MVP says: “The Tesla’s responsive design balances a subtle turn and reliable fade, while a pronounced glide and forward finish gain extra distance. The Tesla extends high power or headwind lines and has plenty of bite to fade back reliably and reduce lateral drift. The Tesla can be considered the big brother to our acclaimed Volt fairway driver. Choose the Tesla for long-range pinpoint accuracy.”

Favorite fairway driver ever made. I currently bag 5 and they all have their own role and unique flight characteristics.

    From most stable to least:

    • Simon Lizotte Proton - Board flat and pretty overstable, not sure if it's just the disc I have but it's almost firebird stable. Headwind fighter and forehand bomber.
    • Neutron Stock - Board flat again but this one is less stable than the Proton. Really reliable and consistent.
    • Fission (purple) - Slightly domey and fairly beat up. This is my favorite disc in my bag. It is ultra straight and workable and goes so far. If I really step on it I can get it to 450.
    • Fission (red) - A bit flatter than the purple fission. This one won't fight a headwind as well as the purple either, but this one will hold a nice slow turn.
    • Fission (white - old run) - This thing is pretty flippy. Really light and beat up, but a great roller and turning shots that never fight out

Cannot go wrong with the Tesla. Lower armspeeds should reach for fission, higher arm speeds will love the neutron and proton. They do take a good amount of throws to beat in, but once they do they're better than any other fairway I've ever thrown.

The long fairway/distance driver to rule them all! There are so many 9/5/-1/2 discs out there...it can be overwhelming. For me, the Tesla is the cream of the crop. This disc is just money in the hand. It has the right amount of turn without a dumping fade. The distance you can my get out this thing is crazy. I max out at 10 or 11 speed discs but the Tesla gives me the control I can count on even if I sacrifice 20-30 feet. There's a reason so many GYROnauts and others bag the Tesla: consistency and distance. Never leaving my bag. Grab a few in different plastics to cover your slots!

    170g Neutron MVP Tesla

This slightly overstable driver has become a favorite of mine. It is my primary driver off the tee as it can get good distance when given slight anhyzer. The Tesla gives you a tight s-curve which is great for wooded courses.

I absolutely love my Teslas. After I felt confident in my midranges and slower fairways, I wanted to ramp up the speed a bit and was looking for something in the 9 speed that flew similar to my Teebirds. Once I had this in hand I knew it was money. I own 2 of these, 1 in Neutron and 1 in Fission plastic. The Neutron is very accurate on the numbers, I get this to go dead straight, maybe a slight bit of turn with a reliable fade. The Fission plastic feels amazing and I think is slightly less stable. They are very flat and feel great for backhand or forehand. These will always have a spot in my bag.

I bought the Tesla initially for forehand drives but never really got the feel for it. At the time my backhand was a big WIP so it ended up shelved and eventually thrown into the water. Months later it showed up at Maple Hill and I arranged to get it back.

Since that point it has become my workhorse driver off the tee backhand. I can consistently push past 300 feet, while maintaining a low, level flight and reliable fade. A great disc to expect a skip at the end too, incredibly thin profile makes the backhand release smooth and easy. I think for me the combination of this discs stability, my arm speed, and the lower weight all converged for great results.

The glide is definitely on the lower end as I find it more of a "point and shoot" style disc, so I can get better distance with other options but if I need a reliable release and aim above all else I'm grabbing the Tesla.

It's stood up to considerable punishment and gets even better the more beat in it gets. The vast majority of my drivers are MVP/Axiom/Streamline I really like their Neutron plastic.

    Disc - 167 Neutron Tesla

Feel - The Tesla that I received is very flat topped and has a fairly good feeling rim. It feels a little sharp in my opinion but fits great for backhands and sidearms. I really enjoy the feeling of some of MVPs plastic as I think it really is very grippy and durable as well.

Flight - The Tesla is a fantastic flyer. This disc is really a great disc out of the MVP lineup. It is similar to a thunderbird in my opinion but not quite as glidey. It is very workable on different lines and responsive to different angles. You can shape this disc nicely through the woods but is great in the open as well. It will hold basically any angle you put it on and will have a decent bit of low speed fade. I would recommend the tesla to anyone who is wanting to try out some new MVP plastic as many people will with James Conrads recent switch to the brand.

