Discmania released the CD1 in 2022 toting that it was the same mold as the CD2. Comparing the feel between the two, the CD1 has a slightly deeper feel and a slightly concave bottom wing, where the CD2 was almost perfectly flat on the underside of the wing. Comparing flights, the CD1 is significantly more overstable, at least in the C-Line plastic. We expect that the CD1 in S-Line when it releases will be closer in flight to the CD2.

As of 2023, we don't know if the CD2 will ever be released again, but if it is, it probably will not be anything like the old CD2, and will be a more overstable compliment to the current CD1.

This review is based on the newer run of the signature swirley s-line "Roaming Thunder II". For comparison my average distance with a fresh 175 gram star Wraith is about 380 ft. I initially bought this disc at 171 grams, to have a turnover control driver. What surprised me is how far this disc will go, with little effort. For my arm speed, if thrown with a little hyzer, it will flip to flat and ride a dead straight line up to about 340 ft, then end with a subtle fade. This has become my MVD (most valuable disc) in my bag and sometimes even out drives my Wraith. If your form is clean, this disc is a straight bomber.

This is a cool disc. It feels very very comfortable in my hand, and it flies like the “basic” or “typical” speed nine. It is rather overstable, but not super overstable. It is neutral enough and comfortable enough to make its way into a player’s bag. However, I just couldn’t groove to this one. I really liked this disc, but it just isn’t anything special. I throw multiple thunderbirds, and a getaway, so this disc sort of fell into line with those two and didn’t really give me a reason to switch anything out. This disc is very glidey, it will keep going and going for a while, more so than most other nine speeds, which is pretty cool
