If you want a great all around putter, this is probably it.

The big z plastic on my roach lends itself well to throwig more than putting. The slickness is fine for me as I tend to not have overly dry hands, but it would definitely be noticeable if you tend to struggle with that. The durability of the big z plastic is definitely noticable too, I've hit many trees, roads, and even fences, but have yet to see anything more extreme than a colored mark of the rim.

The depth is very similar to the luna, just a slight bit deeper. For putting, it does feel a little taller which I never saw a problem with personally. The rim is definitely rounded, making it a little harder to rest the index finger on while putting, but not impossible. I was more partial to throwing as the premium plastic was a bit too slick for putting. Throwing it felt great as it was nice and straight with just a hint of finish, potentially from the more premium plastic.

If you're looking for a replacement for a luna, this would definitely be worth the try.

This disc is by far the most under rated disc on the market. I don't understand why this isn't the most popular putter on the planet.

I originally found the roach when switching putters. I had been putting with an Aviar X3 and was very much frustrated with the lack of glide hard fade. After putting for a year with it, I finally decided to switch.

I had bought a multitude of putters. From the Luna, Aviar, Challenger, Wizard, and more. After putting with each for a good week, I fell deeply in love with that Roach. I have it in the Bro-D plastic as my main putter, and the Ledgestone Glo Rubber blend as my upshot/driving putter. The grip on the Bro-D is unique, but I really enjoy the tackiness and grit it provides. The rubber blend is similar, but it definitely feels more premium and like it will best in slower.

As a putter, the Bro-D plastic beats in very quickly. I've been using them for putting almost exclusively, beside a couple tree knocks every now and then. They beat in very quickly. I play a lot, maybe 3 rounds a weeks with lots of practice in-between. My Bro-D putters have already began to build a puddle top, which I actually don't mind. They've been in use for just under 6 months. They carry an impressive amount of glide, which is my favorite part about them. They are a great point and shoot putter. Switching from the X3 to these made 50ft putts a lot less intimidating. I'm not good enough to make them consistently, but I can make them a lot more now that I have a putter with a straighter flight than before.

For upshots and drives, I adore the Rubber Blend Glo Roach. I use it for throws that need to go straight for up to 300' (For reference, that's full power. I can get drivers up to 400). I get a consistent hyper flip to flat, and can work a slow left to right turn on them RHBH when needed. The fade is gentle, and comes not till the very end of its flight. If I'm not using the Roach, and I'm looking for similar flight I'll grab the Nova. The Roach flies that straight.

I'll update my review when I get the Z, or any other hard plastic version of the Roach

I absolutely love this disc when I'm 220 feet or less from the basket and I have a clear line. It's a straight flyer and it lands softly. From distance, there's a little, very predictable fade at the end. Closer in, just aim at the post. I still have one of the original ace race discs I used in the Ace Race. Unfortunately the 2nd disc didn't survive the first day because of water I didn't know was there on a course I'd never played before. I feel like I should never lose another one because it's that predictable and I'm that confident throwing it, even over water. That said, should disaster happen, I'm always going to have a couple in reserve.

The Roach is both a great putting and throwing putter, and for both, it flies dead straight with lots of glide. I prefer to use the roach for throwing as it is a little too shallow to fit my hand for putting. This very much reminds me of a Dart, but with more glide and a bit more overstability.

I mainly use the roach as a driving putter. It has no bead and works well for a fan style grip. The big z plastic is durable and the roach molds up relatively flat.

This disc is extremely workable. You can throw it flat or hyzer flip it. The roach will fly exactly how you throw it even in premium plastics. If you can't find a premium Luna this is a great substitute. My all time favorite variety is the cryztal version.

I would recommend this disc to anyone wanting a stable to slightly understand driving putter. It pairs well with a zone to cover all your upshots.

I am still on the fence with the Roach.  I have had the Big Z version for a few weeks now, and have been using it for touchy upshots.  That said, it just doesn't feel right - even if I do love the stamp!  That may be 60% of the reason I bought the Big Z.

Lately I've been throwing my Jawbreaker Zone for nearly every upshot.  I have a Jawbreaker Roach on the way, maybe the grippier plastic will change my mind.

That said, I will probably keep at least one around for a loaner disc.  Feels like a good option for people new to the game.

I've been throwing putter rounds exclusively with two big Z and one ti roach for a couple of weeks now. This is a fantastic throwing putter that I believe to be somewhat underrated, despite PMcB throwing them earlier this season. It is a really fun disc to throw and has changed how I play my game.

The big Z Roaches I am using weigh in at 169g and 171g. Not max weight, but I'm skeptical that it effects the flight at all. Profile wise this is similar to an aviar with a couple important differences. The top shoulder is not as rounded, and as a result the disc is lower in profile relative to an aviar. The top is also flat, not as pronounced as an aviar3, but no dome to speak of. The bottom is convex, which makes for a nicer feel than an aviar. Depth wise the big Z roach is right between an aviar and a pure. The profile of the disc is very symmetrical, it's like a Mako3 in putter form in both feel and flight. In big Z plastic one disc has a slight puddle top, and I like the feel so much that I wore in a puddle top in the other. I've found big Z plastic to run all over the map, but in the roach it is nice and grippy with some pliability but no floppiness to speak of. Feels really nice in the heat.

