Discmania released the CD1 in 2022 toting that it was the same mold as the CD2. Comparing the feel between the two, the CD1 has a slightly deeper feel and a slightly concave bottom wing, where the CD2 was almost perfectly flat on the underside of the wing. Comparing flights, the CD1 is significantly more overstable, at least in the C-Line plastic. We expect that the CD1 in S-Line when it releases will be closer in flight to the CD2.

As of 2023, we don't know if the CD2 will ever be released again, but if it is, it probably will not be anything like the old CD2, and will be a more overstable compliment to the current CD1.

Great neutral disc for intermediate players. May be too stable for absolute beginners but could be a good headwind choice for them.  Hopefully, Discmania is able to start cranking these out again since I think they'll sell like hot cakes.

I have found a very recent love for this disc. I got this a few months back in the Summer Mystery Box from Discmania at 175 grams in C-line plastic. At first, I thought it was a little too overstable for my liking, but decided to keep trying it anyways because I was hopeful since I have heard very good things about this mold and molds similar to it. I am glad I kept throwing it. My favorite shot to throw with this is a hard, flat line that sends the disc on a straight path for a good while and always finishes overstable, but not before it shows some turn as well. The hyzer shots are always reliable and the anhyzer shots grab me a little more distance with this as well. This disc excels for me going through tight gaps. The speed is low enough that a beginner could throw this disc effectively as well. It also shows worth on forehand flex shots for me. I am glad I gave this disc a legitimate chance and now it holds a spot in my bag for shots similar to an fd-esque line that need a bit more speed.

If a Thunderbord is too much and a Teebird is not enough, try a CD2.

I call it my baby Thunderbird. Fantastic reliability to start and it just seasons in to be more and more workable. It will hold a hyzer well and will finish like you need it to. I have had mine in the bag for 2 and half years and it still finishes for me, but the glide just seems to grow with it as it seasons. The C-Line plastic is incredibly durable and absorbs impact without affecting the flight too greatly. Forehands are also good with this disc as it holds uo well to torque. If you have been looking for a stable fairway that will fit both backhand and forehand shots while having a predictable and controlled fade, then look no further.

The C-Line CD2 is one of my favorite discs and has been in my bag for awhile now. I dont have a big arm but i can throw this thing and get its full flight. If I "crank" on this disc it will turn right but can count on it to come back and land around 250-300 ft straight in front of me. Feels great in the hand and the numbers are spot on. Would recommend for anyone.

I have 2 of these bad boys in the jolly launcher cline plastic from the recent mystery boxes. these are money out of the box, nice and flat feels great in the hand. out of the box they will hold a forced slight anny shot from the majoirty of the flight and fight back to flat and finish. Great disc for control hyzer flip shots and straight forehand scamble shots. Definetely a disc for someone looking to improve forehand roll and learn how to throw turn over shots.

I got this in 175g and it is a nice flier. This disc can handle power better than the saint and escape, witch was a little surprising because they all looked like the same disc by the fight  numbers. That being said i think i might have to stick with this disc for a bit to see how it breaks in, because it does not turn very much and has a very easy fade at the end of the flight. As it is seasoned i will be hoping for this disc to turn into a 9 speed "fd" for me.

This is a fun disc to toss. It is easy to hold and grip, great for backhand.

I got this disc to be my distance driver on tight lines. I have found that it is coming out on every shot over 250 ft. If you can think of a line this disc will hit it. I prefer max weight C-Line plastic because of the feel and the clear blue just looks so cool to me.

This disc has a diverse amount of use for people with higher arm speeds. It flies like a "beat-in" champion thunderbird right out of the box. The CD-2 also feels more comfortable in the hand than the thunderbird. I can get the CD-2 to flip to flat and fly straight for about 350' before its stability takes over and begins to fade.

For lower arm speeds, it is a good utility driver with a comfortable rim. It will flight slightly overstable, but still have the 5 glide to get you down the fairway. Overall an awesome disc!

I really enjoyed throwing the CD2 from Discmania. It is a nice disc to step up to if you are looking for something with a bit more distance potential then your fairway, but you still want to maintain control. I would say there is not as much turn as the numbers say, as I did get a small amount of turn, but I really had to put some power behind it. The CD2 has a long straight flight with some good forward fade at the end. I found that it could hold up to some wind, but it is probably not as stable as a PD. The C-line plastic felt great and was extremely durable. Great disc for players with the power for it.

This disc is what I thought the Thunderbird was going to be. Straight with tons of glide and a nice fade at the end. The wing is straight and very comfortable in the hand, a bit shallower than a Thunderbird. Its also super flat. The c-line has 0-0.5 turn, and the blend of plastic is quite gummy. The g-line flies true to the numbers. If anything the g-line is more glidey and is definitely like a longer FD.

This disc is useful for all arm speeds. For lower speed arms this is a great stable driver, and for higher speed arms this is your slightly understable speed 9. If your Thunderbird is flying like a brick, pick up a CD2.

    175 C-Line

This is the best long distance tunnel shot disc ever made. If thrown flat, it will fly dead straight and end dead straight. I can throw this disc almost as far as any other disc in my bag. While being a very straight disc with minimal fade, it is also extremely stable. As an example, on a windy day practicing drives in a field, this disc continued to fly nearly dead straight, whereas my 175 Lucid-x Trespass (brand new), 173 Opto Ballista Pro, and 175 Champion Colossus were being pulled way right and burning into the ground. Only my 175 C-Line PD2 could match the high speed stability of the CD2 in the wind of those discs.

