My straightest flying mid after being beaten in. 300' frozen rope straight. I will always have one in my bag.

Not a fan of how Innova does their overmolds. Unlike MVP family, it is not seamless. The connectors are on the underside of the disc and you can touch them. That being said, they are spaced out and you can grip around them. Just a little bit picky thing about the disc for me. However, the flight is very nice on these discs and makes a really great straight flyer. I do like the idea that Innova is going for with their overmolds because the softer outer plastic does feel nice. Just wish they connected it more seamlessly.

Nice flat flight.  Star mix 175g.    I like the flight of this disc, but it is too grippy for me.  I find a bit of grip lock and often throw to the right.  if I played a lot of wet grass or rain games I would keep it in my bag.

    UPDATED REVIEW

Looking back at when I initially reviewed this... dang I was a noob. That being said, I was right about how amazing this disc is. It never left my bag until I got my first ace with it, and now it hangs on my wall, replaced with another in the same plastic and weight.

The Atlas is my favorite neutral flying mid-range by a longshot. I know a lot of people prefer the Mako line, or even discs with just a touch more fade, but the Atlas has been a bread and butter disc for me both with my old throwing style, and after relearning to throw right. It's just the epitome of reliability. The disc has just enough glider to get it a long way down the fairway, just enough fade to make sure it goes where you want it to, and just enough rim for you to get a good grip, but not so much that the release is different every time.

This is a disc that I feel can be a boon in the bag of both new players and advanced players. It's a great disc for anyone who wants a disc that is easily thrown backhand or forehand, has pinpoint accuracy, and good durability. This is a must in any players bag.

One of the most common complaints I hear about molds like the Atlas or the Nova, both of which are in my bag, is that the nubs on the bottom make it weird to hold. I found a magic trick to help with this issue... rotate the disc about 5 degrees. MIND BLOWN! While I honestly do prefer the overmold style of other companies over Innova, the way Innova mashes the two plastics together is not a detriment by any means.

    ORIGINAL REVIEW

I like this disc. This thing flies extremely straight when thrown flat, and like others have said, can hold a line very well. The over-mold feels good in the hands unless you catch one of the nubs below (why does Innova do this when companies like MVP have figured out how to avoid it?) at which point, you just adjust your grip.

I like that this disc feels pretty close to the Roc in regards to the wing, so you can have a pseudo mold-minimalism going where there is only a subtle difference. This is my current go-to disc for shots I need to go straight and don't want any fade at the end. I have just ordered a Mako3, which by all reports is a better version of the Atlas, but only time will tell. I will still likely keep this in the garage as a backup even if it does get replaced since this disc is so completely reliable.

This was the first midrange that I liked and could use consistently. I used this when I was around twelve or so and it really helped me get better at throwing shorter distances with confidence. It does feel very good in the hand, but I think the star blend is by far the best for feel and for flight.

Great midrange, it is a very neutral flying disc. with a 350-400 ft arm If you put it on anny it will hold it and pan out at the end of the flight, if you put it on hyzer it will flip up and hold straight with gentle fade at the end. This is the midrange I wish I started with. It does exactly what you ask of it. consistently.

The Atlas is by far the most versatile disc I've thrown. I have had my star Atlas for 3-4 years now, most courses I play are very wooded, so I throw it on the majority of my drives and can get more distance from it than my card mates do throwing fairways and distance drivers. It holds the line you put it on with speed, but doesn't turn over until it gets pretty beat up. This is my go to for a one disc challenge. I highly recommend for any players that have a background playing ultimate.

Disc: 165g Star Mix Atlas (red & yellow)

I really liked the flight of the Atlas that I threw. It goes super straight and is easy to throw. Great beginner disc and durable with the overmold technology.

Flight: The Atlas is a very straight flyer. It has decent glide too for a mid. Just point and shoot (and if you know how to throw) and it will go right at the target. You can put it on hyzer and it will gently fade. Same (but opposite flight) when you put it on an anhyzer -- simple gently turn as it glides to the ground.

Use: You can pretty much use the Atlas anywhere you feel comfortable. It flies straight and can be maneuvered on any gentle lines. No hard turn or fade with this one, so it's great for tunnel shots or just open longer approach shots.

Summary: The Atlas is a great disc and great for beginners. I don't personally love the feel of the overmold, so it didn't make my bag, but that's just a personal thing. This disc is great and flies just how you want it to. I'm just already comfortable with other discs that can do the same thing (a.k.a. Roc & Mako)

    166g Star Mix Atlas

This disc has found its way into and out of my bag, but not for any glaring reason. It flies straight with a slight fade at finish.  It holds any line you put it on, so it works great for a long BH hyzer or turnover.  It shows pretty decent control in the wind for as light as it is. Some reviewers don't like the knobs on the underside, but they don't bother me at all. I'm not sure why this disc leaves my bag once in a while.  It does what I ask it to do, but isn't flashy.  I'm pretty much talking myself into really liking this disc.