Overall - One of my favorite MVP discs that I have tried and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a straight to stable fairway driver.

I got this disc in proton plastic, and this is when I learned that proton plastic is extremely overstable. It took me a while to get used to this disc and it's overstability, but once I did, I really enjoyed using it, although I had other discs that did its job better. I eventually gave it to my brother, wanting to clear some space for more stable to understable drivers. I would recommend this disc for anyone wanting to increase distance, but I'd highly recommend getting it in a more understable or stable plastic, like neutron or electron. All in all, a good disc!

The MVP Tesla is one of my most reliable drivers. I've had two, one in Electron plastic and one in Neutron. I found I could consistently throw straight drives with the Tesla that reach between 330'-350'. It flies pretty true to the numbers on the disc, I've found mine to be a touch more understable, with just a little bit of turn, and not quite as much fade as advertised. This is unquestionably a great disc. Paired with a Volt, there is hardly a hole under 350' that I don't feel confident in being able to park my drive. I highly recommend the Tesla to anyone looking for a new disc to add to their bag for straight flying distance drives

This is one of my favorite discs. It is comfortable and slick with a smooth release. Depending on the power and angle put behind it, it can skip either just a few feet or give you an additional 25-30. It doesn't roll much which is great for me, as I am not good at utilizing rollers. It has a perfect fade that isn't so sharp that it'll risk putting you OB on a good throw. It can be utilized great for both backhands and forehands. And is great on drives where you need a gradual turn in either direction, plus it's a solid option for scrambles when needed!

I'd consider this more a fairway to midrange disc rather than a distance driver.  But I actually really like it for that.  It's unique for me in that it DOES turn and fade, but much slower than other discs.  So if I were to throw a normal disc so that it achieved a 10 degree turn before starting to fade at 50 ft out, the tesla won't achieve a 10 degree turn till 75 ft out when thrown the same way.  It makes it great for tunnel shots, and much more forgiving for a throw where you might worry about putting too much power on it.

I too am bumping the turn down on this one as I find the disc to be quite overstable. Was looking for a longer servo which is a great stable disc, but ended up with this tesla which is great for flex shots.

Flies great when released on an anhyzer and will always turn back. I think beginners should avoid this one as it is a bit too overstable but once you get familiar with it, the disc flies great. Good forehand disc as well.

As several.other have stated, this disc is considerably more overstable than the flight numbers suggest, however it's still a fantastic disc. It's not quite as overstable as a Firebird or Felon, but not too far off either. Given the flat top, this disc is great for forehand drives. I've also come to rely on my Tesla in situations which require a big skip. Very reliable and predictable disc. If you're looking for a disc which is more true to the flight numbers, I'd check out the wrath.

Depending on your skill this is either stable-overstable or overstable. I find it impossible to flip at all without anhyzer or cross wind but is a good disc. For new players it will be a hard fade and a good overstable disc to start.

Oh yes, the MVP Tesla. The Tesla has always been one of my favorite drivers from MVP. For me it's either a high speed fairway or a low speed distance driver depending on what kind of shot you are looking to shape with it. Don't get me wrong, you can get tons of glide out of the Tesla if you put enough power into it, but if you power it down some, it can be that nice overstable fairway you are looking for that has just the right amount of fade to it rather than being a meat hook. I have thrown the Tesla in Neutron, Proton, and Fission plastic and have loved every plastic variation I have tried. The most glide will obviously come from the Fission Tesla but you will lose some overstability in this plastic. If you just want a good dependable overstable fairway, make sure you pick up a Tesla.

This is the disc that got me into MVP, Axiom, and Streamline.  Looking for more consistency when buying discs I fell into this brand.   The Tesla is a fantastic disc.   Very reliable.  Hyzer release and it stands up and carries a straight line for a few hundred feet and fades off very nicely.   Comfortable in hand and reliable flight path makes this a very good disc.

This was my first MVP disc, and while I was all geeked out about the idea of gyro, I didn't know what to expect. I had been in the market for an undertaker for an OS fairway driver, but instead tried this and fell in love with it. Along with my zone, this tesla is amazingly predictable in flight and flies very straight with a nice "reliable fade" just like MVP says. It fights wind fairly well. A very useful disc.