Great predictable flyer. Can really work as your work horse driver. Would recommend this driver to both Beginners and experienced players. Use my c line in the woods when I want the disc to fly about 200-320 feet hyzer to flat or just flat and then consistently fade. I throw this mostly hyzer but will also hold straight or anhzyer well until fading at the end. Has great glide. best in S or C line. I have recently been throwing a fuzion burst Escape instead of this disc when I have a little more room and feel like I'm not going to just drill a tree.

The CD2 is the disc that got me my drive back. With max power, it will hold a pretty long turnover and pan out right at the end. If I throw it flat with controlled power, it will fly straight as an arrow, or if I put a touch of hyzer on it, it will pop flat for 300ish feet and fade nicely and softly.

Hits that sweet spot between a new valkyrie and a well seasoned thunderbird. Great distance driver for average arm speeds like mine

I just bought this disc a few weeks ago but this disc is very straight and glides nicely. I mostly play on wooded courses and I can always trust what the disc is going to do. I would highly recommend this disc to anyone mainly because it is very consistent with forehand and backhand.

I currently bag an older run stiff S-Line CD2 and a new run max weight C-Line.  These discs are perfect for that 330'-350' dead straight control shot.  I used to throw thunderbirds, but once i tried on of these I don't think I'll be switching back anytime soon.  The CD2 when released with a slight hyzer pops up flat and just glides nice and straight for a long time then fades soft with not much skip.  The only down side to these is that they don't handle the wind well.  If it's windy I'll throw by KJ teebird for a similar line with the same amount of control.

This disc has a great feel. I get a ton of control out of it and use it on a few differwnt shots between 315 and 340. It is great for annhyzer lines that fade out at end of flight. Great for tailwind shots but I like it best for straight hyzer flip shots. It pops up and flies straight.

The only problem is I have experienced some inconsistency. I have two max weight C-line, same color, same amout of wear and one is noticeably less high speed stable. The more stable one is, however, much stiffer plastic which may indicate it's a different run.

Overall, an excellent speed 9 control driver.

This is probably my favorite disc. I have the Simon Lizotte lizard stamp from Black Ink discs (Which is beautiful by the way) and it is my go to control driver. Forehand and backhand it is so consistent I love it. A gentle turn and small fade makes this control driver perfect for any player. I give it a -1.5 for turn and a 1.5 in fade because it can be flipped pretty easily and its not quite a 2 in stability in my opinion.

This is by far my favorite disc I have ever thrown. I use it for control shots at 330-405 ft where I want it to land within a 25ft area. Great for long wooded type tunnel shots. C-line plastic tends to be hyzerlfip to flat then hyzer out. S-line is hyzerflip turnover then flexs flat.
Lower arm speeds will find this to be a very long, very straight disc with subtle fade at the end. Point, shoot, get birdies!

The CD2 is my go to 9 speed. It is so easy to control and goes very far without needing a ton of power, yet it still has a decently reliable fade. Without much wear it can hold up fine in a mild headwind, and it can bomb in a tailwind. The CD2 is very similar to a beat in thunderbird, giving you the distance without having to worry about powering up to overcome the stability, and it can be thrown Backhand and Forehand comfortably due to its comfortable rim. I would highly recommend this disc to any intermediate level or higher player looking to add easy distance to their game. It's a great disc to prepare you for moving onto Distance Drivers, and once you get a few cycling through your bag they can cover a massive variety of shots consistently.

Bought this disc right before winter came in Iowa and threw it a couple times and let me tell you this disc is sticking in the bag. Always struggle with fairway drivers but this disc has a good rim to it and has enough speed on it that it is always reliable to fight through the wind where a mid range may not. Throw it flat for nice s curve shots and also a great hyzer flip disc for long range straight shots. Love this disc and everyone needs to check it out!

The Discmania CD2 is a phenomenal control driver, fitting in perfectly between a fairway driver (FD, Teebird, Stalker, etc) and distance driver (Destroyer, Force, PD2, Enforcer, etc.).

You can hit multiple lines with this disc depending on the plastic and conditions. C Lines are great for straight shots with a slight fade, tunnel shots with glide, or smooth gradual hyzer lines. S Lines are slightly less stable than their C Line counterparts, and a great for hyzer flips, turnovers, or rollers once they get super beat-in.

The CD2 is also a great hyzer flip forehand disc in the woods. I use my CD2's both FH and BH with great results each time. For me, it fits in perfectly between my C Line FD's and Star Destroyers.. It's also a great less stable counterpart to the PDx's in my bag.

Highly recommend this disc to slightly experienced to very experienced players!

(Lhbh, intermediate 2 yrs) Definitely a big fan of control drivers. I main bag a 172g c line cd2. It holds this beautiful floating straight line with an expected fade powering down. Outstanding tunnel shots. it does require a good rip as with all slightly overstable discs. this is a nice disc for a transitioning out valkyrie player.

The C-Line CD2 has been one of my favorite discs since I got one in my player's pack for the 2014 USDGC. They came out around the same time as the Thunderbird, and I found that the CD2 is a perfect complement to a PD or Thunderbird, offering a good amount of turn which doesn't come from a PD or Thunderbird out of the box.

Out of the hand, the CD2 will have a good turn. At the end of the flight there will be a dependable fade. At lower elevations, this disc is superior as a control driver with great hyzerflip shots and beautiful turning flight. I don't find myself keeping one in the bag at higher elevations, as it seems to gain a lot more relative stability when moving up in terms of elevation.

Overall the CD2 is a really great disc that has found a small place in my bag. I would definitely suggest trying one out if you're looking for a slightly understable version of the PD or Thunderbird.