I bought a prototype Star plastic, sky blue plate, pastel green rim. It didn't get a weight written on it. But, when I bought it, it was the lightest out of all of the rest. 165G. I held on to it for many years, never throwing it. I finally decided to throw it two days ago... I whipped it with some anhyzer... It sailed so beautiful, and straight with a bit of an S... Shooting straight for the basket... That would have been my third ace, I do believe it might some day get an ace, or more under it's lid.  The rim is very accommodating for all gripping purposes. Easy on the hands. Amazing for mid drives, mid range, putt, turbo, forehand, and backhand. I would consider this as a control mid range. Try and get one with a flat top, literally like a plate, like mine. Glide is there. Gentle stability is there, will both carve annie, and come back with an accuracy. Putting is very straight, the disc does extremely well with putts. If you're forced to have to use two discs in a flips or something, give this a try. The rubber overmold loves to stick where it lands, or, otherwise grip and roll. (Overhead rollers on an OB road to gain speed and distance to get to the hole, and then watch it curl up under the basket?) Turbos, it allows plenty of spin, and the flat disc will obey a straight line. This is my initial observations about this particular disc, I will definitely be utilizing this disc more often.

I have to be honest, I wasn't too sure about this disc at first, but it is a very unique disc (for Innova at least) and it comes in handy.  It is relatively straight, with just a little fade that you can depend on.  It sticks pretty well to the ground, and doesn't skip or slide a lot, which can come in handy for good placement shots next to the basket.  Another strength to this disc is when thrown forehand; it can go straight and far (farther then you would think) with a nice smooth flight, as long as you don't overpower it.  Overall, it is a great disc!  (get the Star mix)

Somehow, I still don't have an ace with my 180g Atlas... This is the go-to disc for any straight shot within 250'. This is the only neutral midrange I carry, because I like the controllability given to it by the slight stability. I throw my Atlas with a fan grip, and I find that If I throw it with a power grip, it becomes more understable and I lose almost all my accuracy.

My go to for anything under 275 ft back hand.  Tightly wooded course? no problem.  I am very impressed with the durability!  I keep the a champion for flat release and a star mix for a little turn over or anhyzer shots, there will always be a place in my bag for this disc.

This disc is along and straight midrange that is great for tunnel shots that you would need to stay straight. This disc has great glide so it can be thrown low and it will continue down the fairway. This disc also sets down fairly well when it hits the ground.

The gummy outer rim will not only add grip for control but also add durability and shock absorption for tree hits.  The Atlas will glide out in the intended direction laterally more so than a more overstable disc such as a Roc3.  Great for sidearm upshots and rollers as well.  The Atlas is a very trusty, durable, and versatlie disc!

Okay disc. It may meet your needs, it flies as advertised. I prefer a little more glide with my mid-ranges than I got with the Atlas. Felt almost like a putter the way is just dies when it slows down.

If you are a newer player, the atlas might be useful to you. I was excited about the overmold technology thinking that a weighted perimeter would allow for a straight-finishing disc that could handle power. (MVP has had pretty good success in this field.) The atlas was a disappointment for me. The flight plate is thin and the disc is floppy compared to a normal premium plastic mid-ranges. This disc cannot handle much power without turning right (RHBH). Throw it with control and finesse and it will drop very straight. This being said, I don't like floppy discs so I give this one a thumbs down.

I personally do not have one but have seen these fly. They look sweet up in the air on a flick throw. My friend tosses these kinda throws alot and even though they fly pretty straight, you can still maneuver around some trees up here in PA. The double plastic threw me off at first but seems to be fine gliding in the air longer then any mid range I have in my bag. Maybe up for a switch for a mid range disks or just another add in the bag.

I got my Innova Atlas as a player pack in Innova Southeast Collegiate Open (SECO) at International Disc Golf Center, Appling, GA. I personally don't like max weight disc as I consider myself as an intermediate player. However, for mid-range and putter, I will ask for max weight again and again. I have a max weight Atlas (180 gm) in red&black (UGA color)produced by Innova for SECO and boy I love this disc so much. For pins within 300 ft range, either wooded or open I will consider this disc. I normally use prodigy pa-2 for distance upto 225 ft which requires flat to slight hyzer lines. To use this disc, you have to put only required power; do not over power this disc, especially in an anhyzer and flat throw. You can over power it in hyzer line though, but probably not in wooded course; you may find some early trees in that case. As I mentioned, this is a disc for controlled shots upto 350 ft. I use this disc for approach shots as well. For low ceiling shots, go for it; you will get remarkable glide and slight skips at the end. I found that this disc holding its true line; for example, if you throw good anhyzer line it will follow the line till it hits the ground unless you are throwing it above 30 ft high. On a good hyzer line, it does follow the line but its tendency is always to flip up and fly straight. With enough power and flat throw, it flies straight like an arrow with a minimal fade at the end. This disc helped me to win my second SECO tournament. Obviously it is going to be in my bag forever. I will consider buying couple more from Infinite discs soon.

