This is probably one of my two most overstable discs. The 13 speed is a bit much for my level and power, yet this still has shown usefulness for me as it provides an unconquerable fade; and throwing into the wind, I can still get pretty good distance without risking a disc flipping over on me like most others can in the same circumstances. I haven't used it near water hazards as yet, but I do like the fact that the Blizzard plastic will float. It seems to have some good durability as well, which is always a big plus: then discs' flight patterns aren't changing too quickly on you, edges aren't becoming uncomfortably rough for throwing, and you're not having to retool your bag or replace discs that are too far gone.

Crazy big speed disc for me but its pretty nice. comes off on a flat line and fades out pretty quick but gives nice distance and a decent anhyzer line.

I love my Blizzard Ape. No it will not be your every hole distance driver. But if you are aware of what it is when you buy it, you won't have any qualms. I bought it to be my most overstable disc. The one that I can pull out out a dogleg left and let it rip and trust it'll bend hard. I love the blizzard weight one because I can throw it with ease and for me it truly keeps a pretty straight line for a bit before the hard fade. I know some people say it fades almost instantly but I have not found that to be the case. Blizzard plastic could be a big reason for that. My local courses tend to favor holes bending left, so I get a lot of use out of this disc and can rely on it to do what I need. Also a good utility disc when having to go around an object like a big tree. Open space to the right? Just start it out there and no need to worry about it coming back left at the end.

Again, not a disc for everyone, and would likely frustrate beginners who just want one or two drivers to use on every hole, but if you use it for what it is it can be a very useful disc to have in your bag.

Got this disc hoping that the speed and super light weight (low 120s) would lessen the stability enough to be able to throw, but it's still a meathook. Because of the light weight, I don't think it would be a great wind disc even with the stability, but if you've got the superhuman arm to throw it, try it out. Us mortals should avoid it.

The Blizzard Ape is my furthest flying disc and is one that the wind can carry. Anytime there is a tail wind and I need distance I reach for this disc, I put it on a huge anhyzer with power. As the disc follows the anhyzer in the wind it flies forever and then the stability of the disc brings the disc out of the flight and still finish consistently. The disc is not as stable as it says in the blizzard plastic though

I use a blizzard Ape specifically for 1 type of shot, hyzer over/around/next to water. My home course is at a lake and 1/2 of the holes are next to the water. I've learned the hard way to find something that floats or be super accurate, and usually the floating disc wins! The Ape in the blizzard plastic still has a lot of stability and wants to finish left(RHBH). It holds up in the wind pretty good 20 mph or less. I was lucky enough to find 2 Blizzard apes that were super flat and those are were its at. Those discs will hold a slight anhyzer line and then come back to stable. Sadly I'm down to 1 now as a flowing river took one away to parts unknown. All the other blizzard Apes that I've had have been pop top and super OS. If you are looking for a lighter weight disc that will still have a good amount of stability then the Ape is what you need. The only bad thing about Blizzard plastic is is chews up pretty easily so durability in the long run can be a factor. Blizzard plastic isn't as durable as Champion plastic so be aware. It still holds its characteristics very well so don't be turned off.

The Blizzard Ape is very underrated in my opinion. I used one right when they came out, and they were much more understable than I was hoping for. Flash forward to now, and I decided to try out another Blizzard Ape.

With the release of Prodigy Air, Discraft Z-Lite, and Latitude 64's lightweight plastic variations, it is clear that Innova has really stepped up their lightweight plastic. The 143 Blizzard Ape I purchased was the very first blizzard disc I could ever throw a forehand with. After some test throws, I was consistently throwing a forehand about 420 feet, which is 45 feet farther than my average distance shot with a forehand. I couldn't quite get the shot down and the Ape never made it into the bag for forehand shots, but I don't think it is a disc to underestimate in the Blizzard plastic.

I love to use my Blizzard Ape on hard uphill shots. It comes out of the hand extremely fast, and the light weight plastic helps it maintain that speed where the air is light. When I'm throwing uphill is when I get the most power out of my throws, and the Blizzard Ape is still almost too overstable for the uphill shot I'm looking for.

If you were a blizzard skeptic like me, try one out. The Blizzard Ape is impressive, and can benefit a player that thinks that the blizzard plastic isn't for them.

Was my second disc, found it on top of a pavilian, had to climb to get get it. I am not strong enough to throw it to its potential, but I love the overstable curve and can get around 300' out of it (RHBH). It has a very predictable flight pattern and is good for getting a nice S curve. I will always have some form of Ape in my bag. Would not recomend for someone just learning how to play as it will promote a bad habit of releasing your discs late or far to the right.

Let's talk about the Blizzard Ape, folks.  Interesting, fun disc.

    • The idea of Blizzard plastic is to make the discs lighter for guys and gals who haven't had their Wheaties.
    • The idea of speed 13 discs such as the Ape, is for people who do nothing but eat Wheaties all day to go out and blast the discs at lightspeed so they actually stay in the air at the speed they were designed for,

so let's just let that set in.  What we have here is a contradiction that's a lot of fun to throw anyway.  Noodle arms, y'all still goin left.  Save the Blizzard Apes for Avery Jenkins' Desert Distance Tour 2015.

One of my favorites.  I have three in blizzard plastic, each seasoned and beat in a little differently.  This thing absolutely soars and is one of my most dependable discs when I need a strong hook at the end. Very few discs in my bag come close to being as consistent as my apes!

The first thing that attracted me to this disc was the bright color. The second thing was that it was close enough to a boss, which I had to retire due to the dye pattern. This disc flew well at first, but after a while it became just one of those disc that laid dormant in the back of the bag. It's a good disc to have, but this disc wasn't screaming my name.

I only bought this disc because I found a cheap Blizzard. I certainly don't have the arm for the heavier weights. That being said I was able to launch this one almost 400 feet. Still don't recommend it for heavily wooded holes, but one those wide open ones watch fly.

I have a Blizzard Ape in the 150's. It's light and able to turn enough to provide plently of distance before it gives me that predictable fade that I am used to. I compare it to a Discraft Nuke. If I am on a course with lots of long holes, this lighter weight disc is an arm saver. It's my most used distance driver, but beware, in windy conditions this disc is less reliable

This is a disc that is for more experienced players, and I have not found myself to be in that position yet. I bought a light (138g) Blizzard Ape and have not enjoyed particularly because I don't have the best arm to throw it, and it's way too light. I feel like the only time I use it is when I want to practice forehands with multiple discs. Be careful when buying the ape (you're really going to need a great arm, and insanely good form.

The Ape can be really overstable but I love the blizzard in 150g for my forehand drives. I can always count on the way it flies and that big fade with a skip. I would recomend this disc to a sidearm player with decent strength but I would't go lighter than 150g.

I found a Blizzard Ape (around 150g). It was quite worn and is still ridiculously over stable. Suitable only for big arm players or those who live in Kansas dealing with tornadoes.
