The Maverick has a spot in nearly every player’s bag. The Maverick's smaller rim offers controllable fairway speed and straighter flights for slower arms, with trustworthy anhyzers and slow turns for experienced players. The Maverick is great in the woods with low ceilings and tunnel shots.

My Flight Ratings: 7/5/-1.5/2 Somewhat Beginner Friendly Throwing Distance: N/A Straight Score: N/A

Once I could throw putters and midranges predictably to 250 feet, I decided to start trying out 7-speed drivers. The Leopard and Valkyrie from my starter packs were too light and beaten in to perform reliably, so I went for heavier weights and more durable plastics in my next fairway drivers.

I found a Lucid Maverick here with a slightly off-center stamp and went for it. I love the glide and stability of my Lucid EMac Truth, and have not been disappointed with my Maverick. It will hold a long anhyzer line, with a slight fade as it slows down, unless thrown at top speeds. I can hyzer flip it for straight shots by throwing it just a little bit harder.

I have found this disc to have higher glide than the numbers predict. Thrown on an anhyzer line with a bit of extra height, this disc follows a great S-curve for an easy 325-350 feet. My only disc better for distance at this speed is my C-Line FD, a famously smooth glider. I'm excited to see how these two discs perform as they beat in, and whether the relative understability of the Maverick becomes a factor (due to my increasing arm speed) before the condition of the discs does. This is a great first 7-speed for golfers working on their form and speed for that next level of distance beyond midranges.
