I got this disc to use in tailwinds, as I live in Oklahoma, and get the chance to play in windy conditions every day. I really like this disc, it has a very predictable flight. I didn't find it as understable as the numbers claimed, but I don't mind. For an understable disc, I almost never turn it over. You can get a lot of distance out of this disc even if you don't have a super high arm speed. Love it!

I got this disc in Star plastic simply for long shots to the right (RHBH). I cannot throw forehands off the tee box so I needed something reliable to go to the right and stay to the right. This disc can be a little finicky as some other reviewers have stated, but typically thrown flat this disc replaces forehand drives. Also, on wide open long shots, thrown on a pretty sharp hyzer this disc will definitely glide and hit some of your longer drives for beginners and intermediate players. One of my new favorite discs.

I'm adding to this to my previous review - if you're looking for a disc to drive on an uphill shot off the tee- this to me is hands down the best disc. I recently played in a tournament where hole 18 is almost a 65 degree incline with a mando. I hit the middle of the fairway every time with the Mamba. I recommend throwing it flat, almost without any additional loft or height on the release and the glide and turn just force this disc up the hill.

If you go to a glossary of terms for disc golf, you will find the term understable. What needs to accompany this should be a description and picture of the Innova Mamba. As I've said before, Innova always tends to nail it with their flight ratings, save for the Wahoo. They REALLY nailed it with the Mamba. If you have any semblance of an experienced arm, you are going to drive this thing hooking into the ground, if not rolling at an extremely acute angle. And really, I don't throw many rollers so I can't speak to its effectiveness in that area. I wish I would have thrown this when I was newer so that I could have maybe used it as a first distance driver. Using it now, I can say its EXTREMELY touchy. You really need to dial in a precise release angle or you're going to be in real trouble. I would rather, much rather, have a stable disc that's been beat for my flex shots than this disc. Having said that, I also want to say that this particular disc is very stable as well, without much rhyme or reason. In fact, every couple throws I really do wonder if its a Mamba at all. I did get a factory second, so sometimes I am unconvinced its the correct mold. I can tell you my disc and experience is very different, though. I have thrown other Mambas and can tell you that if you buy this disc as a beginner, you're set. Its a great platform to learn shot shaping. As an experienced or pro player, tailwind and roller shots suddenly have a new outlet to really crush some distance. I can't find it in my hear to rate it anything less then four out of five, but no more than that either. I just don't like discs that are too niche in their use or specialised.

PROS: Good specialized disc to fit requirements of new and experienced players.

CONS: There is a chance you won't be reaching for it as much as you thought you would be when you first bought it.

I had an opportunity to get a new 170g Factory Second Star Mamba at half price, so I thought I'd take a flier on it (pun fully intended).  I've worked with it on the range and on the course.  First the good:  thrown correctly, it will go far with some turn and then some fade back.  I can get decent distance when I don't throw it as hard as I possibly could.

On the not-so-good side, throw this into a headwind and it's "ugly".  On a calm day it's okay, but the Mamba definitely is not to be recommended on days with any wind in one's face..

I will re-evaluate the Mamba when I become more experienced and get my form and technique really down.  (Edited 5/20/15)  And that re-evaluation is that the Mamba is a good understable disc.  It works well on uphill throws (where understable discs tend to do better), I can hyzer-flip it, and I also often put a slight anny on it to make it go right (RHBH) when I need it.  Very understable, it can be touchy, but I really like it on relatively calm days.
