). BUT what I've really appreciated is that the flight hasn't changed at all, as far as I can tell since I bought it in July (5 months ago) and used it as one of my primary approach shots (about 6 throws a round). If you haven't tried a Berg, it's truly a must! Just ask a friend if you can try theirs and check it out, or pick one up and throw it in that spare bag you have to let your novice friends try out!

I've been looking for a putter to become my main headwind putter and this does exactly that. I can't speak for any of the other plastics but I can throw this on a straight line 200 feet from the basket and expect it to land no more than circle's edge away on a windy day. I know people love putting with this disc but I have found the innova pig and rhyno to be my go to's for that. Overall, Berg is love berg is life. You should at least try it to see if you like it because chances are it will fit for some type of throw in your bag.

Ok, so after using this disc more and more I'm going to change my rating to a 5 stars. I still think that it is a bad disc to use in the wind but it is just so useful outside of windy days that I want to stay positive on it :)

A really great disc under specific conditions but I wouldn't replace my main approach disc with it for several reasons.

    The Good:

    1. Gives you a direct throw at the basket with a chance for it to go in without going too far past
    2. Lands soft so good for hazardous greens
    3. Lets you throw with more power to avoid touchy shots

    The Bad:

    1. Horrible in the wind. It'll get toyed with or batted down. I'll use my Zone or Envy every single time instead of this when it is 10mph wind or higher (most days here).
    2. The K1 Soft stability is fairly touchy. It could fade, go straight or even turnover a bit depending how much power you put on it. This is controllable with practice but not really ideal in an approach disc.
    3. I'm not even going to try to putt with it. That's ridiculous.

The soft plastic is so solid and it’s my safe choice as an approach disc. Generally straight with a tiny dip at the end. You can’t over throw it really cause it just wants to sink and it’s sticks to the ground better than any of my other discs. It’s okay as an actual putter… but like a little too gummy and slippy sometimes.

    (K1soft plastic, 175g)

This has become my main putter and frequent approach disc. I find it very reliable for just about any shot under 300ft. it is very comfortable in the hand.

For approach it flies straight and then dies.

For putting, I put with this inside of 50ft, but have a faster putter for putts I want to run from 50-100ft. I find that the K1 soft plastic likes to spit out when it hits left side chains, but really clings to right side chains (RH). If you miss your putt with this, it generally just dies on the ground like a hockey puck. However, if it does catch edge on a hill it has a tendency to hold edge and roll a long way, again like a hockey puck.

The Berg is one of the most unique discs on the market. It is the only disc I can throw forehand full power and get a dead straight shot and not go past 230'. It is the perfect combination: unrivaled distance control on a straight flyer. Overstable utility discs like the Baobab, Loki, Stego, etc. are great for distance control, but are very overstable and won't be ideal for straight shots. The Berg is the answer. And in the K1 Soft plastic, it just hits the ground and sticks. When I throw the Berg on the course, I get one of two reactions. It's either "what disc was that?!" or "Man, I love the Berg." If you throw all discs 5-speed or greater the same distance, you may not truly appreciate how unique the Berg is. But I sure wouldn't discourage you from trying it.

Personally, I think that the berg is one of the most overrated disc on the market. Everyone that know who throws it claims it will stick where it lands and not skip, slide or roll away. After throwing it extensively, I can say I've seen it do all of these. The berg does not do anything special that can't be done with any overstable putter.

With that being said, it's not a terrible disc and if you are looking for an overstable putter on the slower speed but want a more premium plastic, this disc may be for you.