This is my favorite driver I've ever thrown, hands down.  I can skim this disc upwards of 300 ft without it ever getting above chest level.  It has some fade at the end of the flight, as it should, but otherwise it's remarkably straight.  The neutron plastic feels great, doesn't require breaking in, and can handle insane amounts of abuse.  The bright colors also make it very hard to lose.  I almost never have to grab a more powerful driver, since the Tesla always gets the job done.  Using the Tesla, I've outdistanced all my other discs, including 12s and 13s.

I wouldn't recommend this disc to a beginner who doesn't already have a good huck, but for  intermediate players or crossovers from ultimate, this disc is easy to throw and very predictable.  As a forehand player, this disc is absolutely essential to me, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

The Tesla that I have is very overstable. Based on the flight numbers, this is not what I was expecting. Mine flies similar to a Innova Firebird. I have it in Neutron plastic and was only able to really get any use out of it with my forehand.

I would say I have an intermediate arm and the Tesla was just too dumpy for me with my backhand. With my forehand, if I really wing it, then I can get a good straight flight before it dumps hard. If these are the flights you are looking for, then this is a  very good utility disc.

Possibly in a lighter weight this one will do more of what the flight path indicates but I was not able to get it to do that.

I got this disc with my PDGA membership. Mine is extremely lightweight - 152g - so keep this in mind.

I love this disc. The numbers on here define a disc similar to the Destroyer. However, this disc flies much straighter than the Destroyer (for me).  I typically throw the Innova Daedalus for distance but this disc might just win the battle. I feel more in control with the Tesla. I'm not saying the Daedalus is uncontrollable, but I certainly don't have to allow for the turn with the Tesla.

As I said, mine is lightweight so I don't know if the higher weights greatly effect the stability. I do plan on finding out, though. I recommend giving a Tesla a go.

This is a staple in my bag. I mainly use it to flick with and as my main Forehand roller disc. I also use it backhand in windy conditions. It is a very versatile disc for me. However, I would say it is more stable than the numbers indicate. As a forehand disc is will get a subtle turn in the beginning of the flight with a strong penetrating fade and skip. For my Forehand rollers I will get down on a 50-60 degree angle and it will keep going straight for a long time before standing up vertical.

The Tesla I have is waaaaaaay overstable. It's the most overstable disc in my bag by a long shot. I feel like it throws more like a Firebird. I have no idea how Teslas usually throw as this is the only one I've thrown. There is absolutely no dome on it, it's dead flat on the top and doesn't glide at all. I can get some decent distance out of it but I have to crank it on an anhyzer. It's been a curious disc this one.

The MVP Tesla is quite an interesting disc, one that I truly had a hard time finding a comparable mold to liken it to and it’s safe to say it’s definitely in a class of its own. The Tesla has a smaller distance driver rim that feels somewhat comfortable in the hand both forehand and backhand. The Gyro Rim is slightly noticeable at first but once you have it power gripped you would never be able to tell. My test subject is a 152g Fission Tesla that came as part of my PDGA welcome kit and it is board flat I also have a 174g plasma tesla.

The Tesla is quite an interesting flier it has a decent amount of stability when new and holds its line pretty close as it wears in which was very surprising for a disc this light. When thrown flat it has a gradual slow turn and progressive forward fade which would make you think it should go very, very far. It works well when bending it to different lines although when throwing a big anhyzer I did have it stall out a couple times (which should fix as it breaks in) and when thrown on hyzer this disc flips to flat slowly and then pans a little before progressively fading out, unless you outright hyzerbomb it this discs fade is very slow and progressive. Forehand this disc works great for hyzerflips. Overhands like thumbers tomahawks and grenades are about average, nothing crazy good or crazy bad. In the plasma plastic at max weight this disc has a good amount of stability and it removes some of the exaggerated flight characteristics from it.

The lightweight nature of my Tesla would make you think it is bad in headwinds but strangely this disc manages well in mild conditions, as long as it was not a ripping wind in any direction this disc maintained its composure very well. In higher weights I can see this being okay for slight breezes. The max weight one handled headwinds like a champ, but seemed to peter out a little too soon in a tailwind.

Despite the lightweight nature and very smooth flight this disc requires it be thrown with a decent amount of power in order to get it to behave nicely. Beginners probably will not have luck with it but I can see intermediate, Women's intermediate/advanced, and even some grand masters players making great use out of this as it’s light weight and smooth flight are very easy to achieve assuming you have the form and moderate arm speed.