the fact that innova has come out with this disc tells me they are worried about the newcomer MVP taking to much of there market share. innova was once a great company who introduced great golf disc on the cutting edge. but over the last decade they have released one unimpressive mold change after another all with a fancy new name and all very cleverly marketed to take your money. I bought one of these just to see how it compared to an mvp disc and it is my opinion that innova is blatantly attempting to infringe on the patent pending technology of the newer company. this is a decent midrange and i am not surprised innova has always made good disc and the have the lions share of the market with the tons of disc they manufacture not only under there own name, but for other brands to like millenium and discmania. sorry innova but your no longer getting my money because there are to many other disc manufacturers out there that are producing quality disc on the cutting edge of technology and not just trying to take my money !

My Atlas is yellow with a green rim, 171 grams. When this disc first came out, I saw no need for it because my Buzzzes are so good. Also, I wasn't sure how the compass points on the underside of the disc would affect grip and release. I wanted to feel an Atlas to find out. I had decided not to get one of these until I saw several of my buddies throwing this disc. It flies so straight!

The grip of the disc has not been an issue for me because the compass points are spaced far enough apart to allow for a comfortable grip. The feel of the disc is very interesting, especially on the release. Due to the firm flight plate and the soft rim, this disc makes an interesting sound. Kind of hard to explain. Also, I have hit trees with the Atlas and have seen no visible damage on the soft rim. As far as the flight goes, anhyzer releases go forward quickly and hold the turn all the way to the ground. Hyzer releases will flip up a little bit, but stay straight until finishing softly left. On a high-power throw, this disc stays straight for the whole flight or sometimes turns slightly to the right.

Don't expect this disc to come back left very much. On low-powered throws and approaches, this disc goes straight for half the flight and then falls softly to the left as it loses speed. I found that the Atlas is not very good for flick shots, unless you flick it for a short distance. The Atlas is really unlike any disc I have ever thrown, just because of how straight it flies. If I had to compare it to discs, I would say it's similar to a Buzzz or my Gold Line Mace. I'm probably keeping this disc now and it might knock out my Buzzzes.

The feel of the Atlas to me, is it's major selling point. Super gummy rim that hits and sticks. Comfortable on the hand, smooth rim, clean release, it's fantastic!

Straight flight with a bit of power, and on a gentle toss it has gentle fade at the end. Predictable, reliable.

In Star Mix, on warm days, this plastic tends to warp a bit.  Definitely requires proper storing.  None of the lazily stacked on other discs.  That problem is solved a bit with the Champion mix, and XT plastic.

    Still, a great flyer.

Just played my first round with this disc and gotta say im already looking into getting a second. Birdied first 3 holes i threw. Teeing off all three w this. 2. 180' holes and one 288'. Flyes straight and fades perfect. Held any line i threw. At this rate i may stop carrying my buzzs if this holds up with wear. Great disc, def worth checking out.

My first time using the Atlas was during league play. For testing purposes, I committed to use it as my only mid and ended up getting my best score ever on the short B-tees (which meant I drove with it on most of the holes). During my next round using the Atlas as my only midrange disc I set a new personal best overall score. If scores during actual rounds are an indication of good discs, then the Atlas deserves five stars. The Innova Atlas is a unique disc. It looks MVP like, but the softer rim and completely flat top give it a unique feel.

Like it says, the Atlas is a straight flying midrange. It has a very minor, forward penetrating fade that makes for a great accurate flight. Not sure if it's just the coloring, but this disc really seems to float in the air during its flight. It seems slower than a speed 5 to me but glides well. I used it on many throws where I would normally use a putter. This disc also holds an anhyzer angle very well for backhand shots that you want to curve to the right. While trying to throw with more power, the Atlas did flip over and burn for me. I wouldn't recommend it if you're trying to throw long or really hard. There are better golf discs for that purpose.

Another thing I don't like about the Atlas, are the atlas points where they are molded into the disc. I tend to dig my fingers deep into the rim and if I hit one of those points, it bothers me and I have to reoadjust my grip. In cold weather I really loved the grip of the Atlas rim, but when it's hot, it's a little too grippy for me and I have issues griplocking it.

The Star Atlas tends to warp very easily, especially in heat, but if you just set it flat on a table for a few days, it will resume it's shape.

If you're looking for an accurate precision disc for short straight midrange drives and approach shots, the Atlas is as good as any. I question how durable the dual plastic makeup will be, but for a new disc right out of the box it's a winner.
