Summary: The baseline for all overstable fairway drivers.

Feel: The Swirly Star Tour Series plastic is very very nice. It's got the grip of Star and the durable feeling of something like Champion. The wing shape is very comfortable, not too tall and not too short. It's not too wide nor too thin, easy to hold and comfortable to the fingers in a power grip.

Flight: I was a beginner when I started throwing an Eagle, where it flew like how you see pros throwing Firebirds. It would be slightly straight and then dump out and always skip quite far or high. Spending some time with it, either through adding distance or beating it in, it will be a fantastic flier that is like a midrange with an extra 50-100 feet.

The eagle is an amazing disc that feels like the definition of a fairway driver. Definitely feels like a classic mold from the 90's. My favorite thing is the forgiving nature this disc has in terms of release angle. It's definitely overstable out of the box though, the only reason that I wouldn't recommend this disc too fast.

This review is for the swirly star Eagle, specifically the different Gregg Barsby Signature runs, which is what most swirly star ones are. I also throw and love champ and color glow Eagles, but they fly a little different. Beginners can throw these and do okay with them, but I really think that people who make them shine are more intermediate to advanced players.

Also, the Eagle has the X-mold, which is what the swirly star ones are, and the discontinued L-mold (the Infinite Discs Exodus is <ahem>"suspiciously like" the Eagle-L).

2019 Barsby- The first year of his signature Eagle and the most OS. These things fly like a mini Firebird. I absolutely love them for overstable control shots. You can't really turn these things over. They fly straight and then dump hard. Yes if you really try to turn them over you can, but that would probably be throwing like garbage trying to force a turnover. They take a while to break in, but when they do they're a beautiful disc.

2020- These were much more stable (meaning straight (not OS)) and could even flip a little for me. Someone online lost their mind when I said this once, but I think they were throwing a 2019, and confused about the years. These flew a little longer, and straighter overall, and is a great fairway driver. As a reference they fly very much like a good FD2 for me.

2021- Bight colors and bright stamps on these. Really a classic Eagle flight on these, which is a good thing. I end up always bagging a 19 and mixing a 20 or 21 to compliment it. These were more overstable than the 20's and less OS than the 19's in my experience.

Notable players to use this mold frequently are Gregg Barsby (obviously), Calvin Heimburg, and I believe Jeremy Koling (talks about them specifically the L version in an in the bag video).

Similar discs to the Eagle-X are the FD2, and the Exodus for the Eagle-L.

The eagle is by far my favorite fairway driver of all time. The dependable fade helps form an overstable flight pattern for backhand and forehand throws. I go to this disc when I need to reach around 370+. I recommend this disc for people who have a strong flick and solid backhand.

I love my Eagle for my more over stable fairway driver to compliment my Teebird. I can rip the eagle pretty hard and it will flip up to flat and then have that nice fade out. I lean towards this disc as my go to fairway driver on windy days over my Teebird, it also holds up to forehands better as well. I have chosen to bag the Eagle over my F1 for now.

The smoky gray swirls on my disc are awesome, one of the best looking discs I own.

This swirled star Eagle is way beefier than my champion Eagle. I cannot get any turn out of it.

It is useful when you need to have a controlled shot but also finish way to the left. It is also very reliable in a headwind as I know it will not burn over.

I am a fan of this disc but I still end up reaching for my champion eagle more often.

I started learning disc golf on Innova discs (Boss, Leopard, Teebird, Aviar, etc.) For the last two years or so I have been throwing Trilogy and Discraft because I prefer the feel of those discs over Innova. With that said, I am so thankful I traded a Ti Buzzz with one of my buddies in my club for his 2018 Signature Barsby Swirly Star Eagle. This disc is MONEY. Either straight 280-300' forehands or forehands on flex lines, I trust this disc more than any in my bag, even moreso than my slightly lightweight Longbowman. Whatever line I put this disc on, I know it will always fight out for a predictable moderate right skip. I cannot tell you how this disc flies on backhand because I have almost never used it for that shot (usually turn to an Undertaker or a midrange) but I think I will have this disc in my bag until I lose it or it breaks. Quality disc that helps out a quality golfer by buying one (Obviously Barsby, not me)!

I love the control on this disc. I got the Gregg Barsby Swirly Star. It looks so good! This really fills the gap in my bag between midrange and Thunderbirds, wraiths, etc. there’s a reason pros use this thing. It is reliable.