Overall this disc is a rock solid offering from MVP giving you solid distance with reliable fade back. It's unique nature has earned a slot in my bag and has been something go back to time and again for a straight controllable flight but its not quite my max distance disc. 4/5 stars suits this disc well it is a great workhorse and is probably the first MVP distance driver I would recommend people try out.

To me this disc is like a star wraith that handles wind, both head and tailwind, better and is much more consistent for forehand drives as well, although it still rarely is my first pick for a forehand drive.

Very accurate around 280-310 feet shots with minimal turn to the right and strong fade to the left after on low lines(rhbh).

My most thrown driver on rather open courses on shots that still have to land inside my very tiny putting comfort area to take the birdie.

Having some bad experiences with my neutron photon's outer rim getting very nasty chunks tore off using it on a rocky course I don't dare to throw the tesla in this type of areas. hits on  the trees seem perfectly fine though. I would rate the fade on this disc 3 rather than 2, it is strong.

Tesla might be the most comfortable disc in the hand, perfectly flat with a little smaller rim than the typical 11 speed discs.

Definitely would recommend this disc to anyone with the arm speed necessary.

The Tesla is probably my favorite MVP disc to date. I tested out the Tesla when I played the MVP circuit, the TD let me try out a bunch of his MVP plastic to go along with my circuit discs. It is rated a little less stable than a Wraith, but to me reminded me exactly of a Wraith, so I gave it the same flight ratings at 11, 5, -1, 3. This disc is fairly fast out of the hand, and with a lot of power can turn a decent amount. For the most part this is a solid stable flyer and I was impressed with the stability. This is the first MVP disc that I tried that I could throw into a headwind. It is predictable.

I took 1 star off of this review because again, I am just not a fan of overmold technology. I liked the flight path of the Tesla, but just like every other MVP disc I have tried, I simply cannot enjoy the feel of the disc in my hand. To me this is a big factor, as I feel much more confident with a disc that feels right in my hand.

This disc introduced me to overstability. Granted, its because I was sponsored by Weenie Hut Jr and had the arm speed of Spaghetti-os, but it flew overstable and I fell in loved. As time went by I got my ark speed up to that of Chef Boyardee and the true flight pattern came out. Still loved it to death. Sadly I lost this disc. I threw such an awesome drive with it that I was super stoked to get a 2 and forgot to pick it back up. Haunts my dreams and fuels my fantasies. Great disc. Buy it.

I purchased a 155 gr Tesla in neutron and have thrown it all summer and it's breaking in nicely. The store only had the 155 so I thought I'd give it a try anyway. I'm glad I did! There are a few uphill holes at my local course that this disc gets further on up for me as I don't have the power as most of the young guns. There is no fear of turning this disc over for me as it will always finish left for me being a right hander! Great disc MVP! I'm going to get one around 164 or so to try it in a heavier weight.

I have a 173g nuetron tesla and it is absolutely one of my favorite disc to throw. Like everyone says it is just like the Volt but faster. I use this disc for flicks that I need to keep low. I am personaly a fan of all the MVP and Axiom disc, they simply feel the best in my hand.

My Tesla is Red, 168 grams. When the four drivers were announced, I figured this disc might become the best one of all the four. Man, was I wrong. I was so disappointed with the Tesla that I'm not keeping it and putting my Surge in the bag instead of this. The disc is very flat and feels nice. Backhand throws: In no wind, this disc is very stable for me and I had to rip it really hard to get it flat. In a headwind or wind coming from the left, this disc will turn a little and once it loses speed, it falls out of the air immediately with no forward progress. Sometimes this disc will get air underneath it and turn a whole bunch, but it seems that most of my discs turn when there is that much wind. Sidearm throws: In no wind, this disc can turn just a bit or stay straight until it starts to lose speed, and then it just falls straight down. In a headwind or wind that comes off the right, this disc turns maybe like -2 or -3 and doesn't really come back too much because of the lack of glide. In comparison to the Volt, the Tesla is faster in the first half of the flight, but it has way less glide. The Tesla is a tad bit more stable than the Volt, but I can throw my Volts just as far as the Tesla, if not further. Overall, this disc just falls short on glide, consistency, and distance. I don't recommend this disc to any disc golfers, except maybe really strong throwers that need some more control.