The ti roach weighs 171g. It feels slightly deeper and has a slight dome to it; feels closer to a classic putter than in big Z. The ti run is not as stiff as old ti, but is a bit slick and lacks the grip and flex I've seen in other news ti blend discs. I much prefer the big Z, but the ti isn't bad. Some guys have said the ti roach is straighter, but I didn't notice that

Flight wise, both big Z and ti roaches fly identically. Incredibly straight, handles power well, carries a long way, and powers down very well. You can rip this disc and it will hold whatever line you put it on, with a bit of turn which is probably the Archer vs the arrow. Very similar to a pure, just slower and retains its stability better. I prefer basier plastics for approach shots but I've had no complaints about premium plastic roach touch shots. I also like forehand shots with the big Z roach, its a great disc to iron out technique. Flight wise it reminds me of a Nova, it will just last much longer and is shallower. As previously stated, this is the putter version of a Mako3. Fantastic disc, great job Discraft.

For a beginning player, this disc is great to get the feel for throwing flat. The flight ratings are pretty accurate I’d say and if you throw it nice and flat with some snap to it, it flies nice and straight and smooth. Overall, I like it. It feels good in my hand for being a deeper disc and the Big-Z plastic seems pretty tough (I’ve hit some trees pretty hard haha).

This is an awesome disc.  I had been using the ESP Challenger for my driving putter but for some reason I could not get a clean release with it anymore, so I decided to check out a big Z Roach.  With the rounded edges and no bead it came out of my hand much easier.  This disc is a bit more overstable than flight numbers would make you think, but when thrown hard will fly dead straight. I would imagine that I will be using this disc off the tee on just about any hole less than 375'.  The only down side of this disc is, because it is a nicer plastic and has no bead on it, it gets quite a bit of ground play when throwing on grass.  It can slide a few feet past the target if your not careful.  Overall a great disc that I am excited to throw more.

I found the Big Z plastic to be too slick to use a traditional putter. However, I absolutely love this disc for short approach shots. It’s my “long putter” because it flies so straight and on target. I’ll use my Roach off the tee on super straight, shorter, holes also. I bought this hoping to putt with it, but found it to be a very reliable hybrid disc instead.

The Buzzz of putters, in my opinion (in terms of being the best). The first time I used this disc was at my first tournament, and I ended up winning the Ring of Fire after the two rounds we played (my putting game was VERY rough before getting this disc), I made 6/12 shots, so needless to say I was very surprised with this disc it's been in my bag ever since. Just point and shoot, like they say!

I've got two Big Z Roaches now and have been really enjoying them. Here are my impressions after a couple weeks of field work and using them during rounds.

Plastic: Big Z is a really good option in between regular Z and ESP. Good grip and seems really durable too. I really like the pearly opaque appearance.

Grip: The Roach feels great to hold. Noticed this the first time I picked one up. Beadless and isn't deep dish like a lot of Innova putters I've held. It's got a nice chunky rim to get a good grip on. The rounded rim really fits a power grip well.

Flight: The Big Z Roach flight reminds me a lot of my ESP Buzzz (but slower). Very controllable and surprisingly stable compared to the reviews I had read about it. Hyzer flips to flat with a hard throw with a gentle forward fade. Great thrower. I'm giving it flight ratings of 3 | 3 | -.5 | 1.

Conclusion. It's been a mold that has just been growing on me the more I use it. Stable, easy to control and is comfortable in the hand. And yes, I like the stamp.

The only plastic I haven't tried the Roach in is jawbreaker. ProD, Soft X and Big Z fly different from each other. The Big Z easily flies farther and oh is it straight. It's an awesome approach disc that seems to do quite well in windy conditions. I found the Pro D and Soft X versions to be better for putting. I like the Big Z version the best, and intend to use it primarily as a short to medium midrange disc.

I've actually only thrown the Pro-D Ace Race version of the Discraft Roach, but I really like this disc. This is a great all purpose disc, and I thought it was an excellent choice for the Ace Race. The Pro-D plastic used at the Ace Race was a nice grippy pro-d blend, and actually seemed to be a little bit more durable than typical Pro-D.

The Roach is slightly understable and super straight when thrown at moderate speeds. I typically don't like deep rims for driving putters, but didn't have any problems with the Roach. Not only does it make a good driving and approach disc for those straight line shots, but I love the feel of it as a putting putter as well. This is a beadless putter, and has a similar height/countour of my ABC Money putter which I almost always use for my in the circle putts.

If want a straight flying approach disc, and like an ugly Cockroach smoking a Cigar on your disc, you should probably buy the Roach.
